The bedroom door flew open with a powerful crash. “What the...?” Mary exclaimed. Mike nodded. “Yeah, well see, that’s the problem,” he said with a sigh. “You brought someone home with you tonight.” “What?” “And it looks like she’s not real happy about your relationship with Bradley,” he said. “I have a jealous ghost in my house?” Mary asked, astonished. Mike shook his head apologetically. “No, sweetheart,” he said. “You have a jealous poltergeist in your home.” As if on cue, the drawers in Mary’s dresser opened, and her clothing started flying across the room. Mary turned back to Mike. “Really?” she asked. “Like I need this now?” She walked into the center of her bedroom and immediately was hit in the face by a pair of her own underwear. And this time she was sure of it. She heard a giggle, and then suddenly the entire room was filling with swirling clothing. Bradley came running into the room and the ruckus ended. “What happened?” he asked. “I think I just met one of your former girlfriends,” Mary said, pulling a pair of underwear from out of her neckline. “And I don’t think she was very happy to meet me.”
Terri Reid is the author of the Mary O’Reilly Paranormal Mysteries. An indie author, Reid uploaded her first book “Loose Ends” in August 2010. By the end of 2012, “Loose Ends” had sold over 82,000 copies and, as of the writing of this bio, was the number one bestselling book in Amazon’s ranking of Ghost Stories in the Book/Literature & Fiction/Genre Fiction/Horror/Ghosts section and the number two in the same area in the Kindle eBooks section. She has eight other books in the Mary O’Reilly Series and has enjoyed Top Rated and Hot New Release status for many of them in the Women Sleuths category through Amazon US. Her books have been translated into Spanish and Portuguese and are also now available through CreateSpace and Amazon in print versions. She is also working on an audiobook for “Loose Ends.” Reid has been quoted in several books about the self-publishing industry, including “Let’s Get Digital” by David Gaughran and “Interviews with Indie Authors: Top Tips from Successful Self-Published Authors” by Claire and Tim Ridgway. She was also honored to have some of her works included in A. J. Abbiati’s book “The NORTAV Method for Writers—The Secrets to Constructing Prose Like the Pros.” She has also had the distinct privilege of guest blogging for Joe Konrath. Reid is from Northwest Illinois, near the town of Freeport, the home of her fictional characters. Her background is in marketing and public relations. She is married, the mother of seven children, and the grandmother of twenty-three. She has her grandchildren convinced that she talks to fairies and animals - and they talk back.
When Mike tells Mary that they need to go to Bradley's high school reunion, she looks forward to a night of music and dancing. What she doesn't anticipate is the poltergeist that followed them home, very angry at Mary for being with Bradley. Then Mike brings her another pair of ghosts who are afraid their son had them killed in an auto accident. All this and seven months pregnant...can Mary handle this or is it time to hang up her ghost helping shoes! Reading these stories is like visiting with an old friend...the familiar characters and interesting ghostly adventures, and throughout the love of family and friends. I am already looking forward to Mary's next adventure.
Book 16 of the Mary O'Reilly series has a very pregnant (but still with a couple of months to go--it seems like she has been that way *forever* now) Mary getting into her usual trouble thanks mostly to (angel) Mike and husband Bradley. Mike tells her to go to Bradley's high school reunion and they end up being followed home by a very angry teenage poltergeist from the past who appears to want Bradley for herself and isn't above doing harm to Mary to get him. Mike also leads her to a ghostly elderly couple who died in a car accident that they think their son might have caused to get their money. And, Mike also asks Mary to help an old friend of Bradley's who came back from serving overseas depressed and it may have a paranormal basis instead of PSTD. The usual gang is on hand to help Mary in solving these cases but potential danger of injury to her and her unborn baby boy from the poltergeist cause Bradley and Mary herself to wonder if her career and life's mission of helping the departed is too much.
Another good entry in the series of quick-read paranormal mysteries. I am happy we haven't gone back to the demons of a few books ago and looking forward to seeing what happens next for Mary and her family. If the series is new to you, start at the beginning and if you have Kindle Unlimited, this series and its off-shoots are part of the program, always a bonus.
I LOVED this installment! I found myself up all night just to finish, looking up the song "Some Strange Things Happen in This World", and laughing at her references to Ann Charles and Deadwood. Not only do I get to enjoy some of my most favorite characters ever written, but I got one great story to boot! Who knows, perhaps they really are a borrowed pair of purple cowboy boots.
