I love a dark romance and this book did not disappoint! From young lovers, to loathed enemies, this book follows the relationship of Dalton and Alexandria. This book was intense and, at times, disturbing. It contains scenes of abuse and graphic violence. So, if those are triggers for you, you may want to steer clear. It is a dark romance and not a "rainbows and unicorns" type of read.
Once optimistic and determined to take on the world together, the events of one day ten years in the past changes everything forever. Now, Dalton believes that the girl he loved betrayed him in the worst way and hatred has replaced the love he once felt for Alex. He's a cold shell of the boy he used to be and he wants to punish her for ruining his life.
When Alex returns to her hometown after ten long years to take care of her father's affairs after his recent death, she is equally scared and excited to see the man she loves. She has never understood why he abandoned her all those years ago, turning his back on her when she needed him most. She lost the love of her life that day, as well as a brother.
Right off the bat, this story knocked me off kilter. Alex is immediately attacked and tormented upon her return to town. The supposed love of her life just stands back and let's these terrible things happen to her. It was harsh, gritty and flat-out cold.
As the story progressed, the reason for Dalton's animosity is revealed. Like many other books with similar themes, everything hinges on a simple misunderstanding that could have easily been resolved if the characters had just talked. That aspect was a little frustrating and redundant.
When Alex and Dalton did finally clear the air, I wanted to shake Alex. I love an angsty, emotional, dark story. However, one of my pet peeves is weak heroines that forgive and forget too easily. I want to see the hero have to work for it and grovel some before they are forgiven for their crimes. In this case, it just didn't happen and believe me, Dalton had plenty to make up for. Instead, more and more suffering seemed to be piled onto Alex. How much can one woman take, realistically?
Otherwise, I have to say that I really enjoyed everything else about this story. Aside from the glaring grammatical error in the title, the book was surprisingly free of many editing oversights. Hopefully, they'll get that title fixed, because let's face it, that's just embarrassing.
The secondary characters were fantastic also. I'm really looking forward to the story of Six, who played a significant role in this book. A sneak peek into his story is provided at the end of Ten's book and it left me wanting more.
Overall, a great story! I would have changed a few things, but nothing major. I give it 3 1/2 stars, rounded up.

When I saw the blurb for this book- the brother’s best friend- I knew I had to read it. After thinking and thinking about this story…. contemplating what I should rate it and if I even liked it, I’ve come to one conclusion. Honestly, I think this one was a little too fucked up for me. That first 15% stared off in a bad way and turned me off the story. Yes, a lot of people will love this book, I’m in the minority of it just being okay for me. I didn’t really connect with either of the two main characters and I never felt that what happened to Alex was completely justified. Even if she did what was accused. Also, I felt she forgave much too easily. I just had trouble with some of the scenes
Ker’s writing is excellent. I actually really love her style and the fact that she writes difficult to read topics. As much as I wanted to love it, sadly I didn’t. HOWEVER… I WILL be reading the next book in this series. Because SIX. The character Six was my favorite character AND favorite part of this book. So yeah, I’m totally reading Six’s book! To all those who love a dark romance and don’d mind some violence and hard to read scenes, this may just be the book for you!

This is a quick read about soulmates/neighbors who fall in love as children. Alexandria Murphy and her brother quickly become friends with the new Moore who has moved in across the street. The Moore’s are bad news, drug dealers and criminals. However, young Dalton only ever wanted to play hockey and marry Alexandria someday. He had dreams of following a totally different path.
The story goes from the past to the present as Alexandria returns to her childhood home after her father’s death. She comes face to face with “Ten” the man Dalton is now. Its ten years after he has served a prison sentence that he blames solely on her and her brother.
”I want the pain of loving you to stop.” He beats at his chest. “I want to cut the fucking thing from my chest to stop the pain of every beat, because as long as my heart beats in my chest, I’ll never stop wanting you, loving you, hating you.”
The story has a lot of reveals and Alexandria barely survives attack after attack. How much can one woman handle?
Overall, this story was fast paced and exciting at times. Six was a great character. Dalton befriends him in prison and comes to Alexandria’s rescue time and time again. I’m excited that he will be the next hero in the series. The use of Lisa throughout the story was frustrating and I wished that half of the harm fell on Dalton instead of Alexandria. He was the one who jerked this girl around for so many years, not Alexandria.
I also got tired of the whole soulmate thing, it was mentioned entirely too much for my tastes and I got a bit gaggy by it by the end of the story.

