Thirteen years ago…his world fell apart after his soul mate left him in the middle of an unforeseen tragedy that would bind them together forever. Ever since, sexy Fireman Jake Maguire busied himself by putting out fires in buildings and starting them in women, all in an attempt to extinguish the fire she set off in him all those years ago.
Thirteen years ago…she made the hardest decision of her life. For every tear, every heartache, Tessa Hayes reminded herself that she made that sacrifice out of love. Sweet, caring Tessa always put the interests of others before her own, no matter what the cost.
She sacrificed her heart for his life. He lived without living. Now they had the chance to mend their broken hearts together...but would Tessa and Jake have the courage to do it?
NEW YORK TIMES & USA TODAY bestselling author Melanie Shawn writes HEAs filled with sweet and sassy heroines, heroes who are cinnamon rolls in the streets alpho-holes in the sheets, casts of supportive *cough: meddling* friends and family who put the fun in funny, toe-curling combustible heat, and sugary sweet “aww” moments that will have your hearts and e-readers melting.
I really, really hate books where the woman dumps the guy because it's "what's best for him" and then clings to that stupid belief for years on end.
Tessa Hayes was madly in love with Jake Maguire when they were 17. After an etopoic pregnancy ends in a miscarriage (spoiler, but not really, since I saw it coming a million miles away!!), Tessa dumps Jake and runs away from Hope Falls, where she'd livde with her grandmother for the last year. She becomes a famous photojournalist, but has to give up her career when her grandmother develops dementia.
Jake has never gotten over the fact that Tessa dumped him and took off, never to be seen again. When she shows up in town after a 13 years absence, he is determined to ignore her and his heart. But, she keeps showing up and he can't resist the temptation she presents.
Tessa is back in town to settle her grandmother's affairs, which, to her dismay, includes a past-due mortgage and back taxes. She needs to stay to sell the house, which means she runs into Jake in a regular basis.
Of course, Jake and Tessa reconnect, but she still harbors this ridiculous notion that they can't be an item because she can't have kids and all Jake ever wanted was to be a father. Does she tell him? Of course not, not until about 20 pages to the end. Argh!! Stupidity reigns, which is why I can't give this more stars.

Let It Snow is a great second-chance love story. I love Jake. He's strong and brooding. He's harbored his feelings for Tessa since the day she left and fights his feelings for her from the minute she returns to town. I love his relationship with his family and friends - it's clear they would all do anything for each other.
Tessa is a bit of a hot mess in this story. It's like she can't catch her breath from the minute we meet her, crossing her legs while driving down the highway in search of a bathroom (who among us hasn't been there - I loved it). She's also fighting her feelings for Jake and has been since she left. It takes most of the extent of this story for the two of them to realize the decisions they made as children didn't have to be the same decisions they make as adults. It's a sweet story of broken hearts and second chances, first loves and last loves, and small towns that have a character of their own. Another great installment in the Hope Falls series.
I was all for this book until about 90% into it! Part of the plot was that Tessa had seen Jake two weeks after she left thirteen years ago, in his truck with another girl in "their spot." Now I thought that there would be some reasonable explanation -the other girl would have turned out to be Jake's sister or friend, or something! - but NO!!!! It turned out that Jake, who was absolutely in love with Tessa, had had sex with another girl THREE DAYS after she left!!!!!!! Who does that?!? →JERKS!!!! This was a nice romance until I read that page!!!! The book went downhill from there. This wasn't my only complaint about the book, but one of the major ones. I feel that the author could have gone into a lot more detail on somethings and less detail on others... ~December 23, 2015
Oh wow... I think this has been my favorite book in the series so far! Jake is just so, so intense!! and his relationship with Tessa... so hot!
I loved the little bit of mystery from the beginning, you´re dying to know why she left when they so obviously were crazy about one another and when you finally realize you dont know whether to scream at her or totally understand why she did it.
The only bit I did not like, was Jake´s previous ´manwhore´ status
I mean... being with another girl only 3 days after she left?? and he remembers who it was with... excuuuuuuuuuuse me?? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
- though I sort of grudgingly understand. Sort of. At least she wasnt a saint during their time apart and I loved to read how they both had matured yet their love remained....
And seriously, the way he loves her OMG! I so so want that, just the way he looks at her and... *sigh* The sex scenes are hot and sexy and there are a lot of funny moments (Eric teasing his brother is always fun!) - as usual, I wanted, no I neeeeeeeeeeeded so much more!! I want it alllllll
like, how is their wedding, and wedding night and will Jake and Tessa adopt?? They have to be parents, right? They just HAVE too!
