From the author of Huckleberry Hearts, an Amish beekeeper torn between two men must decide who gets to keep her heart and who gets the sting of rejection.

Smart, kind, and good-hearted, the three Christner girls are affectionately known as the Honeybee Sisters in the beloved Wisconsin Amish community where, under the care of their unconventional aunt, they’ve grown into skilled beekeepers—and lovely, sought-after young women . . .

Though she has blossomed into a beauty, Lily Christner doesn’t really believe it. Deep down, she still feels like a lonely, gawky teenager. Maybe that’s why she’s all but promised herself to Paul Glick, the one boy who never teased her in her awkward girlhood—unlike Dan Kanagy, whose creative name-calling left her in tears many a time. Now he’s back in town after two years away—and being surprisingly sweet, suspiciously attentive—and making Lily unsettlingly yet deliciously nervous. It seems Dan wants Lily’s forgiveness—and her heart. But can he convince her—not to mention her protective schwesters and aendi—that despite the past, her future lies with him . . . ?

Includes tasty recipes!

The three Christner girls have been cared for by Aunt Bitsy since their parents died when they were young. Together they run their business of beekeepers and sell honey which is sold through the Glick market. Paul Glick is determined that Lily will be his wife and in many ways Lily feels she owes him for he was kind to her at school, unlike Dan Kanagy who constantly called her names and teased her. Know as the Honeybee Sisters ,Lily, Poppy and Rose are all hard workers devoted to their aunt and their bees. After two years away Dan comes back to the Wisconsin Amish community. Why is Dan now acting friendly and helpful to Lily and her family? And what should Lily do about Paul and his pressure for them to marry?
Honey sweet this story took a little while to draw me in and I found Lily far too gullible. But then when someone is constantly undermining her in words and deeds, it is u understandable how confidence and self worth can be torn apart. Lily is a generous and caring, warm-hearted so it is easy to want the best for her.
Aunt Bitsy is a very interesting character, even if frowned on by some in the Amish community. She is devoted to her three girls. People all have their blind spots that sometimes overshadow the truth, as evidenced by more than one character in this story. There are likeable characters, some misguided and a couple who are just despicable. Despite some initial negative thoughts I was surprised how much I ended up enjoying this in the end. As well as learning a lot about beekeeping there are several honey based recipes at the end for those so inclined. A sweet enjoyable read.

I enjoyed this Amish romance tremendously. We meet three sisters living with their aunt, who chatters about Van Halen concerts and brandishes a shotgun at unwanted visitors. We learn about beekeeping and honey gathering, the worth of organic honey and the effort of keeping bees disease and mite free. Some recipes are provided at the back for foods enjoyed during the story, like a bee-sting cake and honey and lavender goodies.

The romance involves a lad who was cheeky during school and has come back to live near the sisters, but the girl he's set his heart on, Lily, is being formally courted by another man, more severe and controlling. Can people grow up to be more mature and genuine, or is the lad really just after the family farm as rumour says? And is Lily right to stick with the respectable man who dislikes her wearing a yellow dress?

A running story of a nuisance becoming a harassment is threaded through the sequence of books about the Honeybee sisters. Enjoy and learn life lessons. This tale is suitable for women of any age from twelve upwards.

4 1/2 stars - Top Pick

Both heart-clenchingly romantic and wryly hilarious, Beckstrand’s latest novel solidly sets the stage for another charming series. A cast of winsome characters, including the unconventionally delightful Aunt Bitsy, traipses across the pages and into readers’ hearts. Warmly written, well-paced, and brimming with affection, this is sure to become another fan favorite.

