The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy

Rate this book
At just twenty-five years old, Elinor has landed the job of her dreams: She’s going to be Merry the Advice Fairy for the Snowflake Valley Gazette. She’s ecstatic that she’s about to embark on a fun, cushy career while living in the cutest, quaintest town she’s ever known.

She’s barely settled into her desk at work when that famous Snowflake Valley shimmer starts to fizzle. The real Snowflake Valley bears little resemblance to the picture postcard tourist destination she and her family loved when she was a child. Her new co-workers are uninspiring, to say the least, and the problems that people are submitting to the Gazette are much weightier than what she was expecting.

Losing faith in herself, Elinor considers cutting her losses and moving on. However, the attention of hot young reporter Nile might be enough to get her past her chilly start in Snowflake Valley, and back to seeing its charm once again.

Audiobook book.

This story was short but sweet. Elinor has a new job and is moving to the magical town of snowflake valley. Her new job involves finding the heart of the town. An advice column sounded like an easy task but Elinor soon realised she’s going to need to dig around for some of the answers.

With romance and a loveable town, this is a fun story.

I will definitely be reading more by this author.

This was a short and sweet novella. I liked the premise of the story and the main character, but the rest of the character felt and acted very odd at times. I also had a feeling like this was an introduction to a full novel, because the action did jump at times and would definitely benefit from more development.

Book Title: The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy
Book Authors: Holly Tierney-Bedord
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Rating: 5 stars

It’s a Christmas story, a romance story, and one full of lessons.

This story is about a 25 year old girl named Elinor who decided to move to her favorite town and work an advice columnist. What I really liked about this novella was that Elinor was really naive about her job. She thought that the questions would be fun to answer! Those questions were considerable hard and sounded real. It felt good to read about a character coming into herself and learning more about life in a little town of about 2,500 people.

I've read this author's work before and was very happy that she did not let me down. Sometimes, it's easy to be let down by our favorite authors. I know that I have let people down, but I'm also still learning life lessons.

I recommend it to sixteen of age and older.

The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy was the first story I’ve read by author Holly Tierney-Bedord and it’s definitely peaked my interest to read more of her books!
If you are looking for a cute weekend read, this is for you!

To be in a new city and starting a new job - what is a girl to do? Well, that is just what twenty-five year old Elinor faces. She’s finally landed the job of her dreams; she’s going to be the newest “Merry the Advice Fairy” for the Snowflake Valley Gazette. She’s so excited to start her new exciting career in the cutest town she’s ever known. However, things aren’t as picture-perfect in Snowflake Valley and as the Advice Fairy as Elinor initially thought!

Enter Nile, the hot in-house reporter who has the most brilliant blue eyes, Elinor has ever seen. Elinor is immediately smitten and Nile just might be what she needs to get fall back in love with Snowflake Valley.

I absolutely loved this book and I give it 5 stars! This story was full of wit, charm, and was extremely heartfelt. Elinor’s advice for her column was absolutely realistic and something I could see myself sharing with close friends over a cup of coffee. The characters were very relatable which made for a fun and realistic read. The author's writing flowed smoothly and I look forward to reading more of her stories! Seriously, this is the perfect weekend read during Winter break! One-click now, you won’t regret it!

A short story/novella and nicely written. Fun and romantic - although a little more focus on the romance would have been nice. Loved how Elinor dealt with the problem page!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy by Holly Tierney-Bedord is a sweet little romance to read.
Is the real Snowflake Valley to much for Elinor?
Elinor and Nile
Elinor is the main character and is the new Snowflake Valley's Advice Fairy named Merry the Fairy. She is trying to figure out how to connect with the townspeople that are more real and not so festive like they are at the festivals. Elinor is a great character as she is trying to make this work but isn't feeling it. Until Elinor gets some good ideas and maybe sees what the townspeople think of the new advice fairy.

Nile is the male love interest and is a reporter. He is a complex character who doesn't want to let anyone in until Elinor comes along and changes his mind. Nile is also essential for Elinor, and I like how their little romance came through. I think that Nile is a charming guy but doesn't want anyone to see it as he has been hurt before. However, what he does to help Elinor out is adorable.
Narrator
I think that Jeannette Smith did a fabulous job of narrating this story. She did each voice for every character very well. I love it. Ms. Smith did a fantastic job, and I look forward to "ear reading" or listening to another book that she narrates.
Five Stars
The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy by Holly Tierney-Bedord is worthy of this five-star rating and a recommendation. It's a perfect book to either listen to or read. It's a great romance, and I love the newspaper feel of it. Ms. Tierney-Bedord is a great author, and I love reading, or in this case, listening to her books. Elinor and Nile are two great characters, especially with their older coworkers. Their coworkers don't believe that these two millennials are going to do a great job at being a reporter and advice fairy.

Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this audiobook review of The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy by Holly Tierney-Bedord.

Until the next time,

Really hooked by the characters in this book. They are so real and some are absolutely crazy. A fun and entertaining story. Elinor is a real and personable and really cares about what advice she will give as the Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy. Unlike the previous advice columnist Elinor answers the readers’ questions with helpful advice. Want to know more of this town and its inhabitants. Looking forward to reading more by Holly Tierney-Bedord.

This was a quick read, around 90 minutes.

I LOVED it! I could not put it down once I started, I stayed up way too late to finish it. Small towns aren't always how you picture them. Change is hard but usually for the best, Elinor learns this quickly. Co workers aren't always the easiest people to be around, but stand your ground! So many little lessons in this novella.

The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy is a novella by Holly Tierney-Bedord. I have read a few of Ms. Tierney-Bedord’s books and have enjoyed them all thoroughly. She has a unique and distinctive style, an almost innocent and optimistic approach to her writing. Her books that I have read so far - have all been fresh, fun and light hearted; this one included.
Elinor is 25 years old and has just moved to Snowflake Valley to take up her new position as ‘Merry the Advice Fairy’ (AKA the Agony Aunt) with the local newspaper. Elinor feels a sentimental attachment to Snowflake Valley, because during her childhood she and her family spent many wonderful holidays there. She is thrilled to have landed the position and can’t wait to start helping people with their problems.
But she’s barely made it through her first day and is already struggling with the responsibility that her job entails. The problems that people want help with are extremely complicated and Elinor is not sure that there is any way to help them. Her new work colleagues seem none too happy to have her there. Elinor is constantly reminded that she has very big shoes to fill, as the previous person who did the job was well liked and respected.
With her morale falling to an all-time low, Elinor is ready to admit defeat and leave Snowflake Valley for good- when she meets the in house reporter, Nile. He has the most brilliant blue eyes she’s ever seen; that sexy, freshly tussled look to his blonde hair; and he seems so adorable. She is immediately taken with him.
Will he be enough of a reason for Elinor to stay in Snowflake Valley? Why does he seem to shut people out? Will Elinor be able to find a solution for the problems that have so far had her stumped? Can she find the wonder that she once held for this quaint, quirky little town- or is it all too late for that?
I loved this book! Ms. Tierney-Bedord has been able to fit a lot of story and detail, into such a small package. The premise of the story is brilliant and the author has a real talent, because this book is beautifully written. It’s a witty, charming, heartfelt, and enjoyable read.
I love the advice that Elinor dispensed, it was proactive and realistic; not some generalised information, but specific to the person’s needs. I also loved Nate and would have liked to have found out even more about him and had a lot more of their romance explored in the book. But, I understand that wasn’t possible with this being a novella size book. I personally think this premise and storyline, would have lent itself better to a full size novel and that would have taken this read to a whole new level of enjoyment, for me.
The story has a great pace and flowed smoothly. It didn’t feel rushed in anyway, until the end. It seemed to me that the story ended rather abruptly. I still had unanswered questions and felt like I was left to make my own conclusions.
Having said that, I really did enjoy the book and recommend it as a sweet, quick, delightful read!
I am looking forward to reading more of Ms. Tierney-Bedord’s work.

Thank you Ms. Tierney-Bedord.

