If there's one thing that Brynn Adler hates, it's feeling helpless and vulnerable in unfamiliar territory. Three weeks ago, life tossed her into just such a world. A world of werewolves she never knew existed--until she found out her sister was one of them.
The pack seems determined to hurry her back to the normal world of humans. But after everything she's witnessed, she's not sure she wants to go--especially if it means leaving not only her sister behind, but the one man who makes her forget her life is falling apart.
Now all she has to do is convince him to agree to a plan to force the pack to let her stay.
Joe Mitchell has been battling his protective instincts since he rescued Brynn from her kidnapper. Getting involved with her is a bad idea for a lot of reasons. She's on shaky emotional ground, and a supernatural war is no place for a human woman. He's not about to let her make a hasty decision, one that will only bring her pain and regret.

By day, Bree and Donna are mild-mannered ladies who reside in the Deep South. At night, when their husbands and children are asleep, they combine forces to unleash the product of their fevered imaginations upon the page.
Favorite Quote: “I’m not as wholesome as my sister.” ”Thank God for that,” he told her, his voice low and solemn. “I like my women a little kinky.”
The second book in this series picks up right where book one, Cry Sanctuary left off. Brynn was kidnapped by an evil alpha, Alan Matthews as a repercussion for her sister Abby escaping after he turned her into a wolf. Abby, her mate Keith and another alpha Joe rescue Brynn in book one. Now Brynn, still a human, is living at Red Rock Sanctuary with her sister. She is scared, mentally trying to recover from the terror Alan put her through. Alan is upset, to say the least, that Brynn escaped with her life, and for the past three weeks, his wolves have snuck into the sanctuary and tried to attack. So far, they have been held back, but Brynn doesn’t feel safe. What she wants is to become a wolf. She feels that way she would be harder to kill and everyone wouldn’t have to worry so much about her.
Joe and his wolf are feeling very protective over Brynn. He is not against her becoming a wolf, as long as she realizes it is forever. He has reservations becoming her Guide, the person that is set to help a new wolf transition, because last time he was physically involved with his trainee, she left him abruptly and he took it hard.
With another attack on the horizon from Alan, Brynn must decide her future – does it include becoming a wolf, and does it include one sexy wolf as her mate?
I really enjoyed the fact that Sanctuary Lost continues with the war against Alan Matthews even though there is a new couple we focus on. I think Moira Rogers does a great job so far with this series and with the other series I read by them, Southern Arcana, to present a great romance, and also continue with the world building and events from previous books. They combine the two so seamlessly.
The ongoing theme in Brynn’s life is to survive. She survived being kidnapped by Alan, she survives the first few weeks at Red Rock and then she must decide if she can survive as a wolf. She hates being weak and a target. She has feelings for Joe, and after she feels a bit more comfortable at the Sanctuary, she is not afraid to let him know exactly how she feels. I liked her attitude and the way she handles him. She wants him and eventually has the courage to tell him her feelings. This leads to some very hot sex scenes between these two.
Joe on the other hand is trying to reign his wolf in and not totally smother her with his alpha side. He is deadly and lethal and all the yummy things that come with a strong alpha male. Keith and Abby, from book one have lots of page time and I have to say I am still a Keith fan girl. He is so over the top Alpha that he makes me want to submit while I sit reading in my chair. Abby was a bit over the top in her protective mode of her sister, and I was ready by the end for Abby to make peace. Brynn handles her well though as only a sister can.
Sanctuary Lost is a great addition to the Red Rock series. Moira Rogers has created an action packed world where romance definitely doesn’t take a back seat.
Another very good story in the Red Rock Pass series by Moira Rogers ! “Sanctuary Lost” is a very interesting read about werewolves. With a lot of romance and adventure, it will be a nice and safe choice for all the fans of paranormal romance. I have to say that this book is more dark than the previous, because it has more tough choices and many uncomfortable scenes for the main characters.
