This is a short story and a Black Mesa Wolves story.

This is a short story about Caleb and Ree. This is for adults only due to the steamy content.

Caleb reminds me of someone who always think everyone is out to get him at times. Ree is his calm and sometimes his brain. This story is about turning over a new leaf as the New Year often represents. It is a great addition to the series, and I can’t wait to see what happens next with the Black Mesa Wolves and for Caleb and Ree.

I recommend this story and this set to all the shifters fans out there. While I haven’t read them all YET, I will :)

With the New Year approaching, I find myself in a shifter mood and this book for New Year's Eve was the perfect way to satisfy that need.

Caleb has made many mistakes, the biggest of which had him removed from being a Guardian of the Black Mesa Wolves. That ruling came down from the Alpha, his father. Now it seems Caleb has found something that helped to not only rein in his temper and impulsiveness, but also gives back. He is competing and training young wolves to fight in the somewhat controlled atmosphere of sanctioned Cage Fighting.

His mate Rielle, is steadfast in her devotion to her mate. She's been beside him the whole way and is more than just a little proud of him.

As Caleb and his trainee Bran celebrate their wins that have them heading to regional championships, Luke Rawlins a reformed rogue wolf approaches Raille.

Luke's reasoning is much more than just to find out Caleb's reaction.

Plenty of surprises and lots of sizzle between Caleb and Rielle.

I have to go back now and re-read this series, I'd forgotten how much I like this pack.

I loved this book when I read it as part of the Black Mesa Wolves Box Set. Black Mesa Wolves Box Set by J. K. Harper is a set of nine different books of the series all put together into the perfect reading order in one group. The nine books included in this set are: Guardian Wolf, Alpha Wolf, Hunting Wolf, Wild Wolf, Solstice Wolf, Christmas Wolf, New Year Wolf, Protector Wolf, and Fire Wolf. Every one of the books in this set was a wonderful read. Each individual book features a different couple who were forever mate and all of the stories are tied together as members of the Black Mesa Wolf Pack. I think anyone who loves reading about shifters or paranormal romance will love this box set where everyone eventually gets their happy ever after ending.

I mentioned enjoying this Authors work because she didn’t make the female characters give up their dreams jobs or beliefs .... and yet in the last three shorts she’s done that with characters that she’d originally hadn’t. I loath that Claire suddenly “came to her senses” that Lia’s wonderful job was a scam, that Ree had to give up her beloved shop not once but twice... obviously none of those women were as important as the males.

A lovely revisit to Caleb and Rielle. Caleb has put himself together and grown some since his big mistake. Having his mate with him is a part of that but the rest is him maturing.
He now works and trains young pack members to fight and is running a fight school.
If you are a fan of Black Mesa Wolves, this is a must read. I am not going to give the story away but I loved the ending.

He was justifiably stripped of his Pack Guardian status, but it about knocked him out cold. Throwing his energy into a successful new business, training other shifters to circuit fight, Caleb found a new path in life. Then his arch nemesis unexpectedly threatens to take the shine off their bright new year. Caleb's answering jab will determine the course of the rest of his life, if only he can overcome a burning anger at his old enemy. A short finish/ start to Caleb and Rielle's new chance.

He was the luckiest wolf on the planet. No question. Her mate was one heck of a wolf, and she was darned lucky to have him. WOOOOF! What a HOWLING GRRRREAT story! I was beyond thrilled when I started reading this & discovered it starred Caleb & Rielle!! They are definitely a couple that I cannot get enough of and I think that out of all of the wolves I have met & loved already, none are more deserving of getting the 'New Year - New You' kind of story. And what a helluva story it is, but that ending? WOW!! I can't wait to see where the series goes from here!! Speaking of which, I ABSO-FURRY-LUTELY LOVE this series! I also love how J.K. gives the Wolf its own personality, or WOLFALITY as the case may be! The communication between wolf & human is hilarious!! Because they don't think, feel or behave in the same ways, and are always lurking in the background, so to speak, the comments that each side think/say make the story that much more enriched & entertaining! For example - While in wolf form, on a romp through the snow - "Damn it, Caleb's human muttered again. Got something in my eye. Caleb huffed to himself at that. Wolves never cried. Humans were odd." That is actually one of my favorite parts of shifter stories but no one does it as PAWFECTLY as J.K.!! She is one exceptionally talented author who creates these PAWMAZING worlds for me to live & play in both with and AS her characters, which in turn takes a 'simple' reading experience to a whole new, incomparable & WOLFTACULAR level!!!

SO THIS is part of the kindle unlimited and so here is my review . so what do you do when you must decide to leave ones pack to be part of another and why is it to see if he can get his place back with his father or will he decide to go to another pack with his mate and help a new alpha who also at one time was his enemy can these two truly work together or will it fail find out by reading and reviewing and see what may happen this new years day ,.

New Year Wolf by J.K. Harper is a short read, perfect for paranormal lovers with limited time for reading. This is a well written book with great characters. Rielle and Caleb's story is fast paced with drama and sizzle to keep readers flipping pages. I enjoyed this short story and would happily read more from J.K. Harper. New Year Wolf is book 4.75 of the Black Mesa Wolves Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I got this in the Shifters in the Snow box set. I thought this seemed familiar but couldn't place it, and come to find out it's book 4.75 and I have read books 1 & 2. I need to go back and read the ones in between. This was a quick read and I'd like to know more.

Short story but worth the time. Like all books in the series you have funny moments,intense times and overly possessive males wanting to chew someones head off.
