Tsuyaka Himejima, a recent transfer to Kyo's new high school, is very disappointed to discover her former teammate's gender-bending masquerade. Tsuyaka soon comes up with a plan to get Kyo on the girls basketball team. Illustrations.
There were some funny/cute moments in here for sure, but the friend group isn’t very well established. That means that the emotions we’re supposed to feel during Aizawa’s possibility of being exposed just aren’t there. How do we care about a betrayal if we don’t really know the people being betrayed? Overall it’s cute though!
Another cute volume. Some really silly/funny moments and I like the two main leads. Her friend comes in, and she's a firey spirit that does give some good laughs. I didn't love how she ripped her friends shirt up so she revealed her boobs to the guy...pretty disgusting. But overall it was still solid, wonder how we can stretch this 7 more volumes though.
So, these are definitely a product of the time I will say. I read volumes 2-5 in brief hour I had before I had to get ready for work and I know at this point I saw the r-slur at least twice. I will say all the loosey goosey gender shenanigans seems to be both on par and occasionally ahead of its time, I wonder if the mangaka was figuring some stuff out.
Tsuyaka lalu menantang Chiharu main basket.
Eniwa's confusion over his attraction towards Kyo is adorable. 🥰
I didn't like the scene where Kyo got outed by her senpai, who tore her shirt off to "reveal" her gender (big asterisk). That's a horrible thing to do and the manga sort of brushes past it like it's no big deal. This manga was not written for an LGBT+ audience: it laughs at homosexuality and makes light of trans/non-binary experiences. It seems like trans people don't exist in this world, even though crossdressing does.
The dokidoki romance is cute, tho.
This is such a weird manga to rate, because it's old, and the world has changed since then, but at the same time, did it? I can look past the red flags and enjoy the dokidoki because this series is old and that's an excuse; but I wouldn't recommend this to a new reader. There's so much better stuff out there, sweeties.
This volume was really good. This volume brings a new character into the series from Kyo's past. This was a really good volume. The bonus "Girl Got Game Meeting - Round One" at the end of the volume was also pretty fun.
I really enjoyed this volume, mostly because the stakes got much, much higher for Kyo, and we finally got to the end of 'is he or isn't he?' arc thing that's been going on.
One of Kyo's former team mates transfers schools and exposes her secret to Chiharu. Now the two can't even look at each other, and Chiharu says he can't live with Kyo anymore. What's Kyo to do?
