Dark Ghost

Rate this book
He wasn't civilized or tame. He had his own code and he lived by it. Monk. Bounty hunter. Vampire slayer. Andre Boroi has spent centuries battling the undead, holding out against the dark with honor. But now, gravely wounded by master vampire Costin Popescu, Andre will be easy to track - his spilled blood marking the killing trail for Popescu and his hungry band of underlings. Andre's only chance is to disappear into the gray mist of the Carpathians. To wait. To hope.

She had a healing touch and a scent that was his lifeblood. In the mountains in search of a precious crystal, geologist Teagan Joanes suddenly finds herself hunted by those she once trusted. Then she comes across the warrior- wounded, wanting and irresistible.

Andre has been craving her for an eternity: his lifemate. Her warmth envelops him. Her scent pulsates. And with every beat of her heart, Teagan surrenders to a passion she can't possibly comprehend. Now they are bound by destiny, but is it enough to keep them safe from a stalking, relentless darkness that threatens to swallow them alive?

4 Ghost with the most Stars

Another awesome book for the Dark series. I love Christine Feehan. Dark Series is one of my top five favorite series of all times and it's still going strong. I have read every book in this series some I have loved more than others. I feel Dark Ghost was a good slow burn, low drama read. In Dark Blood and a few others I had a problem with the large amount of spells and the Carpathian language filling the pages and boring the crap out of me, but gladly that was not a problem with this book!

 photo andreteagan_zpsnie0cmny.jpg

I loved Andre. He is your typical CF alpha male in that he is super protective, dominant, and caveman in the way he just takes his woman, but he was also very sweet and he tries to compromise with Teagan. I love that I got to see the meaning behind him being called Ghost. Andre is in a few other books and I have always wanted him to get his own book. Teagan I am confused about. I don't know if I like her or not. She was funny and brave one minute and then ditzy and wishy washy the next. It is because of my mixed feelings on Teagan that I took a star away from the rating of this book. Andre and Teagan are very cute together, and there is a nice relationship built in this book. This book is definitely a slower pace with very little drama or vampire fights. It is mainly just the relationship between Teagan and Andre and takes place in his cave. I would have liked to see some faces from the past but sadly there are none in this book. There are two new characters and I like and would like to see more of Fane and Grandma Trixie who sounds like she will be a lot of fun.

Over all a great read. I can not wait til Gary Jansen's story. I have waited and waited and it will be here in March. I think I will do a reread of the whole series when it gets closer to Gary's book release date. And I hope that CF makes a book for Fane, Tomas, Matias and Lojos.

I have read almost the entire Dark Series by Christine Feehan, which is one of my favorite pnr series ever. I always wait in tenterhooks for her latest offering and I was so excited when Dark Ghost, the 28th book in the series finally arrived!!!! Talk about mixed feelings….

After the disappointment with the last two books, I was looking forward to another “golden” story ….Andre’s appearance in the previous books was enough to want me to read more about him.

But sadly……Dark Ghost did not pull at my heartstrings….rather it was a case of….me saying again…that I was ………………..

Apart from Andre finding his true lifemate in Teagan and teaching her how to fly and shift into an owl (which were the scenes I liked the most!!!), the majority of story takes place in Andre’s cave where Teagen had been drawn to and only the last few pages do we get to meet any other Carpathians or for that fact, anyone else.

And I felt that there were so many sex scenes....more like page fillers and made no sense why there were so man...after a while, I skimmed the sex scenes because they were repetitive and .....somewhat....
 photo tumblr_lx6zpjekmk1qiqwhg_zpsotm7p18q.gif
There are just a couple of times I can read..."come for me" "his length".......

I liked that Andre is portrayed as a kind and not the usual domineering vampire…allright, he does something to Teagan that I thought was a bit so not on…but still, his adoration and love for her is kind of sweet.

Now Teagan….I was like…yes, she’s cute, sassy and funny and at other times, she drove me absolutely nuts!!! I kept thinking how immature she was ….the way she accepts Andre and all his baggage and history so quickly…no questions asked!!!! Really!!! But I adored her family storytelling….her grandmother!!! Hell, I want to meet Granny Trixie!!!!! She’s a character of note!!!!

