Alexa's the alpha sister of Lézare. She's got to worry about the Arceneaux Masquerade Ball because her brother's gone gallivanting to Austin. Except this once, she'd like to concentrate on her own pursuits. Namely one. Reese.

Reese Nielsen is an alpha wolf with a territory of his own to worry about. And that whole damned underground fighting ring. He's got information on it, but with Lézare MIA, Rory waits until the time is right. Except his heart and his tiger have an agenda of their own: the curvy and hot sister of Lézare, a white tigress with a mind of her own, and a temper to boot.

Things heat up in the midst of a Masquerade Ball.

If hot sex skeeves you out, you may want to pass on this book. If freaky, downright dirty sexy talk bothers you, yeah, for sure you gotta pass on this one. We believe in sex--hot, dirty, delicious sex. Yup, make it sweaty, too. It's not just sex, it's about the romance. But good romance has sex, and we keep the doors open! Oh, and the lights on! ;)

So, I like these books, but I think I may be nearing the end of my time reading them. So far there are 16 shifter books that are all connected, and the first was published (at this current point in time) about a year ago. Try keeping everything straight with 16 connected books that you started over a year before. I know the author said she tried to make it so you could just jump in the series wherever, but it really isn't possible with her parading almost all the other characters through each other's books. I can't remember what I agree for breakfast, let alone everything that happened to a made up couple in a book that I read 6 months ago. It's just way too connected.
My suggestion is waiting for everything to be published in all the 'spin-it'd series, then read everything from the beginning straight through. It's the only way to pick up all the threads the author keeps leaving around.

I decided to continue with this series not because it has any real merit but rather because the copy I have contains the first four books and they are, if nothing else, quick reads. The people who gave Insatiable its 4.07 star average clearly have very low standards though. The grammar is really shoddy. The sentences are clunky and the author seems to have attempted to make her writing more flowery... but has done so by using words that don't quite fit. Like in the first book, there's foot stomping which, frankly, is inexcusable in anyone over the age of about five. It's also implied that a wolf and a tiger have sex. Cross-species fucking. EWWWWWWWWWWWW.

I'm waiting for the tie-in of each of these stories. Right now, after 2, individually they feel rushed. Much of the story is hinting at things happening to other characters, while the main 2 meet, realize they are fated, and mate. This one mostly takes place over 3 days. I'll reserve final judgement for after I've completed the series, but right now, this feels like it should have been one book.

Alexa and Reese's story includes allusions to past lives. And vampires. Vampires have been mentioned in the previous books, but this is the first time, I think, they have taken part of the story. The deeper into this series that I get, the less I like it.

Sorry.

This is the first book in any of Elle Thorne's series that I've read (Shifters Forever, Never After Dark, Always After Dark, and Only After Dark) in which a non-shifter paranormal being made an appearance (to my recollection). I found that interesting. It seems odd to me that after reading so many of her books in which the only paranormal beings were shifters of varying species that we would suddenly be introduced to witches and vampires. It definitely added a new spin/element to the story. I'm very curious to see how Thorne will use vampires and witches in future books in the series and its spin offs or if this was a one time deal. I suppose we'll have to wait and see, won't we? I enjoyed this book more than the first book in the series, Desirable (though it's been a little while since I read that one). Though I'm frustrated I still don't get to read Evie's story, I am definitely excited to read Combustable. I will warn you, the very end of the book will make you want to read Combustable too. Thorne gives you the tiniest of nuggets with a scene that makes you (and all of the other characters) wonder, "What just happened there?" Then, of course, there is the big question, "What happened to Evie?" Aside from this, the book does not end in a cliffhanger so far as Reese and Alexa's romance is concerned. While this book probably could be read as a standalone if you really wanted to, I would not recommend it. That also goes for the Only After Dark series as a whole (of which this book is #2), you can read just it, but it would be even better if you read the other three series I mentioned at the beginning first. This is the order in which I'd recommend reading the series: Sifters Forever, Always After Dark, Never After Dark, and then Only After Dark. Again. This is not necessary to enjoy any of the books, but I do think it enhances the experience. As with all of Thorne's books I've read so far (which includes every book from the from her Shifters Forever and After Dark series), this book had a HEA ending.

Wow...this was kinda different than some of the others. They don't right away seal the deal. They actually don't know they are mates or anything til the end! The anticipation is awesome! Ha. Lezare's story is sorta happening at the same time. Thats why I love these books and Elle's writing...she's brilliant! This is Reece Nielson and Alexa's story. Alexis being Lezare's sister. She's left in charge most of the time while Lezare's dealing with his issue. Alexis isn't happy about it and even more unhappy he wont tell her anything lol. I actually thought that perhaps Reece and Rory his twin brother would share a mate but not the case. I guess I can see why cause it might seem weird sharing a mate with your brother lol. Anyways, Reece and Alexis have a history but they dont remember! No, they never did the deed but something from their pasts. They are bonded but not. Its all really mysterious! You gotta read it! Its a great story! I can't wait for the next story. Rory and Alexis' other sister Valencia who seems to always be MIA. Hmmmm.....I wonder! Also, in this book we constantly hear Eve's whining about Mason being there. Eve is another sister of Lezare and Alexis. Something happened with Mason and Eve when she was in college I am guessing. It got really ugly and she can't stand to be in the same room with him. Its getting on everyone's nerves and they dont understand why Eve wont let it go. However, they too disappear during the tour bus adventure. I guess we gotta wait and find out! :)

This is the story of Lezare’s sister, Alexa finding her mate. The story kind of overlaps with Desirable. In this story, Alexa, the alpha sister to Lezare finds herself in a unique situation since Lezare has run off on a secret mission, one sister is in hiding, and the other sister is MIA. She’s trying to hold the entire masquerade ball and family together while being distracted by a wolf shifter—one of the Nielsen twins. Alexa is a bit more free spirited in her beliefs and finds herself learning all kinds of new things between the swamp woman who she seeks out from time to time that Lezare disapproves of, his security head--a lion shifter, family help that keeps the shifters’ secrets even when they are feeling quite opinionated, and Reese, her mate, who even I found to be quite distracting. I love this series and can’t wait for more in the series that all of this is a part of!

The second book in Elle Thorne's Only After Dark series, Insatiable is just that. The passion that flows throughout the characters in this book is terrific. It would seem the Shifters in town for the Arceneaux Escape weekend all have appetites that are in need of fulfilling. I love the way Elle incorporates her characters from past books throughout each series. It is so nice the catch up with all our favourites. Each book is a stand alone but connects so well that you can pick up anywhere and not feel completely lost in the series. It's a rare quality to be able to connect so many characters and books so seamlessly but that is exactly what Ms. Thorne had done time and again. I can't wait to finish the series.

I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Elle Thorne.

Alexa Arceneaux and her family were hosting a masquerade ball but was also dealing with a lot of family drama at the same time. When a tall handsome stranger catches her eye her tigress wants to get closer to this man and she feels like they have history together. At the party Reese Nielson could not keep his eyes off of the sexy woman and his scar throbbed in pain the closer he got to her. With the help of a white witch they find some truth in their attraction but now they try to come to an understanding and will fight to stay together.
