I loved book 1 & 2 in the series, they both had kept me at the edge of my seat but unfortunately, this wasn’t as good as them! I expected something more for the conclusion but it was predictable! Actually, in this one, I was more intrigued by Shaun & Trev & Dev’s relationship and wanted to read more about them than solving the mystery (which I knew)! Told in single POV, 1st person, it’s the third (and last) installment in the "Vanished" series and has to be read in order. Overall, it was an okay read and hope you enjoy it more than me!

I'm sorry to say I was a bit disappointed with this final book.I absolutely loved the first two books I read them back to back,I couldn't read fast enough....I was so excited to read this one to get the outcome.

Henry and Tom are married, they've been together for 20 years and are just approaching their 21st Anniversary.
How would you feel if you woke up one morning to discover your partner of 20 years has vanished....well that's what happened to Henry.
After drinking too much on Sunday night Henry finds an empty bed when he wakes up on Monday morning. He's not, initially, too worried as Tom often goes for a run before work.Even as the day progresses, with no word from Tom and the fact Tom doesn't come home that night he's still only mildly concerned as it's not uncommon for Tom to work through the night....but by the end of Tuesday he goes into panic mode.
After all, they're very happy together, have a great lifestyle and a wonderful teenage adopted son..
Why would Tom just disappear????

As Henry starts to loose a grip on reality, situations and people don't appear as they should be.I was totally into this story and had numerous theories of my own going on...

I'm not saying anything more about the plot.In fact,I'm not going to even try and explain my rating.Normally,at this point in a review I would put my thoughts in a spoiler but I'm not.I think if you've read and loved the first two books (like I did)
you should read this and see if what happened with Tom works for you......

4.5 stars rounded up because WE HAVE THE ANSWERS.

The tale of what REALLY happened to Henry Cooley’s husband, Tom MacKinnon, has been solved! Mr. Quinn leads us on another high-speed chase with twists and turns everywhere and bring the Vanished trilogy to a very satisfying conclusion.

You will need to read all 3 books to know the whole story, so this cannot be read as a stand alone.

I loved Henry’s story of love and loss and joy and grief and pain. I loved the cast of characters we met along the way: CJ, Shawn, Dev and Trevor. This was a riveting story and I highly recommend it.

*Spoiler FREE review for all three books in the series*

There is no way to say much about this series without spoilers. I really hope that everyone kept their reviews spoiler free. The beauty of this story is in the unexpected turn of events, something that happens again and again in all three books. I suggest that you don't even read the blurbs for books 2 and 3.

Henry Cooley wakes up one morning, only to find his husband missing. Where is Tom, what happened to him, did he just vanish into thin air?

Everything is explained in this book and the mystery is solved.

There is no steam here, and I don't even know if it is a romantic story. But it has all the feels, action, surprises at every corner, and an amazing cast of secondary characters. And so much love!

I always trust Carter Quinn for a good story, but with this series he rocked my world.

Highly recommended!

OMG!! YEAH!! Thank f*** for that!! We now have the final solution to this riveting mystery / thriller. I have never been so pleased to get my hands on a book in my life. Seriously, once I got it I broke all curfews, bedtime or otherwise, as I just HAD TO KNOW what is up with Henry’s husband Tom.

This has been one hell of a ride from the very first book to the very last, cliff hangers and all. I have never been so invested in a story in my life and now we know how it all plays out. I feel I can now celebrate Christmas relieved that the questions of Tom’s death in the first book has now been answered.

It’s very difficult to write a review for such a book without giving anything away inadvertently. So all I will say is that part three has put us out of our misery of not knowing and I was definitely not disappointed at all. This third book is action packed, full of twists and turns that eventually lead to the final conclusion. Could I have guessed the final outcome? Absolutely no way. However, now I know it all makes perfect sense and feel satisfied with the way the complete story has turned out.

This story is for me not necessarily your traditional M/M romance. It’s a superb, well written, well plotted and totally intriguing mystery / thriller that in my books can compete with any of the greats. The characters in the book just happen to be gay. END OF! A first class, gay themed, mystery / thriller so to speak.

