Carter Bravo's Christmas Bride by Christine Rimmer is a 2015 Harlequin Special Edition publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a charming read and just the right kind of story to kick off your holiday reading.
Carter and Paige are best friends and business partners and up until now, it's never occurred to them to test the waters of a deeper kind of relationship…. Or so they claim.
But, when a magazine quiz plants the seed in their minds, on top of the manipulations of a meddling relative, Carter becomes convinced it is time to settle down and get married, AND decides Paige is the logical choice. But, Paige is not exactly blown away by his proposal. Can he convince her to marry him even though he loves her, but has never said anything about being IN love with her?
Paige is now raising her younger sister after the death of their parents, and is trying to move on from a bitter break-up. Carter's proposal is tempting, especially since she IS in love with Carter. But, is Paige willing to settle for a one sided love affair? Or can she manage get Carter to fall in love with her too?
This is a delightful friends to lovers story, but it's an extra special romance due to the holiday setting and the very cool way the couple manages to work out their feelings. I don't want to say too much, but don't be too hard on Carter. He's clueless, and his motives might be little suspect, but I got the impression there was something kind of mischievous about him. Of course he has some things to work out before he can be what Paige needs him to be, but Paige's character also saw some character growth as she too discovered a little soul searching was in order.
The secondary characters were also a big part of this story, with Paige's younger sister stealing a few scenes along the way.
I really enjoyed this installment in the series and with the holiday atmosphere adding a touch of warmth, it's an especially sweet story. 4.5 stars
Excellent friends to lovers story. Carter and Paige have been friends for eight years and business partners for five. He has seen his friends and relatives finding their perfect mates and getting married, and wants that for himself, but hasn't had any luck finding the right woman. A not-so-subtle push from his mother has him looking at Paige. Add a magazine quiz to that and suddenly both of them are looking at each other differently and wondering about the possibilities.
Paige is just about ready to tell Carter how she feels when he comes to her with a proposal of marriage. According to him, they're perfect for each other. They already have a deep friendship, and lots in common. They don't need all that love drama to be happy together. How about if they get engaged and see how it goes? Now Paige isn't sure what to do. Does she go ahead and accept a one-sided relationship? Tell him no? Or say yes and hope that he overcomes his aversion to love?
For all his obliviousness, I really liked Carter. He is a sweet guy who really cares about Paige and her sister Dawn. He just has a really bad hangup about love. He grew up with a mother who was known for her over-the-top emotional reactions in the name of love, and he wanted no part of that. Unfortunately for him, every woman he got involved with wanted at least some of that drama, which would then be the end of that relationship. Once he started looking at Paige in that way, he remembered what he had felt when he first met her, and decided to see if it was still there. The attraction is strong and he uses it to make his point about being together.
I also liked Paige. She had left college and come home to take care of her sister when their parents died. At the same time, the man she was involved with broke it off with her because he didn't want to be stuck taking care of Dawn. This has made Paige a bit cautious about trusting another man, but her friendship with Carter means everything to her. Realizing that she's in love with him throws her into a tailspin and she's not sure how to handle it. A businesslike marriage proposal from him isn't what she was looking for, but she can't deny the heat between them.
I loved seeing the two of them together. They know each other so well that they can tell when there is something wrong, and can usually talk it out. Paige's calmness is a good counterpoint to the drama of Carter's family life and keeps him grounded. Though Carter refuses to even consider the idea of love, his feelings for Paige show in the way he takes care of her and her sister. As their engagement goes on, it's obvious just how right they are for each other. But Carter hasn't told Paige about his mother's plan, fearing what her reaction will be, and the longer he waits the harder it gets. When it all blows up in his face, Carter succumbs to drama of his own and pushes her away, before realizing that love isn't a dirty word at all. Paige also realizes that she has made some mistakes of her own. The ending was really sweet and romantic.
