Real-life marriage advice from the fictional Baxter family matriarch--inspired by the #1 New York Times-bestselling author's novel Forever.
Karen Kingsbury's beloved character Elizabeth Baxter once penned a letter to her children, in which she included her very own "Ten Secrets to a Happy Marriage." Over the years, Karen has been inundated with letters from readers wanting more of Elizabeth's wisdom. Here, for the first time, are Elizabeth Baxter's "Ten Secrets to a Happy Marriage"--explained and expanded. This e-short is filled with practical guidance and advice, insight that will bring a greater love to any marriage.
Karen Kingsbury, #1 New York Times bestselling novelist, is America’s favorite inspirational storyteller, with more than twenty-five million copies of her award-winning books in print. Her last dozen titles have topped bestseller lists and many of her novels are under development with Hallmark Films and as major motion pictures. Her Baxter Family books are being developed into a TV series slated for major network viewing sometime in the next year. Karen is also an adjunct professor of writing at Liberty University. In 2001 she and her husband, Don, adopted three boys from Haiti, doubling their family in a matter of months. Today the couple has joined the ranks of empty nesters, living in Tennessee near five of their adult children.
Another great read from Karen Kingsbury, but in a bit size short story that I was able to finish in less than an hour. For those who love the Baxter family, especially the family matriarch Elizabeth, this short story is a fantastic read for anyone who is married or contemplating marriage. Written with so much truth, interspersed with nuggets of scripture and with the sweet backdrop of the epic love story of John & Elizabeth backstory, this book was a quick read. It also contained a lot of fabulous and practical advice for loving a spouse well and enduring difficult times based on biblical truths for a modern day marriage.
I wish this came in print form! I would give to every couple getting married.. and then again on every anniversary following a baby birth or other life changing event.
These are very important things to remember and practice.
Loved this book. It was a quick read and had some good gems. I would consider buying it as a wedding gift tagalong, honestly. Good advice, no matter how long you’ve been married.
As someone who has read all of the books including the Baxter’s I enjoyed this short e-book. This list of secrets to a happy marriage is mentioned in a few books, but this a close-up. An easy, encouraging read that left me knowing I have a few things to work on in my own marriage. I appreciated the wise words and scripture.
Wonderful scriptural words of wisdom that we all can refer to over and over to make our marriages more like what God envisioned them to be as we seek to love each other like Christ first loved us.
less of a story, but great marriage advice! would be great to have a print copy without the little bit story thrown in, to gift to people not in the Baxter family universe.
How I wish this was a handbook that we were given at the beginning of our marriage 16 years ago. These 10 "secrets" to a happy marriage are truly divinely inspired and well written by Karen Kingsbury. From beginning to end, each time I read this book, I am challenged in the way I handle my marriage. I'm happy to say I've learned many of these 10 secrets myself through prayer and studying the Word. But this is a beautiful way to lay them out for a study together with your spouse. I think every couple should receive a copy of this book at their wedding. Well done, once again, Karen!
This book was such a wonderful, encouraging read! It offers wonderful tips that I want to remember and I also want to reread this every year or so! Such good marriage advice!
This should be given to any newly married couple! Great advice
This book should be given to any newlyweds. Great advice for all marriages! Our marriages would definitely benefit from this solid teaching on a subject that the world seems to hate now adays. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
