Rate this book
Billionaire shifter Morgan Rosemont’s family just showed up in Silver Peak for a surprise visit, and he’s in big trouble. So why does he find himself calling her in to his office and making a deal with the devil?
Valerie Dickinson has had it with working for shifters – and working for Morgan Rosemont, most of all. He’s rude, he’s arrogant, and he can’t see that his full figured secretary is secretly in love with him. She’s already accepted a new job when Morgan makes her an offer she can’t refuse. Pretend to be his mate through the holiday season, and he’ll bail out her grandparents failing business. Now, all she has to do is sleep chastely in the same bed with the sexiest wolf in Montana, prevent his snooty mother from starting a war with the local humans, and figure out who’d rather see her dead than mated to Morgan Rosemont.

Georgette St. Clair writes hot, sexy romances starring Alpha heroes. The road to love may be rocky and fraught with peril (and humor and scorchtastic sex and healthy heapings of snark), but her shifters will stop at nothing to claim the women they love.

Georgette has worn many hats in life: newspaper reporter, EMT, internet marketer, cocktail waitress, temp, nurse’s aide (not in chronological order).

When she’s not rescuing fur-babies, she spends her days in a fantasy universe where she nudges her smart-mouthed, take-no-gruff heroines onto paths which will set them on a collision course with true love.

not a big fan... and honestly couldn't tell if the writing of the plus size heroine was body positive or fetishy/fatphobic so basically i wouldn't recommend this

One of the nice things about overdosing on Christmas books is diving into a previously undiscovered series. This book was so good that I’m planning on reading more in this series.
These characters are funny and well written. Loved this world! 🤗

Deck the halls

What a fantastic holiday story. The author included all the hallmarks of the holidays, the bossy mom, the family fighting, the overzealous neighbors, and that special someone who makes it all okay. I enjoyed the characters, even the ones I would have preferred removing from the premises, and the excitement of a mating gave it that extra touch of excitement.... and danger. This author always does a fantastic job with her shifters and I look forward to reading the next book she brings our way.

This was a very enjoyable Christmas shifter story. I loved both Morgan and Valerie and their banter together. This had romance, humour and a tiny mystery which all made for a fun read. I wish the ending could have been a little more fleshed out, as it felt very rushed, but otherwise another enjoyable read from Georgette!

Billionaire Alpha shifter Morgan Rosemont is a tyrant. He lives to work and takes no prisoners in getting what he wants, his whole life focuses on work. He doesn't know why he puts up with his mouth secretary Valerie, but she does an excellent job so he bares the burden, plus all the other secretaries quit. He doesn't know that Valerie is ready to hand in her notice, she wants to settle in Silver Peak and Morgan moves as soon as a project is done.

Neither expected Morgan's family to arrive, his time to find a mate and stay Alpha is close to an end. Now he needs a mate, a fake one until he can go over a list of suitable mates, it will be a business merger, nothing more. However, for now he pretends Valerie is his mate and his families reaction is not good at all. Someone is after his faux mate and he is quickly realizing he has feelings for Valerie and doesn't want to let her go.

Very fun read. I liked that Valerie says it as it is with Morgan. Had several twists I did not expect and it helped elevate the story. Entertaining read.

I know this storyline had been done before, but the author did an awesome job making it feel fresh. Love the Silver Peak series, this is no exception.

Okay a few things first. Did I download the sample of this book because I saw Chandler Ainsley mention the main character is plus sized? Yes. Was I still curious days later after seeing her review wanting to know what the fuck this book was about? Yes. Did I buy the ebook because this takes place in Montana(where I live). You bet. I fan girl anytime anyone mentions Montana because outside of us that live here, everyone I’ve ever talked to doesn’t even know where we are on a map, thinks we are Wyoming, or think we still use horses as a means of transportation. (Which side note, doesn’t make a lick of sense. If you’re traveling through do we make you park your car and ride by horse til you reach the broader? You think I’m kidding but I’ve been asked more than once if we have cars) Anyway, did I like this book? Weirdly yes.

This is so far out of my comfort zone. Something I would’ve never picked up had I not used the excuse of it being a “Christmas book.” Heres a list of all the reasons why I wouldn’t have touched it: 1) the cover 2) the title 3) it’s about werewolves(stan team Edward forever. Jacob who?) I could keep going but those are the main points. I do think this could have improved with better fat rep. I mean we don’t get that great of a description. Like she’s overweight but that could mean she has large thighs and a “larger” than “normal” stomach. This book had a decent enough over all conflict but the minor conflict between the two main characters was a barely there conflict that could have been explored more. Yes I understand this is just a novella but still. Huge character development is such a let down when not used to its highest potential. But I was hella entertained. Like woke up at 6:45 this morning to take a bath before my 2 year old woke up to read in peace type of entertained.