I loved Paige's sister Dawn. They have a great relationship with each other and easily made Carter part of it. I really enjoyed seeing Dawn get involved in showing Paige and Carter that they belonged together. It was fun to see her reaction the morning she found him sneaking out of the house. I also loved the way that she was protective of Paige, but also understood Carter's feelings. Her part in getting them back together was just right.
I liked seeing other members of the Bravo family. Each one of them made sure that they told Carter that they knew he belonged with Paige. It was fun to see both he and Paige react to the idea that they were the last to realize they were in love with each other.
"Carter Bravo's Christmas Bride" by Chrstine Rimmer is a wonderfully written story about best friends, Carter Bravo and Paige Kettleman realizing they are in love. It starts off innocently enough as the couple jokingly take a love quiz in a magazine. At first, Paige is freaking out and has a whirlwind of emotions as she realizes that the L word or the lack there of is usually the demise of Carters's previous relationships with women. Could she really be in love with Carter? She doesn't want to lose her best friend. Paige isn't sure what to do and spends several days in a funk thinking. When Paige finally works up the nerve to talk to him about her feelings, She is blown away by the fact that Carter suggests they get married and have a family. He tells her she compliments him in every way. Most importantly she is his best friend, they don't need love and all that drama to be happy. Carter spent his childhood watching his overly dramatic do crazy things in the of love. So he wants no part of this four letter word. Carter is planning to use his head instead of his heart in his search for a family. What Paige doesn't realize Carter's mother has bought a piece of property, that Carter has had his eye on to expand his company. Unbeknownst to Paige Carter's mother offers Carter the land to to him as a gift but only as a marriage present. In a round about way this leads Carter into proposing a trial engagement between he and Paige. Carter is already been discovering the benefits of having a domestic relationship and engagement with Paige. The only problem is that Carter keeps putting off telling Paige about his mother's deal because he doesn't want her to believe that is the only reason that he asked her to marry him. This leads to him telling a few lies that leave him holding the bag and I am not talking about Santa's either. Things I love about Paige, she left college one semester shy of a degree to come home and take care of her younger sister after her parents died in an accident. Paige and her sister have a close bond that branches out to include Carter. Paige has a witty sense of humor and her sarcastic comebacks keep Carter grounded. Paige is very calm and rational, she provides the stability that Carter has been searching for in his relationships. Paige even holds it together at her engagement party when she accidentally ease drops on a discussion between Carter and his mother talking about her bribe to give him the parcel of land he wanted a wedding. Things I love about Carter, even though he wouldn't allow himself to say the words I love you. He expresses his love in a variety of ways. Carter comes over to Paige's most mornings to walk her dog and prepare the sisters breakfast. He also takes Paige's sister Christmas shopping secretly buying her the gift she wants. Because of Carter's negative connotations where love are concerned and how he hates drama, one of the most poignant displays of emotion is revealed when Paige finds out the truth and Carter just looses it and pushes her away. He ends up being alone and miserable at Christmas. He gets none of the who pudding and none of the roast beast. Carter finally comes to his senses and decides to get his family. Realizing Love isn't such an ugly word after all. And the emotion leads to what he has always wanted, a family. For Carter and Paige, discovering love started with a quiz and is resolved with finding out the truth to a lie. Carter has to learn not only to show his love but that saying it is the best Christmas gift of all. I would highly recommend this book. Thank you, Christine Rimmer for a great stocking stuffer.
Saya membaca sambil menahan kantuk berat. Cuma menjelang ending Paige jadi baper (lupa sebabnya apa, sptnya gara-gara sogokan ibu Carter itu deh) dan jadinya Carter hrs merayu gadis ini.
Tema teman menjadi kekasih itu topik yg umum. Tapi alur novel ini beneran gak menawarkan sesuatu pun yg baru. Kuis yg menggambarkan Paige mencintai Carter juga gak jelas isinya. Suasana Natal yg dideskripsikan juga biasa saja. Not my type novel Harlequin ini. Sepertinya hrs mencoba baca yg lain.