Sweet As Honey by Jennifer Beckstrand is a delightful Amish novel and the first book in the Honeybee Sisters series. I loved it. The minute I began reading, I just knew that Sweet As Honey was speaking straight to my heart.
The characters were all wonderful - from the three Honeybee sisters to the handsome Dan to the feisty Aunt B and even the cat Farrah Fawcett. There is an energy in the novel and it's humour is infectious. As the reader I really felt that I was witnessing the story unfold rather than just reading a tale.
There is an overwhelming sense of love and family in the novel. The characters live out 1 Corinthians: 13 - their love is inclusive. Everything they do is motivated by love.
Gotte was at the very heart of the novel. The sisters were all practising Amish. Their Aunt B had lived among the Englisch for twenty years. The two world's do collide at times as Aunt B with her strangely coloured hair and her tattoos does not fit in to the Amish view of appearances. "They (the Amish) were suspicious of her colourful hair and her tattoos and her fondness for having conversations with Gotte in public places." This reminds the reader that God does not look at our outward appearance, He is far more concerned with the state of our heart.
The novel deals with the theme of verbal bullying. Years of abuse can make a person feel worthless as they believe the words spoken over them. "She was starved for confidence." Our worth is never found in another person but in God. "You will never find out what God wants for your life by asking another person." It is always important to believe what God tells us and to listen to Him.
Within the novel there is a strong work ethic. The family pulls together to harvest the honey. They work as a well oiled unit with everyone knowing exactly what is required of them.
The story has the theme of growing confidence and breaking free from the restraints of the past. With love and kindness, characters can begin to bloom.
I absolutely loved As Sweet As Honey. I particularly liked the humorous Aunt B with her shotgun and meat cleaver. Her attempts at catching a mouse were particularly funny. I loved the way her dialogue bounced off the other characters.
Jennifer Beckstrand has a delightful way of writing so I can 'see' the characters and settings. I am walking through the novel rather than just reading.
I cannot praise Sweet As Honey highly enough. It's such a wonderful novel in which I became totally engrossed. I would normally feel sad when having finished such a fabulous novel but as I know I have books two and three to follow - bring it on! I know what I'm reading next!
A wonderful, wonderful story.

Have you ever read a book that was very enjoyable but at the same time made you as mad as a wet hen? Sweet as Honey was that book for me.

The main character Lilly, is a beautiful young Amish woman who has very low self-esteem as a result from typical childhood growing pains. She feels honored to have captured the eye of Paul, a young Amish shopkeeper. But, yes a huge but, he is a narcissistic jerk. He loves telling Lilly things to make her feel worse about herself and then builds her back up by making her express her gratitude towards him among other things. If I could have I would have reached into the book, twisted his ear until he was on the ground begging for mercy. My blood pressure rises thinking about him. Luckily for Lilly, a childhood friend, Dan arrives and starts trying to make amends with Lilly. Dan is one the reasons Lilly doesn’t think highly of herself. Being the goofy boy he was in his younger years he started giving Lilly nicknames. He did it because he liked her and wanted her attention. She thought he was making fun of her. Who will Lilly choose?

My favorite part of all of Jennifer Beckstrand’s books is the quirky older Amish woman. In this series it is Aunt Bitsy. What a joy! Ex-Amish who came back to the faith to raise her orphaned nieces but refuses to give up everything English. Blue hair and fake tattoos to boot!

I am ready to move on to book two and see who the next Honey Bee sister is for love.

This is the first of three books about the Christner girls, and their delightful Aunt Bitsy, and their means of support raising Bees. When we first meet them, Dan Kanagy dares to walk on the dandelions, oh no, a terrible infraction.
Dan is not very well liked, by the Christner family, but especially Lily, as he had teased and insulted her all through her school years. Lily, has very low esteem, but a heart of gold, she took it upon herself to go and read to Dan’s Grandmother, when her health was failing.
Lily found comfort in Paul Glick, a chunky self-important, young man, who constantly reminds her what a horrible person Dan is and what he has said about her.
You will want to go and help Lily as you see her verbally abused time and time again, and it is not what you think.
This is a sweet Amish story with a very untraditional Aunt, wearing earrings? Did I see a tattoo? You are going to be quickly absorbed in this read, and hope that our girl makes the right decision, and is not led down the wrong path!
I received this book through Zebra Publishing, and was not required to give a positive review.

This is an interesting take on Amish romance/fiction and that may be because the Aunt that raise these sister's had been out in the world for about 20 years.

This is the story of Lily. She grew up homely and naturally became lovely. As she was growing up, the boy that she was most interested in teased her the most...actually he never really understood that what he was doing was teasing and hurting Lily. So Lily formed a friendship with another young man -Paul - this turned into an engagement of sorts.

