Wings of Vengeance

Rate this book
No one knows of Lucian’s long-held secret—a recently transformed Nephilim daughter. Unfortunately for the Gray house, Lilith believes Emma is the one responsible for killing her father, and her deep-rooted hatred has turned into an envious obsession.
Powerful, with wings as dark as night, revenge consumes Lilith’s every thought, only to be fueled by Lucifer’s lies. Her newly transformed gifts have raised the danger level. Her aim is to strip Emma from everyone she loves, and has Lucifer’s Fallen warriors to aid in her task.
Receiving help from Midway, Emma reconnects with friends of old and new, and hopes it will be enough to keep them all alive.

(PureTextuality.com)4.5/5 Stars When the fourth book in this series, Gilded Wings ended, readers loudly clammored for more even though that was the final book in the series. The author obliged and this book was born. And while it’s shorter in length than the others, and not as big in scope, it was a very satisfying glimpse into the new life and good versus evil battles of heroine Emma and her new husband, Kade.

Emma is still growing stronger as an angel daily. By her side is Kade, as both her protector and husband. The two of them together are formidable. A new threat looms in the form of Lucien’s nephilium daughter Lilith, who emerges after his death. Previously unknown to everyone, Lilith is now out for revenge and it all centers on Emma. Why? Because Lucifer lied to her and told her that Emma killed Lucien, when that couldn’t be further than the truth. Emma begins having nightmares, ones that feature her loved ones being killed by Lilith in horrible ways. And Lilith has started stalking Emma and Kade wherever they go. Emma knows she must get her best friends back to Alaska from L.A. so that she can protect them. So Jeremy and Lia come to Alaska, but even that adventure is fraught with danger. War is coming to Alaska and Emma and Kade are right in the middle of it all.

Most of the characters from the previous installments are back again. It’s always nice to reconnect with characters that you have grown to love. Besides Emma and Kade, Alaine and Samuel are back as Emma’s biological parents. But it was Dom, the humorously protective angel that I enjoyed the most of the peripheral characters. He’s powerfully built and handsome and totally knows it. He was the comic relief in most, if not all of these books. But he is also a fearsome warrior and loyal to the max.

This may have been the last of the books in this series, but there was one small thing I noticed that could account for another book to be born or spun off from this series. It involves the question of whether or not a human can be made immortal even if they are not born to it, something that Jeremy asks and Alaine answers, but way too abruptly. I would love to see a book where that happens! And if it were to happen to Jeremy, even better!

These books have always been young adult. Now that Emma and Kaden are married, that kind of falls by the wayside when the two are alone. It’s pretty lustful and you know what is happening, but nothing really explicit. There’s also quite a bit of violence since they are pretty much at war throughout this book, and that is definitely pretty explicit. For those reasons, I would recommend this book to ages 16+. Highly recommend this whole series!

Another 5 stars for me

I always loved this world I've been privy to. It's beautiful and terrifying at the same time. Kade and Emma's love will never falter. It's simply too strong. Good shall always triumph over evil. And family isn't always about blood. These stories. This journey. It will forever be one of my favorites.

I just hope to one day soon see Dom get his happily ever after.

Good wrap to the series

Emma and Kade are finally married and thought they would be able to settle into normal for at least a little while. Unfortunately, Lucifer has been busy in the underground. Unbeknownst to everyone, Lucian had a young Nephilim daughter, Lilith, who just came of age. She is strong, talented, winged, and full of murderous hatred. And she is aiming this hatred at Emma, who she has been told is the one that killed her father.
Through deception and trickery, Lilith aims to take all of Emma's friends and family from her. But Emma has some secret powers of her own and they are a match for Lilith.
I enjoyed this series (devoured it in 2 days) and look forward to reading other books by Cameo Renae.

Eh

Kind of anti climatic. Emma gets in trouble again. Big huge fight with the god guys vs the bad guys.

Vengeance is Bloody, Beautiful and Hollow in the End
Cameo Renae delivers a surprise addition to her bestselling Hidden Wings series with a golden-haired fiend on rampage
Bitch on wheels.

From now on, when I think of this cliche, I will think of a blonde nephilim “hell bent” on
destruction over the loss of her father, even if her anger is misguided.

I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s take it back for a second so you know where we are in the story.

Cameo Renae’s Hidden Wings series took us on a voyage of self-discovery with Emma after she tragically loses her parents in a car crash. She grows into a strong force, and finds family and a love of her own. In the end of the last book, she seemed to be tied up neatly with a bow.

But then, out of left field, Cameo delivered announced that she was working on a new book for the series with a new and unexpected character, and her fans rejoiced in true Worshipper style (you’d understand if you’d read them). Suddenly, the thought of a married Kade and Emma took the internet by storm and fans couldn’t wait to see these adorable lovers as they moved into this next challenge together.

So what happens?

Well, we meet Lilith, Lucian’s secret child. She was raised with just Ethon as a companion, and with both gone for good, and Lucifer in exile, she’s convinced Emma is to blame and must pay the price. She is coming for our girl, and she’s taking out everyone in Gray House if she can.

With impending danger, our crew of quirky best friends, wayward relatives and adorable Guardians return, minus some notable exceptions whose loss can be felt in this book. What we do have is some more DOMINIC, and let me tell you, if I ever wanted a spinoff book (maybe something NEW ADULT, Cameo *hint hint*) gimme Dom. I have always loved this character. His delicious combination of sexy arrogance and mushy teddy bear with a side of vulnerability makes him ideal for his own search for happiness.

Make it happen, woman.

Anyway, I digress. We’re again fighting the crazies from the Dark Side, but this new foe is one twisted chick and her actions will have you questioning saying wtf… I know I couldn’t figure her out.

