Five stars for a New Investor... Not for seasoned.
I hate rating books. Especially books like this. This book is great for people that do not know how to invest. It is a fantastic look at dividend stocks and strategies as well as explains a lot of variables in the stock market. For that reason, I give it a 5 Star. It accomplishes its purpose.
If I were rating it agains all books on investing, then it would drop quite a bit because very basic. Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading it.
As someone who is just looking for information about investing, I really liked this book. It explained things very well with stories and examples, and the math was easy to follow and understand. It also provided me with a list of things to look for (and how to find them) when investing in companies.
I really enjoyed Giovanni's "Smart Investors Keep It Simple" investing book. A lot of the detail is derived from the principles outlined in Benjamin Graham's "The Intelligent Investor" but Giovanni breaks it down in 84 pages and adds new insight on a few strategies. If the investor wants a complete analysis of investing strategies, I would still recommend Benjamin Graham's "Intelligent Investor" but if the investor wants a quick and simple strategy to investing, this book will serve as a great introductory book. I do recommend this book to new and seasoned investors, particularly in times of market distress.
If you've ever felt overwhelmed by investing, Smart Investors Keep It Simple by Giovanni Rigter is the breath of fresh air you need. It doesn’t drown you in jargon or charts—instead. It gives you a clear, motivating starting point for building passive income through dividend stocks.
Rigter’s approach is refreshingly simple. He shows you how to start small, build a solid foundation, and grow your income over time. The best part? You finish the book, not just understanding the basics—you feel inspired to keep learning and take action. It’s like having a mentor who says, “Here’s where to begin, and here’s why it matters.”
This book helped me realize that once you’ve built a bit of passive income, you can explore other strategies with more confidence. It’s not just about stocks—it’s about creating financial freedom step by step.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants to start investing without the stress. Simple, powerful, and motivating.
This book provides a high level view of information in building wealth through stocks and real estate. The author provides a list of high quality dividend paying stocks which is a great starting point. I believe that the author could have provided more details such as expected rate of return. Nonetheless, this is a book that you can just go through quickly. It is very broad.
This book gives you an overview of investing through stocks, especially dividend-yielding stocks, bonds, funds and and real estate. The author provides a list of high quality dividend paying stocks which did not decrease or stop paying their dividends through even the latest and largest depressions, like 2008-2009 and 20120 covid-crash. It also explains a lot about how buy and run rented homes, how to manage the costs of real estate investments.
Filled with platitudes and generalities this book is a complete waste of time. It says in summary that if you own good dividend paying stocks, you will eventually become rich! Buy a lot of such stocks, keep them for ever, voila, you are wealthy! If you don’t have a lot of money to start with, how do you do that?
This is a short financial guide that demystifies investing, with clear and straightforward approach, making complex investment strategies accessible without a background in finance. The book is a bit too basic if you have some knowledge of investing, as it seems to overlook the nuances and potential risks involved in certain investment vehicles.
This book contains straight forward language and tips on grasping what the stock market is and strategies on investing. I appreciate the examples, detail and concise method the author uses to convey his message. Definitely a read I suggest to aspiring investors.
Absolutely amazing! I read the whole book in one day. I wanted to learn more about value and dividend investment and all the examples and advice Giovanni gives here is the best $4 investment I've ever made. I'd give 6 stars if I could.
I like this book, but i do wish it was more detailed on retiring in cheaper countries and living off the dividends. It would be very helpful to future expats and digital nomads.
I don't have any dislikes for this book. It's a great starter. I'm still rereading and applying the information to a small amount of money. So far I have no problems.
Super basic and really short. Read in under an hour. A good write up of what dividend investing is but pretty short on content. A little disappointing as I was hoping for more of a deep dive.
This was an excellent introduction to the stock market. Rigters proves a capable teacher and presents his explanations and thoughts in a well-organized, layman-friendly way. I really appreciated the way this book walks the reader through even the most seemingly-miniscule details. This book has made me confident enough to invest, and I will definitely be returning to Ritgers' advice when I become an investor.
A good into to p/e calculation and dividend stock evaluation
Good into book for dividend stock investment. Nothing really advanced, but motivating and filled with core baseline information. I recommend it for beginners.
A really well written book by Giovanni Rigters! The book covers different aspects of choosing valued dividend stocks in a easy to read and precise manner. I will recommend this book to any potential investors. The information provided in this book will add value to your investment horizon. Indeed, it has changed my view on ‘creating passive income with dividend stocks’. i
