Fast-paced Urban Fantasy and

Book three of the series follows Erik and his team as they collaborate with Raphael, an angel assigned a specific virtue, to identify and neutralize the source of the Sin of Envy. This book has compelling character development and a meticulously structured plot.

With his characteristic wit and sarcasm, Erik Ashendale is at it again. While, at times, I wished there was a bit more detail regarding the Sins story arc, Attard's characters more than make up for it. The main character's relationships keep the fantastical action elements from overwhelming the story and provide points where the reader can relate to what Erik is feeling, even if the events themselves aren't relatable. I look forward to seeing where the next story takes Erik and the rest of the crew.

Lost Ones is a fast-paced, action packed read that kept me hooked from the first chapter. Erik Ashendale is the kind of character you can’t help but root for sarcastic, flawed, but determined to get the job done no matter how impossible it looks. The mix of wizard terrorists, rogue angels, and otherworldly monsters really made the story feel fresh and unpredictable. I especially enjoyed how the stakes kept rising, making it hard to put the book down. If you enjoy urban fantasy with a blend of humor, danger, and a touch of the supernatural, this one is definitely worth picking up.

Lost Ones is a fun book written by Runa Attard. this book is the third on in the Legacy series, and I admit I am fully hooked at this point. There are a few moments that leave you kind of wondering how you got to the point you are at, but you end up just kind of going with it. This seems to be happening a few times in this series and you end up getting used to it. There is some sort of explanation out of the blue for everything somehow but since this series has quite the entertainment value you end up not caring :)

There are so many twists and turns you sometimes wonder where is up and down. How the author manages sometimes is beyond me but he does and I am happy with how things end up in the end. The plot is rather intricate so keep up. There are some hard decisions the author makes that I wish he didn't, and how he makes them I just don't understand, like killing of certain characters, and no I won't tell which I am not a spoiler provider. The pace of the book is on the faster side, or at least it feels that way since there is always something happening and you can barely catch your breath. I like that about this series quite a bit since it is constant entertainment!

So let's talk about the characters. Erik is quite something else. His anger often gets the better of him and you wonder how he manages sometimes. As you go along in the series, and this is from currently reading book 7, it does make sense but I often wish he was just a tad less angry and less foul mouthed, especially since he does have his side kick Amaymon who clearly has plenty of foul language to make up for an entire country!

The more you learn about Amaymon the more fascinating he becomes! He is not just a simple cat/demon and even though he is quite the perverted foul mouthed demon he has quite a fascinating side to him that you will learn more and more about as time goes on.

I also like Abi, but her and Gil are not my favorite characters. I like what they add to the story and I am glad they are part of it, but that is about as much as there is to them as of right now. There are a few others that I really like and some that are still waiting to shine in my opinion.

This series has a ton of entertainment value. It could use some smoothing of the edges and there are still some editorial errors in this book that should be removed but other than that I am definitely enjoying it, clearly since I am currently reading book 7 and I have read all the others as well.

Loved this! This streamlined version is all about the action. Erik continues to evolve and so do the ones he most cares about by extension. How the characters affect each other and the world around them have consequences.
Can and should they depend on each other? Emotions are high in this book. Continue to love this urban fantasy and its worth a reread. Wizards, cat/ demon, ongoing backstory and lots of snark!
I received this book from the author and am happy to leave this reveiw

Lost Ones

When Gil contacts Erik and asks him to protect a transportation device he has no idea what his sister is getting him into.
This really is the best book in the series so far. Ryan Attard's characters are becoming better with each novel and the story was gripping from beginning to end.
Highly recommended.

Love it

Really enjoying this series. Amaymon is wonderful. Along with About. I really hope he and Gil has things out and what their teacher said becomes known to them both. I miss that dynamic. Loving it so far.

A strong continuation of a well-thought-out and exciting series, The Lost Ones takes Erik Ashendale to new heights of danger, as he saves the world yet again with a bit of help.

Loving the cat!

This is my review of the first 3 books of the Legacy series.
I downloaded the fist book while on vacation in Jacksonville Beach Florida. The forecast was for rain so I thought I will have something to read while indoors. It was a Amazon recommendation.
I started the book and got pulled in the these colorful characters and this magic users story. I kinda got so into this first book that I didn't notice it never rained, I was hold up reading instead of out playing on the beaches.
I just love the smart moth of the cat!
I have seen Ryan compared to Jim Butcher with humor.
And that is about right, plus, a very good author to be compared to.
I finished the 3 books and I can feel his writing becoming stronger, more mature. With his constant bantering still humorous.
I did find the monsters hard to picture. My thought is that a tiny bit more realistic foes would be more to my liking. I just had hard time picturing all these monsters with so many different animals morphed together. But it took some out of the box thinking to come up,with them.

Make up your mind

Book 1 was ok, book 2 I enjoyed, but there is no understanding the magic in book 3. The main character can't beat a powerful wizard that seems less capable than the foe he beat in the previous book. He has no understanding of his power which was ok two books ago, but now is just irritating. He seems to know what he can't supposedly stand up against, then does it anyway. It would be ok if it was David vs Goliath, but the descriptions make it to be a such a power difference it defies reason that he comes out on top. On a side note the anti-religion reaches the point of insulting this time around. End of the series for me.

*** If you have NOT read the free short stories yet, read them BEFORE you start this book.***

The story continues with some innovative ideas. There could be a little more carry over from previous stories as I forgot who Jack was from book 1. I thought the author got way off in left field at one time, but he brought it around. The book is chock FULL of action to the point that I would put it down just to catch my figurative breath. So keep at it Mr. Attard, it's getting better and better.

P.S. Still needs a better proofreader.

Great read. In many ways Eric reminds me of a young Corwin in Roger Zelazny's Amber novels. It has everything. Nonstop action, warlocks, talking cats, magic, sarcasm, humor and in this story the focus is primarily on Eric, although his apprentices appear early. I very much enjoyed this book & the only negative thing about it is now I have to wait for the author to write the next one!. It was a cannot put down story. Thank you Ryan Attard

This story was pretty good. To me, it felt like there was a lot of hand waving as far as the plot went. He tried to shove some things in that didn't quite fit but worked okay. The protagonist seems a little too out reach for me, and some of his actions felt more like he was doing them for the sake of plot rather than because that's what he would do.

I'll continue with the series if there's more to come. It's far from the best I've, but much farther from the worst.

New favorite author

Ok,the 1st book is Firstborn and the 2nd is Birthright and you absolutely need to read them in order. The series' main character reminds me of Harry Dresden with his gumption, sense of justice and magic. But it's a fresh storyline and that's so cool. Can't wait for book #4.

What!? Is this the end

I am addicted. If you love Harry Dresdon, you will love Erik Ashendale. The story is good with new approaches to standard urban fantasy. Strong supporting characters including a talking cat, a succubus, and an elemental. Please tell me there is more coming! You can't just leave us in Heaven! I highly recommend.

This is the first book from the series that stuck with me. I was somewhat dreading reading it again. Even though I loved it, I remembered how much I cried during some of the events. That is, of course, one of the things people say when something touches them, “They were moved to tears”. So, well done, Ryan.

You Don't Suck, Ryan

I enjoyed this series. I liked the easy humor and the awful monsters. In the end, there was a little bit too much fighting, but that could just be me.
Anyway, good series for people who like the snarky warlock humor genre.

Best one yet

The series just keeps getting better. While it reminds me of some others in this genre, it has really started to differentiate itself.

More of the same

The book is a good read but the pattern is becoming a bit stagnant as well as revelations about the curse.
