‘In just a few days, I will turn eighteen. My aura will explode and every supernatural creature in the vicinity, the country, perhaps even the world will know where I am. They will know who I am. They will come for me.’
With her all important eighteenth birthday just weeks away, Maor princess Shaylee Greene has got some tough choices to make. She knows what is expected of her - marriage to the fair-haired, handsome Tristan who was bonded to her as a child. The wedding is supposed to be the culmination of the Maor prophecy that will supposedly result in the return of immortality to her people. Yet Shaylee’s heart yearns for Kael, her dark and fierce protector - who is strictly off limits. And the longer she delays, the closer she brings herself and her loved ones to mortal danger.

Rating scale: 5 - Has the Xfactor. MUST read! 4 - Great book, read it! 3 - Yes, pretty good. 2 - It was okay.
Three is book two in the Maor series by Caroline Greyling. This book was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
Shaylee Greene’s world has been turned upside down. She used to just be a normal teenage girl, shopping, going to school, and hanging out with her best friend. But a few months ago her world was completely turned upside down. Shaylee learned she is a Maor princess, that she alone is the chosen one that will save her people. Not only that, at birth, she was betrothed, bound, to Tristan and was also bound to her protector, Kael McGregor.
Shaylee knows that it is prophesied that she must marry. And she does feel affection for Tristan through their bond but when Kael is near, her heart swells. The bond she feels with him far exceeds the proper way she should feel towards her protector.
“Tristan may have a piece of my heart, he may be the man I am promised to marry, the one I will fulfill the Maor prophecy with…but my soul already belongs to another.”
Shaylee is already a beacon to those that want to harm her but when she turns eighteen, her aura will be so strong she won’t be able to hide. A Maor’s powers also manifest on their eighteenth birthday. They don’t have any idea what their powers are going to be until it happens. All of this is weighing on Shaylee, a new way of life, a new home, an impending marriage she’s not sure of, new responsibilities, unknown powers, danger, and love for a man that she can’t have.
A new player comes into the picture in this book. Tabitha Fern is the leader of the Tanistry which is over all Maor. And her nephew Jason who I didn’t like from the beginning. Both of these two seem to have ulterior motives. They both made me uneasy from the start.
“You need to start thinking about the bigger picture, Shaylee. The future of the Maor is in your hands. They need a strong leader, not an emotional teenager.”
The world this author has created is so amazing. The images she paints with her words are so vivid. The characters are all wonderful. Will Shaylee be forced to go ahead with her marriage to Tristan? Will she fulfill her prophecy? Will she bring danger to her people? This series needs to be read in order so if you haven’t already, go back and check out the first book in the series, Five, and see what you think. I have truly enjoyed both of these books and can’t wait to see what happens next.
I have been waiting forever, (or at least a year) for book two in the Maor series by Caroline Greyling after being swept away by Five. Ms. Greyling set the bar pretty high for herself and Three book two of the series. Turning eighteen is a big deal for any teen, monumental even, but for Shaylee Greene this birthday will be nothing short of epic, if she survives to see it, that is. Not only will the big one-eight bring forth all of her powers as a Maor, but her aura is going to become a beacon for every supernatural creature on the face of the Earth and many of them will want her dead to end the chance of the prophecy being fulfilled as she marries the handsome young man she was bonded to as a child. Tristan is wonderful, and she cares for him, but the one man in the world she cannot have is the one she wants with all of her heart and soul. Kael is her sworn protector, the one who has declared he will die to protect her, he is her best friend, the one who holds her when the nightmares come and she is wracked with pain. Duty to all of the Maor and their return to immortality must mean more than the young passions to two people. Shaylee knows she has no right to be so selfish, but she has stopped at nothing to hold off the inevitable, to have to say good bye to the dream of being with Kael and they both know it.
As the final hours tick away, a turn of events will bring the Maor to their knees as one grand gesture of the ultimate love sends Shaylee’s world into the darkness of pain, loss and guilt. What will it mean for the Maor People? What will it mean for the prophecy? Is it possible another will step in to stand for her? Is it a grand gesture for the people or is there something more devious afoot? Things are happening to fast, too conveniently to be fate and Shaylee is like a pawn caught in the middle of duty and doing what feels right.
Grab your sunglasses, Caroline Greyling has a hidden gem for the pile and it is glowing brilliantly at the top. With her ability to build a world within a world and to place characters that actually breathe, feel and react with human-like tendencies, Ms. Greyling pulls us out of our reality and thrusts us into the reality she has created between the covers of Three. Discover what Three means as we follow a path of growing pains, nightmarish pain as the road to rust becomes a little more bumpy and a lot more dangerous. Secrets are revealed, emotions will run high and Shaylee is determined to do what it takes to have it all. Strong characters, taut energy and magnificent writing for young adults, no matter how young you aren’t!

SO WORTH THE WAIT!!!! This book was fantastic! It continues the story from FIVE, and the author did such an amazing job. The plot was intricate, there were twists that were unexpected, and swoon-worthy romance! Five glittery stars for such a great book in the Maor series!
This was a good follow-up to the first book. The storyline is definitely fresh and the characters are well developed. However, I do have issues with the many grammatical and punctuation errors. It becomes distracting to the point where I have to backtrack in order to be sure I'm reading the sentence correctly. Also Shaylee cries too much. And can Kael and Shaylee ever admit their true feelings?! Does it matter if no one believes it's possible as long as they know it to be true?
I still find it hard to believe that this series is the first for this author. I read Five last year then re-read it before I started Three. Both books totally swept me up and I feel like I'm inside the story. I feel like I can feel the emotions of the characters and can clearly picture their forest home. I wish I was a Maor. I cannot wait until the next part of this series comes out and I will look for any other books this author publishes. I would love for this series to be turned into a movie so I could watch it repeatedly.
I read this book about a year ago for the first time, and then again the same week. After two weeks of reading and re-reading I actually forced myself to stop. I promised myself that I would not pick it up for a year because I knew that I would never put it down if I didn't. That year got up last week and I have already read it three times. Caroline Greyling will never cease to amaze me! Reading it after so long was luxurious and I find myself longing for the third novel! I would highly recommend it, but be sure to read Five first!
The characters are so easy to feel compassion, frustration and dislike for. From the forbidden love, missing Prince baby and lost loves to the evil power hungry elite, every chapter has something.