Dalton Moore’s life was made difficult by his last name alone. Coming from a criminal family, he was prevented from being friends with the Murphy kids. But the three of them clicked and friendship turned to secret love. He had a bright future ahead of him until a betrayal shattered his dream. Ten years later, he vowed to make right all the wrongs.
When I first came across this book looking at the title tagline (My brother’sbest friend) my first thought was: “What?! Is Key Dukey writing a kinky semi taboo book?” lol! No it’s not. This one is more of a semi dark romantic suspense.
For 10 years, Alex suffered alone, not knowing what really happened between them. During that time, she found solace in something else – a new meaning in her life. I love how she was emotionally strong and physically resilient. But still, she had a weakness and that weakness was Dalton.
Dalton had a long held grudge. I wouldn’t blame him for it considering how his life was turned upside down. He worked so hard to have a better future, but when it all burnt down, he used that as a motivation – as a gesture of “fuck you” to all the people who had a hand in his fall.
This book was more towards physical darkness than psychological one. There were some unsavory scenes that actually made me cringe and there aren’t many things that could made me cringe haha!
The sex scenes were pretty hot. There were plenty of hate fuck and for me those are always the best.
I’ve always like stories about breakdown of friendship/relationship and how it affected the character. Technically this book was well written with well developed plot. However I wanted more when it comes to the soul of the characters. I needed to feel more of their pain. Yes I could see their pain in written words, but I needed to feel it deeper in my heart.
Speaking of soul, Six was a secondary character, but to me he stood out more because he had that soul I’m talking about. I am highly anticipating his book.
Ten is a story of how two individuals cope with a major turn of events in their lives and how they sift through betrayal and lies to survive. It’s a fast pace read with enough intrigue infused with a few shots of darkness to keep you flipping the page until the end.

3.5 'I should hate you' Stars
Alex met the love of her life at only ten years old. When Dalton moved in across the street from her, her whole life changed and from that point on she imagined herself living happily ever after with him. But life had different plans for her and at sixteen she was devastated when she was taken away from the love of her life and he never followed.
Ten years later she's back to her old home to pack up her late fathers house. Coming back to town is the last thing she should have done, and she isn't met with a warm welcome. Especially not from Dalton, who throws her out of his bar and does nothing when she is attacked. He hates her for his own reasons and will never forgive her. But Alex doesn't want to give up on him and now that she's near him again she's determined to get to the bottom of why he hates her so much. Some things are better left buried though, and Alex only puts herself in more danger.
This was my first Ker Dukey book and I really wasn't expecting the dark parts of the book. I went into this thinking that it would be kind of sweet and with some brothers-best-friend drama. But, oh boy, was I wrong. The first day Alex was in town and saw Dalton she left scared and with bruises, and it only got worse from there. The book is filled with hatred and had so many secrets in it that I was dying to find out about.
I can't really say that I liked Dalton and he was actually the reason for my 3.5 rating. I hated that he was so mean to Alex for what seemed like no big issue, or at least not something that would result in him treating her like that. I like asshole Heroes and love when we get to see their struggle with being an ass but also having feelings for the heroine, but in this one he was just purely an ass and I didn't see any remorse for acting the way he did. Yes, he had his reasons, but his character, in the beginning, needed to be throat punched. And then when his character did change it was just too fast for me and wanted at least some discussion or fight or something.
Alex was only okay for me and I really wanted to see her stand up for herself earlier in the book. I still can't really say how I feel about her because my feelings kept changing based on what was happening in the book and how she was handling it. I can say that out of the main characters that I liked her the most.
Overall, I did like the story even with my problems with the Hero and I'm actually pretty excited for Six to get his story. I think this would be a good story for anyone that likes a little bit of a dark story and some forbidden love.

