Just when Chiharu has decided he doesn't hate Kyo all that much and they can be friends, he accidentally touches her breast. Kyo, afraid she might be found out, makes a hurried excuse and comes up with a plan to make herself seem more masculine. Also in this volume: 'Change' and 'Uso Tsuki na Kanojo' (False Girlfriend) - two one-off stories.
The main story was fine...but then the second half was...what the fuck?
The first half is the main story and we get more progress between the two leads. The main guy finding out she's really a girl but not giving a shit and telling her to keep it a secret. Some great moments between the two characters. But 2nd half is a dumbass story that feels more like a AD by the creator than anything. It's not even the same story..it's like taking up half the book for a "sneak preview"
Now that the character relationships are established, the author slowed down a bit, so this got an extra 0.5 stars over the first one. The same aspects are enjoyable, but again it’s just missing some substance. Still a light fun read though!
This is the next book of the series "Girl Got Game". It continues about the life of Chiharu trying to hide the fact that she's actually a girl. The interesting thing is that Chiharu starts to fall for Aizawa; the one who she'd said was a jerk!
Since I read the first book of the series, and since that book was so interesting, I just had to read the second book! I needed to find out what happened to Chiharu and Aizawa.
I decided to complete this book because I love this book and it's storyline. There's the main idea of how Kyo's trying to hide her identity, but there are also other problems such has falling I love with Aizawa. I love how the writer made this story so unpredictable.
I would recommend this book to whoever read the first book in the series because I, personally hate reading books without knowing the beginning.
Anehnya, ulah mesum Kyo nggak bikin popularitasnya turun.
So yeah, akhirnya dia ngaku sama Chiharu kalau dia cewek, tapi Chiharu gak mau dengerin dia lebih lanjut.
Aku nggak suka sama dua cerita one-shoot-nya. Dangkal.
Due to her roommate almost discovering that she is a girl, Kyo overcompensates in her attempts to act like a boy. While this can be humorous and cringe-worthy at times, the overall arc of the story ends on a nice note.
That being said, only the first half of this volume is dedicated to the Girl Got Game story. The second half of the book is made up of two short stories. While I was entertained by the two stories and even found the second of the two stories to have an interesting premise, they fell a little short of my expectations. It's hard to root for a romance in which one of the parties involved continuously ignores the other's wants or disrespects their partner's boundaries.
Kyo is still settling in and trying to figure out how to deal with her roommate and her teammates while hiding her identity. Funny, sweet, and overall entertaining. Should be interesting to see where we go from here. Honorable shoutout to the moment when KYo gets all the Valentines chocolate and her teammates are looking shocked at her, then she says, 'So many Valentines. And I can make none of the happy.' Such a good moment. lol.
“Boobies!!” LOL! That humor I was looking for showed up in this volume. Eniwa feeling up the fat boy in the locker room had me DEAD! But what’s up with half the volume being two random short stories though???! I did laugh at those but come on!
While this manga does have quite a bit of basketball in it, Girl Got Game is much more about the draaaammmmmaaaa, often crazily exaggerated, surrounding the two main characters: Chiharu and Kyo.
Thought to be honest, I doubt anyone reads it for the basketball content. The series is too hilarious on its own to be a true sport manga. Plus that whole romance thing really does steal the show.
Mmmmmm...Chiharu
I really enjoy the gender bending qualities of the story, however. They make it that more fun!
Even the short stories included in a few of the volumes are fun to read, even if I do begrudge the space they take away from my precious Chiharu
Lol this volume only has two chapters of Girl Got Game (plus two bonus short stories). After I finished the volume -- and I read it in one sitting -- I'd already forgotten what happened in the main plot. No wonder I didn't write a review last time because there's really not that much to say!
TW for attempted rape in the first bonus story (love interest saves protagonist from male classmate, and later a whole group of them). I hate that trope SO MUCH.
Second bonus story has some cute gender shenanigans: girl dates a boy who is sometimes a girl, she prefers the girl but also loves the boy. Cute!
This series as a whole is mediocre. It starts off strong but gets weak. I started to notice it with the slap-stick silliness. It seems like the author put it in as a filler and it throws the plot off course. The writing is lacking and that is the most important thing, even with a manga.
If you like the girl pretending to be a boy theme you should go with one of the more popular series, like Hana-Kimi or W Juliet. I haven't read them but they have to be better than Girl Got Game.
This volume was just as good as the first volume. I really like the characters in this series. The bonus stories "Makeover" & "False Girlfriend" were also pretty interesting.