I seriously hope that Melanie will write more books in the Hope Falls series (like for Matt´s sister and Levi and the new guys from basketball and anyone else single in that town... I need more books! :D)
Jake Maguire and Tessa Hayes were in love when they were 17 and planned to spend their lives together and raise a family. But after Tessa had a miscarriage and learned she couldn't have more children, she left the small town and Jake without telling him. She though it was the best thing she could do for him so he could find someone else to have a family with. She went to live with her grandmother and became a well known photojournalist. When her grandmother developed dementia she had to quit her job in order to look after her.
Jake had a hard time dealing with Tessa leaving him but tried to forget her with a lot of women. It didn't work. When Tessa came back to settle her grandmother's affairs after being away for 13 years, Jack tried to ignore her but they kept being thrown together.
I liked Jake a lot. He was a very strong man who was dealt a bad hand he didn't deserve. I felt so sorry for him because he had no idea why Tessa left him but he still loved her when she came back. I liked that he had a good supportive family. I didn't like Tessa much though. She did what she thought was best for Jake by leaving him but I kept thinking she should talk to him about it.
While this story didn't have a lot of action scenes, it was a nice second-chance romance with a good ending.
Thirteen years earlier Tessa had left Jake In Hope Falls. Now she was back and she thought she could handle it. The story gas so many sweet moments. Jake and Tessa are really a cute couple. They just need to communicate better. A very good read.
Tessa and Jake's story was perfect. Sure they had there up and downs but they worked everything out. It was sweet to see how much love they had for one another. Such an amazing book!
Jake Maguire (Fireman) was the self-proclaimed King of Casual Sex and Tessa Hayes.
Jake is described in Snow Angel by brother Eric as ‘having the attention span of a gnat and had already gotten distracted and laser-focused on two attractive brunettes that had just walked in. Eric sat back and watched as Jake approached the women, and their faces lit up at his brother’s fickle attention. Games—that’s all connections made in bars like these were. Which was great if both parties were playing with the same set of rules. No commitments, no promises, no regrets’.
Jake wasn’t interested in hooking up with ‘Miss Flash-A-Lot’s’ since he’d acquired the keys to his new home three months ago—the home he’d set his sights on at ten years old, the one he’d seen his first day as a paper boy—he hadn’t been “entertaining” as much as he normally did. Or at all. The truth was, he hadn’t brought a woman to his new home since Lauren, his realtor-slash-friend—who also happened to co-host Home Sweet Vacation Home, had placed those two keys in the palm of his hand. He’s trying to be a reformed womaniser.
Not having been back to Hope Falls in close to thirteen years, she’d been painfully shy, an army brat living a nomadic life.
At seventeen she discovered she was pregnant, it was an ectopic pregnancy. She was born with a congenital abnormality in my fallopian tubes. That would have made it difficult to conceive, however the miscarriage caused her fallopian tube to burst making it virtually impossible to conceive. She left because she couldn’t have children and Jake wanted children.
Jake had gotten down on his knees in the hospital room when she’d told him she was leaving and pled with her to stay. He’d told her he would go with her. That he would do anything to be with her. She’d looked him right in the eye and told him to leave, to get out of her room. Screamed it, actually. He’d returned the next day but she had already been discharged. Tessa had gone. He’d gotten black-out drunk almost every night the first year of college just trying to forget her. They might have been engaged, she might have left, in shock but three days after she’d left he was having sex with someone else.
“When I left, I willingly chose a broken heart because I truly believed it was the only way that you could have a whole life, a life you deserved…deserve to have. I sacrificed everything I ever wanted so you could have everything you ever wanted.
