Magic has destroyed Daniel Cross’s family and now his only chance at happiness when he discovers the boy he’s in love with has a conduit dragon inside him. Already keeping his distance because of the young man’s murderous father, Daniel’s beast has started to roar, demanding that Mason be claimed before competition arrives. Daniel is so determined to keep from being a beast, he chooses to exile from the magical world completely.

Mason Blackthorne will not be ignored. Unless he can find someone powerful enough to protect him, he will be enslaved, tortured and used by terrible warlocks to possess his power. He’s chosen Daniel, and if he can get the boy close enough, he knows he can convince him to be his bondmate.

A powerful suitor has come to court Mason, but the mysterious man holds evil, blood soaked intentions. Can Daniel find a way to put the obligations of the dead behind him long enough to save Mason, or will his quest for revenge lose the only boy he's ever loved to the same monster that killed his family?

18+ This novel contains explicit m/m sexual content, graphic language and violence. The shifters transform from human to humanoid with respective dragon and lion characteristics and behaviors, including mating and breeding (but not impregnation), bonding, and some minor blood play. Any violence inflicted on the main characters is not sexual in nature.

Bad writing, HATEFUL family-relationships and one of the MCs (Mason, I believe) is such a freaking idiot, I was fucking baffled.
Why on earth, he would be holding on to his disgusting family, will be a mystery I will never solve, since I will not be reading anymore of this series.
This book left a horrible taste in my mouth and it was not just the disgusting family-shit, but also the sex at totally inappropriate and RIDICULOUS times (here the train-scene comes to mind!) that helped me make this decision.

In accordance with my reviews of this author's other works, here follows a count of the repetition of words (as is common for this author) and they are:
'Boy': 100 times
'The blond': 100 times
'The brunette': 100 times
(Seriously was this planned? No way, this is a coincidence, but it does speak to the so-called abilities of this author.)

If nothing else she is consistent in the 3 books I have read, but the lack of imagination is sad and if you've read one of her books, you have read them all.
The only thing changing from book to book is the amount of sex and how incestuous it is.

*Reviews of this author's works are being flagged so I have broadened my explanation for my rating in accordance with the guidelines for reviews here at GR.

There's a party in my pants. *Ahem* Well, there WAS. Haha, Sadie Sins is my go to for MM smut. Suspend belief and be prepared for things to get squishy.

Only real complaint.....phrases like "the boy", "the blonde" or "the brunette" were wayyyyyy too repetitious. By the first 100 times we get who the blonde or the brunette is. And use of "the boy" is kind of squicky when they are both of age in their world. Other than that.... the party in the pants thanks you :)

This is just straight-up Harry Potter fanfiction. It's not even subtle other than the changed names and some choice terms being called differently.

Like most fanfiction, it's very well stocked in the smut, UST, sex in inappropriate situations, slow burn and people-being-called-by-their-haircolour departments while severly lacking in reasonable pacing.
It's also in the need of some editing overall, but still an easy read that makes time pass quickly.

(Btw, it's Drarry)

Just a short review for this one, cuz I really feel like it failed to live up to the promise that the first 25% of the book showed. I am giving the book 4 stars for the first and the last 25%, but only 2 stars for the middle 50%. That averages out to 3 stars overall. It just felt like the middle of the book could have been cut by 2/3 and it would have made for a much much better read. There was just way way to much of the two MCs acting like idiots and /or spoiled brats.

Great story! I loved Mason and Daniel! Mason was very funny and I really felt for him. Daniel was very stubborn and it took a while for him to give in to his love for Mason. The sex scenes were very hot and the Villain was very evil. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series.

Suspenseful, sexy (really seriously smutty sexy) and I might just be in love with Mason Blackthorne after this. That boy knows how to get what he wants and has no shame. XD Wasn't sure how I'd feel about the shifters doing a half transfomation thing. Turned out all man with a lot of sexual aggression. Would totally read a sequel.

Oh how I loved this book. Harry Potter meets M/M paranormal erotica. It was everything... Hot, twisted, dark, sweet, funny, and scary in spots. The beasts were amazingly vivid. I now must read every book Sadie has written!