Serial Bravo Family #45. Wow. Seriously? Sampai segitu banyaknya cerita ttg satu keluarga?
Tinggal bagaimana caranya agar Carter mau mengakui perasaannya sendiri.
Thanks to Harlequin and Netgally for the book in exchange for a honest review.
Once again, I'm back with the Bravos. I'll admit that at first I wasn't really enjoying Carter. He seemed cocky and emotionally cut off, which he was. He told Paige about her love for him in jest and it hit her like a lightening bolt, that he was right!
Paige and Carter have been best friends for a long time. They just get each other. He helps her with her sister, and they are business partners. Carter doesn't believe in love. He watched his mom throw out his dad over and over again, and yet claim to love him more than anything. How can love exist if that's the example he had for it? It was also pointed out that Carter and Paige are perfect for each other, everyone already thinks they're together, that starts things moving around his head too. It takes longer for it to come to him but he's comfortable with Paige, he likes her and her sister. They work well together why not transition that in to a marriage. It'd just be adding benefits *wink*.
Paige is comfortable with Carter, being friends for as long as they have been how could she not be? While waiting for a meeting he does a silly quiz about love and your best friend and answers all the questions the way she would. It sparks something in her and she starts thinking too much and realizes that she is in fact in love with Carter and he HATES love. It's fake and over-used. When he proposes that they make their business relationship more, a marriage, she says yes because she does love him and she figures she can live with the fact that he'd be devoted to her but not love her. The only question she keeps having is can she live with the fact that her husband will never love her the way she loves him.
Like I said I had a hard time enjoying Carter at first. He was a little off putting. In the end he redeemed himself quite nicely. I liked Paige and her sister Dawn. It's always nice to see other characters from the books before. If you're a fan of the Bravos and a fan of Christine Rimmer, you'll enjoy this one too. Leave the author love in the form of a review.
Oh, I loved this story! There's so much emotion in it, happiness, joy, passion, even hurt and pain. But love wins. The relationship between Carter and Paige has been so well balanced, or so it seems. They are best friends, business partners, and they raised together Paige's younger sister after their parents died. But the whole town knows something these two are not aware of - they are not only perfect for each other, they are in love with each other. The banter and charm these two have in between themselves put a smile on my face. And when they stumble into this awkward arrangement of an engagement, it is fun and entertaining to watch them try to figure it all out, admit the feelings they have for each other, stop the games they have been playing, and bring all the hidden feelings out and open to each other. Hot and steamy, yet sweet and loving, Carter and Paige find new aspects in each other, falls even harder for each other, and finds out, they just can't function without the other in their lives. There's difficult family situations, all knowing younger siblings, best friends completely enamored with each other. The story is filled with high emotions and passion, Christmas magic, and adorable dogs. I loved it! ~ Five Spoons
Carter Bravos Christmas Bride by Christine Rimmer is part of the series The Bravo's of Justice Creek. The book stands on its own. You do not have to read other books in series to follow the book. I really enjoyed the book.I enjoyed the interactions of the main couple Carter and Paige with the people of the community family and friends. Carter and Paige start as friends, business partners, then become engaged and then lovers. The book had twist and turns, but their love wins in the end. I really enjoyed the book and could not put it down. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a good romance. review crew.
Did you ever just want to smack a guy on the side of his head and ask what the heck is wrong with you? Boy, Carter inspired violence in me with his utter foolishness... However, I did love reading his story and thought they made a wonderful couple. This was a fun read and great addition to the Bravo world!
I love stories of friends who become lovers! Throw in some meddling family member's and you have a great story. I found myself rooting for Carter even though he is clueless when it comes to what he really wants. It was a great story.

Paige is hoping the Christmas Season known for love, peace and miracles will bring a miracle for her and Carter. She has loved him for years. He has let past hurts incrust his heart in ice. These two have a wedding looming, but will it be warm and filled with love or will it rival the cold of the weather? Meet some old friends and watch as the story unfolds. A romance and Christmas story rolled into one.