I LOVED this book, I LOVED the story behind how TEN got his nic name, BUT what I loved even more was SIX, now he is all kinds of f*cked up,that book is going to bring us all the dark, grit, blood and gore that all us sickos crave in our books, I enjoyed the fact that TEN was so unpredictable, it kept me glued to my ipad to see what was going to come at me next..
TEN: Starts off where we're first introduced to Summer who has gone back to her childhood home to pack up the house after he father's passing.
My dad was a hero in my young eyes, he looked after the whole town and everyone looked up to him. Well all except Jonah (Summer's brother) who hated being the sheriff's son and made it his life's mission to get into trouble wherever possible.
Then it flips back to the past where she's infatuated with Dalton her next door neighbor from the age of ten, her brother's best friend..
Dalton Moore was just a boy, and I was just a girl completely smitten with the older boy across the street.
He was like the sun, and I was a flower waiting to bloom in his presence.
I've only read a few books by this author and that is only due to time restraints, anything by Ker Dukey you need to go in with your mind open because she pushes your limits like no other author I know, also expect the unexpected she may throw in a bit of dark, grit, a hell of a lot of angst and some craziness for an added bonus..
I loved her with everything I was when we were young, but as you age, everything feels more solid, real, breakable.
In true Ker Dukey style as soon as you start reading this the world around you ceases to exist, you straight away connect with the story line and the characters..
Moves through past and present rapidly with combining dual POV'S
Gah I am loving this soooo much, the feels as I race through the pages, the angst, the heartbreak, the desolation of Dalton's life when he's framed for a crime he never committed, the only crime was being a good friend..
Six was the one that named me TEN, for the ten year sentence I got for someone else's sins.

I've only read a few books by this author and that is only due to time restraints, anything by Ker Dukey you need to go in with your mind open because she pushes your limits like no other author I know, also expect the unexpected she may throw in a bit of dark, grit, a hell of a lot of angst and some craziness for an added bonus..
I loved her with everything I was when we were young, but as you age, everything feels more solid, real, breakable.
In true Ker Dukey style as soon as you start reading this the world around you ceases to exist, you straight away connect with the story line and the characters..
Moves through past and present rapidly with combining dual POV'S
Gah I am loving this soooo much, the feels as I race through the pages, the angst, the heartbreak, the desolation of Dalton's life when he's framed for a crime he never committed, the only crime was being a good friend..
Six was the one that named me TEN, for the ten year sentence I got for someone else's sins.

I love a brother’s best friend book, no like seriously love them so much it’s ridiculous. So of course I was all over reading Ten when I heard about it. However, this isn’t exactly a brother’s best friend book. Yes, Dalton is best friends with Jonah and Alex is Jonah’s sister, but the story runs so much deeper.
The story is told in dual POV and reflects back frequently to the character’s pasts. We first meet Alex and she is only ten, but immediately sees her soulmate in Dalton. It isn’t a romantic, but she feels a connection to him instantly. As they grow up their connection gets strong and eventually leads to love. When the story picks up we learn there has been an obvious fallout between Dalton and Alex, but we don’t know all the details until he story unfolds.
Let me tell you, this story unfolding was shocking and a little confusing at times. There is so much hostility toward Alex and in the beginning it was confusing and I was at a loss as for why things were they way they were. Some moments were pretty horrendous and I guess I wanted justification for how Alex was treated sooner. The story is fast moving and I will say I didn't want to put it down. I had a huge desire to learn about their past and what had happened to shape these two into the people they are now. To really see why these things were happening now, years later.
I did really enjoy the story once it started moving, but the beginning I had so much resentment towards Dalton. I would have preferred to known more in the beginning so I could focus more on the characters and their relationship. Overall this is a quick moving story that at times is over the top. There is a serious connection between Alex and Dalton, but it was mainly just words, I never saw the actual connection between the characters. I would have preferred more development there and less focus on the hatred. I did love Six and can’t wait for his story! So yes, it’s over the top, but I will still be coming back for more from the other Men by Numbers.

