Last Ride is the highly anticipated fourth book in the Gideon Johann Western series. It joins #1 bestseller novels on Amazon.com in Western Classics, Last Stand, Last Chance, and Last Hope. Now with a fresh edit.

Somebody is hanging innocent people in Last Stand, Colorado. Sheriff Gideon Johann has his hands full trying to solve the murders as well as all the other shenanigans that go on in a town of the Old West. He also is learning that fatherhood and a toddler are about as much work as catching outlaws. Gideon’s daughter Joann is now married to Zack Barlow and the couple is finding out that marriage is a lot of give and take while still enjoying the joys of being newlyweds. Deputy Finnie Ford and saloon owner Mary Sawyer continue their unlikely romance through the difficulties that life always seems to throw their way.

Duane Boehm has written another western novel with enough humor, heartbreak, love, and outlaws to keep you turning the page.

Last Ride can be read as a stand-alone novel, but will provide a richer reading experience if Last Stand, Last Chance, and Last Hope are read first.

Duane Boehm grew up on a farm outside of Petersburg, Illinois. All the time spent driving a tractor gave him plenty of opportunity to let his imagination run wild and not tear up too much equipment. The two passions he developed early in life were the love of playing guitar and reading books.

He eventually moved to a mini-farm outside of Murfreesboro, Tennessee with his wife and replaced planting corn with trees and raising dogs. For a number of years he worked as an IT consultant and continued with being a part-time musician and songwriter. He dabbled in writing short stories with the idea in the back of his mind that someday he would write a novel. One Christmas after watching "A Christmas Carol", he was inspired to begin his journey as a novelist.

The story keeps getting better…

After reading the first couple of books in this series, I wondered how it could continue getting better or even keep my interest. I’ve read hundreds of books and sometimes I get bored with a series that’s more than 3 books long so I never finish it.

I can honestly say that I can’t wait to continue reading this one after finishing book 4. I think it’s due to the author introducing new characters that I am interested in.

I love Gideon, but the stories are not totally centered on him. I’m cheering for Mary and Finnie to have a good life after all they’ve been through. Doc is one of my favorites and I’m hoping his long, lost son, John, comes to visit again from Boston. I’m also cheering for Charlotte, the young lady who ran away from Paradise after being forced into marriage to an old man she despises. I’m even hoping the best for Delta, the last whore Mary forced into retirement from the business when she discontinued that service in her Saloon.
I’m anxious to read book 5 of 7 in the Duane Boehm’s series set in a small Western town called Last Stand…

Just gets better

The setting is about a year after the last one, many changes making for a new thrilling western though still tied to the last few books. As always romance blooms and Gideon has to face down bad guys while trying to solve a local murder. What can I say the next book is about to be read.

All four of this series have been a breath of fresh air. After reading many other authors, I have a particular soft spot for this author. Well written, Duane, I hope you never run out of "lasts". Well done.

Easy to read with limited key names.

Excellent use of multiple story lines, all tied together to read as ONE well written element of multiple heroes.
Thank you.
