What is sexier than a very sexy man in a uniform? That would be a very sexy man in a uniform with his Golden Retriever by his side. That is Eric Maguire. Eric is single but is not in the market for hook ups or one night stands. He is the Chief of Police in Hope Falls and is ready to settle down. His parents have been married for 40 years and are still madly in love and he wants the same thing for himself.

Lily Sotelo has just been offered the job of a lifetime. She has been hired to be the choreographer for the famous pop star Karina Black. She will have to move to Hope Falls for several months while rehearsing for the tour. But, Lily is definitely not looking for a permanent relationship. Yes, she is lonely and when she sees other couples together she wishes she could have that for herself. But, Lily has secrets. There is a reason she never lets anyone get too close and why she never stays in one place for very long.

When she finds the house of her dreams, though, and realizes that her next door neighbor is the sexy Chief of Police, Eric, her defenses are put to the test. And, even more than that, Lily has fallen in love with Eric’s beautiful and lovable dog, Shadow. When Eric and Lily are together, there is some very serious chemistry. But, while Eric thinks that Lily might be “the one,” Lily knows she can’t stay. That it is only a matter of time until her past catches up with her.

“The more time she spent with Eric, the more she wasn’t sure if it had to be temporary. What if she did come back here after the tour? Maybe this really was her clean slate. She could just be Lily. No past. Just future.”

Can Eric break through Lily’s defenses and convince her to trust him? Can Lily let go of her past and actually let herself believe that she might have a future here? This is a really sweet story about a woman that though she has had the worst possible childhood, has been abused, hurt and hunted her entire life, she is still a strong, confident woman capable of great love. And of a man that has finally found the woman he has always been looking for, but first, he has to save her from her past.

Note: This book does have some mature content so is for appropriate readers only.

Chief of police Eric Maguire is tired of casual hook-ups and meaningless affairs, he wants something more substantial and enduring. When the mysterious dark-haired beauty he met not too long ago moves in next door, Eric knows he’s found exactly what he’s been missing. Now to get Lily to trust him.

Lily Sotelo has spent her adult life always on the move, never letting anyone get too close. When Lily gets the break of a lifetime choreographing for pop star Karina Black’s winter tour, she finds herself at Hope Falls, experiencing a sense of belonging and safety she's never felt before. But her stay at Hope Falls is meant to be anything but permanent. The spark between her and Eric is one Lily didn't expect, but he's a temptation she cant deny, now if she can stop herself from yearning for things she feels she cannot have.

Happily suprised by this story, was meant to read a little before bed and the next thing I know I'd finished it, and it's past 1am.

Perfect blend of small town charm and romance, the heat between Lily and Eric sizzles off the page wonderfully. Add in a adorable dog and you have a fab read. I've finished this smiling.

I finished it anyways. It turns out, it's a typical chic lit, predictable sweet read.
If you are up for that. I know I'm not. It's not enough challenging or mind puzzling.

Characters are shallowly described, also I hated the "famous" factor of Lily's boss, Karina.

Eric was hot and protective. But, that's all.

And,I hate when I can re-tell a story in... 10 sentences.

Bright spots were Great dane eating ice cream and getting lost
great dane gif
and especially retriever Shadow, loving and caring, but who failed numerous times on obedience test.♥ Love dogs!
golden retriever kiss gif

P.S. The title has nothing to do with the story, besides that it's snowing. No other reference connecting the snow and the couple.

It was... ok. Way too much time spent in the narrative and dialogue gushing repetitively about how gorgeous the heroine is--we get it after the first 3 times--and too little time spent fleshing out the characters and developing the relationship.