August 27, 2016I couldn't finish this book! I have a hit or miss relationship with KD and this was a miss for sure.
I love best friends to lovers/brothers best friend, dark and gritty book but this one? Ugh! I made it to 35% and can't read any more about Ten and Lisa screwing with Ten thinking about Alex. You would have to blind to not know that Alex had nothing to do with Ten getting sent away. Hell she has no clue why he hates her. So I already see where this is going and I'm not interested in reading about them attacking her any more while Ten just looks the other way. Did I like Six? Hell yes! Hope he gets a book:))

2.5 to 3 Stars.
The struggle is real! While I like the writing...alot, I could not find much to like about the actual character Ten. There is a big difference with a male character who is broken...acts aggressive...plays dominant...and a man who acts like a complete and utter Ass! Could not for the life of me figure out why the heroine would even want to go there???
So instead of getting into a big wordy review I'll just say that I DO plan on reading about 6. I Will read this author again. It is a definite case of "me not you" or the fact that I'm still book hungover :/

Ten is the first book I have read by Ker Dukey. Other than the blurb, I went into it completely blind. I didn’t have any expectations about the book other than it being a forbidden love/second chances kind of romance. What I ended up getting was way more than just a typical “Boy falls in love with his best friend’s girl” story. It is darker and way more intricate than that.
Ten is a dark romance about family (both the DNA and the mobster type), loss, revenge, and eventually, murder. Because of the mistake of a friend, Dalton takes the fall, his life completely torn apart, and he loses the love of his life. Unfortunately, he isn’t the only one hurt in the fall-out. Alexandria suffers the loss of her family, her home, and her soul mate because of her brother’s bad decisions.
When Dalton (now Ten) is released from prison, he takes his place in his connected/mobster family. They are involved in drugs, women, and more illegal activities. He is right where he fought so hard to never be. Meanwhile, Alex has struggled to move on from Dalton, keeping the memory of their love alive and never truly living after he is sent to jail.
At first, I had a hard time connecting to the characters, but as the story picked up steam, I found myself unable to put it down. I didn’t know which way the story was going to go, but after Chapter 3, I didn’t care.
While some of the violence is jolting, it is often tempered by the sweet memories of the past. As the story weaves together and the actions of the respective families come to light, I found myself getting caught up in the intensity. There is so much miscommunication and tension, I couldn’t help but feel tightness in my chest as I read.
While you may not feel comforted by parts of the book, I guarantee it will make you feel something. And, really, isn’t that the reason we read?

