About the author

Besides my family, my greatest love in life is books. Reading them, writing them, holding them, smelling them…well, you get the idea. I’ve always loved to read, and some of my earliest childhood memories are me, tucked away in my room, lost in a good book. I received a five dollar allowance each week, and I always — always — spent it on books. My love affair with writing started early, but it mostly involved journaling and writing silly poems. Several years ago, I didn’t have a book to read so I decided on a whim to write my own story, something I’d like to read. It turned out to be harder than I thought, but from that point on I was hooked. My first and second books were released by Sarah Book Publishing: This Is Not About Love and Grayson’s Ridge. I’m a total genre-hopper. Basically, I like to write what I like to read: a little bit of everything! I reside in Floyds Knobs, Indiana with my husband, three children, and massive collection of books. I have a degree in psychology and worked as a counselor.

This series was really good and Miss Lynch has become a fave author of mine.



Josie is a girl with no friends. She finally makes a friend in Freya, a new girl to her town. Freya is everything Josie wants to be. Freya is free spirtited, with wild colored hair and piercings. Freya stands out and loves it. She doesn't follow the norm and doesn't give two shits about what others think.

Josie is befriended my Freya one afternoon. Josie thought they were bff's. Josie thought Freya was an acutal friend. Wanting to be like her friend, Josie changes her hair color to bright read and gets some piercings. This is what friends do, they share likes and want to be like each other.

With the Carnival de Arcanorum coming to town, Josie and Freya are going to have fun together as bff's. Only Josie is never able to meet up with Freya. Freya is too busy with a nasty carnival worker Pockets, to notice Josie. As Josie relentlessy chases Freya around the carnival, she always comes up short. Then she finds Freya on a ride with the Pockets and joins them, only to be made fun of by Freya and Pockets for "being in love with Freya" and wanting to be just like her.

This breaks Josie's heart and she vows to be done with Freya.

Until Freya doesn't come home one night, or the next night. As the days pass and there is no word from Freya, Josie does some investigating to find that the Carnival is from a town called Flocksdale.

"Evil is a place. It is called Flocksdale."

Josie has no idea her journey to find Freya is about to put her in the path of evil darkness that is the town of Flocksdale. Hold on tight, Josie's life is about to be rocked by a horrible past and a secret that will leave Josie speechless.



My only complaint with book 3 is the first 60% of this book was really slow paced for me. I wanted stuff to happen page 1. Yes this is the impatient monster inside of me talking! ha
I understand the build up to the climax but it just took a little too long for me. The last 40% of this book.....HELL YES....this is why I loved this series so much!!



Bringing my girl Wendi Wise back from the previous 2 books made me say hell yeah....bad ass Wendi to make evil pay!!

Although the three books in this series work as standalone stories I would advise reading them in order to get the best out of them, as details and some characters from the previous books are carried forward.

This, the third and final book in the series is as chilling and atmospheric as the other two. I liked the creepy carnival setting of this novel, that and the haunted house, added to the darkness of this book. I also enjoyed the fact that Wendi (books 1&2) & Marianna (book 2) are back to save the day.

My favourite book of the three was House of the Lost Girls, but they were all well-written and had me hooked.

Carnival of Dead Girls, the chilling third installment of the Flocksdale Series, by Author Carissa Ann Lynch, is absolutely CREEPTASTIC! I thoroughly enjoyed this dark and scary ride.

The ride may be over, but the powerful conclusion of Carnival of Dead Girls, of the Flocksdale Files series, left me feeling satisfied. I look forward to future works by this talented author.

I really enjoyed the traveling carnival setting of this novel. Often looked down upon because of shady business practices, the carnival added an additional element of suspense. The world building in the novel is phenomenal. I loved the vivid, descriptive scenes about the fair food, the various attractions, and the freak show at the carnival.

But the traveling carnival is merely a backdrop to what is really going on…

I loved Josie. I think her personality is very relatable to a lot of teenagers who just want to fit in with their peers. Her heart was pure gold. Freya was lucky to have such a wonderful friend who cared about her – whethor or not Freya deserved it, is up for debate.

Third book in the series - yes, they need to be read in order. Details from the first book carry all the way through to the second and third, characters as well. 

Josie Crowley is a girl with no friends. Her mother is in jail and her Dad and Stepmom pretty much let her do her own thing.  She starts to connect with this badass chick named Freya (which throws me off because of Witches of East End, btw)... who is kind of walkign to the beat of her own drum. She's loose and free and doesn't care what anyone thinks. Josie thinks their connection is great - but Freya acts like it's no big deal. Josie is the type to do just about anything to get people to like or befriend her - including putting huge gages in her ears! It's relatable for many teens right now, doing what ever they need to do to be liked. 

