Firsts and Forever #10.5

Hitman's Holiday

Rate this book
It’s Christmas Eve at Nana Dombruso’s house, and a wild party is in full swing. Gangsters, strippers and Nana’s ‘gay homosexuals’ are certainly bringing the holiday cheer. But all I can think about is what will happen when I see Constantino Dombruso again.

Connie and I have a very long, very complicated history. The last time I saw him, he’d tracked me down because someone had hired him to carry out a hit on my brother Luca and me. He didn’t go through with it, but the tension between us is through the roof.

His life has been on a troubling trajectory over the last decade. But the fact is, Connie got under my skin a long time ago, and despite everything, the attraction between us has always been electric.

When we see each other tonight at the party, there could be fireworks or gunfire. It could go either way.

***This holiday short story features characters from Alexa Land’s best-selling Firsts and Forever series. It’s told from Andreo’s perspective, who was introduced in the most recent book in the series, All I Believe. But it can also be enjoyed as a stand-alone for those unfamiliar with the series.

This gay erotic romance is about 21,000 words in length. It contains graphic sex and is only intended for adult readers.***

***** Interesting holiday interlude from this gangster series by Alexa Land. Wild bad guys doing naughty things, but deeply loving their men. When Andreo arrives at the party house his eyes popped open! The decorations were crazy, with a pink lights on the palm tree with white lights on the fronds at the top, making it look like a spurting penis, along with white wire lighted deer posing naughtily, etc. Fun to picture it. Awesome M/M sex several times throughout, plus flashbacks that broke to earlier encounters and then going back to the party they end up attending. Constantino can't believe he's found someone who loves him for who he is.

"Thank you...for loving me when I can't even believe in myself. For seeing something worthwhile in me that no one else can see..."

This is a terrific short story of the final piece of their relationship finally melding, where Constantino stops running from Andreo. Beautiful.

We also get the recipes for Nana's Cocktails:

French Kiss, because it makes you pucker?
Santa's Blue Balls
Santa's Slippery Schlong
Tropical F---ing Fruit Thing
Sex on My Face

...and Nana says "don't forget the pineapple juice...it makes your spunk taste delicious " !!!

Great tale, good humor, fun. ENJOY !!!

Having this book show up on my feed on Christmas was a present. Getting it as a gift from Rosa after my discovery was the best present. Thank you Rosa!

I was so anxious for this after it was mentioned at the end of All I Believe. I wanted to know the history behind Connie and Dreo. I didn't just want their ending, I needed to see their beginning. And, I got exactly what I wanted.

They truly are made for each other.

I am unsure how I feel about the end and hope that we get to catch up with them in the future because I gotta know they are safe and happy.

Merry Christmas!

Nice little novella about two sidecharacters who were introduced in the previous book. It was steamy and cheesy and ridiculous ofcourse, and I loved every page of it ;)

I just can't wait for Jessie's story...he's become my favorite character in this series and I hope his book will be awesome, just like he is :))

4 stars for this one

This makes up for my lost love in the previous book.
OMG!
This book, this is why I love this series. The boys were so damn swoony and there was more of them in the story than of Nana Shenanigans.

Yeah. I wanted this, like badly wanted it and I love that it went back and forth from past to present to give us the adorable and sexy story of Connie and Andy.

This book...
Swoon Central.
Hot as hell.
Full of insta-love that I fall hard for.
Yup.
Just as it should be.

Told from Andreo Natori's POV, whom we first met in All I Believe as the well-intentioned, but over-protective brother of Luca, this short story focuses on the history between Andreo and Constantino "Connie" Dombruso from their explosive beginning to their sweet HEA ending.

Short, sweet, and hot as hell this sexy novella was a good time!

Hadn't read ANYTHING in the series, and still loved this book about Connie and Dreo. It's hella hot and sexy and an enormously fun read. The story is in Dreo's POV and it would have been good to at least have an inkling what the heck Connie was thinking over the last 10 years or so!

