Fall in love with his best friend's sister? Danny Tortelli took care of that years ago. Protecting and caring for her became his sole purpose the day her life was rocked to the core. His ultimate goal was to show her how a real man loved a woman. He only had to bide his time.A guy like Danny didn't give up on what he wanted, and what he wanted was Elle.
Unforgettable Damage
Fall in love with her brother's best friend? Elle Stratton had buried her love for Danny for years. Damaged by her decisions and scarred by the baggage of her past, she believed she didn’t deserve him. Self doubt blinded her to how he felt. After all, he’d seen her at her ultimate worst and witnessed the disaster of her life as it unfolded. Why would he want her?
Unimaginable Desire
He refused to wait any longer to prove a future with him was more than a possibility. She was stuck in events of the past. His hardest task was peeling back the layers of her self-preservation. Her biggest challenge was accepting someone could love her. Their time had come, and no one would stand in his way.
Gina Sheldon is a devoted wife, busy mom of twin girls, and the proud owner of a small business. She often travels the very streets of Boston she writes about in her debut novel, “The Rub Down.” One thing she refuses to leave home without is her Kindle. Their relationship borders on obsessive. As a beta reader and blogger, Gina shares her love of books with others, and her love of words has now carried her into the field of self-publishing. When she’s not reading or writing, she can be found surrounded by family and friends, enjoying a glass of wine, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, or both.
What I love most about this book is the characters and their friendships!!!
Elle is strong and sassy Danny is protective, loyal and has a funny side (the perfect book boyfriend) Luke is the worrywart Alexa is full of cheer and Addie is a sarcastic spitfire!
I want to be friends with them and hangout on Thursday nights when they all get together at The Black Rose!
I am still thinking about this book and characters days after reading it. I heard Rachel Platten's song "Stand by You" and immediately thought of Danny & Elle ♡
A great book is one you continue thinking about and recommend to friends. I highly recommend you get to know everyone who works at The Rub Down!
I am looking forward to see what Ms. Sheldon has in store for us next!
{ I am thankful to have received an ARC for my honest review }
Ms. Sheldon's second novel doesn't disappoint!! I fell in love with this crew in The Rub Down, and was thrilled to find out Elle would get her own book. I loved the story between her and Danny! Sheldon did such a great job showing their transition from friends to lovers, which happens to be one of my favorite literary tropes! Elle was faced with some difficult decisions in her life, and came out to be such a stronger person for it. And the ending was perfect! I can't wait to read more from this crew!!
Our Time is the sophomore novel from author Gina Sheldon and the second book in her Rub Down Series. Our hero and heroine were introduced in the first novel, The Rub Down, and now it's Danny and Elle's turn to tell their story.
Oh these characters. Oh this story. Our Time is a friends to lovers story about a girl who has feelings for her brother's best friend and a guy who has feelings for his best friend's sister. At the same time, Our Time is so much more than that. Nothing could have prepared me for the depth of heartache and angst I would experience while reading this novel.
Elle's character challenged me throughout the book. In moments of immaturity or naivety, I wanted to scream at her to grow up. How silly because in those moments she was nothing more than a girl who had just stepped into adulthood. Other times, my heart weighed heavy with her regret and turmoil. I've never experienced the kind of loss she's endured or the aftermath and consequences that comes with that kind of loss, but Sheldon's words forced me to experience the guilt and self-loathing.
I am itching to spill the beans on the secrets within this plot, but I want readers to be blindsided like I was. What I will divulge is this -- Our Time is full of unexpected challenges and twists coupled with a beautiful romance that blooms and grows with each passing chapter. There's a balance between the darkness and light that makes this something every reader can enjoy. This is Danny and Elle's story, but their lives are intertwined with Luke and Alexa's (from The Rub Down), so we get insight into what's happening in their world as well.
Gina Sheldon has written another treasure with her second release. The Rub Down made me a fan of her writing, and Our Time only set the bar that much higher. She tackled some serious content in The Rub Down and definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone with the skeletons in Elle's closet. Sheldon isn't afraid to create characters with atypical flaws and faults, but does it with finesse so any reader will enjoy the story. Pick up Our Time today and discover the beauty in Danny and Elle's story!