The story is about Brynn and Joe. Brynn’s sister is Abby the main character from the previous story in this series. She was the victim of a corrupt Alpha and now she’s trying to get her life back. But it’s hard and she knows that if she wants to live a life without hiding all the time she has to become a werewolf herself. Joe is a Guide who helps new werewolves to adjust in their new life. But he never gets involved with them because he has bad experience from his past. But Joe, wants Brynn from the beginning and when Brynn becomes once again a victim of a werewolf, he knows that he has to help her in this journey. But the truth is that they have to help each other.
Brynn is a nice young woman who becomes a submissive werewolf. She has to adjust in this life and accept her new nature. Of course, it’s not an easy thing to do but she’s smart and capable and although she is a submissive, she’s not without power. I really liked her and it was nice to see a submissive werewolf for once! It was great the way the author described her first emotions as a werewolf.
I really like Joe also! He is strong and protective and the typical dominant werewolf. He isn’t the Alpha of the pack but he is definitely an Alpha in his relationship and it’s hard at first for Brynn. I liked him because he is not a liar. He doesn’t say things unless he is certain about his feelings.
A very good story, definitely an improvement from the previous, with great characters and lot of adventure. I recommend it to all the fans of paranormal romance!
This was pretty good. I have a problem with Brynn saying multiples times that she wants to get kinky and then they don't get kinky. The sex scenes were pretty vanilla. But I like the series and the world set-up. I'll read more of the series.
The Moira Rogers team is fantastic! I find myself continually drawn into their worlds and caring about their characters to such an extent that I actually cry and feel for them. And the romance is steamy hot! If you love sexy, engaging stories with strong heros and equally strong heroines plus a HEA, I highly recommend any of their books! (Though I am partial to the Bloodhounds series... C'mon, yall - give me some more books, please!)
Okay. So, I was not totally enamored with the first book in the Red Rock Pass series due to the underdeveloped plot and too much filler sex. Unfortunately, book two is the same but what makes it worse are the wimpy, needy and clingy women. I like strong female characters and this book definitely doesn't have any. It's official. I'm done! I won't be moving on with this series.
The follow up story to Cry Sanctuary and a little bit like the first, there needed to be a bit more depth to the characters and a bit more fleshing out. How do the witches fit into this, are wolves in hiding from humans? How do the European wolves fit in?
That pesky Alan Matthews survived though and of course is up to no good. Will still be reading the next book in the series.
Wow is all I can say. This book was painful on so many levels that it’s hard to describe. Brynn is a very strong young woman and I just love Joe. My heart is with Abby and Keith…it’s just painful.
I’ve been in a shifter mood lately and what better way to feed that mood than to read a Red Rock Pass book by Moira Rogers. I’ve been anticipating this book since I read and reviewed the first book in the series, Cry Sanctuary, last year. Not only do we get a new romance in this book, but we also get to catch up with all those previous characters. And instead of slaking my hunger for shifters, SL only made me want more.
Joe Mitchell is a Guide, one who helps newly turned wolves through their journey, in the Red Rock Pass pack, and when Brynn Adler begins talking about wanting to be turned, because of a past experience gone bad as a Guide and his growing feelings for Brynn, he’s not sure he’s the man for the job. He tries to get her to slow down on this idea, but it’s Brynn’s fear of not being able to defend herself against the attack they all know is coming.
Alan Matthews is the wolf who turned her sister, Abby, kidnapped Brynn to get to Abby but was ultimately defeated, and they’ve all been relatively safe for the past few weeks. Not wanting to cause her sister any more trouble, to have Abby worry about her constantly, Brynn believes the only way to do that is to become a wolf herself. Then she can fight back on her own and not need everyone else around her to do her fighting for her.
Trying to get the situation in hand, the alphas of Red Rock Pass have brought in other alphas to discuss the problem, but even with all that power on site, Matthews continues his forays into enemy territory, becoming bolder and getting through the defenses of the pack. Brynn’s decision is made for her when she’s attacked by a Matthews wolf, her resulting transformation taking place during a full moon, a time when new werewolves rarely survive.