Will I read the others in the series? I have no idea. I’m slightly curious but I don’t know if it’s enough for me to seek these out. Maybe I will in 2020. But I still need it finish some other books I want to get to before the year is over (rereading the hating game for the 4th time). Priorities.

I can’t believe I went into this much for a review on a book about werewolves. My twihard heart is conflicted as hell. Don’t tell Edward.

After picking this up as a standalone Christmas read. I have to say, I was pretty disappointed, which is why I'm giving it two stars.
Look, I get what the author was trying to do here - a Christmas-themed paranormal romance with the classic fake-relationship trope. And honestly, that could've been fun! But right from the start, I struggled to connect with either of the main characters. Morgan comes across as your typical alpha-billionaire-shifter without much personality beyond being domineering and, frankly, kind of a jerk. Even knowing he secretly loved Valerie from day one didn't make his behaviour any more appealing.
Valerie had potential - I usually enjoy seeing a strong-willed heroine who can stand up to an alpha hero. But her character never really developed beyond surface-level traits like being curvy and snarky. I wanted to understand more about what made her tick beyond just reacting to Morgan's behavior.
The pacing really threw me off too. The story kind of meanders through all these family dynamics and pack politics (which, I'll admit, did capture some relatable Christmas family chaos), but then suddenly rushes to wrap everything up at the end. There's this whole subplot about someone trying to kill Valerie that felt tacked on and wasn't resolved in a satisfying way.
I will say the banter between Morgan and Valerie occasionally made me chuckle, and some of the Christmas elements added nice seasonal touches. But these bright spots weren't enough to make up for the sketchy plot and underdeveloped characters.
Maybe if I'd read the previous books in the series, I'd feel more invested in this world and these characters. But as someone jumping in for a holiday read, I found it pretty forgettable. If you're looking for a paranormal Christmas romance, there are probably better options out there. This one just didn't bring enough magic to make it worth recommending.

Valerie is quitting no matter what her shifter boss has to say. (5 minutes later) She’s mated to him.

Valerie has decided to move-on. She has worked for her shape-shifter Alpha boss for three years now and she might be falling for him. Valerie has not told him yet because he tends to be grouchy around Christmas. Well, really any time of the month or year he is grouchy, but especially around the holidays.

Morgan does not think he is grouchy. He just does not have time for playing. He has to take care of everyone, except he forgot to take care of one tiny detail. He was supposed to have picked out a mate before the deadline. So he told his mother a tiny lie and said he did.

Then his family shows up en masse at his office demanding to meet his mate.

Georgette St. Clair gives us a very funny, sweet, and sexy romance for the holidays with A Very Shifty Christmas (B019JK4HKU, 2015). She has also thrown in a very dysfunctional family with some very witty one-liners. Add in some family fights, snarky insults, and an occasional near death accident and it is the usual holiday fun.
St. Clair does give us some very steamy love scenes between Valerie and Morgan. She even adds in reality at times, which I appreciate (I am thinking about the igloo here (giggle)).

Overall you have mystery, mayhem, sarcasm, sex, and a happy ending - you cannot ask for more for the holidays. ✶✶✶✶

A Very Shifty Christmas is the third book in the “Shifters Of Silver Peak” series.

Short and sweet, book 3 felt like a mix of book 1 & 2. My biggest pet peeve with the female protagonist though was that both book 1 & 3 they are described as being bigger girls who both try hiding their bodies when getting intimate with their love interests. 1 in a book fine but both come on? Why not write about the woman loving and owning her curves! 🤦‍♀️

Anyway we’re knew the characters from book 1 but I didn’t realize that her boss the alpha wolf shifter who owns a developing company is crazy rich with a very snobby family. Luckily our female protagonist who is human that was a first has been his assistant for 3 years and knows how to put her boss and his family in their place.

There was a few attempts at her life we found out at the end who was trying to kill her and why. The book was also similar to book 2 in the fact that they were pretending to be mates, until they fell in love and actually became mates.

The part with the poor human child being adopted by his snub by mom was probably my favourite part of this book!

Morgen Rosemont is a wealthy businessman who is Alpha To his clan and has to have found his mate within a week or it will go to someone else. Morgan’s secretary Valerie a very efficient and loyal employee has been with Morgen for longer than anyone, Morgen is a disagreeable Boss but pays well. Eileen is visiting Valerie (Morgens secretary) during her lunch hour when Morgen’s mother and siblings show up and demand to know who he has chosen for a mate. Morgen just scowls and Eileen tells Morgen’s mother that Valerie is his chosen mate. Not a true statement.......this is the very basic beginning to a wond erfully written suspenseful romantic story and I loved it. I was given this in a free book giveaway and I voluntarily leave this review..