What intrigued me the most was the monastery and the monks…and Fane…wow, are we going to get more about him in the future???? I just wish we had a bit more about the monastery…but no such luck this time!!!

And I so missed not seeing any of my loved characters in this series!!! I was hoping that Andre would take Teagan to meet the “clan”………

The ending of this book was left up in the air!!!! Nothing happens and then …THE END!!!!!

I just hope that the next book in this series is going to “GRAB” me….I cannot accept this series to end…there is so much more I want to find out about this incredible world that Christine Feehan has created.

I have always loved the Carpathian series, and the men make me melt every single time!! I had two complaints with this instalment... One was that it seemed quite slower moving, as well as there was a lot of repetition. The second was the ending was awful! It cut right off and left the Gramma situation unresolved! I felt i like I wanted to see Andre meet Teagan’s Gramma. In my opinion, there could have been a great storyline with meeting Teagan’s family.

Even with my complaints, I still enjoyed the story, and I’m hoping some of the warriors from the monastery will find their life mates! As long as Christine Feehan keeps writing this series; I will keep reading it!!!

The Carpathian and his little woman!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💚🖤💛❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌎
Character development: 🧐😕😍😗😳

The heroine: Teagan Joanes - she is a geologist and a natural healer with special gifts. One of her gifts is her ability to find certain crystals, rocks and gems. She feels something inside her that gets stronger the closer she is, or weaker as she gets further away. She is in the Carpathian mountains with a friend from college as her guide in order to get a specific crystal that will heal her grandmother.

The Hero(s): Andre Boroi - an ancient Carpathian, he is centuries old and a warrior. He has lived so long that he no longer sees colors or feels emotions. He has given up on finding his life mate. He would lay himself out in the sun and end his existence if it wasn’t for the group of vampires he was hunting led by Master Vampire Costin Popescu. He wants to end them before he ends himself.

The Story: Teagans grandma Trixie has been talking about a guy named Gary and Vampires. So Teagan and her sisters assume she is losing her mind. Teagan knows that there is a crystal or gem that can heal her grandmother. She is able to tell that she will be able to find it in the Carpathian mountains in Turkey.

Teagan has a college friend who lives in that area and acts as a guide. He agrees to take her into the mountains to find what she needs. After being attacked, Teagan climbs up the mountain alone and finds Andre inside a cave where he has holed up to recover from grievous wounds he suffered in a battle with Popescu and his vampire followers.

As a Carpathian, Andre is immortal and has a bunch of different powers such as the power to heal, by leaving his body and going into the person he is healing, he also is able to heal himself. He has the ability to shift into any animal he wants, to control the minds of humans, to wake the spirits of the dead and more.

The romance was great and super steamy. I liked the fact that it took three times for a Carpathian to claim his woman and “bring her into the Carpathian world”. They have to share blood three times in order to solidify their bond and make Teagan a Carpathian. Lately I have been reading a lot of the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands and I am loving all the differences between immortals from that world and the Carpathians in this world.

As for the narration, I really enjoyed how this was done and wish more of the series were dual narration. From what I can tell only a few of the series are. This one was told from mostly from Teagan’s POV, but even within her POV, when Andre speaks it is in the male voice, narrated by Phil Gigante. I just love that and wish every romance was done this way.

Phil was perfect for Andre, he had a deep slow voice that was like pure honey and perfect for the Carpathian and when he spoke in Teagan’s thoughts there was a bit of an echo sound which was great to distinguish when they were communicating in their minds from when they spoke out loud to each other.

Natalie Ross did the voice of Teagan and she used a softer voice for when she was thinking than when she was speaking. The speaking voice was a tad deep for my liking but had a trace of a Louisiana accent which worked well for the character. I definitely plan to read the next book which includes Trixie.

I hate to say it but this is the third Feehan book in a row that has just utterly disappointed me. Where the hell is the plot? The sex scenes were definitely better this time around but I can't even say that blew my mind. Where was the character development? Yes, she's "quirky" and obnoxiously self conscious. Yes, he has honor and is centuries old. We get it. Who are they BEYOND that? I just didn't feel the connection to the characters and I wanted to! Andre has always been so intriguing to me and I had high hopes to mark him as one of my favorites but I have no clue who he is beyond a hunter who had a terrible childhood.

