Tangled Vines

This charming Australian rural romance will remind you of the true meaning of the holiday spirit and the power of love.

Kyle Davis doesn't do Christmas since he lost his whole family in the Boxing Day tsunami last decade. His idea of celebrating is going to his Margaret River property and cuddling up with his liquor cabinet. So finding Jordan Hastings in his shower is unacceptable - no matter how his body responds to her, a relationship is not on his holiday wish list.

After being betrayed by the man she thought loved her, winemaker Jordan has taken over her father's caretaker position - and a little bit more - at the rural vineyard. She's trying to get her career on track by bringing the neglected grapes on the property back to life. Handsome Kyle is hard to resist, especially after they grow closer and she learns of his tragic past. But falling for a man who controls her employment is not on the table.

Yet the more time they spend together, the more it appears that taking another risk on living and loving could be the best Christmas gift after all.

This is a novella length romance set in the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia. The hero Kyle has made a practice of avoiding Christmas for the last eleven years. He even bought a run down vineyard at Margaret River, a short drive from Perth, to hide in, along with a good stock of alcohol.

Jordan's father has been care-taking the property and when she comes home after a nasty break up with a fiancé who stole her work, she sees the neglected vineyard as an opportunity. When her father breaks his leg, she has the chance to prove herself. Only she wasn't expecting Kyle to turn up and want her to leave at a crucial stage of the growing grapes.

Jordan and Kyle go head to head as they fight for what they want. The sparks are covering something else, a fierce physical attraction.

This was a lovely little story of letting go of the past and making positive changes for the future. The ending is very sweet.

I immediately bought into this premise. A businessman, suffering undiagnosed PTSD retreats to his vacation home for the holidays. There, he's shocked to find the caretaker's daughter living in his house. They butt heads, but she's got a hidden alternative for staying that has nothing to do with how smoking hot he is.

Fast paced story keeps you entertained throughout. I'd love to see these 2 pop up in future stories.

description

Kyle and Jordan meet in an unlikely way thanks to the help of Kyle's assistant. Jordan is the daughter of the caregiver that takes care of Kyle's house while away. Kyle escapes from the big city every year around Christmas, not wanting to be reminded of everything he lost in the Boxing Day Tsunami. He loathes Christmas, and has no desire to celebrate it. So he goes to his house and plans to stay there until the holidays are over. What he doesn't expect is to be housing a guest for the time being.

Kyle and Jordan don't necessarily hit it off that great. But you can feel the chemistry between the two of them. I couldn't put this book down, I had to know what happened next, would Kyle be able to move past his tragic past and let someone in. And would Jordan be able to trust a man again? This is a quick read that gives you all the feels of a typical length romance novel, but in a shorter amount of time. I fell in love with these characters, and the author's writing story, and I can't wait to read more from her.

Jordan is a vintner who was jilted by her ex-fiancee who stole the credit for her wines. She takes a job as fill-in caretaker at a defunct vineyard when her father - the regular caretaker - is injured.

Kyle is a successful businessman who is suffering tremendously of survivors guilt after the death of his family.

They are thrown together after by a matchmaking assistant who no longer wants to sit by and watch Kyle torture himself.

This book has a really strong plot with good bones. I found it very disconnected and rushed through. In my opinion there was a lot of plot crammed into a novella length book. Had the author taken this to a longer length w/ more detail, I'm sure my opinion would have been more favorable.

This is my confession: Some good books are just too short for their own good.

Successful businessman Kyle usually spends Christmas alone with no celebrations. Heading to his country getaway, he is ready for another holiday alone, but he doesn't anticipate sharing his house with the fiery and sassy Jordan. Jordan has taken over her father's care-taking position whilst her father recovers from a broken leg. She is there to heal herself as well, after her ex betrayed her. Determined to prove herself, Jordan nurtures vines on Kyle's property back to health. As they grow, Kyle and Jordan's lives become more tangled.

A sweet read, that immerses you in holiday spirit and forgiveness. While Kyle and Jordan spend a lot of time getting on the other's nerves, this is because what they feel for the other scares them. The isolation from the rest of the world provides them with an opportunity to get to know the other completely.

This was a short and sweet book about finding healing after a tragedy and letting love in. Kyle, lost his entire family and blames himself. He is one determined man but has horrible guilt. He has one mission and that's to get drunk and forget its Christmas time. He wasn't expecting a guest when he arrived. Jordan, has come home to help her dad out. She wasn't counting on the company being so good looking. Thanks to some sneaky plans from Kyle's friend, the two are stuck with each other. Before they know it, sparks are flying. Kyle is hesitant but comes around. Jordan, is perfect for Kyle. She is head strong and doesn't take any crap. She's exactly what he needs and helps him heal his heart as well. This was a fun short read that I really enjoyed!

This romance was a great break from some of the heavier books I've been reading lately. That doesn't mean that the hero Kyle or the heroine Jordan don't have some significant issues to deal with, but Flockton's writing style was light, breezy, and the story came together well; the emotional payoff at the ending was lovely. While I liked the plot and characters, I was incredibly intrigued by the rural Australian setting and found myself looking up pictures and travel articles about it. I love when a landscape becomes its own character in the book and that was one of my favorite aspects of Tangled Vines.

This was an emotional read and I enjoyed it a lot! Kyle was successful in business, but every Christmas he shut himself off from people at his vacation home to mourn the loss of his family. Only this year he found Jordan staying in the house, thanks to his assistant. Jordan is strong and speaks her mind. She's able to see Kyle's inner pain and she helps Kyle learn how to hope and live again. I'm really looking forward to reading more books in this new series.

There's a lot to like about this book. A decent plot, strong willed characters, and the author's usual adept build up of the connection between them. A very promising start to the book.

For me, however, there seemed to be a rush to a conclusion, due, no doubt, to the length of the book. For my personal preference, I would have liked to have had a longer book with the relationship explored in more detail.

That said, this remains an enjoyable read, of novella length.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Such a sweet read

This was such a sweet read! I loved every page! Nicole tends to do that to me, though. She grabs me and holds me with her words as I get so invested with each character of hers. I can't get enough! Brava!

I did enjoy this book, however I thought it all came together too neatly too quickly at the end. Although, when reading romance, I suppose you can expect there will be a HEA!