Dalton Moore is Alex's best friend. He may be her older brother Jonah's friend, but from the time he moved across the street, Alex claimed him for herself. Alex's dad is the town's sheriff and he doesn't think much of Dalton. Dalton's mom was a whore and his dad was mixed up in just about anything illegal you can think of-he killed his mom when the two of them were fighting. Since he's now homeless he has been sent to leave with his uncle. His uncle is just as dirty as his father. Alex's dad thinks he's bad news just like every other Moore. From the time she was ten Alex believed that Dalton was her soul mate. She saw him grow from a boy into a man and was forced to see other girls throw themselves at him; especially one particular slut named Lisa Marie. She never hesitated to let Alex know that she was sleeping with Dalton and he would never be hers. As she got older and more insecure, he kept assuring her that when she was old enough, he would marry her.
"I hate Lisa. I hate that you do things with her. i hate that she talks about it all around school. I hate that you tell me I'm special and that we will be together one day, but all the time you're with her and I'm alone."
When she was 16 they finally became lovers. Jonah's was possessive of Alex and the two knew if he found out about their relationship he would freak out so they kept things hidden from him.
Jonah spiraled out of control as he got deeper into drugs. He dragged Dalton into his mess and one night changed everyone's life. Dalton and Alex were broken apart and it would be years before they would see each other again.
Fast forward ten years-Alex is back in town for her father's funeral and to settle his affairs. Her dad changed when everything hit the fan and her parents ending up divorced. Alex was forced to live her life without Dalton. No matter how many times she tried to call him, or wrote to him, he never answered her. But she had responsibilities and didn’t have the luxury of wallowing in self pity. She's about to come face to face with her past.
I left her letters unopened and refused her visitation whenever she applied for it.
When she meets up with an old friend from high school they decide to get a drink at a local bar. But Alex is thrown to the ground and sees Dalton’s angry face before she just about passes out. He hurls her out into the alley in the back of the bar. Turns out this is his bar and he treats her like trash.
Dalton is here. Dalton just threw you to the ground in a wet, trash-filled alley.
Dalton is now known as Ten and he blames Alex and her family for the life he was forced to live in prison for the last ten years. He is under some false assumptions about Alex and she has been fed a bunch of lies too. Ten wants to hate her, but he wants her just as much as he ever did. I had a hard time moving past his treatment of her when the two met again. Come on, she had just gotten knocked to the floor by his fuck buddy, Lisa Marie and in the alley he let her kick Alex while she was down. Bad move…hard to overlook.
"You belonged to me too and I would never have hurt you on purpose. I would never have let you take that kind of hit for Jonah, or for anyone. I loved you more! I would have always chosen you."
"Your whole family fucked me over and ruined my whole life."
But there are so many secrets and lies and deceptions in this town. Little by little the truth comes out and it’s not pretty. Ten seemed to be generally sorry for the way he treated Alex, but I think I would have liked to have seen him grovel a bit more. One of his “brothers"from prison, Six (what is with all the guys names being numbers?) plays a strategic role in this story. Now he’s one guy who is a real diamond in the rough. He’s had a pretty raw deal in life, and yet he is an honorable guy. His story is next and I think I am going to love that one.
I've just got out of prison but I'm not opposed to going back in for the right reason. Protecting Alex and honoring my friendship with Dalton is as good a reason as any.
It’s hard to imagine that just about everyone has been played in this town and the story line does wrap up rather quickly. There were some plot lines that confused me, (like how much did Alex's mother know and where had Jonah been all this time) but this is basically a second chance at love romance. Alexa is the one who is innocent in all of this and I had no trouble liking her character. Ten was too harsh and over the top mean for me-although I have to admit he was trying to survive in prison and took things at face value rather than questioning what possible motive Alex would have had in being part of his false imprisonment. I just never got to the point where I liked him; regardless of his anger towards Alex, in the beginning he let her be brutalized and stood by and did nothing. That's the primary reason for my rating. The writing was good, but if I can't connect with a character, then I can't fully enjoy a book.
Ms. Dukey's writing is always fresh with a hint of dark. In spite of my disconnect with the hero, I still look forward to reading what she has next in store for us!

Started out strong, had all elements of darkness, revenge the whole nine yards. But once the story was in full swing, the immaturity level shot through the roof! Thought I was reading Gilmore or Pretty Little liars with all the catty and whinniness. The last I expected was the storyline to deteriorate and for me it did. Maybe you'll feel differently, in any case happy reading!