I feel as if this was just a filler book to help pass the time until the release of Gary's book considering setting up meeting Teagan's grams is the only thing Dark Ghost accomplished. Extremely unfortunate considering how intriguing Andre's character is. Overall, a big let down.

Welcome back to the Carpathian Mountains and what is the twenty eighth story in this series. This book does work as a standalone but it's a series that keeps building and indeed there is a character mentioned whose story will resonate with regular readers.
Andre Boroi no longer feels emotion or sees in colour and is hanging on to life by a thread. Considered to be a ghost his only wish now is to defeat the deadly master vampire Costin Popescu but as the story begins Andre is gravely injured and needs the healing sleep that ancients rely on. Teagan Joanes mistakenly put her trust in someone who is obsessed by her and barely escaped with her life. Lost, alone and trapped up a mountain she finds herself drawn to a cave but what she finds there is anything but ordinary! Deep within the mountain is a man who appears to be dying but this is no ordinary man and Teagan is about to be drawn into a world where blood means everything!
First I have to say that I liked the fact that Andre wasn't the usual arrogant alpha male that this author often gives us. Yes he is uber protective but from the start his intentions towards Teagan are to bring her into his world as gently as he can. After all finding his life mate is something he had given up on but Teagan is a woman like no other he has met . Plus Andre has a truly sad backstory that explained so much about his attitude. Teagan is young and although intelligent doubts her own charms. She's a geologist with a penchant for climbing and a knack for finding gems which she describes as her tuning fork . She also seems to suffer from verbal diarrhoea with an internal monologue that totally both bewilders and entrances Andre! Teagan is not used to being dismissed and has difficulty with Andres high handed ness but then again having been alive for centuries it would be almost impossible for this dominant Carpathian male not to take charge. Theirs is a loving sensual romance but it's not without it's turbulence !
I'm loathe to say too much obviously but an awful lot of this book takes place in a cave which seemed a little odd. Yes it has a hot spring ( don't they all?) but luckily there's no incessant chanting. The scenes when Teagan is climbing are very descriptive and clearly the author has done her homework which added a fresh element to the story. If honest the constant descriptions of the couples hair skin etc felt a tad extreme but this author does know how to write intense hot sex. I would have liked this book to have been about Gary and indeed he is mentioned here but not seen. We meet a new character at the end who I hope Ms Feehan reprises as she seldom revisits past characters. As for the end well for this reader it seemed quite abrupt and I turned the page looking for more but I guess when you are done you are done!

Teagan has to be the most annoying heroine in the entire series! Her inner voice made me want to shoot her or me to end the agony! I liked Andre but he could not save this book from Teagan's relentless wishy washy machinations. I was bored - a lot. And annoyed - a whole lot!

Summary

Andre Boroi is a carpathian, a bounty hunter and hunts the undead. He is known as the “Ghost” and Andre keeps his true last hidden until he meets his lifemate, if he ever does. After his latest battle fighting a master vampire, Costin Popescu, he is injured and disappears into the mist and his lair to heal and hopefully will have safe harbor from Costin’s underlings. Teagan Joanes, is a geologist and when her grandmother goes crazy talking about vampires and killing a mysterious “Gary”. She knows that they need to find a way to heal her mentally. There is a secret stone hidden in the carpathian mountains and so Teagan goes in search for it. But her partner, and friend for years, turns on her attacks and attempts to rape her and she barely escapes leaving her attacker unconcious. She follows a trail up to some caves and comes across a passageway where she discovers a lethal man that looks at her with kind eyes but is a predator undeneath. She discovers a new world of creatures and passion but will Teagan have the courage to embrace the Carpathian side of life?
The Hero

Andre Boroi, is one of the oldest of their kind and has lasted all these years without turning and hunting vampires. Andre as a teenager didn’t have his parents, they were both withdrawn but found a new family. A family that accepted him and loved him in a way his true parents never did. But on the eve of the night his parents gave up their lives together, his real family were murdered by his uncle who turned into a vampire and he was helpless to stop it no matter how hard he fought it. That one fateful night changed him forever. And ever since he kept their name as his name to honor them and only his lifemate would know of the truth behind it. What I loved about Andre was how genuine and real he is as the hero. He doesn’t hide behind a facade, he is honest and loyal. I love how sweet and tender he treats his lifemate….from the beginning he treats her with honor and I loved that about his character. He makes mistakes with Teagan but he never deceives her and I like how up front he is.
The Heroine