The boy who teased her -Dan -has never forgotten her and is now back in town. Now things are going to get VERY interesting indeed.

I have to say that I found Lily somewhat spineless and I'm not sure if that is the Amish coming out in this character or if she really was spineless. Paul is the über creep of the story and you most likely will come to hate him (or at least dislike him) as much as I did.

I learned a ton about bee keeping, and while that can be good, in my opinion, it did not add that much to the story and I hope that the next two sisters books have more story and less 'lessons'.

I am looking forward to the next two books.

I'm such a fan of this author's writing style- vibrant characters with a wonderful sense of humor woven throughout as well as thoughtful and subtle life lessons. My dad had beehives so this aspect of the story appealed strongly to my sentimental side- there's nothing like fresh honeycomb! I loved that the sisters made so many tasty things with their honey. Lily is capable and compassionate with helping raise her sisters and running the farm with her aunt, but her vulnerabilities are holding her back with her boyfriend's manipulative behavior. It was frustrating to see her in that kind of relationship, but the author skillfully shows how she is caught in his web of emotional manipulation. Dan's determination and perseverance is admirable, and I loved his positivity and the light he brought to Lily's daily life. It really created a contrast that she couldn't ignore. Her supportive aunt and sisters have distinct and individual personalities, so I was excited to continue reading the series. A mystery of vandalism at the farm isn't resolved, but becomes an overarching subplot of the series.

The story was okay, but I was too annoyed with the MC, Lily, and her boyfriend to enjoy this book. It made the story drag on. I did enjoy the beekeeping in this story; that was the most interesting thing about this story. I did like Aunt Bitsy. She was amusing and the reason that I finished this book. Also, I liked Dan and Poppy, but I didn't like Rose or the sisters' grandparents. Fortunately, there was a happy ending, and I did like that the story was set in Wisconsin.

Sweet as Honey by Jennifer Beckstrand is the first book in The Honeybee Sisters series. The Honeybee Sisters (Lily, Rose, and Poppy) live in Bienenstock, Wisconsin with their Aunt Bitsy (Elizabeth Kiem). Their parents died in an auto accident. Aunt Bitsy returned to the Amish faith (after living Englisch for 20 years) to raise the children. Aunt Bitsy is a wee bit eccentric (which I loved), but she is also loving and God fearing (she talks to God out loud). The four of them raise bees and make money from their honey (and other bee related products). They sell the honey to Paul Glick’s father who runs the local general store. Paul made friends with Lily when they were in school and have been together ever since. Lily and Paul are expected to marry. Then Dan Kanagy returns to town after living in Pennsylvania for the last two years (where he tried to forget about Lily). Dan has had a crush on Lily since they went to school, but he has an awkward way of showing his affection. He believes the special names he calls Lily are endearing, but Lily finds them offensive (but she never told Dan this little tidbit). Dan slowly works his charms on the family and Lily. Dan sees how Paul treats Lily (she already has self-confidence issues) and wants to help her. Paul continually puts down Lily (mental abuse instead of physical), but Paul states he is trying to teach her how to be a proper Amish woman (that is how he explains his insults). Then Dan discovers that Paul is cheating the Christner’s on their honey. He wants to help, but Lily really needs to be the one to stand up to Paul. Lily is responsible for the selling of the honey and the books for the business. Will Lily be able to step up to the task? The Christner family is also dealing with sabotage on the farm. Someone is sneaking onto the farm at night (painting warning messages on the barn door, taking down clothesline so clothes are in the mud). Why is someone doing this to them? Can they find out who is responsible?

Sweet as Honey is different from other Amish fiction novels, and I have to admit that I had a hard time reading it. The mental abuse Paul inflicted on Lily really hit home with me (I suffered from it for many years). Sweet as Honey is nicely written and has a good pace (which makes for a quick and easy read). I thought Lily was too naïve (can anyone really be that oblivious in this modern age). I give Sweet as Honey 4 out of 5 stars (I liked it). Paul’s character is an exaggerated version of a villain (he was overdone like a caricature). I think the author did it to show the difference between Paul and Dan (because was written as a happy-go-lucky, caring individual). Sweet as Honey addresses an important issue and Jennifer Beckstrand did a good job at showing how someone should handle an abuser. Will I read the next book in the series? Yes. I will read the next book in The Honeybee Sisters series.

