Aimed at beginners, this book shows how beautiful images can be created from repeating patterns. Accredited Zentangle teacher Jane Marbaix demonstrates a range of patterns one step at a time and offers a sourcebook of her own designs to inspire tanglers to try something different. Proven to reduce stress and enhance creativity in people of all ages, Zentangle does not require a background in practical art or expensive materials to produce pleasing results.
First the book sings the praises of doing zentangle for the experience itself, regardless of the finished product. Then the rest of the book is spent suggesting ways to make more appealing finished pieces.
Also maddening - the book tells us that shading is vital to several of the included zentangle patterns, but gives no instruction on how to do shading.
It's a nice collection of ideas if you're already somewhat familiar with zentangle, or with basic drawing.
I have been tangling for several years now, but this book definitely brought some basics back to my drawings as well as different patterns to use and try within my art. I enjoyed this book and it definitely inspired me to do more art, daily!!!
This is a great book to learn about the art of zentangle. It teaches you step by step how to achieve the different patterns used. A must have for anyone wanting to learn how to zentangle.
Good for reminders, beginners but has a lot of suggestions for Zentangle-inspired art that I won't use. A few new tangles, some strings I like, and some pretty amazing pieces done by the author and many more.
There are a lot of Zentangle books out there, it is hard to find the one that gives the information clear and concise . Loved the glossary where all the tangles are represented in art form as well as how to draw. It makes an easy to find reference.