Teagan Joanes, is from the states. She attended college and has her degree and loves working with her “rocks”. She is close to her family, her grandmother and her sisters. Teagan will do anything for her family even travel half way across the world to search for a stone that can help in the healing of her grandmother. Vampires, crosses and holy water, Teagan knows her grandmother is bat shit crazy and must save her. Teagan has never had a sexual interest in men or women, she believes there is something wrong with her. She doesn’t believe she is beautiful or the type of woman that Andre would want. I felt that her vulnerabilites made her seem more human and real to the reader. She isn’t one of those “perfect” heroines that are gorgeous, graceful and could do no wrong. She suffers from insecurities and personal challenges that we all do and her character just seemed so much more real to me.
Plot and Story Line

Dark Ghost is a sensational story that I couldn’t get enough of. I keep loving this series, and even though sometimes each book seems a bit similar, I love seeing more of the Carpathians. Dark Ghost is probably one of the most emotional of installments that Feehan has done with this series which really surprised me. Rarely do her books bring me to tears, but this one really did. Dark Ghost sets off with seeing each world that Teagan and Andre live in before they even meet each other. There is a sense of danger and mystery at the beginning and really sets the story with a good pace.

The story does drag a bit in the middle while Andre and Teagan get to know each other, but then it picks up speed again. What was really heartwrenching is see what happens to the adopted family of Andre. It just about broke my heart to see what happens to them. But we see that Andre is older than we think, since the Carpathian that saved him was the father of the Daratrazanoff brothers. We have two villains in this story. One is Teagan’s partner, who is really horrid. Then we have the master vampire and his minions. They both really build up the danger in the plot and I love seeing some great suspense and seeing Andre and Teagan work together to destroy their enemies. That was another wonderful concept of this story. That even though Andre is very protective of Teagan, he does let her aid him in certain ways.

This story is also leading up to the next book, we get hints that we will see Teagan’s grandmother and the entry of Gary and we do know that Gary and Gabrielle’s book is the next one coming up. So I am super excited since Gary has always been one of my favorite secondary characters since reading Dark Magic. We do get a mystery in what has been happening to the grandmother, so I am looking forward to seeing more.

What was most fun was the romance between Teagan and Andre. It does have some mountains they have to get through, and some misunderstandings occur. But what was most wonderful about these two was the sweet love story and how tender their relationship builds. I love seeing how they balance out their different personalities and eventually find a way to work in harmony.
The Cover

This is one of my favorite covers of the series!! I love his dark cape, and boy look at those abs—-so gorgeous. I really like the dark mist background.
Overall View

Dark Ghost is a sensational pararnormal romance that will have you at the edge of your seat with adventure, mystery, danger and passion!! Don’t want to miss out on this latest installment of the Carpathian Saga!!

Teagan is a modern day woman from our time period, but she's afraid of everything. She's use to thinking for herself, being independent, maybe irrational at time but that's quirks of her personality. So when she happens upon Andre her world changes. He becomes dictator and she a puppet on his strings, he makes life altering decisions and ultimately raping her humanity. If the continuing trend of the series is going to be of weak minded, pathetic heroines, then I won't be finishing it out. So that's why I gave Dark Ghost two stars.

I LOVED DARK GHOST!!

I Loved Andrea Boroi and Teagan Joanes. Dark Ghost is a great addition to the Dark Series. Which makes me wonder why so many 1 and 2 star review. Maybe it not the story at all but who Teagan Joanes is. I like that Christine realizes all people and religions in her storylines. She has a huge fan base with all kinds of people and it is brave of her to incorporate all races and religion in her storyline. Bravo Christine Feehan!!