I have always been a sucker for best friend's brother romance trope. And in Ker Dukey's latest release, TEN, I was intrigued with the blurb and couldn't wait to get my hands on this book but sadly TEN was just an okay read. The writing was great but the storyline and characters failed to grip and hold my attention. The premise of the story was a young girl named Alexandria and Dalton, the boy she fell in love with. At ten years old, she knew without a doubt that Dalton was her soulmate. And fast forward to present time, readers learn that Dalton felt betrayed by Alex and her family. As readers, we learn of the circumstances of their parting and separation. While the hopeless romantic in me was curious on how Dalton and Alex were able to overcome this hurdle, I just couldn't FEEL their connection. The way Dalton treated Alex was cruel and spiteful. I also felt Alex forgave too easily after all the emotional and physical abuse she endured.
"He was like the sun, and I was a flower waiting to bloom in his presence."
I may be in the minority of readers of who just thought this book was just ehhh but I will say that this will not deter me in reading the next book, SIX. I look forward to reading SIX's story because I was already captivated and intrigued with his character more than Ten's.

1 WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST READ STARS????
Remember this is just my opinion.
There was nothing I liked about this book, apart from Six, the character whose book is next.
It is horribly violent and the abusive behaviour towards the female lead was brutal. The way Dalton treated Alex was appalling. He did nothing to help when another female, Lisa, hurt her significantly. I disliked Dalton. I couldn't believe how he and Alex treated each other. I like a badass alpha hero in my books. I like second chance romances. This book did not feel romantic. It was dark, brutal and I did not warm to the hero at all. Alex has to be the unluckiest female character I have read about in a long time.
There are some very good reviews for this book, so maybe it is just me.

This looks like a love it or hate it book. I am a love it girl. Sure it had a few problems but the positives far outweighed negatives for me. I love dark reads and violence is usually a part of a dark read, so haters of violence should just stay away from the genre. Rant over.

Gahh! This is exactly what I needed after reading books that couldn’t hold my interest. Ker Dukey does it once again. Her stories draw us in and make us fall in love with characters that we desperately want to hate. She shows us that even those who are on the darkest paths in life deserve love and redemption. This book is raw, dark, gritty, and intense but this is what I look forward to most. An absolute winner. A must read. I cannot wait to hear Six’s story.
“There is nothing more natural than falling in love with your soulmate. It’s like and out of body experience. You transcend before crashing back into your body, seeing life through new eyes. You don’t just find your soulmate; you reunite with them with intensity so powerful nothing can stop it. A love so potent you feel it in the atmosphere, and you see it in their aura. Alex knew she was in love when she first set her eyes on Dalton Moore. There was just something about him that drew him to her. But with her over protective bother Jonah and her families’ disapproval, Alex never though they could have a life together. You see, the Moore’s are “bad” people. They run drugs and do all sorts of illegal things. But not Dalton. He is the star in the family even if he refuses to live the dirty life that his parents do. But when Jonah sets up Dalton in a drug bust, all things go haywire. Dalton is sent to prison where he is nicknamed 10. And while he is in prison he plots to make those who did this to him pay.
Fast forward 10 year into the future (with some amazing flashbacks thrown in) we see Alex going home to clean out her old family home after her father passes. But she gets more than she bargained for when 10 and his cronies begin to taunt and menace her. You see, Dalton is hell bent on getting this woman who he used to love more than anything out of his life for good. And if that means by ways of pain than that’s just how he’ll have to do it.
Alex doesn’t understand where all of this hatred is coming from but finally sticks up for herself after the hell she has been put through. She never knew her family set Dalton up and sent him to prison for something he didn’t do. Finally, she gets this through his head, and the love they once had begins to reignite. But there are other sinister forces coming into play and you’ll have to read to see if the characters are strong enough to fight them.
Ohh boy, I just totally loved this book! It is so well written and intense that I actually read it in less than a day. I simply could not get enough of it. So if you like your reads dark and intense than I highly suggest picking up this book. I promise, you won’t be disappointed!

Ohh boy, I just totally loved this book! It is so well written and intense that I actually read it in less than a day. I simply could not get enough of it. So if you like your reads dark and intense than I highly suggest picking up this book. I promise, you won’t be disappointed!