But Brynn is determined to survive, and with the help of Joe she tries to get her new nature and power under control. They’ve grown closer during this time, both afraid to love but just as afraid not to. When the chips are down, though, they do whatever is necessary for the pack and for each other, if tomorrow comes after a night intense fighting. Joe and Brynn are terrific together. They both have fears to overcome, one of which is to trust their hearts. Brynn doesn’t want to lose herself in the submission that comes naturally to her wolf and Joe isn’t sure a relationship is the thing for him after giving it a try once before that didn’t work out. But they’re worrying against something more powerful than those fears and they really don’t have a chance when it comes to their destiny.
The only thing I wanted more of in this book was shifting. I wanted to see their wolves run and fight and whatever else wolves are wont to do, but most of that went on in the background. What I did get, though, was terrific. Keith, Abby, Gavin and Sam, the Red Rock Pass alphas, are all involved full force in the story, as well as other secondary characters from Cry Sanctuary. They’re all family, they all fight for each other, and that comes through loud and clear in these books. I’m already anticipating the next book, so I headed over to Ms. Rogers’ website to find out what I could about it. So sad, nothing there yet. Please don’t keep me waiting too long!
It’s a well known fact that i have a penchant for alpha males, specially the shape shifting type. So, Moira Rogers’s Red Rock Pass series is right up my alley and I have to say I loved it.
Sanctuary is actually two stories in one book. Cry Sanctuary and Sanctuary Lost both came out before in ebook version and now they have been put together and are coming out in one print volume.
The modern world and society are hell on werewolf traditions and the packs living in big cities have been corrupted into something more akin to a dictatorship.
Red Rock is home of one of the few packs in the world where the old laws and traditions are still appreciated and is also considered sanctuary to those who need to escape the cruel life among the distorted packs.
In Cry Sanctuary we get to know new werewolf Abby, ho is running from an alpha obsessed with making her his bitch in every sense of the word. Her best friend, Dylan, is a lower ranked wolf, but he can’t stand to see her suffer as such so he breaks her out and they both run to Red Rock.
Keith just came back from fighting in the war between wizards and werewolves in Europe. He is an enforcer for the alpha and his newest responsibility is bringing Abby and Dylan to red Rock safely.
Abby and Keith’s connection is undeniable and sets the book pages on fire. Their road to a HEA is not easy in the slightest, specially when the crazy alpha who is hunting Abby, kidnaps her sister and uses her as leverage to get what he wants.
Sanctuary Lost is the story of Abby’s sister Brynn and Keith’s friend and fellow enforcer, Joe. By saving Brynn, Joe has forged a connection that he is not sure he is ready to face. Brynn is human and stuck in midst a brewing war, she has a decision to make, stay human and weak among werewolves or become one of them.
Both stories are strong and action packed. There is a lot of smexing for sure , but the balance between plot and the sex is extremely well done and satisfying. I loved this book and I just can’t wait for more Red Rock Pass books.
If you are into Paranormal Romance, this is definitely a series you should look into to, great story, interesting plot, a lot of action in and out of bed and hot and sexy werewolves, what more can you ask for?
We meet Brynn and Joe in the first book. Sanctuary Lost takes place a few weeks after the end of Cry Sanctuary and we are thrown into the action from page 1! Brynn is human and she feels helpless, she’s worried the alpha from Helena will find a way to take her back and change her in order to torture her endlessly. Brynn wants to be able to fight, she wants to become a werewolf, but this decision is not only hers to make. Joe is worried this hasty decision is made for the wrong reasons…and once it’s done, there’s no coming back.
Joe usually helps new werewolves through their Initiation but he never gets close to them (He’s got a past as you can imagine!). I loved the fact that there’s a lot of Werewolf politics at stake here. Again it’s not only a story about 2 characters falling for each others, it’s a fast-paced book, filled with actions. I was shocked at some events in the book, because I really didn’t see them coming and while it was an intense read, I really enjoyed being surprised.
I’m usually always complaining about how short novellas are, well this time I will not! It was just perfect in my opinion, I love the story, I loved the characters and it never felt rushed or anything.