Now to the Story I have always wonder why Andrea was referred to as the Ghost, well you find out in DG, fans get know his entire backstory which was sad but interesting. I loved the fact that Teagan his lifemate was intelligent and resilient. I didn't get any sense of her being a whiner as another reviewer said. The story was at a steady pace well developed character for Teagan and Andrea. Andrea is still in the Carpathian Mountains hunting a master vampire before he joins his childhood friends Matais, Logos and Tomas in the State. You read what they are doing in Dark Crime the novella. After being badly injured fighting with master vampires and lesser ones Teagan goes to rest an recover from in one of the caves high in the Carpathian mountains. Teagan is in search of a gem or crystal to heal her Grandmother Trixie Joanes Trixie and the author Christine have a fairly long history chatting over Gary Jensen. This is has been going on for years inside Christine Community website. So she wrote Trixie (nickname) into this storyline. Which is hilarious for old timer on the CF community. Even if you don't know who Trixie is this is a great character in Dark Ghost.

I the story had less battle action scenes but the book is also much shorter then most of CF's Dark series books. The romance was sensual and as usual for Christine a bit erotic. Was it more then usual for the author no. Anyone who know and have followed Christine Feehan knows she is know for her long sex scenes and many sex scenes. Dark Ghost was mild compared to some of her books. There again I think that most of the complaints are about who Teagan is then about the authors style of writing. I hope to find out more about the monastery in future Dark series books. Dark Ghost is a great addition to the Dark series and I just LOVED IT!!

3 1/2 - 4 stars

Great to read another Carpathian novel. This is one of my first series that I started my Paranormal Romance love with. But I have to say that this one was not one of the most original ones and I tend to miss the old style.

The main characters spend ~85% of the book inside a cave. Andre wasn't all that attractive. Missed why she would have chosen him and the words like
"Silk and velvet" was overused as a description for his voice. and was disturbing the general story-line

Teagan, the female character is short and small breasted, But that didn't connect with the bed scenes. Think somehow Christine forgot how her characters look like ?!

The most notable part for me was that the ending didn't feel like an ending. I thought i had another 30 pages to go but they where two appendix ?! Very disappointing. Why not end the book like a real ending give the reader some closure.

I am more than disappointed with this! I don't often abandon a book, especially one written by a favourite top ten author but I was so bored with it and was finding it a chore.......maybe I will go back to it again some time in the future but feel that I can give this a miss as adds nothing to the series, lets hope the next one is better!

REVIEW:
I instantly felt a connection with Teagan and the way her mind jumbles random thoughts, especially when she’s nervous. The fact that Andre is a demanding man of few words and finds himself changing because of her was romantic and pleasurable. I did find the story to be a bit lonely as it was just the two of them but there was plenty going on with the vampires and human enemies that hunted them. As always, the romance and love scenes were smoking hot and fit in nicely with the overall story. I’m not sure if the next book will touch on Andre and Teagan or not but I hope so. There are several parts that would be fun to revisit and expand on. Another great Carpathian story.

2.5 - are they ever leaving that cave - stars?

Seriously, 90% of this took place in a cave where the couple have sex... repeatedly. There's a little bit of drama with a master vampire and some human sexual sadists who are after the heroine (Feehan loves to write sexual sadists into her books), but mostly it's just the two of them in a cave.

The hero and heroine were likeable. I did think it was pretty messed up for the hero to be doing secret blood exchanges with the heroine rather than telling her. I guess he thought it was 'easing her into his world' but she thought she was losing her mind when she was suddenly sensitive to sunlight and able to see in the dark. I guess that accounted for her flippy-floppy behavior. "I want to be with this man forever, Now I want to go back home, I want to be with this man forever, Now want to go back home...."

One of the less interesting books in the series, IMHO.

Let me start off that I'm a Christine Feehan fan. I'm always rushing to get my hands on the latest book. However, I was really disappointed this time.

So, what was it that I didn't like about this one? First off, the setting was limiting. Most of the story took place within a cave. There was little interaction with other characters. Those two factors alone wouldn't be enough to turn me against the story.

My biggest disappointment was that the story didn't feel like it ever came to a real conclusion. I actually flipped thru the pages when I finished to make sure I didn't skip something.

The next thing that just didn't sit well with me was the fact that our female lead was said to be super smart but she seemed silly and naive a good deal of the time. The story told us she majored in geology. It never said if she worked in the field or not. How was she able to travel all over the world without having a job to pay for it. We'd been told that her family didn't have much money.

Someone turns you into a non-human and you are crazy mad; but wait, he kisses you and magically you are now okay with it. You constantly talk about how you are a modern woman and don't take orders and "obey" a man. Yet, once again (and again, and again...) he kisses you and everything is fine.

