The Henderson Sisters #2

The Sheikh's Convenient Mistress

Rate this book
The business which brings Sheikh Zamir Fayez to the deserts of Las Vegas is far from pleasant, and it's vital that it be kept secret. After all, the last thing he needs is news of his brother's drug addiction hitting the tabloids. Enter Olivia Henderson, a celebrity concierge who specialises in meeting the requirements of her clients no matter how difficult they might be.

Only nothing in Olivia's experience has prepared her for a man like Zamir. He's domineering, arrogant and sexy, and he makes no effort to hide the fact that he wants Olivia in more ways than the professional.

Nothing in their relationship is certain, but for one thing: that it must end. For Zamir will be King, and the hopes of a nation rest upon his shoulders. Olivia is a perfect distraction in his moment of need but she's hardly wife material. So why does he find it so hard to leave her, even when his duty calls him? And will he ever forgive her for how quickly she moves on?

For all things Clare Connelly, please see www.clareconnelly.co.uk, the official home of Clare Connelly on the web.

Clare Connelly grew up in a small country town in Australia. Surrounded by rainforests, and rickety old timber houses, magic was thick in the air, and stories and storytelling were a huge part of her childhood.

From early on in life, Clare realised her favourite books were romance stories, and read voraciously. Anything from Jane Austen to Georgette Heyer, to Mills & Boon and (more recently) 50 Shades, Clare is a romance devotee. She first turned her hand to penning a novel at fifteen (if memory serves, it was something about a glamorous fashion model who fell foul of a high-end designer. Sparks flew, clothes flew faster, and love was born.)

Clare has a small family and a bungalow near the sea. When she isn't chasing after energetic little toddlers, or wiping fingerprints off furniture, she's writing, thinking about writing, or wishing she were writing.

Very reminiscent of a Harlequin with a sexy Sheikh who behaves exactly as he ought. And a sweet, smart virgin h who falls for him.
He starts out being cold and using women purely for sex. This H redeems himself and grovels very nicely.

The hero is an arabian prince and he has an affair with the heroine, of course he can't marry her because he is an arabian prince and has to marry well, so eventually he leaves her. She is shattered and decides to visit his brother who is in Vegas in rehab. When the hero finds out he is furious because he thinks she is after his brother, but she was only trying to help him and to keep an emotional connection. I didn't like this hero at all. He left the heroine without a back glance and he would never have come back to her if he didn't know about his brother. I didn't find this a romantic story, I like when love is stronger that duty, not the other way around. The heroine should have been a strong and independent woman, she was not, she was desperate for the hero and coulndn't go back to her usual life. Not the best of characters.

Olivia & Zamir.

Totally understand why this one is rated as mid. The MMC doesn't do a single thing right.

His first strike was arguably the biggest: proceeding to proposition his employee after she told him such advances were unwelcome. Great. Strike 1, MMC is a guy who thinks it's okay to sexual harass his employees. (And the fact that he justifies it by assuming that it's happened to her before by other clients...is even more ick, when you think about it.)

Then he calls himself a "man of honour" by putting the ball in her court and waiting for her to come to him. Strike 2: that doesn't last more than a couple pages

Strike 3: his terrible reaction to discovering she was a virgin

Strike 4: not using a condom, because he assumed she was promiscuous and would be on birth control (and said this to her out-loud right after having sex, while accusing her of trying to baby trap him...Strike 5).

And it just keeps going...my initial impression was "3 strikes and your out, buddy"....But really, he had enough strikes to fill all nine innings. A true no-hitter.

And he was supposed to be the "better" brother...but what's the reference point? His brother is in rehab for drug addiction and OD-ing. Okay. Checks out. Better than the guy who's hit rock bottom.

He even fumbled things once he decided to get her back. If anyone earned himself some massive angst about the possibility of having permanently f-ed up his chances with a woman, and if anyone deserved to be put through a massive groveling campaign, it was this guy.

But this is HP, and these stories are short, so of course, all he had to do was say the "L" word and get his dad's OK, and she's like, "OK, good enough for me." But the MMC even did one better and told her that he *wasn't* going to apologize, because "blah, blah, blah". (Yep, no hitter.)

Which brings me to the FMC. She talked a big game, but every action undermined her words. Best at her job? She immediately talks back to him, etc. Doesn't want to be propositioned? Accepts his advances. She calls him out repeatedly...and then takes him back. He really has no incentive to do any better than he has. Spine? This lady was like a jellyfish.

Sadly, I get the impression that the three sisters each get treated like dirt by their grooms-to-be. How romantic.

Zamir went to Vegas to look after his older brother in rehab facility. Olivia was his personal concierge making sure his presence was kept private from public. He noticed her luscious form and seduced her. She gave him her virginity and he was afraid they can’t have more than sex. She quitted her job when she thought he asked her to prepare a dinner date for other woman. He came to her place and brought her to his apartment and had sex again. The morning after he was told his father had a heart attack. He left her even when she said she loves her and willing to follow him. She then spend time everyday visiting Ra’If. Two months later, Ra’If was getting better and Zamir went back to Vegas with jealousy. He thought she moved on with his brother. He kidnapped her to Dashan while she was sleeping. Two days being left alone, she was summoned to meet the Sultan. The Sultan likes her because her spirit was just like his dead wife. Zamir begged her to stay and said his undying love and his willingness to forsake the throne for her. After his father gave his permission to marry her, he proposed and she accepted joyously.

A very good book

This is the 2nd book in the series. It was very well written with great characters and plot. The h was very beautiful, sweet and kind. She was very beautiful with a voluptuous figure which made a lot of men think she was easy but she was still a virgin. The H was the crown prince of his country, he was arrogant at times but was a good guy. His brother was in a rehab facility and he went there to help his brother. He met the h and developed a relationship with her but he broke her heart when he had to go back to his country. They were able to find their way back to each other.

This book was really really good, five stars for sure. I rarely give books five stars unless they meet a few requirements, good story, romantic, and the heroine has to have strength and character. Olivia was awesome and was not about to take crap even from a king. She had great qualities, kind, strong and beautiful. How could a king fail to fall in love with her? Of the three Henderson sisters she was my favorite character. This story had everything and I read it in six hours, I recommend it highly.

I loved Olivia confidence. She loved hard, but did not settle for partial on anything. She demand all or nothing in a relationship. Loving a person doesn't mean you have to settle for what they give if they are not giving their all in the relationship. She trusted her feelings.

Stay with me.

When a young boy is traumatized, he usually has long lasting trust issues. Olivia offers Zamir love and a life line.
