1400 pages of action packed covert operations, suspenseful espionage and elaborate political intrigue.
ALPHA: A Black Flagged Thriller (Book 1):
Daniel Petrovich, the most lethal operative created by the Department of Defense's Black Flag Program, protects a secret buried in the deepest vaults of the Pentagon.
Blackmailed into executing one final mission, Daniel's carefully constructed "life"rapidly disintegrates into a relentless federal manhunt--and a "24-style" race against the clock to suppress the shocking truth about his past.
To survive, he'll release the darkest side of his concealed identity. A dark side with few boundaries--and even fewer loyalties. Black Flagged lays the foundation for a gritty, high-octane series exploring the serpentine link between covert operations and government agency politics.
REDUX: A Black Flagged Thriller (Book 2):
Two years after shocking Washington D.C. with a brutal betrayal, General Terrence Sanderson prepares for his triumphant return. With his illegal covert operations group resurrected, he waits in the shadows for the right moment to demonstrate the grim necessity of the Black Flag program. His opportunity may arrive sooner than expected.
At Langley, Karl Berg is appointed to a new position with the CIA's National Clandestine Service. As senior liaison to the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Intelligence Center, he makes a disturbing discovery. Russian Federation intelligence services are secretly scouring Europe to find Anatoly Reznikov, a rogue Russian scientist at the top of every nation's WMD watch list. While the Russians pursue Reznikov, Berg goes "off the books" again and sends one of Sanderson's Black Flag teams to investigate.
Led by Daniel Petrovich, the team uncovers a twisted conspiracy aimed at striking a horrific blow against the West, with the frightening potential to bring the United States to its knees.
APEX: A Black Flagged Thriller (Book 3) A tense alliance between General Sanderson and the CIA narrowly averts an apocalyptic attack by Islamic fundamentalists in Europe, but ultimately fails to recover the virus canisters. With the biological weapons still missing, the specter of an attack against the United States looms dangerously closer.
Desperate to stop Al Qaeda, Daniel Petrovich's "black ops" team is sent to investigate the last lead provided by Anatoly Reznikov, the twisted scientist responsible for designing the virus. What they uncover will shake U.S. authorities to the core.
Every canister of the Zulu Virus has been shipped to the United States...
Back in Washington D.C., this startling revelation is intensified by a grim discovery. Suspected Al Qaeda cells under FBI surveillance have been simultaneously massacred, targets of a shadowy domestic terror organization with ties to a rising political movement.

Never ending drama. Kept me on the seat of my chair. Not ever having been around guns much I found the descriptions a little baffling and endless but realize people who have fought for our country and dreamers of holding such baffling power in their hands would greatly enjoy the knowledge.
I definitely want to read more of this series. Storyline was a thriller.
Having an organization such as this would seem extremely harsh to a lot of readers and we probably do have such persons available for our governments use. I find this particularly distasteful in a sense but see the extreme need in another sense. Some radicals don’t deserve the fairness and benevolence of a modern society so it is only right to bestow upon such evil minded men as a quick resolution that doesn’t allow them the benefit of justice.
I have read the short story Origins, Bk 1 - Alpha, Bk 2 Redux, Bk 3 Apex, Bk 4 Vektor, Bk 5 Omega and every single one of them was so excellent! Held my attention and kept me on the edge of my seat through most of them. I did get a little lost with all the arms descriptions but understand it is necessary since apparently most readers of this type book are men and I got the distinct impression that the type of arms made a huge difference in outcome when in the right hands. Regardless, I was dumfounded when volume 5 ended leaving so many untied ends. Only then did I discover there is going to be a Book 6 to be released this summer-whew, such a relief! That said, these books are exceedingly intense so while I wait for Book 6, I'll switch off to some mindless romance reading. Just have to look at the lighter side for a while!
Overall this set is 4 stars. This box set includes the first three books in the Black Flagged series (Alpha, Redux, and Apex). These books can each be read as a standalone. But each book builds on the previous storylines so I suggest you read them in order. This set makes it easy to do that without trying to find the next book. There is a lot of violence.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that all of that info here. There are clues in the storyline that keep you guessing what will be revealed next. It definitely kept me reading. Overall it is an interesting storyline and worth taking the time to read. I can’t wait to read more of this series!
Black flagged, the complete series was not the complete series! Finished with a number of unanswered questions. Very disappointing. If you sell a complete series boxset, it should be a complete series! Do I have to read another set of fivebooks, ten books, fifteen books to finish the story of is it never ending? I know the cubs fans waited 108 years for their reward. How long will Konkoly take?
While I really enjoyed books 1-5 in this series the disjointed end to book 5 and the disjointed end to the prequel was a a big letdown. How can you have a boxed set with no ending? Book 6 was due out last year but remains unfinished. Very dissapointing.
Konkoly lays out a story that is so real it’s hooks you from the beginning and sends you on a thrilling, action packed roller coaster ride you do t want to get off. Well written, filled with strong explosive characters that make u stay up the night to finish each one. Loved it
The 5 series continuous as 1 book is awesome. It’s Judy better being as 1 than 5 separate books. There is a lot that needs closure when the next book comes out. This is a really great well thought out book. It slows down when it should be picking up -last 1/4 of the book is just okay but well worth he read. *****/5
The author's books have more twists than a strand of copper wire and flow naturally toward an unexpected conclusion. Well written and leaves you hungry for more!
Stuck at the house because of snow, ice and single digits I spent two fabulous days reading Alpha, Redux and Apex. What a page turner. I was glued to my kindle tapping page after page. Not a dull moment. Enjoy.
The action is absorbing. The story lines are enticing. The characters are almost too real. The books move too quickly. Some twists are truly surprising. And remember these predate current events. I am buying the new one shortly. And hope it’s not the last.
Personally books 4 and half of 3 could be skipped. The action parts were all great as well as those with the main characters. But those were far and few. All 5 books are needed for the bioterrorist storyline. Only books 1 and 5 could be standalone.
I have read all 5 books: Alpha, Redux, Apex, Vektor, Omega. Absolute action, suspense, turmoil!! Loved all 5 books!! I cannot wait to read #6 Covenant!!
This was a very excellent 5 book series. Can't wait for no. 6. Steve did an excellent job with all the different plots. Really enjoyed 5 star plus Carl Clause
It's been awhile since I've read a covert ops and espionage series and I have to say this is an excellent pick for jumping back into those murky and dangerous waters. I was captured from the very first, finding intense action interspersed with technical jargon, all of which was punctuated by brief moments of levity. It's so captivating I've purchased the next two books. There are numerous headlines that I could choose for this set, but none would do it justice. Some of my thoughts are: Personal Agendas and Long Memories, Mr and Mrs Smith Freelance Team, Paint It Black, The Last Line of Defense, Quickness and Zero Hesitation and A Menacing Darkness. This series is astoundingly scary. It gives "don't drink the water" a whole new meaning. Don't plan on sleeping anytime soon.
I loved the first two books in the series. However, the third one, Apex, just bogged me down in too many characters, too many groups, and I found it impossible to keep people straight. The author added another whole cast of characters to his original players. I gave up about one third of the way through. I would really recommend the first two books, but the last was a downer for me.
i started reading these books over a month ago. That is a very long time for me to read only three books. The first two went fairly quickly as they were establishing characters and their roles. The last book took me the longest asI kept going back to re-read sections fearing I might have missed a detail. Like the series, great writing for this genre
Konkoly hasn't disappointed me yet, from his Jakarta Pandemic through the Black Flag series. I would do Konkoly a great disservice if I were to try to compare him to other authors in the terror/thriller genre, because he's in a field of his own! Others should be held to him in comparisons of their work.
