Rem Jennings glanced at her watch nervously. She knew it would take a while before she got home, but she really wanted to make sure she was there in time to see her little brother off into the world. It was the worst job she could have ever gotten, but it was the only thing she could get to pay the bills and still afford the luxurious lifestyle that she had always wanted. However, the job was a serious drag, even if it was a lucrative one. She was tired of being unable to decide her fate and annoyed that she had to be thrown onto the whims of other people all the time in order to survive.
Roberta hummed to herself as she changed the sign on the door from closed to open. It was her favorite time of the day, because she was able to look out peacefully over the items in her vintage antique and furniture store. It had been her dream ever since she was a child to have such a shop, when she met Alex, and realized that they both shared the same dream, it was as if fate had brought them together. They had known each other for three years at that point, and had been dating for most of that time. He was a handsome and kindhearted man, and he loved her deeply.
Lester Westing prowled his courtyard. He thought he had heard a noise, but he wasn't sure where it had come from. It could be as harmless as a rabbit or as sinister as a prowler.