Strange book.It felt totally one sided,it would have helped immensely if we had at least an inkling of what the other main character involved in this bizarre dance of sex that spanned almost a decade was thinking as most of his actions were incomprehensible.

Just seemed a bit strange that a cold blooded hit man would go bottoms up,legs spread or back arched once every five years to an almost stranger & than vanish at first light.Just reminds me of two felines on a street corner.I'm even more baffled at their avowals of love.

Despite this I still managed to extract some enjoyment from this miniature story as it was unbelievably good with emphasis on everything within it being UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

Back in Book 10 (All I Believe – Nico and Luca’s story), Andreo’s all macho and shit but who would have thought that this brick-wall of a gangster is such a softie when it comes to Connie? What a wonderful addition to the series! I’m very much excited to read Jessie’s story although I was a bit surprised that he’s not ending up with Zachary and the latter will have his own story! The more, the merrier yeah?

Hitman's Holiday features two characters we met in the previous book in the series, All I Believe: Andreo and Constantino (or Connie). We knew the pair had some kind of history, and here we get the whole story.

Told largely in flashback from Andreo's point of view, we see how the two met, and how they continued to meet up here and there over the years. Flash forward to the present, and they have both been invited to the same party, hosted in Nana Dombruso's own amazingly whacked-out and wonderful style. Clearly there will be fireworks, but what kind?

This short does well as a stand-alone, because even though Andreo knows a lot about Connie's family (names, occupations, etc.) he's never actually met them, so new readers can see them through his eyes, and by his first impressions. I especially loved seeing Andreo's reaction to the sight of Nana's San Francisco mansion, all decked out for the holidays. No spoilers, but Alexa's descriptions will have you laughing out loud!

Happy Holidays from the Dombruso family, and be sure you stop and enjoy one of Nana's festive cocktails before you leave!

The Hitman’s Holiday is a short story and somehow Land has made me happy. I ingested it in one day. In fact it had everything I normally avoid, short stories, flashbacks, quick resolutions and I still felt it’s a 4-Star read for me.
I thought the pacing worked.
I was not bent out of shape by the flashbacks.
I felt like the romance worked considering it is a short story.
The ending was fine. I could nitpick but that would kill the entire series so why bother.

This was a short quick read that was picked for me in a pick it for me challenge. Andreo and Constantino have been hooking up off and on for years. It’s Christmas Eve at Nana Dombruso’s house, and a wild party is in full swing. These two hook up at the party. I liked this book Andreo is in love with Connie he has been for years but Connie thinks he doesn't deserve love because he is a hitman. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.

Eh. It should have been longer? Gods, I hate being that person. I love that we got this snippet of Andreo and Constantino, but I truly think they deserve a whole book. The I-love-you would have hit harder if they'd spent more than something like 72 hours together over a decade.

(Originally Reviewed for Love Bytes Same Sex Book Reviews)

So…as any of you who read my reviews will know…I love everything Alexa. I’ve loved every single book she has published so far, both in this series and outside it. This lady can write. (Understatement).

In Hitman’s Holiday, we get back to the brothers of the two MC’s in All I Believe. The brothers are Nico’s brother Constantino (Tino), who is one of the world’s preeminent contact killers, and Luca’s brother Andreo (Dreo), who is an antiques dealer…who just happens to carry a Glock.

We met both of these guys during the events in All I Believe, and I was so hoping they would get their story told. I think it was a little bit of a cheat Ms. Land to only give them a short story for Christmas, but hey, we’ll take whatever we can get!

We knew from the previous book that there was something between these two because they kissed each other when Tino came to Tahiti to carry out a hit on both Nico and Luca which had been ordered by Tino and Nico’s uncle Jerry Dombruso. The hit had been called for their bringing shame on the family, since Nico and Luca’s families have been involved in a mafia “war” for generations.

Well, that story ended happy, and this one did too. No more spoilers. I’m recommending that you hit “one click” right now to pick the story up and see how the guys have a Merry Christmas! One more word about it…it left me going awwww.