Our Time is the second book I have read from Gina Sheldon. This is her second book in her Rub Down series. You meet all the characters in book one but you could read them as standalones if you wanted. I absolutely LOVED the Rub Down and was giddy with excitement waiting for the second book and she most definitely didn’t disappoint.
Danny is part owner of The Rub Down and a masseuse while Elle is an aesthetician at The Rub Down and is Luke’s (The other partner) sister. Now Elle has been through the wringer in life so she tends to keep to herself and works long hours to keep herself busy and her life organized. Danny has been in love with Elle for years but he’s never acted on his feelings because he knew she was in such a hard place. It was also difficult because she was his best friend’s / partner’s sister. That’s one relationship you never want to mess with! After watching her crumble all those years ago and holding her when she needed it the most, he couldn’t help himself but want her. Fortunately, Elle wants him too but never thought he was into her.
The bond between Elle and Danny is strong from the very beginning. They are close friends and both have dealt with her past which only made their relationship stronger. They both kind of do the awkward dance where there’s sexual tension but yet both deny it and try to stay in the friend zone. Someone from Elle’s tough past pops up and she starts heading toward her downward spiral again but Danny and her brother won’t allow it.
Elle is such a strong character. The things she faced when she was younger and the decisions she made were not easy ones but they show how strong she is even though she thinks she’s weak and her life is out of control. I loved seeing her take back her life and show everyone the strong woman she is. Danny’s devotion to her is totally swoon worthy. The story is beautiful and will capture your heart. I can’t wait to see who is getting their HEA next at The Rub Down!
I have known Gina Sheldon for years at to my surprise last year she wrote a book!! I was floored (in a good way) that she was so talented!! To pour out your heart and soul into a story is not for everyone. Her first novel The Rub Down was a good story. I liked it, but I didn’t love it. So when she announced a second novel I thought hmmmm… should I read?? Will she be able to show growth as a writer or will this be one of those that I like, not love? Well, I am so happy I read! Her writing technique has grown tremendously and I just fell in love with this story!! She nailed it with this one and I wanted my own Danny as he was very swoon worthy!! This one you definitely have to check out! There was no sophomore slump for Ms Sheldon!
Danny and Elle have known each other for years. With Danny being Elle’s older brother’s best friend, they have grown up together. Elle has always fantasied about Danny and how she could be the one. But with Danny’s reputation as a male whore, she didn’t see that fantasy becoming reality anytime soon. What Elle doesn’t know is that Danny has always had a crush on her. Never acting on it, he has always looked out for her but since she was his best friends little sister, she was always off limits.
I just love stories that are friends to lovers as they tend to have more layers to the story as this one is no exception! The road for Danny and Elle is not an easy one. With plenty of road blocks with drama, angst, and heartbreak you will wonder if they will ever there. I just loved this one and I cannot wait to see what else Ms Sheldon has up her sleeve! 5 huge stars for Our Time!
Gina Sheldon has brought another great book in the Rub Down Series with Our Time. This time we get the story of Elle and Danny, and what a story it is!
Elle Stratton is a strong, caring, determined, and such a feisty woman. And just like everyone she has a past, but she is keeping some things close to her heart from her soon to be sister in law and new friend. Although her family knows everything, there are still things she even keeps from them- like how she still wants to close in on herself and never come out. But there is one person who just will not let her do that and that is the one man who owns her heart and it’s the one man that she is determined she is now going to finally let go of. Elle has loved Danny for as long as she can remember, but it’s time for her to let go of her crush on him and find someone that can help her heal her heart. But will her secrets keep her from doing that or will the man that she has always loved finally see her in a new light.
Danny Tortelli has always been protective over Elle, but the one thing that he has guarded even from his own best friend and business partner, Luke, is just how much he has fallen in love with his little sister Elle Stratton. Now Danny has come to the realization that it is time to make his move and get the woman he wants, but when Elle’s past comes back to haunt her can he be the one to protect her or will he lose her forever?
This was my first time reading a book from this author and I would read her books again. This is the 2nd book in the series and it didn't matter that I hadn't read the first but I enjoyed this one so much I brought it straight away.
This book had me engrossed from start to finish. Had it finished in less then a day as I couldn't put it down. This book was brilliantly written and the relationships and friendships between all the characters kept you drawn in.