The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy by Holly Tierney-Bedord is the story of Elinor, who has been hired to write an advice column for the Snowflake Valley Gazette, “Merry” the Advice Fairy. She will be replacing the previous advice columnist, Trudy, who has recently passed away.
Growing up Elinor loved Snowflake Valley; she would come every year as a youngster to the festivals with her family and always thought Snowflake Valley was the “happiest place on the planet”. When the job for the Advice Fairy came up she thought how lucky she would be to work and live in her favorite place not to mention thinking the job would be a cakewalk. Boy was she wrong!
It turns out being an “advice fairy” isn’t as easy as it sounds when you find out that these residents have real problems they are dealing with. Elinor doesn’t know if she can deal with it, she feels she doesn’t have enough knowledge or life experience to help these people. She eventually makes a deal with the editor, Mr. Peabody, to answer five letters and if she still wants to leave after that she is free to go.
Elinor accepts the challenge. The letters chosen are: #1: “Anonymous Dad” - A single dad, who is raising 4 kids, is broke, tired and doesn’t know how he is going to make it through the holidays. Letter #2: “Stylish Stella” – a woman who has been helping herself with company finances that doesn’t want to go to jail. Letter#3: “Miss Sad about My Dog” – a little girl whose parents are divorcing and moving into apartments where she can’t keep her dog. Letter #4: “Angry Neighbor” – Annoyed with her neighbor who is showing of her newfound wealth. Letter #5: “D” – an old flame of Trudy.
What a cute little novella! I really enjoyed reading how Elinor managed to figure out what to do with her advice to these letters, although I wish the end results were shared with the reader. It almost felt like the ending was cut off.
I would recommend this story to anyone looking for something easy to read, smart, and funny this holiday season.

Review first posted on my blog, 'A Spoonful of Happy Endings': http://spoonfulofhappyendings.blogspo...

'The Snowflake Valley Asvice Fairy' tells the story of twenty-five-year-old Elinor who is incredibly excited to take on her new job as Merry the Advice Fairy for the local paper in the cute town of Snowflake Valley. Elinor can't wait to help people with their problems and to finally live in the town she loved so much when she visited it when she was still a little girl. However, it doesn't take long before Elinor realises the town is not exactly what she hoped it would be and her colleagues aren't the most supportive either. Elinor is almost ready to give up, but might there be something, or someone, to convince her of staying and giving both the job and village another chance...?

This was my first time checking out one of author Holly Tierney-Bedord's works and an experience I thoroughly enjoyed! I really loved the storyline of this novella, namely protagonist Elinor taking on a new job as an advice columnist for a local newspaper. I loved reading the letters people wrote to Elinor, and her trying to think of ways to help them. This could easily be a great plotline for an entire novel; definitely a novel I'd love to pick up, especially in combination with the author's comfortable and well-paced writing style.

Next to the main storyline, there was also a touch of romance, of course. I personally would have liked a bigger focus on the romance aspect of the novella, but I understand there's limited space in a novella like this! Overall, I thought it was a thoroughly entertaining festive novella, and a great introduction to a new author! 'The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy' is a fun and festive romance novella, perfect to pick up on a cold or rainy December morning, or just whenever you feel like a quick read!

This novella is pure gold and everything you can ask for in a story. This darling book spotlights delightful characters, and overflows with wit, whimsy and creativity.

“It’s Snowflake Valley. It’ll make you a little crazy.”

Young Elinor romps into the Snowflake Valley Gazette to take on her first job. She remembers Snowflake Valley as the “happiest place on the planet.” Her eagerness is dampened when she learns more about her writing job. She is taking over for the paper’s former “agony aunt” and the editor gives her one week to handlefive problem letters. The old biddies at the Gazette office are no help at all. But a young reporter, Nile, reaches out to her.

The letters and problems that Elinor receives are a hoot.
But Elinor takes her responsibility to really help others seriously.

“Welcome to small town life,” Nile said. “It’s unique but it grows on you.”

Although the story takes place near Christmas, it’s not really a Christmas story so you can read it any time during the year when you are in the mood for a cute, sweet, surprising, entertaining read. Author Holly Tierney-Bedord’s writing has definitely grown on me!

This story was a little absurd in the premise as I found Elinor's obliviousness to what her new job would entail a little unbelievable. But, her sweetness was lovely. She has a good heart. Once she decided to really take on the true meaning of what it would take to do her job I was with her. She really got to know about this little town and not just the picturesque view she had in her childhood memory. There's enough in this little novella to have me curious about reading another book by the author.

The Snowflake Valley by Holly Tierney-Bedord. I give this book 5/5 stars. The theme of this book is a girl moves to a town she visited when she was a kid. This is a novella.
Elinor is new to Snowflake Valley and is twenty five years old. She is the new advice fairy for the local paper. Her life is changed three weeks later when she decides to stay. The quote I chose for her shows that she really wants the job: “Floundering? No, I'm not floundering at all. In fact, at this point in my life, I don't even want a boyfriend. I'm too busy focusing on my career. I'm sure you can appreciate that. And even if I do get married someday, it's not going to be like what you're saying. We'll be equals.”
Nile is the editor and twenty-four years old. He is known as a jersey around town until he decides to tell part of his past in the paper. His life is now good in the town he has made his home. The quote I chose for him is when they are out: “I think you're going to end up liking it as much as you hoped you would. I mean, before you decided you hated it.”
This is the second book I've read by Holly Tierney-Bedord. I really liked everything single thing about the book. I felt happiness throughout the entire book. I was instantly in the book from the beginning. I highly recommend this if you like holiday romances. Check out this amazing author, series and any books she has.

