This one I actually liked better than the first one. Its a book with a transgender lead and and also has a lead that suffers from a mental illness which is on my challenge’s from both Book Riot and Just Another Girl and Her Books. So I was able to kill two birds with one stone there.

It was good, nay, great. It was totally worth it, I would highly recommend that you read it. It deals with a lot of current social issues. However, the storyline itself took a left turn about half-way through the book. Whereas the first part of the book focused on Benji and Laney’s relationship. The second part was more about outside forces exerting pressure on them. Does that make sense?

Benji had some insecurity as a transgender male. He was trying to find happiness and acceptance in his life from others and himself. Laney dealt with her depression and was trying to overcome her paranoira with regards to that. Her feelings parallel Benji’s in that they both want acceptance and they both have insecurities with themselves. That part was written beautifully. Laney didn’t want people to treat her differently because of her struggle. She showed a lot of bravery throughout the book. As someone who loves a family member with depression, I can see her bravery for not keeping it all inside.

But then it kind of took this like weird turn where it became about outing Lydia because Jebs ex was fucking psycho. It came out of nowhere and surprised me. Laney and Benji got caught in the crossfire of that so I can see where that is relevant but at the same time the storyline forked and it didn’t make sense to me. It really didn’t have anything directly to do with Laney and Benji’s relationhship. I get that they are family and friends, I do. But the beginning and the ending didn’t flow between the first half and second.

I really felt that took away from Benji and Laney’s story because, IMO, without the added plot of Lydia’s problem, their’s would have been good enough.

I think I undertstand why the author did because the book was very internal, there wasn’t a lot of external conflict. I suspect the author put that internal conflict in the book to make it not so introspective. But I’m a huge fan of introspective, internal books so that was a negative for me.

I wanted to give this book 5 stars for bringing those social issues more current in reading and because I could really connect with each character so intimately. The plot just took a real weird turn for me so I can’t. 4 stars is still good though so I don’t feel that bad.

I really enjoyed 180 Days, the first book in this series, so much that I hoped this would turn into more books. When I saw this was up for pre-order, I absolutely one-clicked it.

This was a continuation of the previous book, in which there was a lot of background on the characters so this one didn't need to focus on it as much.

As much as I am fond of this world and these characters, this one just didn't live up to the last one. The editing wasn't bad, but there are some issues and the formatting for the chapters was weird.

There's a lot more drama in this one, as in the life threatening kind. That was pretty interesting and definitely helped separate the two books. Still, I felt like there was a lot missing and things weren't all answered - or they were dismissed far too easily. I also wish Benji and Laney, who were supposed to be the focus of the story, were in it more often.

Even though this didn't hold up to 180 Days, I still found enjoyment reading it and I will get the 3rd book when it is released.

It's no secret I love this series. The first in the series (180 days (Author Interview)) was our blogger book club read for last month, and I fell in love! I've even gifted a copy to a few of my friends in hopes I would have someone to talk to about it. The second in the series is no different. While I wasn't a sobbing mess through this book like I was while reading 180 days, I still loved the story. I was up until almost 2 am reading when I knew I had to get up with my toddler in the morning. It was worth it. This whole series has been excellent. It is a bit chick-flick romancy, but I just can't get enough. Benji and Laney were just beyond adorable. I also love how Ridener always talks about serious topics in her books. The talk of mental health issues in this book really hit home. Dealing with depression is no joke, and it's not something you can just snap out of. 90 days painted a realistic look at the thoughts that go through a person fighting depression's head. I can't wait to read the third in the series. Side note: This is the first book I've read with my name in it. Alisha and it even has my brother's name, Devin. I just realized that this morning. Those are both pretty rare names haha.

So I'm kinda sorta totally in love with these characters. I enjoyed the first book and couldn't wait to spend more time with the McIntosh family and their friends. *cough*especially Benji *cough*

I wound up loving 90 Days even more. We get to see more of the family's back story and the struggles Laney hides behind a perfect smile. In the midst of her sister's wedding stress, family tensions, and secrets, she's about to break.