Wow, that was crazy! Bradley's dad came back for like 2 seconds and he finds out why they were killed! Maybe they will elaborate on this in the next book. Crazy Julie was fierce. Maybe Mary will toughen up a bit with entities and not always expect the best in them.
Terri Reed never fails to satisfy! I have been a fan since her first book and I can hardly wait for the next one. Sharp dialogue, great character development and highly complex story lines are all hallmarks of her talent. This entry deals with unresolved family issues - both in her husband's family as well as those of friendly ghosts seeking resolution. Her helpers from beyond are there when needed. This is a feel good book. Read it (and all the others) and you won't be disappointed.
Deadly Circumstances- A Mary O'Reilly Paranormal Mystery ( Book 16)
I loved this Author so much, All of your books are so fantastic, full of excitement, mystery, suspense, and of course romance. Now I'm left with a "cliff hanger", What happens next. When is Book 17 coming out and can I per-order it?
I have read All your stories already, Love them so much. Thanks for sharing your stories with us.
I absolutely love love Mary and Bradley. I didn't want this story to end. I wanted it to continue with Mary giving birth to Mikey. Margo and Rick were nice new characters. I hope to hear more from them. I actually like all the characters in the series. I keep wanting to read more about all of them.
I love all of the Mary O'Reilly series, this one is no exception. Terri manages to keep so many balls in the air with all the different things going on and brings a lot of humor into otherwise sad events. I love each and every one of her colorful characters. Can't wait for the next book.
I will admit that I am a big fan of this author. Her books are always given a priority of going to the top of my reading list. A mystery with humor and paranormal. Good reading for anyone and a page turner.
Yet another awesome addition to Mary's crazy life. I love the Mary O'Reilly series, The Wild Hunt with Sean, The Blackwoods Files with Art. I don't know how Terri does it but I'm glad she does. Amazing author.
I have read all the books in the series and love them. Can't wait for the next one! I love how Terri Reid brings the characters in her books alive with so much personality.
Another fabulous book by a great writer. I love how you pulled Deadwood and all that applies with it into your book!! And I lol so many times!! Love love love this series!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I always enjoy Terri Reid's books. I love her characters and her stories move along well, with enough excitement to keep me reading. Highly recommended.
I LOVE this series. In all honesty, I have suffered for years from clinical depression, and was suffering from a very serious downturn. This series helped get me through. The friendship, the camaraderie, the family, the love and laughter, helped tremendously. It was extremely helpful in getting me to that turning point back to me.
I laughed till my belly hurt, then cried until I couldn't see the words. I felt anger and betrayal for those whose journey was suspended. I found redemption, grace, and, most of all, hope. I loved the ghosts/spirits (except for those malevolent ones), the mortals, the story lines and resolutions. I loved the lessons these stories conveyed, and the poignancy with which they were told.
I have several favorite characters, Mary and Bradley (and, by extension, Clarissa), being the foundation. Ian is someone I want to meet, and get to know, and just listen to him talk. Hopefully, he wears the black shirt (but don't tell Gillian I said that...it's strictly platonic, I swear). Mike. Dear Mike. I cried so hard for him for some reason, especially the role he was given. It was a sweetness that I didn't even know i was craving. I love Mike. I want Mike on my side. Always. Rosie & Stanley, such a opposites-attract couple, yet full of love. The O'Reilly clan. Can I move in with them?? Or maybe just visit Ireland with Sean??
I suspended all other reading until I got through the entire series, and feel as though these characters are my friends and family. Please, please, please, give me more!
Note: I would love to give this series 4 1/2 stars, or even 5, but the grammatical and punctuation errors just don't cut it for me. Miss Terri, your writing is superb. Let it be polished until it glows. Let me be your proofreader (beta reader?).
Did you get a class reunion invitation either ignore it, trash it or RSVP not attending. They are not as important today as back 50'-80's. People move around have moved on from home towns and don't spend their vacation sitting around with the old people like my generation an I've only been invited twice over 50 years. That makes this book unique
Thi book raise an interesting dilemma for the character. She is due to have a baby in 2 months and always seems to get pummeled in each book. Almost got thrown down stairs in this one. How does she resolve helping the ghosts with having a young child. Interesting to see where it goes.
I have read all the previous books in this series. I had wondered at what point would I grow bored of them. Now I know that point would be well after book 17
