Meg’s Christmas List 1. Balloonicorns 2. Pringles 3. Double sled
’Tis the season-for a new career?
It’s a few days before Christmas, and Lacey Luzzi & gang are at a dead end in their search for Jackson Cole. So when Lacey receives a job offer from none other than the rich, the glamorous, the Hollywood-bound Miss Harriet Lizabeth Morgan the Third, she says yes.
This holiday season, Lacey, Clay, Meg, and Anthony head out to the land of palm trees and fake snow, tasked with providing top notch security for an upcoming, high-profile movie premier. But when her client receives threatening messages, a difficult job only gets tougher.
Lacey turns to her friends for help, but Clay is occupied with his clandestine computer program, Anthony is tied up at home with a mysterious “project,” and Meg is…well, she’s Meg. Add a stunt driver with a pile of secrets as long as Meg’s Christmas list and new information surfacing around Jackson Cole, and Lacey’s plate is not full – it’s overflowing!
Lacey hasn’t asked for much this Christmas. But she does make one little wish: to get out of this assignment alive.
** ** Lacey Luzzi: Seasoned is a full-length, humorous cozy mystery with a strong female protagonist in the spirit of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum, albeit one working for the wrong side of the law…
Note: This book can be read as a standalone, though it is part of a larger series and not all plot lines are resolved in a single book. It is rated a strong PG-13 for sarcasm and mild language. No graphic gore or sex.
Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, Gina LaManna has also called Italy and Los Angeles home. After studying numbers and equations in college, she realized multiple choice tests were “just not for her” and began writing books instead. She loves cappuccino foam and whipped cream and would subsist solely on sprinkles if possible. She currently lives in St. Paul with her wonderful husband and family.
Lacey is hired by a woman she met in the last book to go to California for a few days to run security for the woman's dog who is slated to attend the premiere of the latest Bond movie since it was in the film. This is just a few days before Christmas, so it's quite a change from three people from Minnesota to find themselves in Hollywood during December. Naturally, things don't go smoothly and since this is a funny book, there is a fair bit of mayhem. At first there are a few extremely obvious things, but there are surprises and twists you don't see coming even if you have read the previous books. Silly, but rather fun.
I think Christmas is everyone's favourite time of the year, but it holds fond memories for Lacey and Meg. They have been celebrating it together since they were kids, and nothing is going to stop them again this year - but some will try.
Four days before Christmas, Lacey, Meg, Clay and Harold the Butler head to LA to be the security detail for a famous dog - Poopsie - owed by Lizabeth Morgan the Third. Anthony will join them in two days, after finishing a project in MN, then they will all fly home for Christmas Day, back at the Luzzi Mansion. The first job for Lacey Luzzi Services is not all that it seems. Who are they really protecting? Who is the one chasing the gang across LA? And more discoveries are made with finding the elusive Jackson Cole.
There are parts of this book that will make you laugh and also draw on your heartstrings - moments with BFFs, Lacey and Anthony making a ginger bread house, bromances too! We meet a new character called Mack that I hope will come back to visit the team soon. And of course we have the crew coming together to solve the mystery of who is threatening Poopsie.
I love these characters together. They are a bit geeky, cheeky and savy and sassy. They just click as a group. But I just love reading more and more of Lacey and Anthony's relationship - how only Lacey can make Anthony nervous and blush.
If you are looking for a good action mystery with a touch of romance - here is the series for you and book 7 will not disappoint.
It's almost Christmas and Lacey has a new job! A quick trip to California to provide security for a new friend has her, Meg, & Clay on a private jet to Hollywood. Leaving Anthony, who is staying home to work on a special "project", shakes a little of Lacey's confidence but Meg has her back and Clay has the information. Add in Mack, their guide, driver, and who is a southern cowboy type version of Anthony has Lacey a little tempted. Getting ready for a red carpet security experience with kidnapping threats, Clay's new computer project, and Meg's incessant flirting has the team scrambling. Are they going to be able to protect their client and stay out of harm's way? Wishing for a Christmas miracle along with trying to find her father and missing Anthony has Lacey at her wit's end. A few surprises in store and this might be Lacey's best or worst Christmas yet.