I received a complimentary copy of Sweet as Honey from NetGalley (and Kensington Books) in exchange for an honest evaluation of the novel.

I loved this story as I do all of Jennifer's books. I made new friends and this book shows us another side of the Amish that we're not used to seeing in most Amish books. I am used to seeing most Amish for forgiving others and not being abusive or controlling other people.
I loved Lily from the start. I think because she reminds me of myself when I was little. Always being called names. But, I eventually grew out of all that. Yes, names still hurt even after we're adults but being adults I think that we can handle them a little bit better with God's help. My favorite phrase is I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.
Poppy meant well. Poppy is a wonderful person too. We know we can turn to her especially when one of us is getting picked on!! I wish I had her courage sometimes. Poppy knows how to stand up for herself something that Lily needed to do on her own.
Rose reminds me of Haley Mills. I guess because of her hair. The curls around her face and all. Rose is the shy and quiet type who likes to keep to herself and is definiailey terrified of boys lol!! She's a great cook and like me loves to bake. It doesn't matter what it is!!
Aunt B is my most favorite although I wouldn't want to come up on her unexpectedly!!! Aunt B's favorite phrase is" once you feed a boy he's like a stray cat always wanting to come around all the time" lol!! She's something else!! It takes a lot of determination raising 3 girls by yourself. But, I think she's done a wonderful job!! I don't think it's fair looking down on someone just because she's a little bit different. It's for this reason that I like Aunt Bitsy. Especially since she has two ornery parents that are very opinionated.
Dan is ok. I just don't like his name calling and wanting to show off every time you turn around. He's always got this big smile on his face. Especially when he goes over to the Honeybee Sisters. How can anyone stay this happy I will never know. At least he was very handy.
Paul was something else entirely. He is a big baby. Whenever something doesn't go his way he throws a temper tantrum.
Overall, I think the story was wonderfully written and I can't wait until the next book comes out.
I gave this book 5 stars and Jennifer must've know that yellow is my favorite color!! I think yellow fits the story because of Dan's smiles
I recommend this book for all Amish lovers!!

~See my review of the whole series here on my blog: http://smilingbookreviews.blogspot.co...

This is the first time I have read anything by this author and let me tell you - she is funny! I laughed out loud quite a bit while reading (and listening to**) these books. The way she words things can be quite humorous. And the character of Aunt B and the way the author portrays the cats is too funny. Aunt B is fiercely protective of her girls and hilariously eccentric. I love Aunt B! :)

Then there is the mystery running through all three books of the vandalism that is plaguing the Honeybee Sisters Farm! Who can it be? An Englischer? Or someone from the Amish community who thinks they should be shunned because of Aunt B?

All in all, this is a very enjoyable series. With strong, earnest heroes and sweet, sometimes vulnerable heroines, you'll enjoy the romances as well as the mystery in these books.

Sweet as Honey by Jennifer Beckstrand
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this story about a girl who has to learn to forgive the hurts of the past and present and look to God, not man, for her worth. She's a wonderful character and I enjoyed seeing her change and grow throughout the book. I also enjoyed the sweet romance that develops between her and Dan. It's a struggle because of the way he has hurt her in the past. Dan has a lot to learn when it comes to Lily!

That being said, I gave this book only 4 stars because I got quite fed up with the way Lily kept putting up with and defending Paul!! And I also really didn't like the way Dan kept calling Lily names even as an adult. I can see how a teenager might do that but an adult really should know better. It really lessened my enjoyment of the rest of the book.

*Thanks to CelebrateLit for complimentary copies of these books for review purposes. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions stated are my own.*

**Although I received a complimentary e-book of all three of these books, I also purchased an audio version of all three so that I could listen to them on my way to work. I'm glad I did, because hearing the dialect of some of the words was great. I found myself wanting to say "Uff da!" more than once...LOL! :) **

I loved "Sweet as Honey" by Jennifer Beckstrand; it's the first book in her new series. I love how Jennifer makes the characters come ALIVE right off the pages while reading. I felt like I was a bee flying along the country side of Wisconsin with the Honeybee Sisters. I enjoyed the chuckles that I had at certain times throughout the book.