In the first book I didn’t trust Shaun, Henry’s best friend not one bit, by the end of the second book I wasn’t sure but in the third book I learned to love him and his love and respect for Henry even if it goes unrequited. But I admire Henry all the more for not giving up. Shaun gets himself in a right quandary on the romantic stakes although it all sorts itself out in the end. As for the investigative team of Trev, Dev and Shelby all characters were individual, real and wonderful. However, this series does not concentrate on the erotic it concentrates on the emotions and my goodness can Mr Carter provoke the feelz in this series! Henry’s love for his missing husband, real and palpable. His love for his son, concerned and protective. His own feelings an emotional helter-skelter of trying to keep a grip on reality and thinking he must be crazy.

I loved the way that Carter combines the private lives as well as the mystery aspect. Shaun, Shelby and Dev also have their emotional trial and tribulations to sort alongside trying to solve the mystery of Henry’s husband Tom. I loved the relationship that Henry has with his son CJ. Although CJ is now 19, you can feel the love they have for each other like any child / parent relationship whether adopted or not. Henry is always second guessing himself whether to fill CJ in on the whole story or not out of his love to protect him, whether he is doing the right thing or not with his kid. Natural enough for any parent I guess. But the truth is always the best policy and there are some fantastic and beautiful father / son dialogues. All characters being involved in the one main question, what is with Tom?

So for those of you have been waiting until all three books have been released, now’s your chance. Go forth and spend the money you won’t regret it. I promise you! As for me well I got the ending I wanted and cried for joy!! Best Christmas present EVER!

I’m sitting here, staring at my pages doc and have no fucking idea what to write. I just can’t write a detailed review without spoiling things.

Vanished is riveting, emotional, heartbreaking, breathtaking… the mystery is gripping, every single character is intriguing, and the writing… the writing absolutely mind blowing. All in all, everything I crave in a book!

What really matters, though… what happened to Tom, Henry’s beloved husband has been solved. And I hadn’t expected the outcome… not at all!

Important: If you want to understand what’s going on you need to read the Vanished series in order.

Buckle up and expect a wild ride to hell and back! Highly recommended!

Mmphh ... after all the mystery and suspense, the series is over. With a dash of Rambo and a helicopter, we get a resolution that ties together all the threads and we get the happy ending. But along the way in the series, there were a few odd situations that didn't get resolved, or were so quickly resolved it felt haphazard. For example,

On the whole, I really liked this series and especially loved the first book.

Review by The Blogger Girls.

We finally get to the bottom of Tom’s disappearance in this stunning conclusion. Never giving up, even after so many dead ends, twists and turns, Henry finally uncovers the truth behind Tom’s vanishing and I can say it wasn’t quite what I saw coming. There were signs as to who was behind it, but nothing prepared me for the truth.

Henry has the help of his friends, new and old, including a best friend who had always wished for more and new friends in his assistant and hired PI. Together, they uncover the details and take us on yet another roller coaster ride to the end. This entire story was riveting and heartbreaking, beautiful and heartwarming. It was unique and exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat. To say any more would be giving too much away. I absolutely loved how everything, every twist and turn, all ended up tied together in a beautiful bow.

I could not imagine going through what either of these guys did in any shape or form and most definitely recommend it.

Over all this series of three novels, one story, is a five star read.
Gripping and full of suspense, "Vanished" is a thriller mystery and the main character (first person narrative) just happens to be a gay man. I loved the fact that these novels were about plot and not sex, in fact there was no descriptive sex at all until the final book, and frankly for me, the sex jarred, there was no need for it to be there, it didn't further the plot in anyway what-so-ever, it just felt wrong.
Book three was my least favourite of the three novels and not because of the descriptive sexual scene. It felt as if a totally different author had taken over writing the story at times, it became overly, domestically detailed. Even so it was still a four star read and the red herring confused the hell out of me in Book 2.
Great trilogy. 5 Star as a whole.

Well, finally! We get all the answers to the most gripping mystery of the last year (at least, for me :D) - what happened to Tom?

This series was an emotional roller-coaster from beginning to the end.

Damn, what a ride.

That was disappointing. I kinda warmed up to the idea of only to have that disintegrate and replaced with a dumb-ass out of left field solution. The sexual tension and build up was all for not and just plain lousy. I skimmed the rest of the book in an effort not to DNF but I lost all passion for the book and could care less how it concluded.

A satisfying conclusion to this three part mystery. I sorta guessed the plot reveal, I felt a few loose ends were unresolved or glossed over.

I must say I was really disappointed with the final installment in the trilogy. It was like a cheesy soap opera, far-fetched to the point of serious eye-rolling.

Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance

***Note there may be spoilers for the first book in Vanished trilogy contained below***

I have decided to review books 2 and 3 of the Vanished series together for a reason. If you are anything like me, the first installment absolutely annihilated me. I was honestly scared to start book 2. After talking with the author at GRL in October, I decided to wait until Vanished 3 was in my hot little hands to read Vanished 2. Since I read them together, I am reviewing them together.

It's amazing how the author managed to paint a picture of a beautiful, strong, loving relationship that has laster for over twenty years, when half the people in that relationship were absent for most of the story. But he did. And I loved every second of it.
Troughout the three books we got it all; love, friendship, family, drama and a level of evil I am still struggling to grasp.
And, of course, the perfect ending everyone deserved.

Had the 3 pieces of this serial been issued as the novel it should have been, this would have been a 5 star. Great writing, story and characters, sleezy selling tactics.

Disappointing ending to a good series.

The first book was great. The second almost or maybe better. This third one however tripped right into the unbelievable and far fetched. Lets just say the author ran away from any kind of reality. Instead of a thoughtful exploration of grief and acceptance he decided to redeploy mission impossible whilst trying to shoehorn in some otherwise reasonable sex scenes.

Oh. My. God. I finished reading the final book of the Vanished series, and I honestly feel as though I’ve just run a marathon. What an intense, amazing read.

Looking back at the first two books, we saw Henry dealing, quite horribly, with the loss of his husband, Tom: the denial, the heart wrenching realization that Tom’s gone. We watched Henry move along with his life as though in a cloud, nothing seeming real anymore. The major cliffhangers at the end of each book told me this series would go out with a bang.

And it did! I’m gobsmacked!

I won’t give spoilers away, I never do, so all I’ll say is this was an edge of your seat, hang on for your life conclusion to an already powerful, emotional story. As I was reading, I geared myself up, ready for anything to happen. Is Tom alive? Will they be too late? Was he already dead? As information, clues and scenes unfolded, I couldn’t read fast enough.

What I loved most about this series, especially this last installment, is the writing. Mr. Quinn’s way with words makes you feel. This is definitely an emotionally driven story, and let me tell you, you feel everything. At times it’s so raw, it’s like a punch to the gut. To me, that’s a great storyteller.

The cast of characters really drove this story home. Of course, Henry and Tom are the main course, but the sides also had a story to tell. From Shaun (Henry’s best friend), to CJ (Henry and Tom’s adopted son), to Dev, Trevor and Shelby, they all play a significant role here. It wouldn’t have been the same without them. I’m really curious to know if there is any consideration for a spinoff with Shaun, Dev and Trevor? I think their story is just beginning, dontcha think so Mr. Quinn?

For those who haven’t read this series, I absolutely encourage you to do so. It’s not your typical romance, so if you’re looking for sugarplums and gumdrops, look elsewhere. But for readers who love a good mystery/thriller, this one is definitely for you. I can’t emphasize enough what a fantastic read this was.

Go. Read. It. Now.

Overall, I’m sad it’s ended, but thrilled I was along for the ride. The conclusion was everything I hoped for, and more. The build up to the ending, the mystery, the characters, the writing, all top notch.

Well done, Mr. Quinn, well done.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.5 stars

Whew, you guys this series is so exciting! After two jaw dropping cliffhangers, we finally get resolution here to just what happened to Tom. I can’t say enough about how excellent this series is and how well Quinn managed to develop the mystery over the three books. I loved that this story constantly kept me guessing. I truly had no idea what could have happened to Henry and, at the same time, when it is all revealed, it ends up making perfect sense in the context of the larger story. Honestly, I loved that I couldn’t even guess what an HEA for Henry might mean until well into the third book. Is it getting Tom back? Is it finding love with someone else? Or is it just finally getting closure on the whole thing? I loved that it could be any of these options and they would have all worked with the story.

I will admit, things were a tiny bit slow here at the start. I found the story fascinating throughout, but I was anxious for some of the real action to begin. Yet, it totally makes sense that it takes time for them to develop leads and use the clues to learn more about what was really happening. And the resolution is exciting, suspenseful, creative, and really rewarding.

As with my other reviews for this series, I am keeping things short and simple here. I don’t want to give anything away because this is such an amazing suspense story and it is so cleverly done. So I would highly recommend the Vanished series and definitely encourage everyone to give it a try.