The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy is a novella written by Holly Tierney-Bedord. Elinor moves to Snowflake Valley for her dream job to take over the advice column and become Merry the Advice Fairy. Elinor is a young woman who the editor was definitely not expecting. Elinor was very happy to land the job as advice columnist in Snowflake Valley, because she had such fond memories as young girl of visiting and loving this small town. But after only one day in Snowflake Valley, she is not sure this is going to be a good fit. That was until Nile, the reporter for the paper introduced himself to Elinor. Both are young, single and relatively new to Snowflake Valley. You hope that both we like each other, Elinor is not sure after the go out for the first time. Elinor has her own ideas of what to bring to her advice column, which may not be what the paper is looking for, but she knows she can do this. Even if being nervous when she first showed up at the paper.

Holly Tierney-Bedord does a wonderful job with the story. This novella has a bit of everything from romance to a little mystery. You do not want the story to end, you want to read more about Elinor and Nile. The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy is another 5 star story by Holly-Tierney Bedord.

The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy
by Holly Tierney-Bedord
4 Stars

This is a quick one-click to help get into the holiday spirit. At twenty-five years old, Elinor has landed the job of her dreams: She’s going to be Merry the Advice Fairy for the Snowflake Valley Gazette. She thought this would be an easy and fun job that would be left at work and wouldn’t linger when she got home. However, she quickly realizes real people have real problems. These people ask for advice and she has to figure out how to help all of them.
Just when she is about to give up, Nile, a young writer, enters the picture and gives her a reason to stay. He is just the encouragement Elinor needs to stay and tough through the hard times to find the sweet in the holiday season.
This short book (less than 100 pages) fits the bill for a quick holiday read. The story is easy to follow, the writing is strong, and the romance is sweet and relatively straight forward. I liked Elinor's advice, she gives people real solutions, and learns as much as the rest from answering questions. However, the reader never learns how the advice seekers turn out.

The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy is written by Holly Tierney-Bedord. This is a quaint, adorable short novella.

Elinor, only twenty-five years old, has secured a job in Snowflake Valley at the Snowflake Valley Gazette as an advice columnist – she’ll be known as Merry the Advice Fairy. Elinor is absolutely ecstatic about this new adventure in a town she’s known in her childhood holiday visits. However, not all is as it appears in Snowflake Valley and after reading several letters written to the paper for her to offer advice, Elinor begins to become defeated. She’s no longer sure if this was the best choice.

One day, Elinor meets Nile, a hot and attractive reporter that also works at the paper. Maybe he’ll be able to change her view on her job and her view on the town.

Holly Tierney-Bedord can write cute stories with a bit of humor mixed in. She has written Elinor as an individual still growing with her own quirks. She gets quickly overwhelmed, but somehow she finds a way to look at things from a different perspective and it actually works.

Dear Trudy,
I really enjoyed reading The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy by Holly Tierney-Bedord and I give it 4 fun novella stars. Let me explain why…
Elinor is young and sparkly eyed after landing her dream job in lovely Snowflake Valley at The Snowflake Valley Gazette. “My parents always said that Snowflake Valley’s the happiest place on the planet, and they were right. I have to live here.” From the opening sentence this sweet holiday novella had me hooked.
Elinor becomes the Advice Fairy for this idyllic town. How hard can it be? Well… All is not as it seems.
One of my favorite lines is: “If the Google had the answers, you’d be out of a job.” THE Google..hahaha oh, those precocious old folks are so darn cute. Or are they????
This light, easy, breezy holiday read was everything I wanted it to be. I believe I would have enjoyed it just as much if it was a full length novel that went even deeper.
So you see, Dear Trudy, THAT is why I recommend this book. I hope you enjoy it also.
Signed,
Maura

**This review is for the audiobook on Audible.**

The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy by Holly Tierney-Bedord, narrated by Jeanette Smith is the perfect novella-length audiobook to get you in the mood for the holiday season. I'll let you read the plot synopsis on your own, so I don't spoil it for you, but if you enjoy light, fun reads with added elements of sweet romance, this is definitely the one to get.