"Sweet as Honey" hit home for me, personally. I saw myself in the main character Lily Christner, who has a hard time viewing herself as beautiful. We both view ourselves as loners.

Lily and I have something else in common, being in a relationship with a man, Paul Glick, who used words to twist a gain from us, when in reality those words were emotional abuse. Emotional abuse is hard to walk away from, I know this personally. Even harder to see that God has a good man out there for us; especially when that good man, Dan Kanagy, can be right under your nose.

So which young man does Lily feel safe with?
Will Lily see the truth before it's too late?

I look forward to reading the next book in the series by month's end, "A Bee In Her Bonnet". Followed by the last book in the series releasing in August, "Like a Bee to Honey". Each book features a sister and her story.

I received a free copy from NetGalley with the only request to write an honest review about the book. No money was exchanged. This is my review written in my own words.

When I was checking my list to see what to read next on my TBR pile (thankfully it's an e-pile, not a physical pile), I was hoping it was going to be an Amish book. Imagine my thrill to see that Sweet as Honey by Jennifer Beckstrand was next on my list! It was just what the doctor ordered for my reading pleasure.

My first and only critique: Jennifer switches back and forth between Amish and English spellings of certain words. Aendi or Aunt was the one I remember most. I understand an English character using Aunt, but even some of the Amish characters used Aunt.

Lily, her sisters Rose and Poppy, and her Aendi Bitsy own a honeybee farm and sell the honey to the local Amish market for only a dollar a pint. Since she was in the eighth grade, Lily had been friends with Paul Glick who was pushing her to marry him. It was his father's market that bought her honey.

In creating Lily's character, Jennifer has completely and convincingly made a woman who has been beaten down and has had her confidence totally shattered.

In Paul's character, Jennifer took the definition for passive-aggressive controller straight out of the dictionary. There are good Amish folk and there are the occasional bad seeds. Paul falls somewhere in between--he's extremely legalistic in his beliefs, following in his father's footsteps, but he brow-beats Lily at any and every opportunity.

But then there's Dan, the very picture of clueless about his behavior. He doesn't understand how his words have hurt Lily and why she holds him at arms length. When he finally does understand, he wants Lily's forgiveness, and if she's willing, he wants her heart too. He endears himself to Aendi B by learning all he can about keeping bees and drawing the honey. He also learns how the sisters have been cheated by Paul's machinations.

I am going to have a hard time waiting for Poppy's and Rose's stories to come out.

This is a five star book, with two thumbs up, and a pint of Amish honey for your sweets.

My thanks to Kensington Books for allowing me to read and review this book.

In the world of Amish fiction, it is interesting to find the special twists and turns the various authors put into their stories. Jennifer Beckstrand has a delightful approach to her stories -- providing fun and unexpected characters and plots in the Plain setting. She definitely lives up to that model in her new Honeybee Sisters series!

From the first short chapter of Book 1, it was obvious that these books would be just as much fun as Jennifer's Huckleberry Hill series -- some of my favorite stories. The Honeybee Sisters -- Lily, Poppy, and Rose -- are trying their best to grow into good Amish young ladies and -- hopefully -- wives. But with their somewhat unusual occupation of beekeeping and their eccentric, far-from-traditional-Amish Aunt Bitsy -- well, there are some challenges to be faced. The sisters are blooming into lovely young ladies and catching the eyes of the young men in their community. Each book focuses on one of the sisters and deals sweetly with issues such as love, faith, confidence, guilt, and forgiveness.

Some elements of the plot are pretty obvious from the beginning, but it is a joy to go along on the ride to see how they play out. These books really need to be read in order, as the characters and relationships develop throughout the series. And there is an ongoing thread of trouble that plays itself out as the stories progress. As a bonus, there are honey-themed recipes at the back of each book.

