The Christmas dance party begins, and Mizuki looks for a chance to give Sano a present. Later, Mizuki flies home for New Year's and an unexpected reunion with Gilbert, her first love. Though time has passed and her romantic hopes are now focused on Sano, Mizuki discovers that this old flame hasn't been completely snuffed out in her heart!

Hisaya Nakajo (中条比紗也) was a Japanese shōjo manga artist. She also used the names Peco Fujiya and Ryou Fumizuki for doujinshi with her circle, Daisanteikoku.

Not only Japan, but the whole world is the size of a city block. Of course, Mizuki stumbles across Sano and Nakatsu while she is in California visiting her parents.

And of course her attending a boys' school isn't revealed, either. So many people know the secret by now, it's getting more than a little silly (over and above the silliness of the premise to begin with).

This series is fun, easy reading, though over ten volumes in there still isn't anything that's really wow-ing me about it, and I'm baffled that it was one of the most popular shojo manga of its time. I've seen all of these characters and situations many times before.

I binge read all of Hana Kimi. It's easy to see why that is so easy once you get into the second chapter of the series. Hana Kimi is filled with complex character moments, tension, and fun. All the characters come to life and its hard to put the story down. I've read my fair share of manga over the years and will continue to. I have the feeling that Hana Kimi will remain one of my favorites. I can't wait to get in a reread.

Volume 12 turns the chaos dial up to eleven. There’s sports, drama, and about three different love triangles all bumping into each other. Nakatsu continues his Olympic-level denial, while Mizuki somehow keeps smiling through an ever-growing mountain of lies. Four stars for comedy gold and perfectly timed interruptions to any serious moment.

Pesta dansa tiba. Nakatsu dengan penuh suka cita mengajak Mizuki berdansa. Tapi akhirnya dia malah pingsan melihat dada Mizuki. Sedangkan Mizuki mengira Nakatsu pingsan karena melihat keseksian Hibari (bwakakaka).

Juri benar-benar menyabotase Mizuki. Ia menumpahkan jus anggur ke bagian belakang gaun Mizuki. Beruntung ada teman yang membantu memodifikasi gaun Mizuki. Ia pun bisa berdansa dengan Sano dan akhirnya mendapat gelar pasangan dansa terbaik. Nakatsu pun kejang-kejang menyesali mengapa ia sampai pingsan di tengah acara. Poor Nakatsu.

Setelah itu, menjelang liburan tahun baru, Mizuki mendapat surat dari kakaknya. Surat itu hanya berisi satu kalimat: "Pulanglah" dan disertai selembar tiket ke USA. Mizuki langsung cemas mengira sesuatu yang buruk terjadi pada orangtuanya. Namun, ternyata pesan itu begitu pendek karena kakaknya terburu-buru saat mengirimkannya.

Yang mengejutkan, Gilbert, teman lama Mizuki yang pernah menyelamatkannya saat ia pingsan kelaparan waktu kabur dari rumah, datang ke rumahnya. Gilbert punya masalah jantung dan baru menjalani operasi berisiko. Rupanya ia menjalani perawatan di RS tempat Shizuki praktik. Tampaknya Gilbert masih menyukai Mizuki.

Namun, yang paling mengejutkan adalah... Mizuki bertemu Sano dan Nakatsu di Amerika! Onoooooo ae xD Lu lagi. Lu lagi. Keduanya sedang mengikuti studi banding di UC Berkeley yang diadakan untuk 10 atlet terbaik dari Ohsaka. Mizuki langsung panik begitu ayahnya mengundang keduanya makan di rumah. Ia langsung histeris setiap ayahnya menyebutnya sebagai "putriku". 🤣 Kocak nian. Aku paling suka humor di volume ini. Pure. Enggak mengandalkan fanservice.

I love the dance. Mizuki and Sano had some great moments this volume. Plus, we get a glimpse of Mizuki’s family in Berkeley, California. I love Sano through and through, so on principle, I can’t like Gil. However, Gil is pretty swoon worthy and has such a great back story. (In hindsight, this series has too many love triangles.) 4.5/5

This volume is one of the stand-outs. It seems like they just keep getting better as the story goes on. This is the second half of the dance arc (which is just too cute) and we get a glimpse of Mizuki’s life in America. The tension added from Gil is a great addition to the story.

Mizuki attends the Christmas ball dressed as a girl. Nakatsu quickly faints so she gets to dance with Sano. Just as I was getting frustrated with the agonizing slowness of their relationship development, something cool happens. She gets called home to visit her family during a break. She leaves a little disappointed she won’t be able to spend her break with Sano. She does run into her old friend (and first crush) Gilbert though. The two of them are spending a companionable afternoon out when she runs into Sano and Nakatsu. They just happen to be in the states for some trip. They sit down and have a bite to eat when her dad appears and invites everyone over for dinner… and to stay the night. So, Sano meets the parents! Mizuki spends half the time trying to keep the conversation in English so the boys won’t find out she’s a girl, but Sano understands more than she gives him credit for. He definitely understands her confessing that she lives as a boy in Japan to Gilbert. Sano soon realizes Gilbert has some feelings for her, and he doesn’t like it. Looks like there’s going to be a little bit of fighting over Mizuki.

Thank goodness for something exciting to read about. I wasn’t sure how much longer I could read about pointless balls and five thousand different situations that test Mizuki’s ability to cover up the fact that she’s a girl. In fact, I’m growing very impatient with this series. I’m going to keep trying to finish it though. I hate to give up on a manga series that can be so cute sometimes.

When I first saw the cover of this volume I was like " =O That looks like Leonard DiCaprio!" Then he was introduced as "Gilbert" and I was pretty sure that was a character Leo played as... (it was Johnny Depp actually. Close but no cigar) And then Hisaya Nakajo blurbed in one of the side sections how she based him on Leo. Called it. XD

The storyline was pretty cute. The main men geting jealous. Rekindled childhood friendships. Adorable. :3

Oh my god!!!1! I loooove this seriesss!! It's my favorite shoujo series and my second favorite manga series of ALL TIME! I just love everything about it!! I would totally do what Mizuki did.. though I don't think I could get away with it.... especially not in a Japanese school... -_- WELL! That's just not fair. Anyway, It's sooooo funny! AH! It's all so great! I can't contain the fan-girl in me! :O I even loved the TV series! (Especially the Taiwanese one! Ella and Jiro were hilarious!)

I Still amazed at how Umeda-sensei and Rio-chan parents looks, sooo damn young author-nim. Did they really on their 50? it doesn't seems like that at all :|

Very, very nice. The ball had a very sweet conclusion, and then it was pretty cool to see Mizuki finally go home, and to get a look at the rest of her family. I love her dad. It's pretty cool how Gil has come back into the story too. And then, y'know, I just love Sano and Mizuki. So much cute.

This story gets better and better. I want Sano and Mizuki to get together so bad. I definitely love their relationship as friends. I wonder how much longer Sano can keep quiet about knowing Mizuki is a girl and how he really feels about her. Hope I can get book 13 soon.

E finalmente teve a dança..aêeeee..Torci muito..
Só não gostei muito da continuação da história, a mangaká usou de muitas "coincidências" para andar com o enredo, mas me incomodou um pouco.
ps. Que mentiroso safado! Eu tinha até gostado dele na minha história do passado, mas agora não o suporto.