That was such a good read, gripping and at times intense, Ker truly is gifted and I love how each of her books although different are captivating in there own way.
A childhood to adulthood love that never dies, soulmates seperated by a sea of lies, a rollercoaster read of angst,action,danger, fast paced and I absolutely loved it.
Dalton Moore was just a boy and I was just a girl, completely smitten with an older boy across the street.
Looking forward to Kers next book Six, he really intrigued me, can't wait for that.

Sometimes you know you will love someone as soon as you lay your eyes on him. This is Alex and Dalton’s story; though it’s not a sweet story. It is about friendship, family bonds and teenage love that becomes more. we see what happens when parents decide what is the best to do to save their kids, but isn’t always the proper thing to do and at the end their kid’s life is miserable instead of happy. The dual POV is good choice, because it helps develop the characters and the background of their actions. This was the first book I read from this author and I liked it.

This was my first novel by this author. It was almost unlikeable. But the writing/plotting was good enough I'm going to read Six...who almost stole the fucking show.
This not a hearts and flowers kinda second chance novel. It's ugly, gritty, and abusive. I don't like the H and the h kinda rolled over for him. The H is very cruel/uncaring towards the problems the h is facing when she returns...mostly because they DON'T COMMUNICATE.
I fucking hate that.
Especially because it's absolutely LUDICROUS that the h would have EVER betrayed him in the first place.
He's also fucking an OW throughout the beginning of this book. And that OW has always been an issue between the H/h.
Oh...and not to OTT on the drama...there's also baby drama and an OM who isn't really that much of an OM.
That said, I couldn't put it down.
I could swear I've read this plot before. Like...the entire weird-bro triangle thing this has going on. Though, minus the Moore's drug empire...it might've been similar.
This was so short. 30k more words would have made this worthy. Now it's like a runaway freight train leaving behind a ton of WTFs at each point it should have stopped and made some sense.

Fantastic!!! I can't stop thinking about TEN! Ten was so good that I did not notice the time go by around me I was so lost in the book. Dalton and Alex's story is an example that love doesn't come easy and family plays a big part in our lives. I love the flashbacks in the book, I love the interesting characters (some you'll love and some you'll hate) I love the romance, I love the slight dark drama, I love everything about TEN. I really love that a side character who intrigued the heck out of me will be getting his own book! A Must Read..Ker Dukey does it again with her brilliant storytelling ♡♡

I have to admit that the plot was interesting enough, but the potential wasn't used in the way I would have appreciated it. At the first half of the book the romance was lacking and it was worthy only in the flashbacks, I didn't like the hero or the heroine & the way they were acting. And then boom, things changed. So it wasn't the best approach in my opinion. Hopefully others will enjoy it more than I did.

I instantly connected with Alex and Dalton, "Ten"... and felt every shred of pain along the way when they first saw each other again. The flashbacks were perfectly placed and really let me know the characters.
As I was reading, I was in love with the story, but I felt that it wasn't really "dark", almost romantic... how wrong I was. In true Ker Dukey style, she hit me in the gut and made me gasp... several times. I actually had to put the book down, and breathe.
Alex and Dalton are soulmates. Two halves of a whole. They only shine when they are close to each other, separate them and it's like turning a bulb down to half wattage. They crave each other; body, mind, and soul.
But there's also hate. Crippling unbelievable hate.
After Dalton gets out of prison, he becomes the man, the Moore, that he always swore he'd never be. He's in the family business, worse yet, he's *head* of the family business. And he want's Jonah.
Alex's welcome home is anything but warm and fuzzy, and she doesn't understand why. Why wouldn't Dalton read her letters all those years ago, why doesn't he love her any more, and why does he look at her with such murderous rage. None of it makes sense to her.
Secondary characters:
Six... I think I'm a little bit in love with him too, and I'm looking *SO* forward to his story coming out next!
Lisa. OMG! Rage! That is all I feel for her. I wanted to just reach through my Kindle and choke her. I hope we find out more about her character in the next book.

I thought I was prepared. I was wrong.

The memories that are shared via flashbacks, made me feel so sorry for the loss of such an innocent love.