If you're looking for entertaining Amish fiction, stories that will make you smile -- and maybe even shed a tear or two -- I highly recommend Jennifer Beckstrand's Honeybee Sisters.

I was provided digital copies of these books in exchange for my honest review.

I have to say I loved this book, just as I have loved all of Jennifer Beckstrand's Amish books. This book has started me onto another series from which I can honestly say that I don't want to miss a single book! Jennifer Beckstrand's humorous, yet deeply well thought out books has got me hooked.

Here is a little book blurb:
Smart, kind, and good-hearted, the three Christner girls are affectionately known as The Honeybee Sisters in the beloved Wisconsin Amish community where, under the care of their aunt, they've grown into skilled beekeepers--and lovely, sought-after young women. . .

Though she has blossomed into a beauty, Lily Christner doesn't really believe it. Deep down, she still feels like a lonely, gawky teenager. Maybe that's why she's all but promised herself to Paul Glick, the one boy who never teased her in her awkward girlhood--unlike Dan Kanagy, whose creative name-calling left her in tears many a time. Now he's back in town after two years away--and being surprisingly sweet, suspiciously attentive--and making Lily unsettlingly yet deliciously nervous. It seems Dan wants Lily's forgiveness--and her heart. But can he convince her--not to mention her protective schwesters and aendi--that despite the past, her future lies with him?...

As I watch the characters grow and learn about life and understanding one another, I have become so fond of them and their sense of humor so carefully crafted by the author. I know you will love this book as much as I did.

SWEET AS HONEY is the first book in Ms. Beckstrand’s The Honeybee Series. I have book three to review also, but never did get book two. The series is about three sisters who were raised by their Aunt Bitsy. Bitsy is ex-Amish and she is struggling to raise the girls Amish as their mother wanted. SWEET AS HONEY is about Lily who is engaged to Paul already, but Dan has loved her forever and makes a last effort to try to win Lily’s heart. The four ladies are beekeepers and there is plenty of beekeeping information.

I love Ms. Beckstrand’s stories. The Amish always are rather unorthodox in them and they are so funny! I wish I could write with Ms. Beckstrand’s level of humor. The characters are well developed and Aunt Bitsy is a total dear. I couldn’t help but love her and her gruff ways. Paul was a true villain and I hated that he had Lily so brainwashed she just accepted it. I wanted to tell her to show some self-respect and tell him to get lost! No girl deserves to be verbally abused and lied to as she was. I was glad Dan was so persistent.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and highly recommend it.

Who doesn't love a good love triangle?! I so enjoyed reading the first book in The Honeybee Sisters Series, a story about Lily, Paul and Dan. I think Dan was my favorite character. He reminded me of a first grade boy who was trying to get the attention of a girl, by picking on her and calling her names. I don't think that Dan realized the affect he had on Lily when he did call her names, and she obviously didn't understand why he was doing it!

I loved how Jennifer unraveled the characteristics of Paul. The more time I spent with Paul, the less I liked him and saw his true colors. I'm glad that his true intentions and qualities were not given at the beginning of the book. It left this mysterious side to him, and when you learned new things about him you almost gasp to yourself because you didn't imagine those things happening.

I recommend this to any Amish Fiction reader. You will love the innocence, plot twists, and spunkiness of some of the characters! I received a complimentary copy of this book from CelebrateLit in exchange for an honest review which I have given.

Sweet as Honey is the first book in The Honeybee Sisters series by Jennifer Beckstrand. This book is absolutely wonderful. I was hooked on it right from the start with these most delightful characters that you are sure to fall in love with. There is so much love, hate patience, faith, trust, devotion in this story. This book is sure to be a hit. I am so looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series. Be sure to grab a glass of sweet tea as you kickback and enjoy this most wonderful book. This was just as cute as it looks.

Yes, I was highly irritated with Lily Christner and her self-effacing blindness (which often seemed implausible to me), but it was all the more satisfying when she finally gained eyes to see at the end.

Overall, my first Amish romance reading experience was a good one. Aunt B alone made the novel worth reading.

This is a fun book/series to read. I really enjoyed getting to know "The Honeybee Sisters". It was the type of book that just makes you feel good and not have to worry about what might be coming. 3 1/2 stars.