You leave the cave just three times and fight off vampires each time. You have no real interaction with the real world but now you are in love and will be together forever. You even have moments where you fear he is a bad person. Until, yep you guessed it, he kisses you and now you know he loves you and all is well in the world once again.

This story would have been so much better if half of the sex was taken out and a good deal of the cave talks were removed. Throw in how they could actually make the relationship work. Show where he bent a bit more to accommodate the person she was. Finish the story. If her family was that important to her then they should have been part of the resolve. I get that granny will most likely be brought in to the next story line. But couldn't you have filled in some of the blanks?

I've noticed in my binge reading of this series that Ms. Feehan seems to write two or three high action stories, then slows it down just a bit and throws a slower burn, relationship focused book in before jumping back into the action. I actually really like that.

This is one of the slower, relationship stories. It spends most of the book focussing on Andre and Teagan and showing how their feelings grow and develop. Add in sporadic action scenes to notch it up a bit and you have a truly wonderful Carpathian love story.

I was very disappointed that the book ended at 89%, however. I was really looking forward to meeting Grandma Trixie! She was such a big part of this storyline that the book felt incomplete without allowing us to enjoy Andre meeting up with her.

This, the 28th book in the Dark Saga series is everything we should expect from Christine Feehan. Normally once you've reached this far in a series it would help to have read at least a couple of the previous books in the series so as to be familiar with the characters and general story line. I don't feel this is the case here. Although it would be helpful, I feel that since the main characters spend almost 80% of the book in a cave, the average reader does not necessarily have to be familiar with the series. What the reader does not glean from Andre's actions and inner monologue in the first couple chapters, they get when he describes what his life is like and what it entails to Tegan. This being said, someone completely unfamiliar with the series should be able to follow along easily.

“The fire spread fast, out of control and she wanted it, wanted that burn to consume her. Mostly she wanted him. Wanted to be his.”

This one quote, although several chapters in to the book serves to summarize it very well. Having barely survived a physical attack and near rape Tegan has run blindly into the mountains. Unsure of exactly where she is, but following her inner music, in search of something specific, she instead stumbles upon a mysterious cave. The cave however is already inhabited. Luckily the inhabited is not of the four-legged and furry kind. The last thing she expected was to find a gorgeous, but dead, man.

The chemistry between Tegan and Andre was instantaneous. Even thinking he was dead, Tegan felt drawn to him. She felt an overwhelming sorrow at the mere thought that she may have been too late to save him.

Having already decided to walk in to the sunlight after destroying the master vampire he has been hunting, the last thing Andre expected to find when he awakens from his healing sleep is his lifemate trying to revive him. He had searched for her for centuries to no avail and here she was, somehow having walked into his cave, through some very strong protective wards. The biggest challenge for a centuries old Carpathian and a modern day woman is obvious. He's determined to order her around for her own good and tell her what to do and she is determined to not follow anyone else's orders and make her own decisions. However, seeing as how she had been stumbling through the mountains all night after being beaten and almost raped by someone she trusted and considered a friend, maybe her judge of character isn't exactly the best.

It was a sweet and enjoyable read. Fans of Feehan or the Carpathians will greatly enjoy this. Tegan is innocent and sweet and Andre is absolutely gorgeous and so sweet. Definitely a must read for Feehan fans.

I devoured the first half of this book. Things slowed at that point; I'll tell you why in a minute. This is my first book in this series and I can totally see myself reading more. I loved the world, the story and Andre.

This book has Carpathians and vampires. Carpathians hunt vampires and are guided by their honor. When they loose that honor and indulge in the evil, they become what they hunt. Resisting the evil for centuries, Andre has given up on the hope of finding his lifemate. The pain that plagued him from his youth has long since faded with all his emotions and the color from the world. He's willing to go out killing the master vampire he is hunting. But then the impossible happens and his world is full of color and emotions again. The mystery that is his lifemate is a precious gift to him and he will not risk her for anything.

I loved the lore that is this book. The Carpathians have powers that I fell in love with. More than shifters and restricted liked vampires, they are something unique and deadly. I'm intrigued by the ancients that live on the mountain top. I wonder about the triplets that live in the States. It is clear there will be more books from this series in my future.

