FBI Special Agent Rogan Bricks is called in to investigate a brutal attack on a fishing boat in the frigid and dangerous Bering Sea. It's no ordinary fishing boat, as it turns out. It was smuggling a deadly cargo and now Bricks must keep the sole survivor of the attack – the only living witness – alive.

Soon he finds himself caught in the middle of a far-reaching conspiracy that may have been borne of his own past, a dark past that's about to catch up with him.

In a desperate game of cat and mouse, Bricks discovers there are powerful players involved... players that want Bricks not just dead, but completely destroyed.

This standalone novel follows the best-selling thriller The President Killed His Wife .

Another page turner from Steve Richer. In this one, a fishing boat with possible smuggling ties is attacked somewhere near Alaska, where super-fed Rogan Bricks is currently stationed. All but one of the crew is murdered, and the guy who escapes is able to attract Coast Guard rescuers. The case quickly morphs into something relating to national security.

Meanwhile, Rogan's girlfriend, Shiloh, is called for one last job, and when things go wrong for both her and Rogan, it's unclear exactly what's going on.

Great characters, solid storytelling and an action-filled plot make this a winner in my book.

One caveat: it might help to have read THE PRESIDENT KILLED HIS WIFE, because there are things at play here that go back to that book. But I think it would still be enjoyable even if you don't have that background.

Counterblow (a Rogan Bricks thriller #2)

Special Agent Bricks is enjoying his reunion with his wife Shiloh (formally Victoria in former life) when he gets tasked to investigate what seems to be a pirate/terrorist attack on a fishing boat off the coast of Alaska. What makes no sense, the attack boat was the same type used by Navy Seal teams, but the one surviving witness claimed the attackers were south African, one named "Bru." Before he realizes, Bricks is involved with the entire alphabet army, CIA, DIA, FBI, DOD, SPECOPS, and his entire chain of command. By the end, both Bricks and Shiloh are wanted fugitives , captured, tortured, and held prisoners in Mexico. Everything's not what it should be, and you'll find that out as you read to the end. Thanks for another great read.

Another suspenseful thriller!

So, yes, this was just as good 👍as the first book! The suspense, mystery, and the love between Rogan and Shiloh carry this through to the end. Not only are we reading about both Rogan and Shiloh's separate stories, but then they weave together for a kick-ass ending! I'm moving into book three!

Loved the book and didn’t want to put it down but way too many errors throughout the book. Guess they don’t use proofreaders anymore.

Another fine novel

Steve constantly throws twists and turns to keep your attention. Rogan and Shiloh make a wonderful couple to play off each other.

I just loved The President Killed his Wife and was so excited when this sequel came out. I must say Steve Richer does not disappoint. This is an incredible tale with a little of everything in it from spies and cartels to crab fishing and terrorism. It is action packed, if you like Jason Bourne you will love Rogan Bricks! Strongly recommended!

Convoluted and conniving.

A great follow up to the last book! Several plot lines wind in and around until they meet in the last few chapters. The characters established in the first book in the series are back and the plots are well written to throw curve balls at every turn! Great character development.
Please let there be more in the series!

Pretty bad

Plot is ok, writing is awful. Characters have so much potential for development but weren't. Glad this was a free ebook.

Edge of the Seat

Countertops was a very good action-thriller. It was filled with twists and turns leading to an unexpected ending. I'm looking forward to reading Book 3. Keep them coming, if they are as good as this particular novel.
