Marcus Baird has been called a lot of things: Scottish bastard, heartless, ruthless, but thanks to his new neighbor, he could add ginger buff guy. The ruthless part is true, at least. His current occupation as a handyman is a front to fuel a bidding war between his former employer and the next private equity firm in his sights—an undertaking that should have all his attention, but Ivy makes him an offer he cannot refuse.

When Ivy Stewart imagined losing her virginity, she was at least a decade younger, a yes away from marriage, and her perfect man would make sweet, slow love to her. Waiting for that dream to unfold has kept her watching life from the sidelines. She's done biding her time. It's foolhardy to choose Marcus. He's a man with secrets and an ugly past, but he's honest about what their relationship will be, charming and...he's very good with his hands.

Since Marcus took Ivy into his bed, he's lived a lie. He could be the man she needs. He isn't a workaholic and he doesn't really have a heart of stone. But it's only a matter of time before Ivy finds out the truth, and once again he's nothing but a Scottish bastard.

Melissa Blue's writing career started on a typewriter one month after her son was born. This would have been an idyllic situation for a writer if it had been 1985, not 2004. Eventually she upgraded to a computer. She's still typing away on the same computer, making imaginary people fall in love.

Love this series!

I'm at work (behind of course) and I have to say that I absolutely love Marcus and Ivy. Just as I've loved the others. I want to be invited to hang out to Abby. You'll meet her, she's awesome too. I'm horrible at writing these, so to avoid spoilers, I'll say how I felt reading it.
I was invested emotionally. I wanted to kick Marcus in the shins more than once (Team Abby). I wanted to be the other big sister and TP his house. I almost cried but held it together because I'm at work and I have to pretend I can adult. Totally worth the read. Get the others too because I think she's stupid awesome.

Great, sexy pairing

4.5 stars. I loved this, but also wish it was a teeny tiny bit longer or with different outcome for the hero’s actions. Marcus is kind of a jerk CEO at one point and I’m not convinced he redeemed himself for it. But honestly, before that aspect of the plot, it was a 5 star. I just adored and related hard to Ivy.

Ivy and Marcus worth taking the risk

Love has a funny way of creeping up on you. As we follow the story of Marcus and Ivy we learn what it means to let your guard down. Marcus the strong alpha male had to be vulnerable in a way that was true in action and in words. Ivy had to take a risk that defied everything she had been led to believe. Through it all they two came together and let nature take its course.

You also appreciated visits from Callan and Tristan as they were voices of reasons for Marcus. While Grant was the friend who drove it home for Marcus to see the error of his ways.

Followed with Addy being the best sister and friend Ivy needed to talk through her thoughts and love her with all that she had.

My New favorite Author!!!

I read the first book in this series and immediately purchased the the rest. The characters are wonderful!, funny and yes sexy. I liked that the H/h took time to build a relationship and didn't jump in bed within hours of meeting, that's the problem with most of these book and why I usually do the free books. I don't like to waste my money. Ms Blue your books are worth the price. They are not to long that they start to bore me then I start just flipping pages or just skip to the end. I you want a book with great storylines, funny characters that actually grow as a couple you will absolutely love this series.

In love with all lol the Baird men

Marcus is definitely my fav of all of them. Love how Ivy summed up all his commitment issues and got him to not only overcome them, but fall in love. A really good read about love and overcoming your past crap...plus...what's sexier than a Scot falling in love with an unlikely match. Gives me hope lol.

I need to find me a Marcus Baird....more Scotsmen please lol.

The story is really cute and short. I adore Melissa Blue’s work. I enjoyed Ivy and Marcus as a couple. Cute and steamy although I’m tired of the virgin trope.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator did a great with Marcus. The Scottish accent was on point however, she made Ivy sound unhinged and a little drunk. Please hire male and female characters when the books calls for it.

First, there's a kilt! And she sets up the next two books.

But, boy, did Melissa Blue break my heart with this book. I cried. I never cry. A genius with the heartstrings, she is. It is an excellent book.

DNF. I can't. The premise barely even makes sense, one of the first things he says to her is about her tits, and the first 80 odd pages are just reiterations telling you how the guy is an asshole without anything showing how or why he is or how or why you should like him anyway.

Melissa Blue has done it again: made me absolutely adore the sexy Scotsmen she creates. Marcus, our ruthless CEO who's pretending to be a handyman to get the company and the position he wants, is very, very sexy. And he thinks he doesn't have the capacity to fall in love. Now, I usually avoid any stores about ruthless businessmen, because they usually bore me. But Marcus and his backstory are quite intriguing. And then there is Ivy--who is a virgin even those she's closing in on thirty--but she's not one of these insipid ones that goes around saying "holy cow!" or talking about her "inner goddess". She's kickass and she feels authentic and real.

What I really enjoyed about Scot Appeal (and the entire Under the Kilt series) is that the relationships and the conflicts the main characters experience feels very grounded and realistic. These are adults dealing with adult problems and behaving like proper adults and not as overgrown teenagers. And the way race is addressed is very subtle without it becoming an overblown sticking point.

Following this story of unlikely neighbors who become lovers was so much fun. I admit: I ignored my yummy Swedish hubby to finish reading this book and he was a good sport about it. I will have to make it up to him this weekend. :)

I loved Scot Appeal and the chemistry between Marcus and Ivy, and I think you will too.

Best thing about Scot Appeal--the key characters, Ivy and Marcus. The second best thing? The secondary characters. People: their feelings, their interactions, their dialogue--this is what Ms Blue does superbly.

Ivy and Marcus breathe off the page (I want Ivy as a friend). Any angst is low key which makes the developing relationship between these two all the more credible. Yes, Marcus has issues but he's not a drama queen about it, he just boxes it away. Ivy's having none of that.

A great read, but be warned, a lot of the text catches fire. Ms Blue writes dirty! She does so extremely well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Kilts and Scots are appealing

What do I do now that I've read all the books in the series!? Well I will write this review and go to sleep. I think in the other reviews I talk about the Bairds' well I think I need to talk about the the ladies that end up with the men. They are perfect match and can put these Scots in there place. They don't back down and they fight for the love they know they deserve and the love that they see in these men that the men couldn't see in themselves. It you like a good love story and hot scenes of hot, passionate love read The Kilt series and it being an interracial relationships is cherry and chopped nuts on top!

Brilliant!

This was great! Written with a bit of tongue in cheek humor, like the others before it Melissa Blue writes a complete story in each. O started reading the trilogy set and couldn't stop reading until I dropped my e-reader on my face fighting sleep. If that doesn't let you know how much I enjoyed it nothing will!

I loved this series

I loved this series and this book is another hit. There were very few typo's. Is this the end of the "kilt" series? I would have loved to know if the hero stayed a CEO or did he move back to Scotland?

Another good one

I love this series! Love that heroines are not sappy, simple-minded, silly women. Hey, how can you go wrong with a Scot?! Um...I was thinking Addy and Grant would make an awesome couple.

Another enjoyable installment to this series.

I really liked Ivy and Marcus, but Adeline and Grant almost stole their shine. I'm hoping we get to see these two again in their own books - or better yet, a book together. :-)

Well done, Ms. Blue!