I think what made it different is that everything is not magically right in the end, and for once I think it’s a good thing (yeah I surprise myself every day) . It felt realistic (lol listen to me talking about werewolf story being realistic ). I think I loved this book even more than the first one because the world was already known to me, so I can only hope that next book will be even better (even though that means rethinking my whole grading system *wink*).
I love Joe…I just love him to pieces and it was a pleasure to read about him and Brynn…I’m just going to say that Joe is a bit into BDSM (Hot Hot Hot). We also get to see more of Keith and Abby in this book, this is always a perilous affair to find old heroes as secondary characters again but this was very well done. We see a different side of Abby here. This book deals with very dark stuff and I was a bit shocked at some events happening, it’s a cruel cruel world we’re dealing with.
I <3 this series. Each installment is between 125-160 pages but Moira Rogers packs so much story into those few pages I never feel shorted or left wanting. Each book seamlessly continues the story of the Red Rock Pass sanctuary while delivering an engaging romantic story. I love the friendship and loyalty each character brings to the story, but even more than that I love that we never really say goodbye to any of the characters. Each book may focus on a new couple, but previous couples are there and a part of the action still.
I enjoyed each story for different reasons, but if I had to choose a favorite is is probably Joe and Brynn's story, from Sanctuary Lost. Partly because Joe is so very alpha, but also because of the twist in Brynn’s character arc. At one point I was swearing because a choice was taken away from her and I wasn’t sure I agreed with the author’s decision to do it, it felt like the easy way out. Yet as I kept reading I realize how wrong I was… it was the perfect turn of events and made Joe and Brynn’s journey so much harder and fulfilling. I don’t want to give anything away so I won’t go into detail, but Brynn is tested and will continue to be tested… even tho she gets her happily ever after with Joe I doubt things will ever be easy for them. It probably says something about me that my favorite characters are continuously tortured eh?
Sanctuary Lost may be my favorite, but I was surprised to find Dylan and Sasha’s book a close second. Dylan is not an alpha wolf, but he is sexy and sweet in his own ways. He is strong and commanding without being afraid to let Sasha be in charge. Sanctuary’s Price had some of my favorite quotes of the series.
>>Dylan lifted his head and stared at her. “I want you to come. I want >>you to feel so good you can’t image anyone else touching you. I want >>you to be mine because I give you everything you need.”
If you are looking for well written, sexy, engaging pararnormal romance reads do not miss the Red Rock Pass series. Don’t forget to pick up the FREE short stories for the series from Moira Rogers’ website…. I enjoyed the shorts just as much as the novellas.
A month ago she didn't know they existed. Now she thinks the only way to survive is to become one of them. Can she do it and still keep her humanity and sense of self?

Plot: Brynn reasons being changed into a wolf will at least allow her to *survive* whatever the Bad Wolves choose to throw at her next. But with turning come consequences, and not all of them are easy to handle. Will she manage, or will being a werewolf wrench all her hopes for a HEA away forever?

Opinion ***SPOILERS***: My goodness these are exciting books! In "Sanctuary Lost" we get to explore some paranormal aspects not usually touched - the innate wolf submission, what it means to *not* be Top Dog, how *hard* it is to be a newly turned werewolf, and the constant desire for sex. And Rogers does it really well. "Sanctuary Lost" is an interesting, different, sometimes difficult read, with sufficient explicit sex, and characters I really came to care for. It's definitely a recommended series, but not for the faint of heart. These aren't cuddly, caring werewolves with a desire for Pack and Peace; we have aggressive, violent, sexy werewolves who sometimes forget humanity is important, theirs and others. A Good Read.
The second book in the Red Rock Pass series is a solid story by the duo that is Moira Rogers.
After surviving being brutalized by the mad Alpha, Matthews, all Brynn is doing is trying to survive in the world of werewolves that she suddenly finds herself thrust into. For her own safety, she finds herself living in Red Rock with her sister, Abby, a newly turned wereolf. Things get complicated when the sanctuary is attacked and Brynn, being human, is forced to flee the fight. Even as she runs to Joe, a dominant alpha werewolf, she finds herself ashamed that she has to abandon her werewolf sister to the battle because she's not strong enough to fight. Her helplessness in the face of the growing threat of attacks makes her consider the risk of becoming a werewolf herself.