Jennifer Beckstrand says of the Amish, “ [I] admire the importance they put on enduring family ties”. This is evident by the story presented in Sweet as Honey , book one of The Honeybee Sisters series.

In Sweet as Honey , Lily Christner lives with her two sisters, Poppy and Rose, and their anything-but-conventional Aunt Bitsy. Lily is dating one man, while other man wants to date her. Her affections, or lack of, toward both men are misguided, thanks to an incident that occurred back n their school years. Lily needs to open her eyes to the truth and decide who is right for her.

I have seen Jennifer Beckstrand listed as an Amish Fiction author for a few years now. Finally, I have read one of her books and was not disappointed! Sweet as Honey was a delightful read. I enjoyed the light and refreshing style of writing. I liked learning about beekeeping, what the "Honeybee Sisters" do for a living. The three sisters and their aunt stole my heart. While I had no doubt who Lily would choose, reading how she got there in this sweet romance was fun.

The Honeybee Sisters series is a trilogy. All three books will “bee” released this year. This is wonderful news for a fan of series like I am; usually the releases don’t happen so closely together. I do have one regret after reading Sweet as Honey – that it is the only book I have read by Jennifer Beckstrand. I also have to add that a book about Aunt B would be a great addition to the series and create a great buzz in the beehive.

Oh Gosh, this one was excellent but it was difficult to read too. I felt so badly for Lily, being treated like she was worth nothing by Paul when she was such a sweet young woman. It was so hard to read because it seemed so realistic, there's far too many people who get trapped in situations like that and don't see a way out. Her Aunt was an absolute delight, she was probably my favourite character in the whole book. I wish I could read all about her adventures! Sometimes you just wanted to (nicely I promise) thwack Dan in the head for not realizing his name-calling hurt her, as someone who got that a lot as a kid I felt her pain there.

I was a little surprised they didn't wrap the whole vandalism thing up at the end, but I have the next book on hold now so I'll see how it goes!

Lily, her two sisters, and her Aunt Bitsy keep bees and sell the honey. In many ways, Lily is a strong and capable person. In the matters of romance, she is not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, or the longest wick in the kerosene lamp. She has gone with Paul since they were schoolmates. But Dan has loved her from afar for just that long, too. It takes Lily far too long to assess the situation. The sisters are interesting, but Aunt Bitsy, who was raised Amish, turned English, then returned to be Amish and raise her orphaned nieces, steals the show. A good story and interesting characters make this an entertaining read, even with Lily’s lengthy road to her HEA.

I love this story and the series. (For some reason I read this first book last and it doesn't matter. I do recommend reading in sequence.) Lily and Dan are wonderful main characters. This story is as sweet as honey. The intelligent humor throughout is priceless.
There's an excellent lesson here. If anyone is in a relationship where one person controls everything, demeans the other, it is time to step, no, run, away.
This is a wonderful series. Well worth reading more than once, which I plan to do, and I rarely read a book twice!

I loved this author's voice--she makes humor an art form. Such a great story. Ms Beckstrand does a bang-up job with secondary characters, the best examples being Paul Glick, the main character's current boyfriend, and her Aunt, a seemingly odd Amish guardian who wears earrings and dyes her hair weird colors. I agonized over the plot even though it was a simple layout--which guy would she choose. So much fun. I tried to start another book, but had to put it down and order book two of this series. The Honeybee Sisters (all three novels) are a delightful read.

Couldn't put the book down - anxious to read the next chapter.

This was a cute love story that kept me hooked. I did get a little frustrated that Lily was blind to the submissiveness she had with Paul - even though you knew how it would turn out. I love the recipes at the end of the story. Love the devotion the sisters had amongst themselves along with their love for their aunt. Looking forward to the next book.

I came across this book while browsing through "Libby", desperate to find something to read! I was expecting a spectacular stopmeinmytracks story. I just needed some light and easy reading. This was the perfect choice for me!

This first book in the Honeybee Sisters series focuses on Lily and the boys trying to win her heart. It's a fun adventure and fortunately she ends up with the perfect guy for her. I don't think that's a spoiler, is it?