(4.5 stars) There was a bit of the storyline that I got bored reading but the end surely made up for it. Still, I didn't like Anthony and Lacey being separated.
Spooked was a great holiday themed installment in the Lacey Luzzi series, but Seasoned is the-bomb-dot-com and beats it by far. In fact it, it's my favorite out of all them so far. You'll definitely be getting plenty of surprise gifts in this one!
Tis The Season
Christmas is right around the corner, and while it's tinged with sadness and longing for Christmas' past with her mother, it still fills Lacey with joy and content. She doesn't care for presents, but the family time and traditions leave her all fuzzy inside.
To Be Jolly
And it's going to be a good year. Lacey Luzzi Services has acquired it's first job giving security for Miss Lizabeth and Poopsie at a Hollywood premier. Lacey is going to make sure that Christmas comes and goes with Meg still believing in Santa Claus. She's going to spend it with Anthony at her side. It's going to be a good year.
Fa La Lala
Even though Anthony can't go with Lacey and company to California right away. A bomb also explodes a toilet, Lacey gets kidnapped and caught dirty talking with Anthony over an intercom system. And Anthony gets shot.
Lala La La
Because even though it's probably due more to a Christmas miracle than skill, everything turns out better than alright.
Love the layers that LaManna sets up in this installment. I found the addition of Mack to be nice, wouldn't mind seeing more of him. As per usual the plot is fast paced and fun and though there are a few holes here and there--the quirky characters mostly make up for it. Looking forward to reading more.
Love this series! I know I probably say this with each review, but this book is even better than the last one. This one was filled with a lot more emotions. I laughed. I cried. I love how the characters evolve more and more as the series moves along. I also love how things are coming together in Miss Lacey (the protagonists) life. It still has all those zany incidents and characters we all grew to love and adore, just so much more.
This book (series) contains lots of laughs, spunky characters, a mystery or two, and even that scene that you may need to grab a Kleenex. It moves along quickly and didn't take that long to read. (Which I always appreciate since my TBR list is a mile long or longer.)
I especially liked the way the book ended (well, except for the little cliffhanger.) :D Although I will say, that at least with Gina's books (so far anyways) her cliffhangers are more of a tease into what to expect in the next book rather than leaving us hanging for an ending to the current book.
Ok guys this is a review for the entire series 😅. 🎧 I did the audios (which was such a mess and highly disappointing) so I’m gonna break down this whole series without any major plot spoilers but this will have relationship spoilers and the series character progression spoilers. I wanted a good long audio series. It was my main reason for picking this up!
Overall this was.. Romcom Suspend disbelief Silly antics Mafia family- but also not really done well Over the top antics Light and mostly fun listening Cozy mystery Crazy reacurring side characters
‼️Book 1-3…. 🎧audio was good w a narrator who did voices and personalities.
The first 3 books was hard for the romance. I didn’t like that she was dating OP and that Anthony was wishy washy. I also would have liked confirmation that he wasn’t dating and hooking up w OW.
I didn’t enjoy the weird way the author tried to write a love and romance. She dragged it out way too much and not in a fun way.
😡Why is she still hooking up w her looser ex! And why is the H waiting so long and sending mixed signals for 4books??!!!
😡Also making the h pathetic isn’t attractive. She was legit in the next room while her ex he was hooking up w OW and she has seen him w a revolving door in his bed. Why is she still hooking up w him in book 3 when Anthony has told her multiple times he wants her and they have had more then one make out sess? It makes her come off as so gross and cheap w no self respect. Way to much push and pull with Anthony the H. Makes him seem like a douche.
‼️ Book 4- 🎧Audio is the same and still good! By the end we are finally getting somewhere with the romance! And FINALLY Lacy seems to be growing a bit.
‼️Book 5- 🎧HORRID! We went to VIRTUAL VOICE🫨 after having a great narrator w personality. Also the story is FINALLY getting better and better and the romance was stating to get super sweet. So I was bummed about the audio big time!
‼️Book 6- NO AUDIO AVAILABLE!!! WTF I did Alexa reading to me. What a freaking mess! Also since the romance and story anew literally getting better w each book this is ruining my experience.