Enjoyed the world building. Daniel and Mason were interesting characters and I enjoyed the tension between them. The love hate relationship added a lot of spice to the story but it did get a bit repetitive. Mason's parents were pretty damn shitty. Well Daniel's family came pretty close too. Their family life was quite dysfunctional it made me a bit sad.

I was given an ebook copy of this story by the author and I thought I would give an ARC review of it. I found it really entertaining with Mason and Daniel the main characters. Daniel is a master wizard with great power, but has a dangerous beast inside him that he is terrified to let out. If that means he has to give up the man he is attracted to and his wizarding career, he is willing to do it. Mason is wizard that just recently had his dragon come awake and now his eyes are set on Daniel...or the always were, but now it is stronger and his dragon is calling for his mate. Daniels beast is also fighting to get out his his mate. The two men struggle with each other with both snarling and causing problems for the other, Mason especially trying to get Daniel's attention Mason's parents put him in grave danger when they declare that Mason's dragon makes him a conduit for magic and now he is in danger of being kidnapped and used for his magic. The book is full of angst, sexual release is finally achieved and an HEA is reached.
Good story.

Writing is good. Ms Sins has been getting better since I have started reading her works.

Writing is so good that one is willing to forgive both the very heavy Potter-series-inspiration (the MC has lost his whole family to evil magicians; the academy where he studies is to be reached with a train... yes, A T.R.A.I.N., etc. etc.) and the hyperbolic imagery when it comes to the too long and too frequent sex scenes.

There are limits, though, as to what one is willing to put up with.
I am trying to avoid spoilers here, but there is a scene where people get attacked and many, many of them get seriously hurt. The MC defends his love interest, at first, and that is perfectly fine. As soon as he makes sure said love interest is safe, what does the MC do? He has sex with him. He does not help all the people lying injured and suffering nearby. He has sex. And the author regales us with another lengthy sex scene to prove to us how raw is the passion the MC feels for his lover.

No.
I threw -figuratively- my Kindle against the wall and stopped reading. Good writing is useless if an author does not know what to do with it and, if this work has so many plot issues so early in the storyline, what will have happened by the time we read the second instalment?

damn this book is hot!!!!

i couldn't stop reading it, i went to sleep at 4 a.m. and in the morning i just grabbed my book and continued.

it's fascinating it's amazing and even though it's not seems too from the blurb, but has a lot of hot sex in it!!!

Daniel lost all his family, he is all alone in the world with a beast inside of him whom Daniel caged long time ago. He knows all the dangers of submitting to his inner beast, and he has one of the most dangerous of all. But all his struggles to contain his beast is just that, struggle, because when he is around Mason there is no cage that can stop the King to not claim or try to claim his mate.

Mason can't resist power. The more the other has the merrier. He choose Daniel as his protector but it seems that the boy is immune to all his dragon charm! And ohh God does he has ! He is horny, all the time and he know that Daniel wants him too ... if he just stop to be so damn stubborn!

You'll read about suitors, a bit of dub-con, power exchange (sexual also), dragon profanity, lion stubbornness and sweet sweet romance.

****I would like to thank the author for the privilege and opportunity of reading this ARC. My review is an honest opinion of the book****

Blackthorn
Daniel just has to finish out the last day of his Senior year classes at the magic academy and then he can get away from his secret crush and all the attention that he gets from recently being identified as an Elite. Mason is also ready to be away from the Academy and most of all away from Daniel who has only chased away every other guy paying attention to Mason. But Mason has just found out that he’s a conduit and needs only the strongest to protect him. These two prove that not only do opposites attract, but that there’s a thin line between love and hate. While both have only tried to push each other away, what they’re really trying to do is cover their massive attraction for one another. Honestly in the early chapters I didn’t know if I’d end up liking this book. It was hard to get in to at first because there seems to be a huge back story that is difficult to understand for a book 1 in a new series. But after a couple chapters and a better grasp of what was going on, I was hooked. The scenes are very descriptive, storyline is interesting and the sex was HOT. This book reminded me very much of an X-rated, adult version of Harry Potter.I rate this book 5 Hearts.