Complicating things for Brynn is Joe. An ex-military man who is one of the top alpha's of Red Rock Pass, Joe is also gun-shy about anything that even hints at emotions. Even though a prior relationship burned him, Joe finds himself attracted to Brynn in ways he though were lost to him. Still he refuses to acknowledge those feelings which causes some serious cracks in the budding romance between him and Brynn.
Brynn, being human, first finds herself somewhat isolated and disconnected from the werewolf community around her. Her growing feelings for Joe both helps with this and further complicates things. But when things literally go moon crazy, Joe steps up to help Brynn.
I'd tell you more, but that would take away the fun of reading! I will say that they set it up nicely for the next book (which I have in queue).
Red Rock is being repeatedly attacked by Mathews and his minnions. He is furious about losing his potential Alpha female Abby and is desperate to get his revenge on Abby or any person she has ever cared about. Joe and Brynn are the hero and heroine of this story. Brynn was being used as leverage by Mathews (in the previous book) to get to Abby. Keith, Abby and Joe went in to retrieve her. Joe was the one to save her and Brynn has had a bit of a soft spot for him since. Again the humour in this book was fantastic along with a shedload of friendly banter. Brynn is sick of being the only weak link in the chain and is desperate to become a werewolf like the rest of them. Joe is my favourite hero so far. He is so strong and confident but it's his charming and flirtacious behaviour that made me love him. He always has a whitty come back and he's just so playful, you can't help but warm to him. If this review was just based on Joe and the others I would have given it five stars. Unfortunately even with all the humour and great story, Brynn just bought this book down for me. She initially just moaned on and on like a child about having to be protected and looked after. Also, she was a lot weaker than the other females, where they stood up for themselves, fought for eachother and ok let's admit it... a lot hotter in the bedroom, Brynn just fell flat for me. The storyline that came with her transformation just annoyed me even further. She is out of control and her constant fight with herself is dragging Joe down with her. I still absoulutely love this book, I just wish that Joe had gotten a more suitable mate.
I enjoyed the second installment of the Red Rock Pass series even more than the first. When I first started reading I didn’t think I could love Joe more than Keith. Was I ever wrong! His sense of humor did me in. There is just something about a guy who is sexy and can make me laugh. Present me with that combo and I’m a goner.
Sanctuary Lost is Brynn and Joe’s story. Brynn is a law student who finds herself immersed in werewolf drama after she is kidnapped by a psychotic alpha. Brynn is young, sassy, and completely endearing. Joe is a total smart ass but in a charming way. You’ll like it, I promise! The chemistry between Joe and Brynn is intense. It made this book difficult to put down.
The events in Sanctuary Lost are heart wrenching at times. The authors managed to make me feel an array of emotions in less than 150 pages. That is saying something about their ability to tell a story. It also contains everything I loved about the first book in the series. Romance, action, and fascinating characters make for a heck of a good book. This was a fabulous addition to a very addictive series.
Where I felt that the first book in the series left me wanting more in the way of werewolf mythology, this one gave it to me and gave it to me hard. Picking up Brynn's story after she was rescued from the mad Alpha's grasp, she's now living in Red Rock, trying to learn all about this new world she's been thrust into. However, Alan Matthews isn't dead and he keeps sending his wolves into Red Rock to try to capture both Brynn and Abby. Joe, the Alpha wolf who rescued her, can barely keep his hands off of her and the only thing holding him back is the trauma she was subjected to during her capture. When Brynn is attacked and accidentally turned, Joe has to teach her how to merge with her wolf before she's driven insane by it.
I really, really liked this book. Brynn isn't an Alpha wolf (unlike Abby) and she knows so little about the werewolf way of life that she's floundering left and right. Her relationship with Joe gave us an interesting look into the submissive side of the werewolf community.
