No job, new gift, a pack of wolves, and two feral mates. How can Shawnee possibly decide her future and keep her loved ones happy? Or worse, satisfied. When perfectly notable people begin vanishing without a trace, Shawnee can't help but wonder if the Andrus has returned to avenge their exposure. With no leads and the missing count rising, human authorities and the Sept find themselves battling an unknown force threatening their most precious and vulnerable counterparts. Can the Sept come together to recover the lost in time to save them from everlasting horror? Will Shawnee's fear prevail, or will she find the strength to face a new set of challenges? She's got time to decide. But not long.
Max grew up just outside of New York City, spending most of her formative years outdoors creating wild ghost hunts with neighborhood kids, setting booby-traps to capture unwitting family members, and building clubhouses on top of ten-foot walls. Max wrote her first story at the age of twelve and titled it Circles of Friendship. Through the years, Max has written several short-stories and poems, all of which met the wrath of the “Not Good Enough” monster and ended in fiery demise.
Max regained her confidence when she began writing scholarly articles and research theses on her first trip through graduate school. It took several years for her to break the habit of the formal writing that marred her creativity. An additional Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing was Max’s biggest support in this. Max writes primarily sci-fi/fantasy, paranormal romance, and Young Adult stories.
Just a quick note this time: For the good portion of the time, this book was relatively difficult for me to read, though I kept reading. Difficult because it was so hyper-sexualized. No, not heavy on the sex, but heavy on the touching, kissing, thinking about sex (lots and lots of thinking about sex), more touching, siting on each other, licking, etc. There were good moments, though, and by the end I gave the book the rating I did. Only to see I've rated the book the same rating I gave the first book. Weird how things work out (and no, I had not recalled, before rating the book, what I had rated the first book).
3,5 stars I'm on the fence if this one was better than the first or not...I really like the growth of the main character her struggle is very real once again, the story was interesting and it kept me reading. I also liked the poly dinamics but it really bothered me the way she seemed to favor one partner over the other, especially when the favored one is the one she just met vs. the one she has known for 12 years, just seems unlikely and unfair. There were also a couple of plot holes that confused me. Good read overall.
Given a copy of the book from the author in exchage for an honest review ***Review From Amy Conley For The Nerd Girl Page*** Shawnee TwoFeathers has resigned from her job, has a new gift, a pact of wolves and two feral mates.. how can she decide her future while trying to keep those she loves happy or even satisfied.. When people of the community start vanishing without a trace Shawnee begins to wonder if the Andrus has returned to get revenge and cover up their exposure. When there's no leads to follow and the missing count climbing higher human authorities and the sept have no choice but to work together to battle some unknown force thats threatening something very precious to their sept.. Can they come together in time to find the lost and missing? Can Shawnee overcome her fear and find strength to face these new challenges?
My review: The author wasted no time getting back into the story where book one left off as the story unfolds and the plot thickens so does the intensity and the action I couldn't tear myself away or put the book down my curiosity kept getting the better of me every time I tried to take a short break I'd find myself coming back for more and there was definitely more!!! I was not disappointed with this book it was everything I'd hoped it would be! I thought the book was very well written and had a perfect flow! A powerful and intense story with jaw dropping surprises and action that left me gripping my seat, covering my eyes, and gasping.. my heart was racing with every scene but there's also a beautiful romantic side that plays a huge part in the story too. I really enjoyed reading this book not only for the powerful & adrenaline story the author presents us but because the character's are a lot of fun (especially Xany she had me in tears laughing at her antics) and some are even mischevious but as the character's grow they start opening up more and coming out of their protective facade and that's when we really start to learn alot about them and some of them have quite a bit to say! I also enjoyed reading about the history of the septs and pacts between wolves and weretigers you really learn alot about them, how things work and what they can do, the bonds they form and the importance of family and honor I found it all so fascinating! But like every good story things come to an end too fast (I'm ready to re-read it just so I can make it last longer!) and the author leaves us with just a hint of curiosity that leaves you wanting more (pure torture I tell you!!!)

This book was really good it had so many twists, turns and surprises that had me on my toes. I really enjoyed this book because it didn't just linger on just the romance part of it and let the rest be on the back burner and be forgotten until the end like many other romance author normally do. Can't wait for the next book, and many books from author.
Here is where we part ways, for now, I think. Maybe I will try it again in the future. If only I could get a spoiler about the main relationship. I already bought all the books in the series so I guess I will look through the final book and see.
I enjoyed the story and watching Shawnee grow into her own along with her pack but, I feel as though Vanessa no longer matters to her as if she's just a character to have around. I like Vanessa's character and would like to see her happy. Hopefully book 3 will be different in their dynamics.
I really enjoyed this book evermore than the first, the story starts where the first book finished. The book kept me on edge and I couldn't put it down, I will definitely recommened it to friends.
An interesting and intriguing continuation of Shawnee's story, as she settles into life with her pack. Though, for her, nothing is quite ever quiet, and there are things lurking on the edge.
There is a lot of focus here on exploring her trauma, and some more of her past, as well as her growing relationship with both Vanessa and Mal. It's nice to see her grow and become more accepting, and the pack growing as a whole as well. Things aren't always easy, but that is a part of growth, and it is, after all, a significant part of the story. Vanessa and Mal are both loving, and good partners for her.
Enjoyed the story, and looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
This books was written better than the first. However, the author left a lot of loose ends and never returned to some major plot twists. Major events happened in the beginning and were kind of forgotten about. I will continue to read the story as it’s interesting. Great portrayal of abuse and subsequent ptsd. Can be difficult to read if you are easily triggered.
One of the best writers I have read and this series keeps getting better and better! You would think after reading the first book that one would be able to pace reading the second book. But no. This book is just as exciting and the characters are just as delicious as the first. I cannot wait to read all the rest. I'm totally immersed and lost in this wonder wereworld the author has created so beautifully.
After a long time, I read the second book and it captivated me again. In addition to the werewolves, I find Vanessa, the Wertigerin, very exciting, and how Shawnee manages to have two partners and do justice to both. Shawnee has to face many fears and her past again and again, she is reminded of them again and again and can not dodge them. As a reader, I suffer with her and am happy about every happy minute she experiences.
This is a DNF for me, I love Max Ellendales books but struggled with this series as I constantly found myself wishing that it was at least a female trio. Every interaction with (I want to say Mac) left me feeling prickly and I just wanted Vanessa to be the main squeeze. I have a thing for purring apparently!
Book 2 in the series; I read it from start to finish in one day. I loved the characters and the story line. I could feel each characters emotion clearly through the writing.
Great second book. I felt genre wise this was more ‘romance’ than the ‘adventure’ of book one but it was lovely nonetheless to watch the relationships grow.