Long Harry Potter fanfic. I got tired of the constant push-pull between Daniel and Mason. Daniel's inability to feel and express love was explained too late at the very end. For all of the contact and sex that the two MCs had, their relationship remained shallow, with very little intimacy and affection. I was left unsatisfied that Mason's parents did not get their comeuppance.

Demon Arms is similar. On KU.

Maybe if you want Harry Potter fanfic, and editing errors. Not for me, such a shame as it sounded promising.

SS really knows how to write smut, they are all so filthy and intense and HOT, in spite of her overuse of words like "blond", "cerulean", "brunette" and "fucking" (not as a verb). It is a sort of love/hate thing except it isn't, they both are just playing hard to get.

But my, how annoying their "hard to get" was! If it wasn't Daniel refusing to bond but still scaring all the suitors, and Mason trying to get into his pants but getting frustrated, to the point of gladly accepting the sexual services of his older suitor, and the villain of the story, twice.

People say this is a Drarry fanfic sort of but I couldn't see it. Yes, there is a school of magic and wands and train to get there, and the friends of Daniel are a couple... and there is Poison class, but that's it. Is Payne supposed to be Voldemort? I can't imagine Voldemort giving Draco a bj, fgs 🤮

The whole bonding stretch out forever even though both Daniel & Mason were crazy for each other. It made ME crazy.

Found this book again after reading it 3 years ago and still no book 2... :( I am really looking forward to a book 2 because I enjoyed Daniel and Mason characters from the anguish, to sexual tensions, to the anger, to more anguish, to love and then some more sex, and did I mention the sexual tension and steamy sec scenes lol... Really hoping a Book 2 exploring these characters is still in the making.

Not for me I'm afraid. Too much repetition in the smut scenes and no plausible reason why they did not bond earlier.Could have saved half of the book and of course the end is sooo predictable.

*I voluntarily read this book. All opinion stated are solely my own and no one else's"

I really enjoyed this book; it was scorching hot, fun, sexy and had lots of suspense.

I struggled to get into the book; it was slow paced and long winded but halfway through it did pick up.

I loved the characters but they also got on my nerves- Daniel's hot/cold behaviour was really annoying. Daniel and Mason had smoking hot chemistry; it was raw, passionate yet consuming. I enjoyed the bantering and teasing between the two - it definitely made things more fun and entertaining.

I actually can't really place a star rating for this book that I'm totally comfortable with.
It's a long book....possibly too long as it seemed to ramble a lot for the first 60% or so and I just wanted to throat punch Daniel AND Mason most of the time.
As another reviewer pointed out it does have a lot of Harry Potter type elements but Sadie does put her own twist on things.
It was only the fact that I forgot I had bought this book months ago and then asked to review it recently that pushed me to finish this story at all. I probably would have DNF'd the book at around the 25% mark as it was frustrating me that nothing seemed to really be happening. Even as I struggled through to the 75% mark I wasn't really thinking very fondly of the book. It is definitely the last 25% that I enjoyed and would possibly have given a 4 or 5 star rating if it wasn't for the frustration of the first 75%.

I feel like a minority reading this book. I didn't really like it.
There were too many events with unexplained details, and too frequent smut scenes that were too long and overshadowed the plot line.
I felt that the premise was good, yet the execution could be improved. Many times I found myself baffled at the grammar or spelling. I personally can overlook these errors, but to others - this may definitely lower the reading value even further. However, it was still an enjoyable read.

**4 stars**

I really liked this story. It was imaginative and had a lot of elements that really came together.
Very few spelling errors, however this book would be a bit better if it was cleaned up a little. It was very wordy and would flow better if some redundancy was taken care of.
Overall, very surprised and pleased with this author.

What to say?

- story plot reminds me of Harry Potter books,
- we have to much sex scenes and to little of actually story,
- there are few history events which are not explained to satisfy.

But even so it was okay reading material.

11.6.2016 - 3,5*
A lehký HP vibe. :D
