A good starting point

This book is an easy introduction to astronomy by the renown astronomer, Patrick Moore.
Some parts are slightly out of date, but this does not detract from the large amount of interesting information provided.

This is an amazing book. It is well written and starts at an absolute beginner level and moves into quite advanced astronomy.



I enjoyed reading this book and wish I had read it earlier in life. I have always been a fan of Sir Patrick's and while reading this I got a real sense of his quick talking and encyclopedic knowledge of the night sky.
Some later ideas and concepts could be a little tough for some non scientists, however, if you're a young astronomer or scientist and are unsure as to what you wish to study beyond school, this book will help you make an educated decision.

"Astronomy: A Complete Introduction" is the first Sir Patrick Moore's book I've read. It lays the concepts of classical astronomy: the study of celestial bodies in the skies, the positions of stars each month, and a glimpse into the universe without any other complicated modern astronomy involved. If you are already familiar with astronomy and want a quick review, I'd recommend this one for you. Yet, for those who are new to astronomy, I'd recommend "Origin by Neil deGrasse Tyson", but if you want something more basic, this book is for you.