Elle and Danny have been friends for years, he's her brother Luke's best friend and when she was at her lowest point he helped pick up the pieces and put her back to together. They have both loved each other from a far for years, everyone (But Luke) can see the love between them but neither wants to admit it.
After Elle gets slightly drunk on a night out she lets her guards down and tries seduce Danny. He's too much of a gentleman to accept her advances, it kills him but he wants her in every way possible, totally and forever but he wants her sober first. They are all set to go to away for a weekend to open another branch of The Rub Down and he decides now is the time for them.
Finally being together is like 2 halves rejoining and they both feel so complete now. They just have to tell Luke and deal with someone dark from Elle's past.
Highly recommend this to anyone, Gina Sheldon now has a new fan and I can't wait to read the next book
What can be said about Our Time? I love the story line, love the characters, I love that it was different from other books that I read. I love the brother's best friend aspect, overall... I loved the book! Gina Sheldon takes you on an adventure through Elle's past. Elle needs to get through terrible things that happened in her past in order to move on to her future. She knows this, everyone knows this. Elle and Danny have secretly been in love with one another for a long time, but neither of them did anything about it. Why? Elle didn't want to ruin the friendship they had and Danny was scared of rushing into things when he knew she still needed to work through stuff. Can they get past their fears and become the couple they're meant to be?
I received a ARC in exchange for a honest review. 4* read. This is the second book in The Rub Down series but can be read as a standalone. This is Danny and Elle's story. They've been friends for years and at their lowest points they both fall in love with the other, nor realizing the other feels the same to. Will they both wake up and see whats in front of them or will they not want to ruin their friendship by pushing for more? You'll have to read it to find out. This was a really emotional rollercoaster of a read that had many ups and downs and i'm looking forward to the others in this series.
An amazing read! Gina Sheldon has once again made us fall in love with these hard working funny characters. Elle is a realistic character who is not 100% sure that she deserves love let alone the love of the man she has a mad crush on after a few life changing decisions in her youth. This book is both heart wrenching while still keeping things lighthearted as you cheer for Elle to come into her own and embrace the passion and strength you know is inside of her. And if Im being honest I would have no issue taking home a Danny of my own. Sexy and funny Our time should be on your short list of must read.
An awesome 4.5 stars for this book!! I loved this book as much as The Rub Down. This Author writes amazing characters that make me want to live in the book and hang out and be friends with them. Elle is an amazing young woman; I love strong women in the books that I read! Danny is absolutely swoon worthy and there are some pretty hot sex scenes that had me trying to catch my breath at times! ;-) I highly recommend this book and hope there are more to come. I'm definitely a fan!
An ARC was kindly provided by the Author for an honest review.
I received a free copy In exchange for an honest review. I absolutely freaking loved this book. Amazing read highly recommend!! I'm a sucker for best friends little sister and Gina did an amazing job. I loved the characters and the strength that Elle found within get herself. I could not put this book down it sucked me right in. This was my first by Gina and it will not be my last.
Our Time is my first book from Gina Sheldon though it is the second book in her The Rub Down series. Each book is a standalone story with interconnected characters and can be read out of order. What really drew me to this book was the blurb and the fact that this is my favorite trope! I just can't help myself when it comes to girls falling in love with their brother's best friend! While there was a lot to like here, this one didn't fully deliver on what I had been hoping for.
Elle has been in love with her brother's best friend Danny for years. But with the baggage from her past, she has always believed that she didn't deserve him. Danny has been in love with Elle for years also, but he knew that after everything she has been through that he needed to wait for her to be ready for him. Tired of waiting, Danny can no longer stay away from her and decides it is time to claim her. But when Elle's past shows back up, Danny must do whatever it takes to keep her from hiding away from the world again.
I liked Elle and Danny a lot. I was drawn right into their story and couldn't put the book down. These two were great for one another, and it was obvious that the connection between them was special. They were perfect for each other on every level, and the chemistry between them was as strong as their emotional bond. I loved Danny's unwavering support for Elle, and how he had been there for her through everything. I did feel as though things got a bit cheesy at times though. Things were overly sweet at times and once they had admitted their feelings to one another (which was pretty early on in the story) they were always telling each other that they loved one another. It was a bit overkill, and got to be very repetitive.