The writing was well done. I'm not a third person kinda girl but this third person worked for me. The POV was always there though it sometimes changed mid-chapter. I felt a connection to the characters and part of the story. A few places felt repetition to me but I think it was for emphasis.

The one issue I had with this book was Teagon. At first I found her humorous. That's why the first half of the book went much faster for me. I slowed down as she got on my nerves. She's trying to pull off modern women but she can't keep her mouth from spewing nonsense. Ancient men who feel the need to protect do not follow the rules of the twenty-first century nor do you want them to. And her compassion for killers was more than I could take. Then there was the flipping back and forth between trusting and not trusting Andre. Okay, I get it, she was mad at him. I would have been too. BUT seriously women, get over it. She'd decide she was and that she loved him and then she fell on the crazy train again. I wanted to slap her. If it wasn't for her cray cray, this would be a 5 star read. She had me struggling to give this a rating.

I love Andre. Ancient alpha male vampire hunter and total bada$$ guy, he is one sexy dude. He did this one thing that gave me pause. I thought, that's gonna come back to bite you, and it did. But once he explained why he did it, I got it. I adored him. And I really enjoyed the story, the world. I can't give it 5 stars but for Andre, I'll give it 4. He's worth every one of those stars.

Fits my paranormal obsession and I'm sure there will be more in this series for me. It's a good one.

Dark Ghost… What to say about Dark Ghost? I honestly have no idea. I’ve loved the Dark series for a long time and the books have just been getting better and better. I had high hopes of Dark Ghost but unfortunately it didn’t live up to them.

Now, I’m not saying I didn’t like the book. I did like it, it was enjoyable in itself, I just didn’t like it as much as some of the more recent ones. It was a cereal bar when I wanted chocolate.

Dark Ghost in so many ways is old school Carpathian. By that I mean, uninitiated human woman stumbling upon her life mate in his moment of need and that is that.
I loved the early books. I’ll never forget how enraptured I was when I read my first: Dark Desire. However, the series has come so far since then and this was like a complete timeout. So much happened in the “Lycan trilogy” and I was expecting an update on “world” events and got nothing.

If you were expecting interesting cameos and updates on your favourite characters, forget it. They don’t come up at all.

There is some mild peril and random sub-plots that get left hanging, which I assume will take us to the US and to the triplets in subsequent books, but nothing that got me all that excited.

It wasn’t gripping. It didn’t make my heart race or my brain spin… It was just Andre and Teagan in a cave for most of the book. I probably wouldn’t have minded that all that much if I clicked with them, but I didn’t.

The only thing I found myself fixated upon was the monastery and the inhabitants of it. I really hope we read more about them.

All in all, it was okay. If you are a long term fan of the series, it’s worth reading. If you are new to the series, don’t start with this one.

I'm very pleased that Ms. Feehan I knew is still here. Thank you for the lovely book, Christine Feehan.

Dark Ghost is such an excellent book. I don't remember ever reading a book like this by Christine Feehan. It was different and simply beautiful story. 90% of the book was just Teagan Joanes and Andre Boroi together and simply getting to know each other. Only 10% of the book involved other characters. But that 90% of the book was absolutely wonderful. Teagan Joanes is adorable and her thoughts are awkwardly cute and funny. Andre Boroi is just perfection. Sweet and thoughtful. These two moved me with their sweetness and their moments which I have to say, all of them were erotic. The last few books greatly disappointed me and Dark Ghost has easily changed my expectation. Truly enjoyed this book. The ending made me wanting more with Grandma Trixie coming to save Teagan from a foreign man who she told is her fiance and meeting the ancients in the monastery. These ancients are Carpathians who are far too close to the darkness and stopped hunting vampires in order to save their honor. Apparently, Teagan Joanes can help them ease their suffering. I cannot wait to read more about it.

This was my jump back into hetero world while I mourned the death of my kindle.

This is the 24th installment in this series and yes it was repetitive in it's general theme. Carpathian Vampire killing the Undead and trying to not sub come to being what they are hunting.

Since being gone from this type of genre for a while, this book was lacking in so many areas. She introduced information that dead end and didn't lead anywhere, the heroine was to be strong but can off whiny also even though the plot is pretty much the same in every book it was just, I hate to say lacking, again.