This i the third book, but can be read as a stand alone. Although you may want to plan on reading the others soon as Christine Rimmer has a way of drawing readers into her stories that has them wanting to return to Justice Creek and the Bravos often.
My rating of "Carter's Bravo's Christmas Bride" is 5 out of 5 stars.
Maka setelahnya isi novel banyak adegan bermesraan mereka.
;p banyakan dialog yg ringan...
Carter Bravo’s Christmas Bride – This latest book in the Bravos series by Christine Rimmer is well worth reading. This particular Bravo grew up watching what his mother did in the name of love and he has never said the “L” word to a woman. Enter Paige Kettleman. At first, Carter expressed his interest in her and asked her out. Paige, having been through a painful relationship that ended when she had to go home to raise her younger sister after their parents’ deaths, wanted no part of a relationship with Carter. Five years later shows Carter and Paige as best friends and partners in a successful business. Best friends, that is, until one of those “fun” relationship quizzes reveals to Paige that she is in love with her best friend. Carter has had enough of girlfriends who want to hear that “L” word from him and dramatically exit his life when they don’t get it. At the same time, he has decided he needs to get married and have children. Who better than his non-dramatic best friend to fill the part of his bride? Paige agreed to a trial engagement through the upcoming Christmas holiday. With the help of Paige’s sister, Dawn, and Dawn’s best friend, Molly, (and even from Carter’s interfering mother), Carter realizes he is in love with Paige and they both decide to make the trial engagement a real one. This fun, tender story makes it a perfect gift for you or a friend for Christmas.
Carter Bravo’s Christmas Bride is Christine Rimmer’s newest novel in her Bravo of Justice Creek series. It is a friends to lovers themed romance. Carter Bravo and Paige Kettleman are business partners. Carter owns Bravo Custom cars. One afternoon while they are waiting to meet with one of their clients, Carter discovers a quiz in a magazine. The premise of the quiz is: is he your friend or are you secretly in love with him? From the moment they take the quiz, their lives change. Not only do they question their feelings for one another, Carter is given an ultimatum for a piece of property that he really wants to buy. His mother has secretly purchased it out from under him and she’s promised to sign it over to him as a wedding present.
So starts the reflection of feelings that he has for Paige while she can’t get over what was unearthed when she reflected on her answers to the quiz. Will they decide to take the chance on marriage? Ms. Rimmer delivers another fantastic addition to the series. This is a quick read as I read it in one sitting. I highly recommend Carter Bravo’s Christmas Bride along with any of the other books in Ms. Rimmer’s various Bravo series. I’d like to disclose that I received a copy of Carter Bravo's Christmas Bride in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Loved the latest installment in Christine Rimmer's Bravo saga. Carter Bravo, son of the "other Bravo family" doesn't like drama. He lived too much drama with his mother kicking his father out (dramatically) and then taking him back the same way--just too much for him. As an adult he prefers to live his life with as little drama as possible. He genuinely doesn't understand why every girl he has ever dated has left with such a dramatic show! His best friend and business partner Paige is not dramatic--she is awesome! She became mother and father to her younger sister when their parents died. She is never dramatic, she is steady and true. Just what Carter realizes that he needs.
When he "proposes" a trial/test run engagement he opens floodgates for himself and for Paige. Little did he know that he loved and needed some stability, and Paige realized that the drama was something that couldn't necessarily be avoided.
Throw in Carter's mother and some Christmas mayhem ensues!
Definitely loved Dawn. the little sister that helped things along. She was definitely a straight talker to both her sister and to Carter.
A great story, another winner for Christine Rimmer!
