New Oxford University Press, 1977. Hardbound, 8.5 inches tall, 227 pages. Notes, bibliography, index. A few black and white illustrations. "Was there really a Marshall Matt Dillon -- and if so, what was he like? The millions of fans of Gunsmoke, as well as the many readers who have found in Odie Faulk's previous books a happy blend of the excitement of Western fiction and historical accuracy, will eagerly search for the answer in Dodge City. Here Faulk does for Dodge City what he did for another legendary town in Myth and Reality."

ne wonders why this was published by Oxford, but it is more analytical than most local histories and does contain a lot of interesting anecdotes.