In the end, I would say you could assume it would all work out, but Cameo doesn’t always give us what we’d expect. She’ll go all George R.R. Martin and busting caps, so to speak.

I have to say that it was hard for me to read this book because there was a distinct hollow with Ethon. I mean, usually when a girl “chooses” in these books, the other guy is still around and finds his own HEA. Without Ethon, it hurt my heart… especially when they went to his tree. Ugh.

But ya, life goes on, and that’s what this book is about, really… the next chapter.

My overall take on this book is that it wasn’t my favorite in the series, but it was a great surprise, and it was comforting to visit the old crew. I also loved some of the twists that Cameo built into the story, most especially the gift Lilith possesses, and her admission during the final battle of how she used it. WOAH.

Clearly you need to read this series from the beginning. Though it has implied sexual situation and some minor profanity, it is solidly in the YA category (though maybe not as religious or spiritual as its categorizing on Amazon would lead you to believe).

If you’re a mom of teen girls like me, this is one of those books you can be ok reading along with your kids. On a side note, I cannot stress how beautiful of this book’s cover art. I said it when we did the cover reveal, and I have to repeat myself now. Beeeeautiful!

Enjoyed the new twist

I really enjoyed this series very much. The characters all entertaining especially Dom . Who is my absolute favorite. I want him to have his own book. The only I would of wanted was some steamy love scenes other then that I loved it.

I was super excited to read this and was left horribly dissatisfied. The writing wasn't bad but the story was over with the last book she wrote. Should have just left it where it was and not continued it on.

Such a shame.

So overall i did rather enjoy the story however i feel as if she should have left it at the last book. While i enjoyed most of the book after i was done reading some of it felt slightly rushed.... especially the ending battle scene i personally wanted it to last longer but bringing in a new threat that you have only seen in the one book and hasn't had the chance to build much i wasn't sure what to expect with the final battle - but what we got wasn't what i expected to happen. But even this i still finished out the story because i do love the characters and wanted to see how she ended the story

It was cool to see Emma and Kade grow together. Emma is a force to be reckoned with - she is extremely skilled with her wings and its almost funny at times when her wings seem to take a mind of their own when her 'battle instincts' start to kick in. It was great seeing some of the old characters and the new ones come into play in this book - it was interesting how **SPOILER ALERT!!!** They brought in Mark - who was Malachi's twin so it was like he was still fighting with the group - having him there was bitter sweet because while it was nice it was a sad reminder of what happened with Malachi...

I didn't want it to end. To the point I dragged it out and put off reading but I got there in the end.

I have loved this series of books and Wings of Vengeance lived up to all it's predecessors. I love the relationships and family feeling you get with the main characters. I love that you feel bonded to the story and every one in it. Emma and Kade are what love stories are all about. They face anything that's thrown at them together and come out of it stronger and they have all the support they need surrounding them.

With this book comes a new foe and another war. Meaning old faces return to help, we meet new faces to fight along side the familiar ones. It's an action packed tale that keeps you guessing as you get deeper into the story. I loved that I didn't know which way the story was going to end or what was about to happen.

Again I have loved this series and all the books in it. I am happy that I dived in and lived along side these amazing characters. They have become like family to me.

The only reason I gave this book 5 stars is because I can't give more than that. Cameo Renae has done it again!

I loved the first four books in the series and waited anxiously for this book to come out. You really need to read the first four books. You will better understand the history, relationships and love they all have for each other.

This author weaves a story you are drawn right into. Your heart pounds when there is danger. You ache when one of them is hurt. You feel the sorrow gripping their souls.

Most excellent job, Cameo!! Love all of your books!! Looking forward to the next book you write, regardless of which series it is!!

Another Amazing Novel ♡♡♡♡

This was just another gift from Ms. Renae! For those of us who always crave more after the happily ever after, we've been given this present. All my favorite characters reappeared! It was wonderful to smile and read seeing their individual personalities shine through each page. There was a lot of tense scenes and injuries, but of course the day was saved in a most spectacular way in the end. If you loved the Hidden Wings series, you simply have to read this jewel ♡♡♡♡ Ms. Renae is one of my favorite authors! The way in which she crafts a scene and executes it is breath taking and always keeps you on your toes ready and poised to see what happens next!!!

Entertaining series

It’s not that I didn’t enjoy or like the book because I did, but I felt like the series could have ended with book 4. I didn’t feel like book 5 added anything crucial or substantial to the plot.

But it is what it is and I liked the Emma in this book a lot. She’s matured and grown a lot through the series. She is no longer the weepy weak girl from the first couple of books that I wanted to knock some sense into.

Overall the series is entertaining and enjoyable, but I really had to push through the sad weepy girl in the first two books to finally genuinely enjoy the series.

Renae has doing it again... I appreciated the way the new characters were introduced it was a smooth transition. As always Emma and Kade's love story got me. The twist of Lucian having a nephilim daughter was definitely good stuff to. Overall I loved it the angels won my heart. Not sure if I was ready for the series to end but that's how you know it's a great book which it is. Oh and on a side note I would love a spin off book about Dominic's life feel like that would be good reading...just saying.

I was in awe!

I was in awe because the series for this book had continued and I had thought it had finished with previous book. Anyways I’m glad there was more to Emma and Kadence and family, friends, and guardians. I’m glad there were more introduced. I was saddened for Emma’s father for what had happened to him. Emma had nightmares and which were happening but she found a way to view them as premonitions to save her loved ones. I was completely intrigued and couldn’t stop flipping the pages. I definitely recommend. Happy reading!