Then the Carnival comes to town - and the girls plan to meet up! Looks like it'll be a fun night out! Until Josie gets there and can't locate Freya! Freya has become joined at the hip already with a boy from the Carvnival and pretty much disappears. Josie follows her in the shadows, trying to "be" her friend - until she catches Freya saying some hurtful things about her, and it kind of breaks her heart. Her's this girl, she thought was her friend, saying hurtful, mean things. She kind of sulks away, meeting Evan. A carnival worker who seems completely sane! They end up chatting and visiting the Freak Show tent together. 

It takes a few days, but eventually Josie realizes that Freya never came home after the carnival. She starts digging around and it all leads her back to this town called Flocksdale. If you'd read previous books, you know how twisted this is going to get! It was action packed, secrets around every corner, and lets not forget to mention the House of Horrors that makes an appearance! Craziness ensues and eventually Wendi & Marianna show up to save the day, sort of! Totally worth speed reading all the books if you haven't read them yet! This one wasn't my favorite out of the three, but it was a good one

First off I have to let readers know that I had loved all the books previous to this one by Carissa Ann Lynch, so I had high expectations when I discovered that there was a new one in the Flocksdale Series. However, I found myself slightly disappointed with Carnival of Dead Girls as I found the story to be too fragmented for my liking. The story started off with us being introduced to Josie Crowley, who is sixteen and living in a town not far from Flocksdale. She wants to fit in somewhere and is befriended by a girl named Freya. Turns out though that Freya isn't exactly the type of person that Josie thought she was and when a circus comes to town. Freya disses Josie and runs off. Next thing we know Freya is missing and Josie knows it has something to do with the Circus. This part made her seem too clingy and needy for my part as Josie goes on a search to find Freya and it leads her to the town of Flocksdale. Remember Flocksdale - home of the Garretts, who liked to kill and traffic girls. Well, it seems that there are still members of the Garrett family around and they haven't given up their bad ways, in fact, they will do anything to keep the Garrett name alive including drawing Josie to Flocksdale. What is Josie's connection to the Garrett family and what has happened to Freya? One of the small parts I enjoyed about this book was the re-introduction of Wendy from the earlier books. Carnival of Dead Girls was a good thriller despite its disjointedness and a good read for those wanting to continue The Flocksdale Files series.

This is a new adult, dark, suspense. This is the third book in the Flocksdale Files. This book should not be read as a stand alone, there are details in the previous books that are needed to understand this book. I advise this for young adults and older. This is a fast paced, roller coaster, entrancing book. I was anxious for what would happen next. And most of the time I was left open mouthed... what the heck... ok, hurry turn the page.... astounded. Josie tries so hard to be a friend, and proves beyond doubt she loves hard. She is a soft spoken person that unknowingly has a strong presence. I still can not get over the news that she (Josie) learns, omg I feel that is another story in itself!! AND did I mention I hate CLOWNS! A must read series, you will not be disappointed!

Josie Crowley is your average, sixteen year old student. She is bending over backwards to prove her friendship to Freya, even though Freya doesn't seem to appreciate the efforts. Josie is catching on quickly and decides to ignore Freya. In their small town, not much happens. So when Freya mentions meeting at the visiting carnival, Josie agrees. Josie soon discovers Freya is missing and is determined to find her friend. What Josie doesn't realize is the danger she is running straight into.

The first two books of the “Flocksdale Files” have been such a riveting, compelling, thrilling ride that I couldn’t wait to see how an extremely talented author Ms. Lynch would finish it, and she met the task admirably! I read “Carnival of Dead Girls” literally in one evening because it was impossible to put it down. The action, the atmosphere, the characters, both already familiar to the readers of the first two books and the new ones, drew me right into the twisted madness of the freaky carnival, filled with freaks – physical and mental, the creepiest clowns and the gruesome family running it all.
I absolutely loved how the author pulled all the strings from the previous two books into a mesmerizing net of horror, which finally met its end. But what’s more important was how Ms. Lynch delivered the significant messages, which will certainly resonate with both young adult readers and their parents: the horrors of the sex trade, drugs, and how trying to fit in with the new friends might just get one into the worst troubles, sometimes resulting in one’s death.
I loved the main character Josie so much, I just want to give her a big hug! Who else would put their own safety and even their life to find a friend, who isn’t that much of a friend to begin with? I loved the sweet and savvy Rachel and her mother Lucy, the bearded woman working for the carnival. I couldn’t help but admire how evil the bad guys were this time (I’m not going to reveal the names not to ruin the mystery;)), and how perfectly everything ended! Impeccable work, as always! I can’t wait to see what Ms. Lynch is preparing for her loyal readers next;)