Red Rock is under attack by Alan Matthews, an evil alpha from the small town of Helana. He is pissed that he lost his alpha female Abby and he is going after her loved ones to get her back. Brynn is not an alpha but she is still strong and when Matthews tries to use her to get to Abby she will not give in.
This is book 2 in the Red Rock Pass series and like the first book I enjoyed the story and history of the wolves. I also loved the characters in this book. I liked that Brynn wasn't an alpha but that she still managed to hold her own with both Alan and Joe. It was interesting to see the alphas through the eyes of a non-alpha and I liked that Joe didn't use his power with Brynn unless he had to to help her.
These books are captivating and a quick and easy read. If you like shifters with a bit of a difference and HOT men, this series is for you.
Continuation of Red Rock Pass Series, this story tells about Brynn Adler sister of Abby, and Joe Mitchell enforcer for Gavin and Sam. It centers around Brynn’s rescue from bastard alpha Alan Mathew’s pack in Helena just up the road. The corrupt alpha has sent a message to Abby. I’ve got your sister. Abby and Keith set out to rescue Brynn with the help of Joe but they meet one challenge after another. Joe and Brynn are drawn to each other from the get go. But each has baggage that weigh down the relationship, with nothing going right. Oh and Brynn is human, Joe a wolf which lends itself to problems. Moira expands the world with new characters, plot twists, intrigue and just plain ties you down till the last page! Don’t start this till you can set a spell. Looking forward to all the rest in this series!
With the last book I wondered if Brynn would need/want to make the choice that she was thinking about in this book. I think it would be awkward to be the human among all werewolves. I thought that Brynn's way of thinking was right, not just knee jerk reaction.
I did get tired of how Joe hemmed and hawed about things with Brynn. Instead of comforting Brynn, his words made her more anxious. I did like how everyone was trying to give advice to Joe, too bad he didn't take it.
I was surprised by the balls that Matthews had coming to Red Rock Pass and the specific times he did. I was glad to see how things ended with him.
I didn't enjoy this one as much as Cry Sanctuary. Brynn was whiny and had issues with control that just seemed far fetched. I thought she was wasted on Joe, who deserved a much better female to bond with. I would only recommend this to someone who is reading the series, as there are a few things that arc in this book and foreshadow events to come.
Bryanny is saved by Joe and turn of events the alpha after her sister..... sends someone to hurt her again to hurt her sister cause he can't have her. Bryanny is hurt badly so she's changed on as full moon. Joe's her guide has to help her as she more feral than the normal wolf turned. Wholesaling for her. She falling for him. Good story. Love Abigail and Keith. These too and lovely too......their alpha are great and like match makers.
I like Moira Rogers' Southern Arcana series, which led to my reading both this book and the preceding one in this series, Cry Sanctuary. Both are quick, easy reads with characters that I *could* be drawn to, but both books are underdeveloped and end far too quickly.
This one was good, but didn't do as much for me as the first one. I felt it moved a little slow. I did, however, like that the author didn't just dump the main characters from the first book. They are still involved and you get to feel some sense of continuation with those main characters. I was happy with were this new storyline went, it just took its time in getting there and the characters were a little over stubborn.
Very enjoyable indeed, especially for such a short novel. The worldbuilding is solid, and if I found the impending werewolf war more interesting than the romance--well, that just means that this is more on the Patricia Briggs side of urban fantasy/ romance.
I really liked the heroine--damaged, yet strong--and not, thank goodness, yet another alpha.
Markedly improved from the first in the series - much better world building, character interactions and dialogue. I liked Brynn and Joe together, and it was nice to see Dylan get his moment to shine near the end.
I bought the series when it was on sale for .99 cents for each book, so expect reviews (such as they are) for books #3 and #4 coming soon!
i don't know why, but i really dig these werewolf stories. especially the ones in series, where you get to revisit characters from previous books. also like the blend of my two fave types of escapist reading: romance/erotica & mystery/thriller. highly enjoyable.
I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first, though I did like it. I had issues with the secondary characters. But I think it's b/c I was so in tune with the heroine. So..probably the author did a good job. I'll have to think a little more before writing a full review.