The other thing that kept me from loving this story was that it was just a bit too smooth sailing here. Like I said it was very sweet and while that is great, there wasn't a lot of drama or conflict. It kept the story from ever really going anywhere and not a lot actually happened. I kept waiting for something big to come up and see how these two would handle things, but it just never went there though there was the potential for so much more. So while I liked this story, I didn't love it and wished for something more. It got to the point with all the sweetness and I love you's that I found myself wanting to skim a lot in the last half of the book. I think that contemporary fans who enjoy very sweet stories might enjoy this book, but if you are looking for a deeper story this might not be the one you are looking for.
Our Time is the second book in this series and even though it is a standalone, I recommend reading The Rub Down before reading this book. I fell in love with Luke in The Rub Down because he is such a sweetheart. Well, Danny ranks right up there with him.
In the first book, we get fun and easy going Danny who helps Luke run the spa and I love their friendship. They are true friends who are more like brothers than anything else. Elle is Luke's younger sister, who has always crushed on Danny. Never thinking he felt the same, she kept it hidden. But, he did share her feelings and you get all the beautiful emotions of them falling deeper for each other. So many feelings are brought out in this book. Besides their friendship and romance, Luke and Alexa are still keeping it hot, and we have hilarious Addie who you won't soon forget.
Between Elle's past coming back to haunt her and trying to hide their feelings from big brother Luke, they keep their relationship hidden as long as possible. Until Elle finds herself in danger and here comes protective, hot, and sexy Danny.
Danny and Elle are perfect for each other and their chemistry is just WOW! I loved getting more of Luke, Alexa, and the rest of their friends blended in with this book. Not many sequels are as good as the first and I applaud Gina for making that happen with this book. I'm looking forward to her future books, maybe Addison's story? (Hint, hint)

3.5 Stars Grab your e-reader and towel and head to the beach or pool. Our Time is the perfect "beach read". Sweet, sexy and funny, Our Time brings back Luke and Alexa from The Rub Down (The Rub Down #1) but focuses on Luke's sister, Elle, and best friend and The Rub Down partner, Danny, in this warm friends to lovers sequel.
Danny and Elle have been close friends for a long time. Almost everyone seems to know the two have feelings for one another past friendship, except for them. The Rub Down is expanding and opening a new location, everyone is taking on more responsibility which thrusts Elle into the lime light, bringing up old wounds from her past. With only a few knowing what she has been through, Elle struggles to balance work, love and friendship. Some strange calls and surprise appearances add a bit of mystery.
The relationship between Danny and Elle is so sweet. There is a genuine love and respect between them that makes you feel all warm and gooey. Though Elle may be the one needing a shoulder to lean on, she is there for Danny just as much as he is for her. I think though she may not always see it, she is just as strong as him.
I'm looking forward to the next couple's book in this series. Hoping for Jess and Dennis, but will take Addison and... ;)
This is the first book i have read by Gina Sheldon, I didn’t realise this was a second in a series and I feel I would have liked this better had I read the other book first.
This book was a little too slow for me, it kind of lost my interest but I pushed on and made myself finish it. I felt like once Danny and Ellie got together the story got a lot better.
The two main characters loved each other for years but skate around their feelings for each other because of circumstances beyond their control. Elle was pretty beaten down from her previous relationship and the things she had to overcome after the breakdown of it whereas Danny didn’t want to betray his friend by having a relationship with his younger sister.
The characters in this while ok didn’t evoke any real feelings from me, of course i felt sad for what Elle had endured but I didn’t think they were very memorable, Addie on the other hand had me in stitches and I think I will remember her long after this book.
Who doesn't love a good brother's best friend that you've been secretly crushing on for years and now you get to finally kiss (among other things) type of story? I loved it. Danny was so supportive and sweet to Elle for years when she needed him most. She went through a lot and he was always there. Oh and did I mention sexy, he was ridiculously sexy. There sure we're some hot scenes in this one too. Overall great read.
True love conquers all & makes you stronger - must rad
After reading Rub Down, I knew I had to read this book, too. Danny & Elle' story is one of true love, overcoming the past & forging on with the future. This book is a sweet romance that makes you want what special connection they have. Love can make you stronger. I was a little disappointed with the ending, but I really enjoyed reading this story. I look forward to reading more from Gina.