Having read the first two books in the Flocksdale Files series, and thoroughly enjoyed them, my hopes were extremely high, and I was not disappointed in the slightest.
This book moves on a few years and concentrates on Josie Crowley, a sixteen-year-old girl who is low on confidence, and will do whatever it takes to impress her supposed friend, Freya.
When a carnival comes to her home town of Lamison, Josie sees Freya with a strange man, and is mocking her. A while after, Freya has disappeared and Josie feels responsible, and decides to track down her "friend", the trail leading her to a place called Flocksdale.
In Flocksdale, Josie befriends a daughter of a member of the carnival, and sets to discovering the whereabouts of Freya. It is at that point that matters take a turn for the worse, and Josie is in mortal danger.
This book flows brilliantly, and the appearance of Wendi Wise and Marianna Bertagnoli from the first two books is a masterstroke. Multi-narrative books can often fall flat and become confusing; however, that is most certainly not the case in Carnival of Dead Girls. The appearance of these characters adds to the tale quite brilliantly, and fuels the plot, driving the reader through a number of possible scenarios and towards the conclusion.
Author Lynch has a talent for keeping the reader entertained and intrigued from the first page to the last, and evokes emotion in a way that is truly masterful.
To give this book less than a five star rating would be severely harsh, and wrong in every respect.
Carnival of Dead Girls is a book that I would recommend strongly to anyone, even if they have not read the first two books in the series. Outstanding!

I devoured the first two books in the Flocksdale Files series, and couldn't wait to grab this one as soon as it released. And I'm so happy I did! This book follows Josie, a teen who is struggling to know where she fits in: in her family, in her school, and in the life of her beautiful, edgy friend Freya. Carissa Ann Lynch writes teenagers so well it's almost freaky. She captures their angst, their longing, and their false bravado perfectly every time. That's one of the reasons this series is so stellar, because its difficult to realistically capture the inner turmoil of a teenager without making them too simplistic or much too mature to be believed. But Ms. Lynch nailed it. Josie and her sometimes friend Freya go to a carnival, but Freya bails to hang out with one of the workers. When Freya doesn't return home, Josie wonders if she's been kidnapped by the carnival workers. Excitement builds as she runs off to chase the carnival, ending up in a town that is all too familiar to readers of the first two books: Flocksdale. There, she meets new friends, and possibly a budding love interest. But who can be trusted? And will she find Freya? The book ricochets to an explosive, nail-biting finish, pulling in some familiar characters to help wrap up the book and the series perfectly. Carnival of Dead Girls is a stellar story, and I highly recommend it!

Lynch puts you in the front seat on an old rickety rollercoaster full of more twists and turns than a labyrinth. After reading book 1 and 2 in one day, I learned not to trust anyone and questioned everyone’s motives and was still surprised.
The Flocksdale Files Series is dark and gripping. A real page turner. A series you definitely don’t want to miss. I do advise reading them in order as some details carry on throughout the series.
Now that’s all been said, onto the Carnival of Dead Girls.
Josie is a teenage girl, looking to find her place in the world, her mum’s in prison and her father has remarried a woman she doesn’t get along with. She experiments with her look and tries to get approval from her only friend, Freya who isn’t exactly friendly or stable.
When Freya goes missing, despite her so-called friend being mean to her, Josie investigates her disappearance with leads her to a small, creepy town called Flocksdale.
Who can Josie trust? Will she find Freya before it’s too late? Will she get out alive?
Chilling, action packed and fear enducing. Questions are raised and gruesome answers are provided.
The ending was sad for me, yet also finished the series off wonderfully.

This is the final book in a 3 book series and in my opinion the best one. It could be read as a stand alone but I'd recommend reading them in order. Also without reading the first book the ending wouldn't be so significant.
A mysterious carnival comes to town and a girl goes missing. Josie sets out to follow the carnival to its next destination, the town of Flocksdale, to find her missing friend. Readers of the series will know Flocksdale is the last place a teenage girl should go alone. The story is fast paced with plenty of twists and gruesome discoveries. I've always found clowns scary and I loved the setting of this book within the creepy side shows. It was also great to re meet Wendi and Marianne from the first two books and the ending of the book was very fitting for this story and the series as a whole.

What a great end to what has been a fantastic and enjoyable series. Has Carissa Ann Lynch saved the best to last? I think she has. What I have also noticed is that she writes clearly and the reader can read her narrative with ease.

The plot was excellent and the setting of the Carnival for the story enabled the author to write the descriptive as if we were there. We meet new characters as well as some who appeared in previous books. The new characters are well drawn and developed.

The author writes for teenagers, well I am not a teenager or a YA and I like her writing and stories. Any young person will warm to the main character, Josie and enjoy her stories.

I read all three books with my kindle subscription, well worth it even if I had to have paid it would be money well spent.

Carnival of Dead Girls by Carissa Lynch is a gripping thriller just like the other novels in this series. I tried, and failed, multiple times to guess what was going to happen in the end. I was pleasantly surprised with the way this series ended. There was one huge event hat happened that I anticipated from the start, knowing it would be a great way to end the series.