I really enjoyed this book. If you are a dog lover, I think you will love this book too. Shadow Stoll my heart in this story. Lily was bounced around as a child from foster home to home. When she witnessed a crime she was placed in the Witness protection program. After the threat to her life was over, the program released her. Lily was excited to start her life over in a small town. She was a dance instructor, and also danced with Karina who was a pop star. There was instant chemistry between Eric and Lily. Eric was the town sheriff, and also Lily's neighbor. When Eric came over to visit his new neighbor he had his dog shadow with him. Shadow took to Lily and didn't want to leave her. Throughout the story Shadow would often spend the night at Lily's house. Eric thought his dog was one lucky guy. Eric and Lily didn't want to "Date", but they couldn't ignore the sizzling attraction that was going on. Some of the things they shared on their non dates will have you fanning yourself. This was a really sweet book.

This one started out really good, got a little better, then dragged along until the very end when it was all over really fast. I would have liked a little more when everything came out at the end, but perhaps the next book in the series will continue on that path. Lily was a good, strong, female character, but I would have liked to go a little deeper with her an Eric...well I could have used more of him too!!

This is the first book I've read in the Hope Falls series (I don't know why I started in the middle.. Don't ask me) but what an awesome book!! It made me want to go and buy all of the other books in the series!!! So I'm very excited about that.

Eric and Lily were so freaking cute together. Oh my word!! You know there are some massive secrets Lily is keeping, but really don't know too what extent; however, being who Eric is you know he's going to figure it out somehow. Can a new "no-dating" relationship survive secrets so severe? You need to read this book to get your answers. And to meet these awesome characters!! I promise you'll love then all.

I love this series

Eric is the new Chief of Police. Lily is a dancer with a scary dark past. Can she really choreograph Karina's tour, and then leave Eric for good?
This book was a bit more intense than the others in the series, but I loved the characters and how no one is ever considered a stranger in this town. I also fell in love with Shadow, just like Lily did. You really need to read this series!

This was a pretty good book. I loved the characters and their personalities. There were emotions, humor, good dialog, a drop of suspense, this was written well and a great HEA. I definitely want to read more in this series and will be keeping an eye out. Enjoy!

Slow burn

Fantastic characters, especially loved Shadow. The story was a page turner, particularly as there were numerous hints about Lily’s background. Great that she gets to live a more typical life and have a future.

Eric is starting to get tired of one-night-stands and is looking to settle down. He has watched his friends slowly find their soul mates and fall in love and he wants that. He just doesn't know if he will ever find it.....until Lily.

Lily has had many names and moved many times over her life since she was three years old and her mom died. She was placed in WITSEC for a portion of her life and two years ago she was let go. She was asked to come and teach a dance for Amanda and her bridesmaids. While she was there Karina asked her if she would choreograph her winter tour. Lily agreed and moved to Hope Falls. When she was at the wedding she danced with the super hot Eric and had to leave early because of the feelings he made her feel.

When she moved to Hope Falls and Lauren had taken her to show her houses to rent she didn't like any of the ones she was showing her and was beginning to wonder if she would just have to make do with the apartment above Sue Anne's. Then Lauren doing what she does best notices what the person doesn't like and took her to a place that she thought would be perfect. When they pulled up Lily noticed there were other houses near by and the house looked cute. When Lauren told her about the office space out back that could be a studio and the fact that she is living right next door to the newly appointed Chief of Police Lily was sold. Little did she know that the new Police Chief was the very hot Eric.

They spent time getting to know one another. Well, as much as Lily was willing to share, but they did have a physical relationship. She said she was not going to be here after the tour so no need to start a relationship. But, Eric saw it differently. He wanted the physical but he wanted more and he just hoped that over time he could get her to see that she did too.

He was pretty convinced that she was feeling the same until one day when she gets a phone call that brings everything in the past right in the present. Someone had found her and she had to leave.

Eric had to run a background check on Lily for her landlord because he was not happy with what he was finding which was nothing after two years. When Eric's search turned up the same he called in a favor to a buddy in the FBI. What Eric found turned his blood cold when he realized the night before he pulled over the son of the man Lily helped put away.

Will Lily get out without anyone finding out who she is?

Will Eric get to Lily in time to save her and protect her from the guy after her?

