Save Nina is an action packed novel which tells the story of Wesley Sullivan, an ex-corrections officer who grew up, exposed to the racist sentiments and beliefs of his father and grandfather. He is released from jail after serving a relatively short sentence for attacking a hispanic gang leader, Victor Hernandez. He carries on with the beliefs he has grown up with, until he witnesses first-hand the injustice and suffering, immigrants go through in the hands of people they have trusted to bring them to safety. This experience changes his entire belief system and makes him question what he has grown up to know, as the truth. Things start to get messier, particularly as he finds himself falling hard and fast for his arch enemy's sister, Nina.

I found Save Nina to be full of action and suspense which left my heart beating a couple of times. There is also a lot of shooting, gun wielding and beer drinking in the story and I recommend it to anyone looking for an action-packed and drama filled story where current political issues are addressed.

This is my kind of book, filled with action and adventure. Wesley has recently been released from prison for attacking a gang member who helped his father's killer enter the country. Wesley is set on trying to stay out of prison but the war on the gangs come back to him. He is embroiled in the fight and finds himself helping the one person he thought was his enemy. Full of action and drama this book held my interest and addressed several hot button issues in modern day politics. The issue of immigration and corruption in the gang wars were handled appropriately and given center stage in this drama. I would highly recommend for those who enjoy action/adventure books.

It was quite difficult for me to get through this book; for several reasons, but I am just going to touch base with the main ones.

First, the phrasing a grammar were quite poor. Not just spelling errors but also a lot of word confusion.

Second, there are several times when it is like the author forgot that she was writing in first-person and would say him or he in reference to the main character, the one who was the one telling the story.

Third, and this one might be silly, but someone was shot, at fairly close range, with a shotgun and it was described as a small hole in the dead guy's head. Now I know that not everyone has experience with guns and how they work. But when so much of your story involves shooting you should really do your research. In the situation, the person that was shot with a shotgun would have suffered catastrophic damage to their head. He would not be recognizable.

Fourth, this is a very predictable book. Not a single twist was something new and unexpected. I considered putting the book down several times and didn't in hopes that it would get better. It didn't and I guessed all the 'surprises' right to the end.

It is just meh. I won't read it again and honestly wish I hadn't read it in the first place. To each their own, though.