The narration was good. Jeanette Smith sounded exactly as I would expect her character to sound. Her voice was kind and sweet, and I felt as if she was a friend. She had good pace, volume, and consistency. I enjoyed listening to her.

Overall, I rate The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy by Holly Tierney-Bedord, narrated by Jeanette Smith 4 out of 5 stars. I own almost all the Kindle books by Tierney-Bedord, and I'm excited to see she has quite a few on audio! I plan to listen to her ever-so-popular Murder at Mistletoe Manor very soon...looks like a fan favorite. Happy listening!

Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. :-)

-I found this book for free on Amazon via Freebooksy; this is my honest review.
-My first LOL/OMG reaction: “Just basics, like how to cook, stuff, and carve a turkey. How to make pumpkin pie from scratch. How to make wild rice and mushroom casserole. You know. Just the basics." Yep, those are just the basics.
-I found it sad that Barbara and Beebee seemed to blame Elinor for taking Trudy's place by the way they treat her; it sure not her fault she died. The best advice: just stay away from them. They think they are the boss of everyone.
-I liked that pace Nile and Elinor decided to follow. It's a fun, clean romance with a nice build-up.
-I was impressed on how Elinor responded to the problems that were written to her. There's a bit of PRN in there also, if you don't believe in coincidences.
-The jury's still out on the abilities of people management of Mr. Peabody. With Elinor but also with both Barbara and Beebee. To an extent, I would include Trudy, since her work was not that good and probably didn't help anyone.
-Editing: "and my fiancé" - that's a male. Female is fiancée.

The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy is holiday novella by Holly Tierney-Bedford.
When Elinor lands a job in the town where she had so many great childhood memories she is beyond happy, especially since she will be working for a paper like she always imagined herself doing.
Too bad for Elinor it does not take long for the town to lose its magic! What she first thought of as a "fun job" turns out to be more real then she ever expected. She never thought of the town as a real place, but more a fun place for the tourist.
When she finds herself in the dumps about her new move and career can Nile be enough to change her mind? Can he show her the fun of the town and bring back the spark in her?
I adored this cute short story. Perfect holiday read to just get to feeling good. It was very well written with details you can sometimes miss with short stories, this author did it perfectly. Grab a blanket and curl up with this sweet holiday read!

Audible. Also available in KU.

This novella was my first listen from Holly Tierney-Bedord. At just under two hours it’s a quick listen with several moments of levity. Most of it revolving around Elinor’s adventures of settling in to life in Snowflake Valley and reading letters from townspeople seeking advice. It required a little suspension of reality (small town weekly advice columnist is not a full time job), letting that go it was a cute story. It will be best enjoyed by those understanding that the romance is a small percentage of the story.

Jeannette Smith’s narration is perfect for the age of the main character and she does a good job of giving each of the townspeople their own unique sound.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from Audiobooks Unleashed and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I really enjoyed this audio-book.
Elinor always loved going to Snowflake Valley as a kid, so after graduating from college she is hired to be an newspaper advice writer not knowing what the job really entails...
When she is confronted with the realities of the job she is blindsided and wants to quit but has to fulfill the obligations of her job before she can quit and while doing that she discovers that she indeed loves her new job
she discovers that the stuffy reporter she had been warned about was actually quite nice and very cute and when he asked her out to dinner she gladly accepts, so in the addition of her new job will the possibility of a new romance also be in the air.

When you are in need of a job, and the advice column for the local paper comes up, Elinor grabs a hold of it. After all, how hard can it be to give people advice? Not only is she living in the shadow of long time guidance giving Trudy, but the name change of the column also raised some eyebrows. Does she have enough experience to give help to those in need? This quirky listen is fun and witty. I loved the women cackling and the ghost of Trudy overseeing her. But the best was the advice she finally gave! It's a good, comforting listen and Jeannette Smith does it justice.

This story was short but cute. I enjoyed it.

It actually went in a different direction than I initially thought which is always fun.

Nial and Elinor are super cute together and end up fitting together quite nicely. The story ends on an up swing while leaving the door open for you to imagine where they go next.

The narrator Jeanette Smith has a super cutesy voice which makes it harder for her to do male voices but not impossible lol I enjoyed her performance