Those are things you will have to read to find out.

Thanks for the review, and this book is well worth the read.

Until Next Time: Happy Reading.

Snow Angel is a great example of why I usually give books a chance even if I don't love them right away. I read the first ten pages or so and just thought nope. Not the book for me. I did not like the way it was written so I was just going to put it aside never to be finished before I got to the point of no return (not sure when that is, but once I invest so much time into a book, a couple chapters, then I have to finish it). Well we were traveling a bit so I used it as a good book to read for that. One that I wouldn't get sucked into the story and end up staying up way too late because I needed to finish it. I thought it would probably be alright, but I wouldn't love it. Well I was quickly proved wrong. After the not so good start I really got into the story and by the end I was loving it and didn't want it to end. I'm so glad I stuck with this book and didn't just toss it aside right away.

Lily is so sweet. She has never really had a permanent home. She has been constantly moving around and watching her back. She doesn't feel safe staying in one spot because of something that happened when she was younger. She is frightened and doesn't really have any friends or family or any real connections to other people. It is kind of heartbreaking as she seems like such a sweetheart, but until now she has just never let anyone get too close.

Eric was a player, but lately he has not been happy with his old ways. He wants something real, someone he can spend his time with and really be with. When he first meets Lily he knows that she is something special. She seems to like him as well, but he knows he has to proceed carefully. She is skittish and gets scared away easily. He slowly starts falling for her and is so sweet and perfect with her it is just amazing. He never pushes her to open up about her past or anything. He just lets her open up to him on her time, when she is ready to let him in. They were really amazing together. You can see Lily trying to figure out how to do this, how to have a real relationship, and how she might be able to settle down and stop running. She is amazing with everyone and the whole town just loves her. She has to get used to that small town everyone knows everything about everyone else thing, but she starts to make a life for herself. And Eric is a large part of that.

Things progress and there are some bumps in the road and towards the end it gets a bit hairy, but oh it was great. I loved Eric and Lily and them together and watching their relationship grow and get through all the tough times. It was not love at first sight and you could really see them falling for each other. I really loved this book. I will have to check out more from this author as this story was just so good.

Snow Angel is book 5 of the Hope Falls novels by Melanie Shawn. It is a really good book that is easy to read and in a couple of hours can be finished. The characters are well developed and the plot is interesting. You definitely don’t see some of the events coming. Shadow, Eric’s dog, provides some comic relief as well as some comfort.
Lily Sotelo has come to Hope Falls to be the choreographer for pop star Karina Black. Lily had come to Hope Falls for the wedding of Amanda Jones and Justin Barnes and had come to the attention of Karina who had offered her the job as choreographer for her winter tour. Lily had returned to Sacramento, resigned from her two jobs, packed up her apartment and returned to Hope Falls. This was her chance to make it big and she hoped she would be up to the task. Upon her arrival in Hope Falls, she felt safe and calm for the first time in a long time. Maybe this would work out for the six months she planned on staying. It was a small town where everyone knew your business; but she was sure she could handle it. Things were even better when she rented a small house that had a room in the back which was perfect for a studio where she would work out her routines. It had the added attraction of being next door to the Chief of Police. Maybe she would be safe here.
Eric Maguire, was the new Chief of Police for Hope Falls. He realized the night he went with his brother Jake to JT”s Roadhouse that he no longer was interested in one night stands or even picking up girls. He wanted what his parents had, a loving marriage. He knew he wanted someone like the dark-haired girl he danced with at Amanda and Justin’s wedding. He didn’t know who she was or where she was; but he knew he wanted the feelings she brought to him. When he pulled into his drive that night and heard a sound from next door, he did what his Mother would expect him to do, he went over to offer his help with the unloading. He knew the person was moving in because he had been keeping an eye on the Judge’s house for him. He knew Lauren had rented it that day. Little did he know that she had rented it to the dark-haired girl he had danced with and who was on his mind.
What secrets is Lily keeping? What will come of the sparks that fly when she and Eric are together? Will she be able to fulfill her contract with Karina? Is there danger in Hope Falls?