Enter Benji Palmer. *swoon* With his knock 'em dead smile, that friggin' lip ring, and his charming personality, how could Laney not be swept off her feet? But it's not all hearts and flowers in Prairie Town. Someone is out to ruin her sister's big day and bring trouble to their door step.

Ridener explores some heavy topics with a lot of empathy and realism. The dark spots are well done and contrasted with plenty of wonderful moments. I laughed, sniffled, and blushed right along with Laney and Benji.

I can't wait to see where she's going to take us in book 3!

YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! This was the sequel that I have been waiting for. In this gripping sequel, we get Laney’s backstory and how she is dealing with everything. I have never wanted to hug a character so bad in my entire life. I can honestly say that I relate to her more than anything. I really love the way the characters interact with one another.
Benji has been through so much in his life that I just want to hug him as well. I really love the chemistry between Benji and Laney. They almost melted my kindle a couple of times. This story had it all: drama, love, steamy sex scenes, and action. There was a couple of times when I was reading the story that I actually felt fear for the characters.
90 Days does not disappoint. T.E. Ridener, you have gained a story stalker in me. I cannot wait to read the next story and to see what happens to my favorite bunch of characters. I highly recommend this book for everyone to read. I give it 5/5 Platypires.

I was gifted a copy of this book.

As Laney's sister, Lydia, prepares for her wedding to Callum, Laney starts to unravel. The only light in her life is Benji, Lydia's best friend. Benji fell in love with Laney a little bit more every time he saw her; he never thought, as a transgender man that he would fins someone to love, but something dark sits in Laney's soul, and he wants it gone. Not everyone in town wants them, or Lydia and Callum to be happy.

This is book two in the Prairie Town series. I strongly recommend you read 180 Days, which is book one, before this one. Its not absolutely necessary, but it gives you Lydia and Callum's story. It also gives you a picture of Prairie Town and the people in it.

Laney loves her sister, she really does but that dark spot on her soul grows bigger by the day and she can't stop it. And it IS dark. This book has a far darker turn to 180 Days, its no less a book for it. Indeed, I don't think Laney would be Laney without that dark spot from her past. Its a much more emotional book, too.

We watch Laney unravel, and Benji ravel her back up again. We watch the relationship between Laney, Lydia and Jeb, their brother, begin to disintegrate around their ears. And we watch those who wish harm to others carry out their plan.

Benji and Laney's story is sweet, its sexy, its hot and heavy, its deep and emotional. It made me cry in places and laugh out loud in others.

We catch up with Aggie/Agnes (I LOVE this character and can't wait for their story!) with Jeb, with Tula and her husband, the opening of their book shop and their upcoming arrival. Oh! By the way, I love love LOVED that Ridener was able to sneak a mention of her other series, Kadenburg, here.
Loved that!!

I can see Jeb's story coming together, and thats gonna be awesome!

90 Days is so beautifully written, I cannot, simply CANNOT fault! Ridener continues to hone her craft and it shows.

Best work yet, my lovely. Best. Work. Yet.

5 full and shiny stars.

I was hoping that the next installment of Prairie Town would have some background on the characters we all loved from 180 Days. I was not disappointed! While Lydia, Callum, Jebson, and everyone else are still in this book and have important parts, 90 Days focuses more on Laney, Lydia's sister.

Laney's past is obviously different from Lydia's, however it is very troubling (and relatable to many) and still affects her today. I don't want to give too much away, but let's just say Laney is NOT alone!

Then we have Benji. Beloved Benji. We begin to learn a bit more about our Benji in this book as well, including some back story. He has been through hell and wants nothing more than to love Laney. I mean, he does, but he wants to be able to show her.

We also see Mr. Devon Rose again. Up to his old tricks, and even some new ones.

I am afraid to say more, because I don't want to give too much away. Just know that I am anxious for book 3 to be released!

From the first word on the first page, I was sucked into Prairie Town again and felt a huge loss when the book was over. I love when an author is able to do this, because I have some form of ADD (I am almost positive!) however this series has garnered my attention and kept a hold of me all the way through.

Laney, by far, is my favorite character in this series so far. There was something about her in 180 Days, but I can't put my finger on just what it was that drew me to her. My heart broke (I did ugly cry!) when she went through what she did in this book. That darn T.E. Ridener got me!