“Then be with me. Stay in Hope Falls. Marry me. We’ll figure everything else out. It’s is that simple. Nothing else matters. You are everything to me. You are my family. If you leave, I’m not going to just meet someone and start a family.” “After everything we’ve been through. Just don’t.” Again Jake was lost. “Don’t what?” “You haven’t wanted anyone?” she repeated his words. “No.” Jake shook his head emphatically. “Really? Because I came back to Hope Falls two weeks after I left the hospital, before I went to New York, and I saw you.” “Wait. You came back?! And you saw me?!” “Yes. You were having sex with some blonde girl. In your truck. I saw you.” “And?” “And it was two weeks after I left.” He couldn’t believe that she was actually throwing the fact that he’d been with someone else in his face. He was not the asshole here (yes, you are). No regret or remorse. “What’s my point?!” Tessa asked with fury in her voice. “My point is you moved on! How long did you wait?! A whole day? Two days?” “‘You haven’t wanted anyone! Are you kidding me?! You’re sisters had to buy you new furniture that was ‘slut-free.’” “Just how many girls have you not wanted since the girl in the truck?!” “Is that what this is really about?! You stayed away because you saw me with some girl in my truck? Because yeah, I did sleep with girls. A lot of them. And to answer your question, it was three days. Three days before I fucked Jessica in the back of my truck. And then I think Gretchen was next a couple days late—” “Stop it! I don’t want to hear this.” “You asked, so here it is! Yes! I had sex with a lot of girls. Hundreds, actually. But do you actually think I wanted any of them?! I didn’t even know most of their names! I never saw any of them. (That makes it so much better).
When she’d left the hospital and stayed with her aunt, her grandmother railed rallied for her to tell him the truth. So she’d decided to go talk to Jake before she got on the flight and took the internship Mary had set up for her with a photographer in New York. On the way to his house, she’d even started thinking that maybe they could work things out. She’d never made it to his house because driving along the highway, she’d spotted his truck down by the river parked in “their spot.” She’d gotten off the highway and pulled in behind him...having sex…with another girl.
Their conflict and unresolved issues were rushed, if their love was truly epic, the ending deserved the same.
Oh how I loved Let it Snow! With a different author I might have hated it, but I loved it. Jake and Tessa...man. I heart them so much! It was a bumpy ride, but oh so good.
Thirteen years ago Jake and Tessa were in love. They had their lives planned out for them. Get married, have kids, just be happy. Everything was perfect until Tessa leaves suddenly devastating Jake. He still hasn't gotten over it and he still doesn't know why she left. He still loves her even if he won't admit it. He has tried to use other women to fill in for her, to try and move on, but it just doesn't work. Lately he just hasn't been into the one night stands like he used to be. Lately he just wants more.
Tessa left because she wanted what was best for Jake. She thought that leaving would be best for him, even though she didn't even let him know why she was going. She made decisions for him, and when she gets back she continues to make decisions for him which is something I normally hate. I mean it is his life he should get some say in it. For some reason I didn't hate Tessa though, I liked her a lot. When you find out what happened there is a moment of really? That is why you left? Shaking my head at Tessa, but I don't know. The author made me really like her so I was okay with it even if I didn't agree with it at the same time.
When Tessa first gets back into town she pretty immediately runs into Jake. They both try to stay away from the other, but that doesn't really work. Tessa still thinks not being with Jake would be best for him, even though she still loves him, while Jake doesn't think he could survive Tessa leaving him again. It almost ruined Jake last time so he doesn't think he can go through that again. The only problem? Neither of them can really stay away. Neither of them can fight the attraction they have for each other. It was so much fun watching them try and reconcile and work everything out. So much fun watching them come together again. Just so much fun. I loved them both, even if Tessa was stupid at times, but oh this was a great read. Absolutely loved it. My favorite from this author so far.
First and last book by this author for me. Worst male lead EVER. I felt no connection between these two and actively hated Jake. Jake is the biggest, most selfish, a-hole EVER. Tessa and Jake had a tight connection according to everyone who knows them. At a young age, Tessa has a miscarriage and walks away from Jake. She is understandably upset by what has happened. Did Jake try to follow her, comfort her, was he also grieving the loss of the baby. NO. When she comes back two weeks later, she catches Jake having sex with another woman, so leaves permanently. 13 years later she comes back to settle her grandmothers estate. Jake has become the Fire Chief and the biggest manwhore. And I really hated that Jake thought it was OKAY and ACCEPTABLE that he had sex with another woman, only 3 days after Tessa left the hospital. He KNEW what she had been through. I disliked that Tessa left for his own sake as she now cannot have children. Not due to the fact he was a cheating a**. Then it is all just, you are the only woman I have wanted and loved.

Do you believe in everlasting love? For one soul mate? For just one person to love for your whole life? What would you be willing to give up for that kind of love, for the other person's happiness? Let it Snow is an emotional, adorable, steamy, sweet, sexy, hot-as-all-get-out journey of two soul mates way back to each other. It will make your heart ache, brake, and sigh. You hold your breath, while turning the pages, just cheering for them to find the way back to each other. Absolutely the best of the already amazing, fun, delightful series!
