Rate this book
“BRAVE NEW WORLD” BY DAVID BISHOP

A year after the fateful events of the Odessa Summit, the world is a very different place. It’s certainly no longer friendly for Evolved Humans—or “Evos”—who are held responsible for what happened. If the government doesn’t find you, there are some tenacious and merciless Evo-hunters out there who will.

Based on Tim Kring’s original drafts of the script for the season premiere of  Heroes Reborn  and includes content not seen in the TV show.

“A MATTER OF TRUST” BY TIMOTHY ZAHN

As the number of Evolved Humans increases, so does the pressure from the governments and people of the world. Father Mauricio begins searching for a way to help all Evos after befriending a troubled teenager who possesses a devastating secret. As a priest, it is Father Mauricio’s calling to protect the innocent and this includes the Evos who, by no fault of their own, find their lives and freedom being threatened.

“DIRTY DEEDS” BY STEPHEN BLACKMOORE

A veteran Federal agent begins investigating the involvement of ruthless Los Angeles Police Department detective James Dearing in the death of an Evolved Human. But when she gets close to uncovering a dangerous truth, it could cost him his job, his freedom, maybe even his life.

THREE BRAND-NEW NOVELLAS BASED ON NBC’S WORLD-WIDE HIT TV SERIES  HEROES , AND THE EPIC EVENT SERIES  HEROES REBORN .

I had thought this was a collection of stories based on the world seen in the tv shows Heroes and Heroes Reborn. It sort of is, but it's mostly set up for the first season of Heroes Reborn. While I think the first season of Heroes was amazingly well done, the later series really wasn't quite as good.

The three stories in here are:

Brave New World, by David Bishop, which has a lot about the kid named Tommy and the Evo-hunters Luke and Joanne, with some brief scenes of Horn Rimmed Glasses Noah Bennett and Rene the Hattian.

A Matter of Trust, by the great Timothy Zahn, which focuses on Father Mauricio and El Vengador in East LA.

and

Dirty Deeds, by Stephen Blackmoore, which is mostly about crooked cop and hidden Evo James Dearing.

It was a decent set of stories, just didn't wow me. I do miss the original Heroes, and would have liked to see more about those characters.

Reading the first story of Heroes Reborn Collection One, I wondered if, contrary to my initial assumptions, the stories were all simply rehashes of different episodes. However, after that opening tale, the other two were, as expected, new material offering background on two of the characters from the reboot series. My favourite by far was A Matter of Trust. It was interesting to learn more about how Father Mauricio discovered his powers and ended up a priest helping other Evos escape the country. Overall, these were enjoyable and well-written pieces that will delight any Heroes fan. 3.5-4 stars.

This was a fun flashback to the Heroes tv show. Consisting of three short stories, it continues with a couple of the characters. Set several years into the future from the end of the show. The stories are good, not great. But enjoyable.

I was given an opportunity to review this book and I am glad for it. After reading a few pages I was drawn into the story. I find that if It does not grab me from the beginning, I don't finish the story, but these three stories in this book delivers. The three stories flow nicely together and I had no difficulty going from one story to the next. I am not a syfy reader but I enjoyed the story very much. It was not hard to follow or understand. I really enjoyed the continuation of the story from the original Heroes series. I loved that the first story in this book, had a grown up Claire (cheerleader from the first Heroes series). In general it was fun and entertaining book to read. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