Benji is my second favorite character, and not just because he loves Laney. He is written as an emotionally strong guy, but he also seems like such a huge teddy bear.

Time to admit something to you all.. Devon is the one I love to hate. I despise the way he treated Lydia and Laney in book one, and want to throttle him myself in book two, but I don't see that there could be a Prairie Town series without him!

90 Days is the story of Laney (Lydia's sister) and Benji (Lydia's friend). Lydia was unaware that Laney suffered from depression from childhood, and was actually admitted into hospital with it. Depression is an insidious illness that can strike without rhyme or reason, and I think that T.E. Ridener managed to convey this incredibly well. With Lydia freaking out over her perfect wedding, plus not knowing Benji's feelings, plus finding things out about both Lydia and Jeb and feeling completely left out, it came as no surprise to find that Laney was sliding back into depression. It is not predictable and makes no sense to others, but there is no denying the feeling of when you know you are slipping.

I loved Tula's bookshop and the names of the series and authors that were dropped! 😁

I still can't get my head around Ags, but I'm going with the flow more now and not trying to figure anything out each time.

Still very well written, with only a slight issue from the formatting gremlin who paid a visit with chapter headings, this book was completely enjoyable. Definitely recommended by me.

A gifted copy was given in exchange for an honest review.
Back to Prairie Town, we are about to attend Lydia and Callum's wedding but we still have to suffer a lot along with the McIntosh family.
This second instalment in the series is Laney’s story. She has suffered a lot in her life and she has a very low self-esteem. She is very unsecured and she thinks she doesn’t deserve to be loved because all the bad things she had done. She feels she doesn’t belong anywhere, but when she is with Benji this feeling disappears and she feels happy. Little by little she falls for him. Something similar happens to Benji. When he is with Laney, he feels he can make her happy and maybe he can be accepted in spite of his past. But when everything seems to go well for everybody, someone from their past appears and threaten to tell everybody about Lydia’s transition.
Another great book by T.E. Ridener where she focus again on the problems gays and transgenders have for being accepted by society. What a better world we’d have if people didn’t judge other people because of their race, colour, nationality or sexuality. I want to know more about this family and of course about Jeb’s story.

Romance again finds a member of the McIntosh Family

T.E. Ridener does it again another rollercoaster ride of emotions.
We again join the McIntosh Family in Prairie Town for the up coming wedding of Lydia and Callam. However like real-life lots of drama and excitement leading up to the main event. Starting with Benji and Ags move to the town. Benji developed feels for his BFF's sister Laney when they visited in the first book. Laney too has feelings for Benji but suffers from anxiety and depression and so doubt that she is good enough for him. Benji every the gentleman takes things slow until Laney is ready to open up to him.
The pair's budding romance isn't the only thing happening in the lead up to the wedding. When Lydia and her family start receiving threats about revealing her former identity. Will they find the culprit in time for the dream wedding and will Laney also gets the Happily ever after she deserves too.

I started reading this book right after finishing the first Prairie Town book, 180 Days, and I finished it the same night. While the first book focuses on Lydia and her journey toward love and acceptance, 90 Days steps up the action while not detracting from the complex characters first introduced in the previous book. Ridener doesn't shy away from the subject matter, but presents it in a realistic way. Focusing on Lydia's younger sister, Laney, and her best friend, Benji, 90 Days doesn't only deal with the complications and vulnerability that come with being transgendered, but also brings up the pain and darkness of mental illness and the pressure of peace-making and perfection.

I have read a few books now by this author & I can say that with every book she has wrote I can see the growth she has made. I find her books very enjoyable, wether it be about vampires, shifters or humans. Each story she writes is different, they are all believable in there own way. I read the first book, 180 Days & this is the next instalment & it is superb. The writing flows smoothly & it's a truly beautiful & heart felt read. Thanks to the author, all my emotions have escaped during the reading of 90 Days. And that is a fantastic feeling.

An enjoyable, but sometimes hard read

Lydia is back with her family and friends and it's the build up to her marriage to Callum. There are dark clouds in Laney's head and things really heat up with a flood and a kidnapping. It is as intense read, but worth it.
