Welcome to August Lake!

Nick and Emily Barrett grew up in the shadow of their mother’s shameful secret. And when she passes away unexpectedly, estranged brother and sister must return to their childhood home in the sleepy town of August Lake and sort through the past. Emily begins to lose hope, but when she discovers a mysterious man living in the guest cottage, she realizes she isn’t the only one harboring a secret.

I had a lot of fun with the contrast between Emily’s tendency to live vicariously through books and Nick’s get-out-there-and-live-it attitude. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying fictional romances—I’m a romance junkie myself—but this time it’s Emily’s turn to discover passionate kisses and a fluttery pulse in real life.

Visit my blog for more about how Emily’s story was born and keep an eye out for Nick’s story Runnin' Out of Road, due out in March of 2016.

Until next time,
Rachelle Vaughn