‼️Book 7-10- 🎧ALL VIRTUAL VOICE! 🫨 I guess it was better than Alexa reading it to me but WTF I mean this author really needs to get consistent with her audios. The story was great though these were my fav of the series. We had character growth. Super sweet romance that I loved. And we got some fun storylines and mysteries. TO ME THESE BOOKS WERE THE BEST IN THE SERIES AND WHERE RHE SERIES PEAKED. Such a shame about the audios! 😭😭😭
‼️Books 11- 12- 🎧BACK TO NARRATION! So great audios But man the characters and the storylines took a plummet for me. Lacy was annoying me and so was Meg. Anthony turned into her useless husband. I mean he was head security for the mafia and couldn’t keep her safe! And Lacy was pregnant and putting herself in danger. I was annoyed. It’s not cute when you have real adult stuff happening to be acting like an immature child.
‼️Book 13- 🎧Back to ZERO AUDIO! Fucking hell!!!!!! I mean really!? And I’m over it and ready for this series to end.
‼️Overall my experience of this series was def positive and I did enjoy the majority of the mysteries and stories. I love the romance after book 4. But to much stuff dragged to long w the characters and their growth and development. The audios were a freaking mess! And had I known I wouldn’t have spent money buying the first 4! By the time the series ended I felt sad to see it go but also ready. I did enjoy watching to romance bloom and grow and then get married and have kids but like I said other factors also made my experience less enjoyable to.
Overall safe. Book 1-4 not really cause she is hooking up w her ex douche bag BF No clue is Anthony is hooking up w OW. After book 3 No OP at all.
🍭🎂ALSO SIDE NOTE BUT NO GROWN WOMAN CAN EAT ALL THAT SUGAR! IT WAS OK AT FIRST BUT ANGUGE TURN OFF WHEN SHE BECAME PREGNANT! Not cute just gross.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This story picks up right where the last one left off. The man who may possibly be Lacey’s dad has disappeared and the crew have discovered hi. To be an FBI agent? Lacey got her first gig on her own separate from carlos’ jobs/assignments for her. Just let me say you have got to read this, the twists and turns caught me so off guard you will love this one I promise! R should I say twists so good and completely unexpected!
Seasoned is so much fun. One of my favorites in the series so far. The main plot has Lacey and her “team” taking on a security job in California. I really enjoyed the way that plot played out, and was interwoven with several sub-plots. I won’t spoil any “Christmas surprises”, but there is momentum that is moving the storylines right along.
So grab a hot cocoa, but your feet up, and spend Christmas with Lacey and family.
If you're looking for a series with quirky characters, a bit of romance, laugh out loud moments, and a lot of action then you may enjoy this series. It isn't often I'm surprised by an ending or mystery, but this one kept me guessing right up to the end. Love this series!
Some people are givers, and some people are takers. Some people give to get, some people go e to bless Anthony gave a gift to Lacey to bless. O!eh gave a gift to get Lacey away from everyone and hold her hostage some plans ate born to die. This one was doomed. A!so dressing a cat up in costume is just ask tone scratched.
I have not enjoyed a series of this type since Stephanie Plum. Ms. LaManna knows how to make her readers laugh, cry and fall in love with all the quirky characters.
Escaping the snow at Christmas Time sounds like the perfect time but a mystery and a kidnapping prove to be just a little more than Lacey planned. Enjoy her escapades as surprises protection for a little dog just how hard can that be? Join the fun.
I started with the set 1-6: It had a lot of laughs and was refreshing and a better read than Janet Evanovich, her work became a bit worn as the series has gone on. I am really enjoying the Lacey Lizzie series! Enjoy!
I am a huge fan of Stephsnie Plum and this is very similar but with enough differences to make it uniquely NOT Plum. The characters are great, the love, suspense and light mystery plus a crazy family all add up to a can't stop reading til the end..kind of read!
Gina LaManna does it again with an incredibly funny masterpiece! This novel is full of laughs, cries and all the feels in between. I can’t wait to read the next one!