This may be my favorite Hope Falls novel! I LOVE Jake and Tessa's story! From the very beginning, it's dramatic and engaging. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. Plus, you get the added bonus of still finding out what is going on with all your other favorite Hope Falls residents. Loved it! I hope there will be more!! Levi's story, maybe??
This was by far the best book in this series. I cried so many tears while reading this story. The tragic past of Tessa and Jake just made this seem so real. They were meant to be together. Loved the ending. You guys could not have ended this series with a better story. Loved the whole series. Thank you.
It always amazes me how many books would not exist if two people just had a conversation. This is one of those stories. I liked the characters. I love the setting, but the time wasted always depresses me.
Once again I'm left swooning, happy, and wishing I lived in Hope Falls. Every story touches my senses and leaves me fully present as a fly on the wall in these wonderful stories:) Loved it!
I loved this book. I have been waiting for Jake's story while reading all of the siblings books. It did not disappoint. It really brought me back to that feeling of first love and "what if". I love that there were glimpses of all the other couples from previous books in this book as well.
4.5 Stars This is such a sweet romance. Maybe a tad bit frustrating at times, but It made me feel a range of emotions. Definitely a quick cute cotemporary that pulled me out of my book slump!
This story made me cry smile and hope for Jake and Tessa. Their past will hurt your heart but at the same time make you happy that true love prevails. Their story shows that you can lose everything and still win.
I found it really difficult to like the the couple in this book. Tessa constantly complicated matters for herself, and I felt like Jake should've been subjected to a full panel of STD tests before anything happened between them.
Good love story of fireman and his former high school loved one.....who left town and has now returned........Excellent portrayal of family and friends who interact......
Tessa can't believe she is back in Hope Falls after 13 years. If only she had known about her grandmother Adeline's house and everything else, she wouldn't have waited 9 months after Grandma Adie died to come back to settle everything. She only hoped that she could avoid seeing her ex-boyfriend Jake. Of course, things never turn out the way she hopes. So when she absolutely can not make it the last five miles to Hope Falls and Sue Ann's where she has rented a room, she pulls into JT's Roadhouse. After taking care of her business, she's on the way out when she runs into a brick, unmoving wall! She doesn't even have to look up to know it's him - Jake! The blonde who helped her earlier was plastered to him, really? Oh well, she gave up her right to say anything about that 13 years ago. She needs to keep her head and take care of her business with Henry, her grandmother's attorney, tomorrow, and then she can leave - again. Only what Henry tells her knocks her completely off guard. Then, when she meets Lauren to go over her options, she's again stumped! She is completely overwhelmed! What is she going to do now? All she wanted when she found out everything and found her credit was not good was to open her own photography studio. Now, it looks like she will be in town for a month or maybe longer. How will she deal with Jake? Plus, she finds out he owns the house next door! Will they be able to overcome their past? Will he ever forgive her for leaving? Will they be able to discuss why she left? Only one way to find out is to read this great story by Melanie Shawn. You will be surprised about what happened 13 years prior and how things work out - or do they?
This was another amazing story of the Maguire family who I just can't get enough of. And Melanie Shawn just knows how to keep her readers attention.
"Yep. Tessa was back in Hope Falls and she had Jake's coat." Things are about to heat up my fellow readers.
You can be sure - there is nothing you could do to erase the past and not have control over what lies ahead!
Quote from page 56 - "For a really long time, nothing in my life made any sense. And then today... I just wanted to come and see you, to look into your eyes. You're what makes sense to me."
It was high time Jake and Tessa faced what they lost. Their connection was just too strong, to real, too deep. It was a DNA connection, a feeling that would send emotions spiraling into an entirely differently stratosphere.
What's next on my reading agenda? I'm not sure yet.
Wow, I knew it was going to be an emotional journey, but I didn't expect all of that. If you have been reading this series this is one of the books I know you have been waiting on and let me tell you it does not disappoint. It will have you frustrated at times at Tessa, but Jake will calm you down just like he calms her in the book. I loved these two together and I hope that like the other books we get glimpses of them in the future. This was a very well written book and I can't wait to read more of the series. I am not sure how many more are left and I know we are running out of single people in the town unless someone knew comes in, but now that I have read Jake's story I am really looking forward to reading Levi's.
