Showdown: A BWWM Bad-Boy MMA Fighter New Adult Romance

Rate this book
MMA bad-boy Benjamin 'Bruiser' Broderick is heading towards a showdown... His karate school is on the ropes, he has jealous husbands out for his blood, and in six weeks' time he's destined for a make-or-break fight in Vegas.

The LAST thing he needs right now is to fall in love.

Bailey Bryant thinks 'Bruiser' is an arrogant, interfering oaf. But there's something about this swaggering, angry young man that leaves her fasacinated by him - and salves the wounds left by a dark and shocking trauma from her past.

Does this gorgeous young woman DARE open her heart to this dangerous bad boy?

In SHOWDOWN, love, desire and anger all converge in a violent, lustful tale of vengence, redemption and romance.

Benjamin 'Bruiser' Broderick is trying desperately to hold it all together. His struggling business, his flailing MMA fight career, and a personal life littered with broken hearts and jealous husbands. It's becoming too much for even this one-time championship contender.

But then Ben meets Bailey Bryant - a vulnerable African-American nurse with a tragic past. Something about her offers Ben the redemption he seeks - if only he can keep his shit together long enough to win her heart.

Tautly written, fast-paced and blisteringly explicit, Showdown is a 90,000 word stand-alone MMA romance with a HEA, but also serves as a sequel to 'Bruiser' for dedicated fans of Simone Scarlet's critically-acclaimed 'Fight Night' MMA Romance series. Enjoy!

Hi! I'm Simone Scarlet, and thanks for checking out my author page!

I was originally born and brought up in a cathedral city in England, but moved to America a few years ago. I've always written erotica, and have been published in magazines like Hustler and Jacques on both sides of the Atlantic.

I have an INCREDIBLY eclectic range of sexual tastes, and most of them find their way into my stories in one way or another! Most of my adventures are based around a fictional married couple, Gina and Simon, and the crazy and explicit adventures they have.

I'm really turned on by slutty wives, cuckold husbands, interracial erotica and good, old-fashioned orgies and gangbangs. I have a particular kink for impregnation and breeding; and you'll find many of my heroines aren't as careful about their birth control options as I recommend you be in real life!

I am also turned on by the idea of sexual reluctance, or even out-and-out rape fantasies. It's not that I want to get raped - just that rape fantasy is a way to explore wild and kinky sexual activities without getting labeled a "slut" for wanting them.

I hope you enjoy my stories, and welcome any feedback or suggestions on how to make them better!

XO

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. So, honestly, this book took me out of my comfort zone. I am not a fan of cheating spouses or rape and both of those topics were covered in this book.Simone Scarlet did a nice job of breaching the topic of a rape victim trying to continue on in their life in a very tasteful manner. That being said, this book was entertaining. Brandon "Bruiser" Broderick had an affair with two women who's children were students at his karate school. When the affairs are discovered the respective husbands handle the situations differently. Ava is one of the cheaters involved. When her husband finds out he kicks her out of the house. She turns to Brandon who thought it was best to avoid the whole situation by staying away from her. Ava then turns to her ex-boyfriend Rob. Rob is angry with both Ava and Brandon. Rob wanted to get with Ava and was upset to find out Brandon had beat him to it. Rob, who is a former MMA fighter now turned coach/trainer, had been training Brandon and felt like he was betrayed. (Ummm...Rob is not even the husband...???). Clark, Ava's husband, is upset but angrier with Brandon than he is his wife. Then Ava and Rob start having sex. This was a little far fetched for me. Clark just seems to accept it. He does not get mad at Rob but uses the fact to his advantage. Brandon then meets Bailey. Bailey has baggage and is not searching for a boyfriend. This story follows Rob, Ava, Bailey, Clark, and Brandon with a few other hilarious characters sprinkled in. I really struggled through the beginning but was glad I finished the book. The second half was really good. Some of the supporting characters offer great comedic relief and the story ended up really entertaining. Overall, it was an OK read.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

Wow, great book! This is the first time I read Simone Scarlet’s books. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book that I could not put it down. I enjoyed the characters, especially Brandon “Bruiser” Broderick, a MMA fighter and karate instructor. Since owning the karate school, Brandon (who is single, sexy, handsome, and muscular) was also having affairs with two of the mothers bringing their kids to the school. Ava Cassidy, mother, who helped Brandon with his school’s books, also has an affair with Brandon and finds out that she was not his only lover. When her husband, Clark Cassidy, finds out, she is asked to leave the house. Brandon is challenged to a showdown by Ava’s husband, who is not a MMA fighter. This story is intense and the searing sensuality that was created in this book will leave you gasping for air. You will need to read the book to find out about the great fight, which will put you on the edge of your seat.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Honestly, when I first started reading this book It took a bit to get into it. I found myself some what confused in the beginning of the story and found it hard to follow, and it took me a bit longer to read than most books. The story seemed to skip around a lot between between characters and their partners and extra marital partners . Probably about half way through the story it started to all connect and became a bit more interesting and easier to read.
Overall it was a good read just a bit hard to follow in the beginning.

This book was definitely a very hot read. In my opinion It started out a bit crowded by the different story lines in the beginning. However, by the end all of the stories were well melded. I was not too keen on the aspect of rape, or the cheating, but that is me.
Ms. Scarlet did a really great job writing this story in all of the blending of the different storylines. She made the book very believable. Kudos
I received an arc of this book for my honest review. If you like MMA books, you will like this book. But keep your fan out, you may need it.
Thank you for reading my review.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a little difficult to get into (so many people with so much background to sort out), but I'm glad I stuck with it.

There are five main characters, only two of which I liked. The other three were necessary in order for the main character's story to be told.

While I may not have liked all of the characters, and it took a bit to get into, I really did like the main character's story. This is a book I would recommend.