Another great book! Lacey takes us to Hollywood for a short security experience. Lots of adventure, a bomb, a gun shot wound, and a surprise meeting. Merry Christmas from the Luzzi Family :)
I'll repeat what I wrote in the last one: love the protagonist and her love interest, but the BFF is a brat. She really distracts and takes away from the series.
Picking up a couple months after the jaw dropping ending of Spooked Lacey and Co. Are no closer to figuring out who Jackson Cole is and why he is interested in Anthony . . . But they do know one thing! This holiday season is going to be pretty intense for all involved!
After a Christmas list making meeting initiated by Meg, Lacey receives a phone call from Lizabeth asking if Lacey and the gang would consider outsourcing her services to protect a important individual during a Hollywood premiere (who it is is a hilarious moment!) After hearing the compensation involved for 2 days work Lacey ropes Meg and Clay into taking the trip with her. She is pretty bummed to find out Anthony cannot join them until the day of the event and it leads to some warm fuzzy moments before she leaves (adorbs let me tell you!) Once they get to the chartered jet they realize who the jet was sent for initially! Harold! Haha I loved that plot twist, Harold has been a constant character from the beginning of the series that I wanted to know more about so I was tickled to see him outside the compound.
Once the Hollywood adventure starts we meet another character (one that you may have seen before if you have read Gina's other series that starts with One Little Wish) Mack Montgomery is more than just a stunt driver and Lizabeth wants him to fill in for Anthony in a professional sense if Lacey gets in to one of her trademark situations. . . It gives us a nice introduction to his character (if you haven't picked up OLW then definitely bump it up toward the top of your TBR list because its amazing!) Meg is quite taken with Mack and there are hilarious hijinks involved with her preening around trying to catch his attention.
Trying to get settled in before her big day on the job isn't easy for Lacey, overheard conversations thanks to a stuck Intercom button could have been totally cringe worthy but that embarrassing moment lead to a good heart to heart moment with Clay. Lacey finally got him to spill what's going on after he got over being potentially embarrassed. She reassured him that after what she went through of everybody in the house hearing her and Anthony's racy chat nothing could top that. It gave him the courage to own up to his own situation. Pretty cute (quirky) family bonding moment for those two.
There are a lot of warm fuzzy moments in this story and I love the whole Christmas lead up. The scene where Lacey and Anthony are making the gingerbread house is among my absolute favorites in this series. The family feel is seen and felt throughout the book and it increases the heart warming factor. Toward the end of the story we see who is actually after Poopsie and surprise surprise the dog is not the actual target! and Lacey stumbles into another situation that she must use her unorthodox crime solving methods to escape haha. There are also some secrets revealed, Clay is finally going on a date, gunfire and yes, dodging Nora's cooking! You know, its just a typical holiday with the Luzzi's! I think this book has got to be my favorite of the series!
Christmas is near and Lacey and Anthony are going strong after 6 months of dating. I love their relationship! I strongly recommend reading the series from book 1 because I am not sure they can be read as standalone and be completely understood.
In the last book (Spooked) Lacey helped one of Carlos' clients and that same client wants to hire Lacey and her gang to help her protect her dog during a premier. There have been threats and she is sure Lacey can help her. The gang hops on a private plane to LA and Lacey is upset to leave behind her sexy boyfriend Anthony. We meet a new character, Mack, and this hot sexy stunt driver helps our friends to get away after being followed from the airport. Lacey also has to deal with a kidnapping attempt, broken intercoms, missing her boyfriend dearly and dealing with being quite unsure about her abilities to bring the task to a good end. In the meantime Clay is still searching for Lacey's father and has a little project of his own.
I am amazed at how beautifully the story is unfolding. The cases in general are just a way to move the story forward about Lacey, her parents, her childhood and the secrets involved. And every book there are more reveals about Anthony but also about the other characters. You love them more and more. They become more real with every Lacey adventure and Lacey is growing and maturing and finding her way.
Really happy to read there will be a story for Mack shortly, as I was very intrigued by his character. And I look forward to the next Lacey-adventure as this book also ended on a little cliffhanger (nothing major).
I want to thank Gina LaManna for graciously giving me an ARC for my honest opinion.
