The third issue features the mostly reunited Umbrella Academy as they go against a bunch of killer robots who attack an amusement park. Led by Dr. Terminal, they wreak havoc as the siblings go on the defence.

Vanya tries to approach the team, but when Kraken shuns her, she turns to an offer she wanted to refuse.

I love the sibling rivalry, the unsettling air around everything, and that no matter how hard these guys try, the apocalypse keeps getting closer.

These characters are so interesting! The pace of the overall story seems to speed ahead sometimes, but you somehow never miss anything. Plus, the way everything unfolds invites your own mind to fill in the blanks.

Also, The Boy is totally fascinating. An old man in a child's body who's stop aging. I'm definitely interested in this!

This issue is full of so much fiery action, that the flames almost leapt off the bright pages. Still loving the art.

The following is a review for the six parts that make up the first volume, as it is difficult to review each individual part alone.

I’ve heard a lot about The Umbrella Academy, so I decided it was finally time to dive into the first volume – Apocalypse Suite – and give it a try. I’ll be honest and say that I’m not the biggest fan of graphic novels, in fact I’m super picky, but I was curious enough to dive in.

Apocalypse Suite was an interesting introduction to The Umbrella Academy world, and I happily devoured this in no time. Although it was an easy read that had me curious about how things would play out, it did not wow me quite as much as I had hoped it would. There were quite a few things that were never quite as clear as I had hoped, and this stopped me from being fully invested.

All in all, interesting but not quite for me.

An almost completely reunited umbrella academy goes up against a bunch of killer robots.
The storyline is quite predictable, yet there’s something compelling about this series.

P.s. Kraken wtf

3/6 The Umbrella Academy

This action packed issue leaves little space to really focus on the characters, I wish there were more pages so I could get acquainted with the team properly. I'm getting really fond of the art that is just fascinating.

So who is doctor terminus and why did he program robots to go after the umbrella academy so long ago? Turns out he was a man with Eisenstein syndrome, which was a disease that eats the from the inside. So he developed a device that eats matter and converts it into energy to feed the disease and keep him alive. Unfortunately it gets very hungry, and little girls like rumor taste a lot better than doctors. But somehow he knows that he will never beat the umbrella academy…but that doesn’t mean he has to stop trying! So even after they kick him away in that “terrible place,” I believe has also been referred to as the “hotel,” (more on that in vol 3) he setup a little trap for them in the future. Back then number 1 was able to save rumor, and now we come back to the present with 1,3, and 4 fighting the robots terminus setup to deploy in the future. All the while Vanya sees the commotion, and in the cab she booked, is trying to get down there as fast as possible. Five on the other hand is stuck back at the academy with Pogo, nd their now limbed mother (who he barely knows), as they try and figure out his predicament of being a 60 year old on a 10 year old’s body. Even more shocking to five…he isn’t aging! His body is stuck in time. But he doesn’t care about that right now, his clock may be stopped but the clock on the end of the world is still ticking and he needs to search for clues. Plus being the oldest human being in the room he doesn’t care much for their advice, lol.

But where is kraken during this fight? After all we saw him run off first. Turns out he is currently bleeding out in the tunnel of terror…only to realize that a few of those bots are on their way in…with a few kids trying to hide inside as well! These bots are merciless as well, according to the news they have already killed children. Luckily with the dual effort outside, and kraken fighting within, the members of the umbrella academy are able to destroy the bots. Primarily with 1’s use of a light pole he ripped out, and 2’s knives. But suddenly Vanya arrives to the fight to try and help…only to almost end up in a million pieces to a missile if it wasn’t for Kraken diving and shoving her down to the ground. But then the mood immediately shifted. She left the family and wrote that book about them, and now they treat her like an outsider and a traitor. She wants to help and needs to tell them something, but Kraken doesn’t want to hear any of it, and spaceboy doesn’t try and defend her…as such, just as the conductor predicted, Vanya was sent crying and running from her family. Spaceboy is more than aware that everything they just did was useless. Terminus hasn’t escaped the hotel, no one can, and this is just his sick game with the end of the world still on its way. As the issue comes to a close we cut back to the orchestra, to see the conductor blowing the brains out of anyone playing wrong. I wonder if he was running or dragging? Either way the face of the conductor lights up as Vanya arrives to give a performance, the family she thought she had, will never forget.

I actually would love to see this issue to be on screen. I think it'd be such an epic battle. Also, Five. You're still my favorite. And not-so-newsflash, apparently Vanya has been bitch from the beginning. Quite unexpected, but not surprised.

A Battle!

I loved seeing the siblings actually in a battle and how Luther still insists on commanding his siblings. The rejection of Vanya stung so bad, especially after reading how she appreciated Diego as a brother.

Not much here

Not a lot here to move the plot forward. Not even sure where this is going. Characters seem to have no redeeming qualities.

Well that was confusing

Considering I watched the Netflix show first, I have learned that there are no similarities at all. I will continue to read the rest though.

This issue wasn't *quite* as interesting as the last one-More of a catch-up, with a somewhat predictable ending! :P
But still a good continuation to the story & I'm now really interested in what issue 4 will bring! O_o