This story is part of the Firsts and Forever series and I, and many of you, have read them all. If you are not already part of the Alexa Land Fan Club, you could probably easily read this as a standalone if you wanted to, but I still recommend you read the entire series! You will thank me when you do!

Ohhhh, almost forgot. Make sure you go all the way to the end on this one. There are some pretty shady sounding drink recipes after you go past that page that says “The End”! I would personally like to walk into a bar and order a “Santa’s Slippery Schlong”…but try saying that out loud…bet you can’t…lmfao.

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

Quickly following on from All I Believe this is the first short in the Firsts and Forever Series and is sexy and fun with all the crazy you would expect from the Dombruso family.

Alexa has built up this iconic family ever since we first met them in Way Off Plan and in this book and the previous one we have learnt a little more about their history. This history has had a lot of influence on how Connie and Andreo’s relationship has grown and the story is told in both present day and flashbacks.

It amazes me that anyone in this family can have a secret but Connie managed it until recently. When faced with the man that haunts his dreams targeting his brother as well as himself things could have got awry fast. Feelings were awoken though and instead of awry they are about to get hot!

This quick peek back into their lives happens at one of Nana’s Christmas parties – I don’t have to say anymore right? Let your imagination run wild and you will still be nowhere near the reality that is Nana in full party mode! Andreo and Connie are once again drawn to each other but it feels different this time as they don’t want to let go.

This is quick and sweet but doesn’t feel finished. I hope we see more of this pair later in the series.

I don't usually read books this short because I feel like the story is incomplete. I didn't feel that way with this one. It's short but I feel like I got enough of the backstory between the characters to be able to follow it. I do hope to see more of these two MC's in future Firsts and Forever novels. I want to see the characters grow and I hope to see more revealed about a tragic thing that happened to one of the MC's when he was younger if it is still relevant to the overall series (i.e. if the wrongdoer is someone that we have met or will meet in the series). I am all about bad people getting a slice of justice and if it happens to be served up Nana, Vincent or Dante style? Well, that's even better. :) I hope you give this short a read and enjoy it as much as I did. When an author can make you laugh, cry and fan yourself from the scorching scenes all in less than 100 pages, that's the mark of a great storyteller in my opinion.

I loved every second of this wonderfully written holiday novella. I only wish it were a full length novel. Nana and her crew showed up in nana style, bringing humor and crazy to a whole new level. There was a lot of hilariously funny lines that keep me laughing out loud well into the next chapter. The knife fight that's all I'm gonna say. Then there were those sweet gentle moments so conflicting with the title that tugged at my heart. She definitely knows how to writes the sexy man on man time. It's all so Alexa Land. You keep raising the bar Alexa. I'm gonna need a new grading scale for you. This was a 5++ for me. I hope we get to see a lot more of Andreo and Connie in upcoming books. Highly recommend.

Perfect little Christmas cracker! Loved hearing Dreo's story. His and Connie's entangled past is all revealed and we get to know two more wonderfully engaging characters int his series. Nana is there spreading her mad rainbow love everywhere and all our boys pop up in the background, but this really is a beautiful account of two hearts that were meant to be together. These men are not perfect yet surely they deserve a some love in their lives. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this short, sweet and sexy story.

Ain't Nothing Like A Dombrusco Party

This is a quick hot Christmas story. He has a serious thing for Connie Dombrusco. And Connie has a serious thing about getting away from him after their one night stands. This is going to take some tenacity for him to stop him from running. Because he doesn't believe anyone can love him. You can't help but enjoy a story with Nana in it. Enjoy I did.

Loved the book. As always Alexa manages to make complex and complicated characters that are intriguing and sympathetic. As always the supporting cast is wonderful and Nana especially is so much fun to be around. The most dangerous Dombruso indeed. Alexa is an auto read for me. Enjoy the story. Short and very sweet.

Love a gay reindeer

This was a cute, funny Christmas story. There were the usual OTT moments with Nana, the shenanigator (new word I learned from FB!). There was a glimpse of a few of our favorite past couples. There was a HFN for a couple of peripheral characters, Dreo/Andreo/Andy and Connie/Constantine. Fun!