This book was free a short while back on Amazon so I downloaded it but just now got around to reading it. Before that I hadn’t heard about the series but I will tell you that I’ll be purchasing the other books because it looks to one of those series that you can revisit past characters while meeting new ones.

Eric Maguire is tired of the one night hook ups and is ready to settle down. He can’t stop thinking about the girl that he danced with a friend’s wedding the week before and now sees things with a different perspective. He was recently promoted to Police Chief in Hope Falls and now is looking towards the future.

Lily Sotelo has had a really rough life but she’s beaten the odds even though they always seemed to be against her, she’s been running and hiding for ten years now, since she was sixteen years old. When she went to Hope Falls to attend a friend’s wedding, she had no idea that it would be a life altering experience but now just one week later, she’s packed and leaving Sacramento to take on the job of being the personal choreographer of Karina Black who resides in Hope Falls and has become a mega pop star sensation. Living in a small town isn’t as easy as she thought it would be though. Everyone knows everyone else’s business and asks questions that she can’t answer but for the first time in her life has found that she kind of wants to. Her growing attraction to her new next door neighbor Eric doesn’t help because it finds her wanting things that she can’t possibly have, like a normal life.

When the past catches up to and finds Lily it’s a race again time to get to her before it’s too late.

This is a great book and the characters are very genuine and easy to like but I will have to say that Shadow, Eric’s dog really stole the show in this book. If I could find a dog like this, I wouldn’t be so against having one, just don’t my kids that though because I’d deny it. ;)

Lily Sotelo has been running and hiding for ten years since she was sixteen years old. When attending a wedding of one of her only few friends in Hope Falls, she had no idea that it would be a life altering experience. Lily is leaving Sacramento and moving to Hope Falls to start her new job as a personal choreographer of Karina Black, mega pop star. Lily has come to realize that living in a small town everyone knows everyone else's business.

Eric Maguire is the eldest of his family and is tired of the one night hook ups. He can't stop thinking about the girl that he danced with a friend's wedding and now sees things with a differently and wants to settle down. He was recently promoted from detective to Police Chief in Hope Falls. When he return home from his shift, he see his new neighbor moving in and goes to help with a box too big for them to handle. Once he disposes of the box for his new neighbor in the house, only brings him face to face with the very female that has been invading his dreams since the wedding.

As their encounters with each other start to come for frequently, Lily and Eric find that they cannot deny the attraction they have for one another. Eric starts to wonder what the story is about Lily and Lily only dreams to have a normal life. Eric’s dog Shadow has taken to Lily and is so protective of her.

When Lily’s past catches up to her and her life is in danger, it's a race of time to get to her before it's too late.

I enjoyed this book and looking forward to reading more about the other characters which Melanie Shawn has shown in this series.

How did I miss reading this series? I've read the Cross Road Series and Someday Series, which I loved loved. I got this as a free book via Nook and also available for Kindle as well. Again, how did I not ready this series beforehand?! I started with book #5 so now I need to back track and read them in order to appreciate everyone's back story more. You don't have to read them in order but I'm just OCD about that. Downloading the series as we speak. This is fun a series with so many lovable characters and town so charming I wish it was real. I highly recommend this series. Totally a fun and hot read while sipping some wine!

This is about sexy hot as sin Eric Maguire chief of police of a small town called Hope Falls. Whom happens to have a dog named Shadow who acts like Lassie. He meets his new neighbor Lily Sotelo who happens to be gorgeous dancer/choreographer. Funny thing is they have met before at mutual friends wedding. Were they shared a dance that had so much chemistry that had Lily running for the hills. Eric hasn't been able to stop thinking about her since that dance and now she's going to be his neighbor. Lily's heart skips a beat when she sees Eric but she can't get to close. Her time as Hope Falls is limited due to her past. She's been on the run for so long staying at Hope Falls seems like a dream. Will Lily finally find a permanent home in Hope Falls and with Eric? Will Eric get her trust and love?