I just loved Carter Bravo's Christmas Bride by Christine Rimmer!!! Carter Bravo is a sexy, customer car creator and Paige Kettleman is his reliable pal and business partner. Carter has been looking for a wife in all the wrong places. Carter decides to approach marriage like he manages his business and decides Paige can manage their marriage like she manages his business with pure efficiency! Paige has resisted her attraction and feeling for Carter for years. She simply considers her him her friend and boss. Paige's life is turned upside down when she realizes her true feelings for Carter!!! You will love sexy Carter and sweet Paige! I was pulling for them immediately and longing for Carter to recognize his love for Paige! I cannot recommend Christine Rimmer enough and just love her latest Christmas romance. Carter Bravo's Christmas Bride by Christine Rimmer is a sweet, heart warming, sexy romance. You will love it as much as I do! I cannot recommend Christine Rimmer's romances enough! I can't wait for the next novel in Christine Rimmer's Bravo Family Romance series!!!
"Carter Bravo's Christmas Bride" by Christine Rimmer is part of the 'Bravos of Justice Creek' series. This book can be a read alone, as the author does an amazing job with describing the town and the townspeople, but I have the read the series and loved every book. It is absolutely worth reading. In this story we have Carter Bravo who decides that it is time for him to settle down and have a family. Who is the best person to settle down with? Why his business partner and best female friend Paige Kettleman. They have a wonderful sizzling chemistry but there is one problem....Carter does not believe in love. He even tells Paige that they should have a 'test-run engagement.' While Paige is falling in love Carter just can't seem to get things right. REALLY, REALLY LOVED this story.
Best friends, always. Lovers? Ummmm....maybe! Carter reads Paige a magazine quiz about compatibility and answers the quiz exactly like Paige would. WHAT?? Suddenly their best friend status might be something more!! Paige and Carter are oblivious to what everyone else knows. This book helps them find that they really care about each other, much more than as best friends.
Loved the premise and the story. There wasn't the typical 'break up'...then get back together. I appreciate when that happens. They worked out their problems and misunderstandings without a lot of drama, and their story continued to entertain. Paige and Carter were already a couple...they just didn't know it.
Have you ever thought about your bestie as someone you could marry? Could you marry someone for the sake of a family without Love? Well Carter and Paige are thinking about it, well Paige is thinking , Carter is all for it, but for the wrong reasons he is wanting marriage for the sake of marriage with benefits, but no love, he feels love is not in the cards for him, does Paige change his mind, do they marry? Well I can't say, you need to read they book and found out. Love it, It made me laugh, made me all mushy. Well job done.
Loved this Bravo series book. It had such a happy, joyful feeling to it. Carter Bravo decides he wants to marry and Paige, his partner and friend, would be perfect for the no-nonsense love relationship he thinks he wants. All the relatives and most of the town have always thought he loved her, but just waiting for him to realize it. The interaction between them is so much fun to read. I did receive this because I am on Christine's review crew. But would have purchased it anyway since I've been reading her books for years. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
Carter was best friend with Paige because they were both afraid to admit their feelings for each other but she knew that she had fallen in love with her best friend and then she let her fears of being hurt by her parents accident and her last breakup. but Love came in the form of Carter who fell in love for the first time in his life. which make her His Christmas Bride. I love the way he put the ring on a chain and then on the tree.
I loved this book!! The characters are so real that you almost feel as if you know them in person! Carter is so stubborn you want to reach in the book and slap some sense in him... Paige is a typical woman and I loved her to pieces! I wish evil moms would just go away but sometimes it take an evil mom to make the book! Carter's mom does just that... Without even trying!! I highly recommend this book to be added to your Christmas reading list! You won't regret it!!
"Rimmer’s latest romantic comedy has tears and laughter sharing center stage with schemes, lies and one big, happy, dysfunctional family. Her premise is wonderfully clever, but it’s her couple’s entertaining banter and her teen co-stars that steal the show" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).
This is probably my favorite Bravo book in the series (so far anyway) I love the friends to lovers storyline, and this one is great. There are very good reasons why they are reluctant to fall in love, and it was fun reading about them overcoming those reasons and realizing their deep love for each other. I am eagerly anticipating the next book in the series.