This novel was far more morbid than the others and I LOVED it! Certain parts gave me chills. Lynch really tapped into the twisted part of her mind, and trust me when I say, IT WORKED! There are plenty of times during the ending where I thought this. Five stars for this wonderful finale to a great series. Very sad to see it end, but also excited to see what else this author has in store! I know we won't be disappointed.

What a great wrap up to a fabulous series. Carnival of Dead Girls kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it. After reading the first two books, "Have You Seen This Girl?" and "House of the Lost Girls," I thought I knew what to expect- lots of surprises and misdirections- and this book didn't disappoint. I spent the better part of the book suspicious of everyone, railing in mind, "This character better NOT be part of it!"

It was well-written, riveting and gave a very satisfying ending to a reign of terror in Flocksdale. I was disappointed about one death on particular, but even that wrapped up on a nice note. This series is excellent and I would suggest reading the other two books first. You won't regret it!

This book deserves more than 5 stars but sadly 5 is the highest I can go on ratings! I have been in love and obsessed with this series from the minute I laid my eyes on it. So gripping and chilling to the bone from every story of these young innocent girls who have been kidnapped and tortured! This evil town is so full of bad juju but I just can't stop coming back for more. I love that Carnival of Dead Girls puts a dizzying spin on everything. The perfect way to wrap up a beautiful series. And I have to admit I fought back tears because I realize this may be the last book of the series. Loved Lost girl series. Keep up the great work Carissa!!!!!!!!

Carnival of Dead Girls is the last in the Flocksdale Files trilogy and what an ending it is, this books unfolds with the story of a girl names Josie who is taken to the Carnival of secrets by her friend Freya who then ditches her but events take a turn for the worse as Freya goes missing and Josie take's it upon herself to find her missing friend. I won't spoil the ending for you but the book wraps up the story from the first two in the trilogy. I highly recommend this book to everyone, this is one that shouldn't be missed.

I love that Carissa Lynch chose a carnival setting for the final instalment of the Flocksdale Files. I've always found carnivals that little bit creepy and will do so even more after reading this book! The use of a freak show and the 'haunted house' create a brilliantly tense and creepy atmosphere for yet another fast-paced thriller.
I love the edgy heroines in this series and Josie was no exception. I also really liked the way both Wendi and Marianna featured, tying together the whole series.

Absolutely loved this series from Carissa! Sad too see it end! So intriguing, draws you in from the beginning and pages flow so fast with intense actions! I fell in love with each of the girl's from Flocksdale, the characters are greatly loveable and identifiable just as the evil ones are easily despised and hated! Hands down fantastic series!

Why did it have to end

This was an amazing conclusion to the series, Carissa is an extraordinary writer. I love how she brings the other characters from the previous books into her novels. But did you really have to kill my favorite character?! Be prepared for a roller coaster ride. This was a wonderful read. I'm glad the bad is finally gone and the last line killed it.

This is a terrific ending to a great series.This is well written and appeals to all ages not just YA. Josie is the main character in this book and I quickly grew to like her. This series was extremely well written . I normally get bored with books around 200 pages and I read all 3 of these back to back . Phenomenal !!! These books kept me wondering what was going to happen next and the ending surprised me a little . I was actually thinking it would say something about Josie turning evil lol . I am a huge fan of Carissa and so looking forward to her new Series .

3.5 stars. I didn't love this as much as the other Flocksdale file books but it was a good conclusion. Definitely a series I recommend if you like a dark mystery, the last 2 books I'd say would be suitable for older teens but book 1 was pretty dark and could definitely cause triggers.

Josie is a lonely girl. All she wants is a friend. She thinks she’s found that in a girl named Freya. After an altercation at the carnival, she realizes that Freya doesn’t feel for her the way Josie does for her. Then Freya disappears. The carnival disappears the next day, and Josie goes on a hunt to find out the truth of what happened. What she discovers ties into her own dark past, and she learns new things about herself. Things she wished she never knew.

I liked Josie. She was down to Earth and easy to relate to. The struggle to find acceptance was a driving force behind a lot of her actions, and that’s something a lot of us went through as a teenager.

I loved the twists and turns in this story, and the way the author brought in the MCs of previous books, Wendi Wise and Marianna, to tie into the book and give the entire ending of the trilogy a perfect wrap up. I have to say that I didn’t see any of the ending of this book coming, and I bawled my eyes out. It was all wrapped up so perfectly.

Narration was wonderful.

I loved this entire series and I am officially a new fan of the author. I read the ENTIRE series today. Yep, not one or two but all three books today. I was pulled into the story and I couldn't stop until I read all of them. I love that the MC from book 1 makes appearances in all 3 and that the MC in book 2 also made an appearance in this one as well. There are a lot of twists and surprises in all 3 books and each revelation will surprise you as much as the last one. I will be looking for more by this author.