Lily had a past that she did not want to relive. After her mother dieing when she was just three years old, it left her alone. After being put through the system many times, she was brave enough to venture out on her own. But not before witnessing a murder. And for that sake, in order for her to remain safe she was placed in the witness protection program. She had many identities and many places she lived. She could not stay the same person or in the same place for long. That is before she was offered a job of her lifetime choreographing for the famous Karina Black. She moved to Hope Falls with the intention of only staying there until after the tour. She found a nice quiet neighborhood with a rent house that had everything she wanted and needed including a studio for practice. It wasn't long before she found out who her neighbor was, the sexy, newly appointed police chief Eric McGuire. They had instant chemistry. And they both knew it. After each giving in, they decided to "not date" which meant they were together alot. Not to mention, Shadow, Eric's dog, was instantly attached to Lily. After doing research, Eric learned of Lily' s past. Having a bad feeling, he went to find her, only to find something he was not expecting. After shadow saving her, they both admitted their love for one another. Eric vowed she would never feel unsafe again. A real touching story!

Stand alone in a series
Dual povs

Cute with great chemistry between Eric and Lily and enough suspense to keep me going.

It dragged in places probably because I grew up in a small town so I knew the dynamics already and I was impatient to get to Lily's secret. For all she'd been through Lily was almost too perfect, too nice. Shadow, the dog was a nice touch too oh and the dancing.

Nice read.
Minimal sex scenes but lots of sexual tension - yummy.

Soooo cute! Another great book by Melanie Shawn. Seriously, these books are so romantically sweet, they just make you want to dream!

Snow Angel is another great love story that is quick and easy to read and enjoy, and makes you completely fall in love with the town and all the characters... If Hope Falls really did exists, I´d move there in a heartbeat!

The chemistry between Eric and Lily is sweet and intense at the same time, and you totally get that hero vibe from Eric, I love it! And the scene where she is practicing burlesque... can you say HOT!?

Lily of course is immediately accepted in the Book club, thought isn´t exactly clear how Amanda knows Lily well enough to invite her to her wedding... but it´s a minor detail. *

I love how the ´bad guy´ drama is over and done with in a quick few pages, so you´re not suffering for long and quickly get sucked back into the love <3

*Edited 8th Jan 201: note to self; read books in order! In the novella, One Sweet Day, it´s explained who Lily is and why she is in Hope Falls!

***The author kindly gave me an ARC of this book. Although they did not ask for a review, I wanted to give one and say THANK YOU.***

***MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS***

Eric Maquire has recently been appointed the Police Chief. He's got a nice house, hot tub, and a dog. Sick of casual hook ups, Eric's eye catches the new girl in town.

Lily is new in town with a past that she'd rather have stay buried and hence why she never stays in one place for too long. She comes to town to choreograph Karina Black's winter tour. She ends up renting the house next door to Eric.

What happens when they both agree to an exclusive friends with benefits relationship and someone from her past comes to threaten her present and future? Does Lily leave the community she has come to adore? Does Eric let her go? Meh... I'd read this one if I were you.

I fell in love with Hope Falls when I read Let It Snow (book 8). This is book 5. And like Let it Snow, I feel that it can be read as a stand alone.

This is such a wonderful weekend read.

Lily moves to Hope Falls after being offered the career break of a lifetime. For once, everything in her life seems to be falling into place.

Everyone in the town has been so welcoming and kind towards her. She has never felt so happy and safe. Safe is a feeling she never takes for granted after going through more trauma than the average person would experience in their whole lifetime.

Another bonus is that her new next door neighbour is the police chief Eric Maguire. Two important things you need to know about Eric, 1) he is freaking alpha male sexy hot 2) he has an adorable golden retriever called Shadow.