This is the kind of Christmas romance that I like: the story just happens to take place at Christmas, but the holiday doesn't really figure into the story much. I enjoyed the narrator, Stella Bloom, as well as the town and the shifter mythology that St. Clair created for this series. This was another quick read (3.5 hours on audio) with a little more mystery than the romances I usually read. The only downside of all three books is the sex scenes. They are well written but too explicit to go with the cozy mystery feel of the rest of the story, so I have to be selective as to who I recommend them to.

I find Georgette’s books really easy listening.

There is usually some for on prejudice against the FMC - she is either curvy, human, stuck up or a walkover. The MMC is normally muscled, grouchy but has a sweet spot for the FMC and will defend/ stick up for her and get everyone to see things more openly.

There is also always a good bit of spice and love between the main characters (even if it is only made clear to each other near the end). I like that there is very little angst and although there is the ‘oh no!’ moment, it doesn’t last long.

Valerie works for billionaire wolf shifter Morgan. He’s so miserable that he can’t keep his assistants for very long. Valerie has actually managed to last three years, but she’s ready to call its quits. Before she can, she ends up being his pretend mate. His pack is not impressed that Valerie is a human and others are looking to claim the alpha spot. Not only that, it’s beginning to look like someone is out to kill Valerie.

Morgan Rosemont & Valerie Dickinson

After meeting these two in the previous book I was expecting grumpy/sunshine banter. I definitely wasn't expecting the hint of mystery that was a part of this story.

Overall, I liked it I just wanted more fun, less mystery with a good amount of sexy thrown in.

Still, the mystery aspect was good, and the villain was more conniving than I was expecting.

Valerie has worked for Morgan for 3 years. She is ready to move on, but ends up caught in a web of misdirection when Morgan’s family arrives thinking he has chosen a mate. The pretend turns to reality as they are off in the woods for three days.
There is danger as some of the family would like to see Morgan displaced from his spot as alpha.
Content warning: sex in an igloo...don’t ask.

A enjoyable Christmas read with relatable characters and a non-tyical holiday story
I enjoyed the banter and interaction between Morgan and Valarie and Morgan's family as well as the growth of their characters.
I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series

Another really cute short story by the author. Shifter romance.

She is his secretary and in love with him. he has barely noticed her, or so she thinks.

He is about to lose his pack because he doesn't have a mate, so he pretends she is his mate. Their attraction grows, and he confesses he loves her even though she is human.

Family tries and kills he.

A Very Shifty Christmas

Morgan a Wolf Shifter and the Alpha of the Pack, was really screwed this time. The pack old rules that he had to be mated by his thirty year birthday, if not mated, he will lose his Alpha status. Valarie Dickerson a human was his personal assistant.Morgan had been in love with Valerie since day one!

Sweet

This short book has punchy characters and an easy to follow plot. Morgan is a self proclaimed asshole who is secretly pining for his secretary. He would have gone his entire life and died without even telling her or making a move if others hadn’t stepped in. Respectful af (except to poor people)

This one was so cute! I loved them together in the little tidbits in the second book and laughed at her reactions to his shit. This was a really cute, funny, light, quick read (as is the usual with this author). I loved them together and I thought they were perfect. Teddy is adorable and her mother is a bitch, Nelda is one of those characters that seems snooty and doesn't care, but you warm up to her at the end...sort of. The ending happens right after the villain is revealed and the epilogue is the wrap up which is new for this series, usually she does a wrap up in the last chapter and the epilogue is a little more onto the story-it's a good change. The back and forth between them was hilarious *snickers* herringbone. This one takes the best of the first two books (writing and character development) in the series and puts them together. This will definitely be a reread for me in the future.

Loved the humor and strong women in this series. This is a romance where the human female, Valerie, definitely has enough sass in her to catch the grumpy shifter, Morgan. This story will make you laugh out loud.

Enjoyed the story of Morgan and Valerie the banter and all the making of a good flowing theme of a pack not sure of a human mate in the mix but all the twist and turns that made it a go entertaining story.

An office romance that isn't really an office romance...
Valerie is sassy, sly and doesn't tolerate anyone's bullshit, especially not Morgan's.
And he is a typical example where he appreciates someone when he (almost) loses them.
An unusual couple, but opposites attract.

A little Christmas holiday wink on this next novel in the series. The couple is a good one, with another fake relationship trope. I liked it, the plot was good and not too much over the top (as in Evil against the oh so innocent main characters).
