This book can help you improve your reading skills, but like the author said: we teach you how to drive, and you need to practice your skills.
Put time and energy in it.

While you are reading this book, it not only teach you how to become a better reader , but also teach you how to become a thinker.

Reading smart teaches various reading techniques in a way that is easy to understand and accessible to a wide audience. Many practice exercises are provided, and the author makes a point to emphasize the importance of practicing continually outside of this guide. Purpose is more towards building baseline skills rather than serving as a review for those with these skills already mastered. So, while this book can be a resource for those wanting to improve their reading in general, it will be more helpful to those who do not have as much experience reading and reading consistently. It will also be a resource to those who want to update their reading techniques, as well as those wanting to improve their standardized testing skills.

Lots of good advice to be found here, but the quizzes are frequently inconsistent, even wrong, about the answers. Also, the author stresses smart reading, not fast reading, but by the end the author is arguing for fast reading (cutting corners) as if it’s smart reading. Take note of the advice this book offers, but watch out for consistency!