There is a huge attraction between Eric and Lily but she is wary of exploring it as she knows that her job is only temporary, and at any given moment she may also have to up sticks and leave.

I just loved the slow build of the chemistry between this couple, Eric is such a sweet, sexy guy. Shadow is so freaking cute, he often steals the show in this story.

I am definitely going to read more of this series!

If Lily's eyes had widened one more time I think her eyeballs would have fallen out of her head. Seriously, everytime someone said something to her, her eyes widened.

Lily is best described as a stunned mullet. If you're not familiar with that bit of Australian slang it means dazed and uncomprehending. Everytime she saw Eric she trembled, licked her lips and didn't say much. And whenever someone asked her about her past she froze and panicked. It was hard to tolerate all her mini freakouts when the author hadn't clued us in to what was so bad about her past. I think by Chapter 9 all we knew about her was that she'd been in foster care.

And Eric wanted someone hot and that's apparently what he got in Lily. Again and again we had to hear about how hot she was and her sexy hips and legs and blah blah blah.

Overall I found the book to be quite superficial and full of insignificant and almost juvenile details. The blurb pulled me in - who doesn't like a hot cop in a small town story - but it didn't deliver.

Eric is the newly appointed police chief of his hometown. Lily is a young woman, new to town, excited to start her new choreography job. She knows she won't live here long, due to the secrets from her past, but she can't help feeling at home. As events unfold, will Lily be able to make peace with her past or will her secrets destroy her chances of happiness?

Despite this being book five in a series, it is easily read as a stand-alone, since the author gives the backstory on the important characters. The main reason to read this book, is for the dog, Shadow. He is absolutely precious! The author repeats a lot of phrases, while the build-up of Lily's past takes up most of the book, only to be resolved in the final three chapters. It would have been nicer, if the ending wasn't so rushed, but overall it is a cute story.

Erik is the Hope Falls sheriff. Lily is new to town working as a choreographer for pop sensation and local resident Karina Black. Lily has a past, she's been released from the witness protection program, but the story takes forever to tell you why.

The story focuses on each of them staring at the other and saying how hot the other is and really bypasses any real action or conversation, except for about 10 pages near the end of the book. Each book in the series is a stand alone focusing on a new couple in town and I read book 14 Fire and Foreplay a few books back and couldn't put it down, but this one really felt lacking with that book still fresh in my mind. I'll still read a few more books to see which is the outlier.

Snow Angel by Melanie Shawn, book five of The Hope Falls Chronicles series.

Lily is on the run from her past and Eric is trying to make a future. Their mutual attraction sweeps them off their feet with their "no dating" encounters that will leave you breathless and wanting more!

The chemistry is off the charts H.O.T between Eric and Lily that will knock your socks off!

Strongly written characters and one adorable pooch named Shadow who completely steals the show!

The relationship between Eric and his family was really well written with so many laugh out loud moments between the siblings and their parents.

The Hope Falls Chronicles at it's best! Awesome 5 star plus read!

Even though Eric is the Chief of Police and can tell that something from Lily's past has scared her he lets her tell him in her own time. He is in the background providing security and support (along with his dog Shadow) all the time while realizing he's fallen in love with her quirky nature, sexy dance moves, and kind, generous heart. He feels so responsible when he realizes he had the person after her in his sights just a day before an attempt is made on her life. All's well that end's well! Another great read for this series from the sister duo Melanie Shawn! on to the next Hope Falls novel :)

Snow Angel

Lilly has lived her whole life since childhood moving from one place to another. She never makes friends, tells too much about herself, or puts down roots. Her latest move is from Sacramento to Hope Falls.
Lilly falls in love with the small town and it's people quickly. She also gets the hots for the hunky hometown Police Chief Eric.
You will simply fall in love with Hope Falls and Lilly and Eric's love story.
Snow Angel is a refreshing book about trusting, changes, and most of all love! Makes me want to move there and witness and be apart of this great place myself.
Kudos Melanie Shawn for such a bright, brilliant romance.