I'll start off with, I absolutely love Brothers best friend/best friends brother romance books and when i found out Ker Dukey was writing one i nearly died. Like drop dead on the floor because i can't take the excitement.
Seriously Ker Dukey is one of my favourite authors and every book she writes she captures my attention from the very first word. The very first sentence.
The whole book was one big whirlwind of action.
Keeping me hooked because i needed to know what was going on with Dalton (love that man to pieces)
Alex was a very lovely character and i loved reading about her. Even the horrible parts because it makes her the woman she is today.
Six, oh god don't get me started *fans self* holy mother of God. That man it one fine piece of man candy and i need him. Like now. So if he can just jump out the book that would be great!
And he's getting his own book! *squeal* *happy dance*
Ker Dukey i think you've out done yourself on this one!

This one was like, "Ker Dukey lite" it wasn't as dark as some of her other stuff was but it sort of flirted with that darkness. I have a weakness for an older brothers best friend book and this one was no exception. It was well done though I would have liked some more time "sneaking around," I love the tension and angst that comes from that.

You smell so sweet. Like coconut cake.Alex was a resilient girl. She lost the love of her life when she was sent away at a young age and she had to deal with his silence after that. She managed to build a new life for herself and hold close the memories and pieces of Dalton she was left with. When she has to go back home following the death of her father, she comes face-to-face with her would-be soulmate. Dalton is not the sweet boy she remembers and Alex is faced with learning how to interact with this new Dalton while trying to figure out what happened to keep him away all these years and cause him so much animosity toward her. When all is said and done, Alex believes that she belongs with Dalton.
And I did wait, and he gave me all my firsts. He was the first person to make love to me, and the first person to break my heart.Dalton's had some rough years since he last saw Alex. With his last memories of Alex steeped in hurt and betrayal, he has no desire to see the girl he once loved. She stumbles right back into his life and he seethes at the sight of her. He’s conflicted because he can’t stand to be around her yet he once loved her more than he’s ever loved any other person. With Alex back in town, Dalton has to face some hard truths and take a serious look at the life he’s leading. Alex and Dalton have a lot of hurdles to overcome if they ever want to find their way back to one another. I also really enjoyed Dalton’s friend Six! Just saying.
I used to think Alex was sent to me from God, but if that were true was he really God, or was it another raw deal from the devil?It’s hard for me to go wrong with a “older brother’s best friend” romance and this book was no exception. I really enjoyed these story, I liked that we were kept in the dark for a while flashing between the past and the present before we unraveled all of Dalton and Alex’s secrets. Check it out if you’re a fan of this trope or of the author, just know it’s not as dark as some of her other work.

Gahhhhhhh I have yet to read a book by Ker that isn’t 5 stars they just get better and better. TEN is the start of a new series for Ker ( My Brothers Best Friend #1) and it didn’t disappoint. It’s not as dark as some of her previous books but still has sensitive subject matter and all the twists to go with it. In this book we go through the lives of Alexandria and Dalton. The story switches back and forth from childhood to present. It pulls you in and grasps you from the very beginning. Alex and Dalton were childhood sweethearts until events ripped them apart and Alex’s mother dragged her to a new town far away from home when Alex was only 16, leaving behind her father whom was the towns sheriff and the boy she fell in love with, her brother Jonah ( Daltons Best Friend) also disappears at the same time. Dalton has always blamed Alex and her brother Jonah for the events that followed over the next 10 yrs and seeks revenge. Alex however has also harboured a secret from Dalton but knows it may come to a head when she has to return to the town she grew up in when her father dies. Alex is such a sweet character but can hold her own. Dalton is an angry mess especially when he see’s Alex is back in town. Daltons friend Six shows up in town and boy that man is a hot alpha male and I mean like sizzling hot lol! Anyway maybe he can help when it comes to Dalton’s corrupt family and his anger towards Alex. Secrets will be spilled with some major twists along the way who will survive? Well you have to read to find out.
