I looked up at Calloway and then over to Baltimore. “Are you telling me Pippa is inside that body bag? That she’s dead?”
It’s been nearly a year since Rob Chandler drove headlong into a telephone pole, on a deserted road outside Kingman, Arizona. He survived the crash, even the 30,000-volt high-power cable that dangled inches from his head. But he didn’t come away from the incident anywhere near the same man he was before. On the negative side, he was hearing strange voices in his head; on the positive side, he’d gained the ability to look deep into others’ minds … and influence their thoughts.
Now an agent for the small, covert, SIFTR Agency, Chandler is confronted with the possibility something terrible has occurred to a beloved fellow agent. He knows who is responsible, the WWZ, which is the same fanatical Neo-Nazi organization he’d dealt with only months earlier, in Baden Baden, Germany—and another, even more powerful organization, called the Order. Together they are making their move—one that could alter the geopolitical landscape of the United States, forever.
The newly selected multi-billionaire leader of the Order, Rudy Palmolive, has a unique hobby … he’s built an 1881 re-creation of the town of Tombstone … and it’s something else, it’s a testing ground for those interested in joining his diabolical organization. When Chandler infiltrates the town, he‘ll need more than his unique mental capabilities … he’ll need to draw his Colt .45 Peacemaker faster than the man going by the name, Billy the Kid.
Worth the time it takes to read both books. I enjoy reading books by this author his story lines are developed well and the characters are believable. at times the plot gets a little bogged down with too much minutia. In my opinion the vilans don't get punished enough. But it's not my book. Overall a good book.
I'd like to read more about the"Entity" in the electricity. I didn't like the Deus Machina part but it worked and the story is good enough to ignore it.All in all a good book!
Because he can read minds and works for a secret government agency, Rob is put in the position of saving the world. Well written with very believable characters. Ready for book 3.
Deadly Powers is a good follow-up story in the Tapped In series. There are a few things I have issues with but still enjoyed the way they were used including Rob Chandler's Dr. Doolittle like ability to talk to the animals. It was a cute way to move the story forward.
Some of the other plot lines seemed a bit far-fetched also but I'm reading for enjoyment not realism. So it's all good. This was a fun book and I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series.
This is like those James Bond films from the 70's. Mind-reading... sure. A talking dog, injections that turn you into an exact double for famous people, and a world controlling cabal from the 1800s... um?
Meh. Better than the first but even though I want to see where this entity in his head leads to, I kind of don't care. What happened to the sons who he supposedly created Tombstone for?
This book, Deadly Powers, is different from my 'normal' sci-fi genre. It was fun to write, so I'm happy it was well-received. Thanks to Jeffrey Weiss for this review:
I read the first Deadly Powers book by Mark and really enjoyed it. Much different than the Scrap Yard Ship series but a great story. I enjoyed book two of Deadly Powers even more. The covert agency, SIFTER, similar to the CIA, then the uniqueness of the Tombstone town and the Neo-Nazi connection makes for a wild ride
I have enjoyed all of Mark’s books, especially the Scrap yard ship series. I think this series will be every bit as good. Looking forward to more.