I'm a great fan of Christine Feehan but I won't be finishing this series even if my second Kindle dies.

Andre Boroi has his own code that he lives by but he’s been gravely wounded by a master vampire and his only chance is to disappear into the gray mist of the Carpathians to wait and to hope in this remarkable paranormal romance.

Hunted by those she once trusted, Teagan Joanes comes across an irresistible wounded warrior and the reader is drawn into the story as Teagan surrenders to a passion that she can’t possible understand. As is the way with Carpathian lifemates, the chemistry sizzles, the passion is consuming and the sex scenes are hot and steamy but Teagan is a modern woman with a bit of a temper and Andre has work cut out for him as he tries to protect her even from herself which has sparks flying in every direction in this relationship. The characters are strong, captivating and demand the reader’s attention from the very beginning and the fast paced plot captivates readers with lots of suspense, excitement and romance.

The excitement never ends as spine tingling tension builds throughout the story not only from the heated encounters between Andre and Teagan but from the danger stalking them as the master vampire and his pack are relentless and insatiable but there is still the matter of the ones hunting Teagan as well. Vivid imagery brings the story to life making it easy for the reader to feel as if they are part of the story including feeling the taint of the vampires and the well written scenes guarantee that the reader has to know what happens next.

Once again, the Carpathians enthralled me with another sexy vampire slayer from the beginning to the end but that’s not all, the author has introduced a few new characters and Teagan has some special abilities that made her the perfect lifemate for Andre and I can’t wait to visit the Carpathians again.

This is another Carpathian novel. They tend to run together for me after a while. I've read a few, but certainly not all.

The main characters spend ~85% of the book inside a cave. Andre wasn't an over-the-top alpha male, which is good because I'm very tired of the borderline-abusive, controlling, alpha male with a bad temper. He's muscle-y with long dark hair. Not my type, but he seemed okay. "Silk and velvet" was overused as a description for his voice.

Teagan is young and her age shows sometimes, but she's fun. I liked her for the most part but found the descriptions of her not quite believable. She's biracial. People of color can blush. It's a physical response, not just in light-skinned people but everyone. She has long hair to her waist (must every heroine have long hair to their waist?!). She's short and small breasted, which is fine, but the descriptions didn't fit. Really can't call it "the swell of her breast," plus they disappear if you're lying down with your arms over your head. Teagan rock climbs. The descriptions of climbing didn't match the style of the rest of the book. It was as if someone else wrote those sections and plugged them into the book.

The most notable part for me was that the ending didn't feel like an ending. It's a shorter than a usual Feehan book. Even with several instances of repetition, it was shorter than her usual. This seemed like a Part 1. Maybe that's the intention. The rest of the story will be made into Part 2.

(Aside: my friend's youngest son is named Teagan. I was trying to not imagine a small blond boy as I read this.)

I have been a loyal follower of this series... meaning I have read every single one of the Dark books. Dark Ghost really disappointed me. Nothing happened. Nothing. I don't even need to put a spoiler tag on it; that's how inconsequential the information is. Andre found his lifemate and they fought a couple of vampires. That's it. Even the main conflict that was alluded to (meeting her grandmother and trying to merge her new life with her old) never happened. There was a lot, and I mean a lot, of inane internal chatter. I get that was her personality, but damn, it was a lot. Andre found it endearing. I viewed it as nothing more than page filler and annoying. I remember the intense scenes in the beginning of the this series. The crazy connection between Prince Dubrinsky and Gregori Daratrazanoff made for an edge of your seat battle, and the struggles the men went through with their lifemates felt real... I miss the punch the earlier books had.

What a fabulous read, I so enjoyed the story of Andre and his life mate Teagan. I was hooked from the first page, so very engrossed that it was kind of a shock to come to the end. I would of liked to of read what happened when Grandma Trixie met up with them, perhaps that will be revealed in another story. As always can't get enough of the Carpathian's

Andre is an ancient Carpathian warrior. He's on the trail of a vampire. Teagan is a geologist searching for a gem or a crystal to cure her grandmother's insanity. Andre and Teagan are meant to be together. But can they make their relationship work between an ancient warrior and a modern woman?
