Bad Oak Boys #2

Alpha Shaman

Rate this book
**MPREG ROMANCE**

The world isn’t ready for a rock star werewolf, but Josh Oakley can’t stop biology. When his brother sends sexy wolf shaman Gerwulf to help him, instinct is too mild a word for how he feels. Gerwulf calls to his animal in a way that defies logic.

Gerwulf knows Josh is his mate the moment they meet, but he doesn’t like guys and he doesn’t intend to bond with anyone. He’ll help the musician control his wolf, but getting too close isn’t his intention. Besides, he wouldn’t know what to do with a man in his bed.

Of course, shifters can’t dodge fate—a crisis forces Josh and Gerwulf to accept their connection just in time to save Forst Pack from an old enemy. When biology ties them together beyond even a mating bond, will they be able to move past their fear and into a future that holds more than they ever expected?

This was book 2 in the "Bad Oak Boys" series. Josh Oakley who is the guitarist and back up singer for the band Bad Oak watched his big brother Ryan turn into a wolf and meet his mate and fall in love. While out on a mini tour with the rest of the group he is singing lead when his wolf starts to come out. Gerwulf is the shaman heir who is sent to help Josh with his wolf. Turns out Josh is his mate but he is having problems with it because he isn't gay. This was a really good book Josh had problems accepting the fact that he is a wolf like his brother and he is the Beta of the pack when he has his first shift he scares Gerwulf with his power and energy. After messing around these two decide to mate and it was hot while they were in the act the old Shaman who is Bardulf's grandfather dies and he gets all of his energy but he knows that danger is coming. This was a really good read I liked both of these character's Gerwulf whose parents weren't very nice to him and he was worried about how they would take him having a male mate. Josh who was laid back and didn't care what people thought he has been bi since his teen years. When they realize that the witch who was out to get the old Shaman because he divorced his wife her sister when he found his mate a male they have to stop her. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series about bad boy Rock Stars turning into werewolves.

"The longer he stood there, the more agitated his wolf became. Josh didn’t feel like just another pack member. He felt like the other half of his soul. Which, shit. That’s bad. Very, very bad."

As I mentioned at the end of my review for 'Rock Star Baby', I jumped immediately into this second book in a series I'm finding fascinating. I liked Josh so much as Ryan's little brother, and I couldn't wait to see how much havoc he was going to bring to Gerwulf's new, peaceful Shaman-Heir lifestyle. *cackles*

Josh and the guys are doing a tour without Ryan, as he's at home with his son, Fenris, and his mate. It's a good thing for Josh to be the frontman and show everyone what he's capable of. Unfortunately, Josh's dormant shifter genes are coming to the forefront, and they mostly have to do with Gerwulf, his mate. Gerwulf has spent the past three years training and living in seclusion with the pack's Alpha-Shaman, trying desperately to prove to the pack that he regrets being that obnoxious, arrogant jerk he used to be. Gerwulf can't exactly explain that most of that attitude came from how he was raised, so instead he's trying to work on being a better person. Now, if he can just let his past and the fear he carries from it go, he'll be much better off.

"Look. We’re mated. You made the choice to accept me. To accept your position in Forst Pack. It’s all good. Don’t let your past destroy what you’ve created.” He paused. “What we’ve created together.”

'Alpha Shaman' was so exciting and incredibly fascinating. The Forst pack was being targeted by a very old enemy, one Ralf, the Alpha-Shaman, thought long gone. Instead, she returned and took Ralf's life, leaving Gerwulf unprepared for his new role as Shaman. To defeat this threat it took all of Josh and Gerwulf's combined abilities as Beta and Shaman, respectively, to defeat this witch on the psychic and physical plane, rescuing many of her victims in the end.

It's definite. I'm totally, 100 percent hooked on the 'Bad Oak Boys' series. Josh and Gerwulf were fabulous together, and again, I'm really enjoying the way the author is writing the mpreg portions of the stories. Definitely the most realistic of any in this trope that I have read so far. I can't wait to jump into Silas's story next.

The nature of this book is "I DENY DENY DENY!!!!!"EVERYTHING!!!!( just had an flash of Charlie Brown shouting out them words)

I guess anyone would be in a deep well of doubt as well if the following had occurred though:

Sexual freedom to mate monogamy
Human to werewolf
Straight to gay instantaneously
Male to pregnant

The only thing that irks me is the fact that the theme of denial that raged prevalent in the first book of this series has leaked into this one as well & almost the similar pregnancy scenario occurs & yet both characters are speechless as if it had never happened before.

Although I guess when the impossible becomes possible in one's own life than shock is inevitable.Despite that minor detail this series has gotten better with each book released.

What I liked :
- Actually I'm not fond of reluctant-mate plot. But this one works with me.

All I can say is WOW! Absolutely adored this sequel to Rock Star Baby! Ms. Leaf has done it again and I cannot wait for Book 3. The romance between Josh and Gerulf is hot enough to singe eyebrows, and the love scenes are emotional and sexy. The world building just keeps getting better and better, and it was so cool getting to see characters from the first book and how they are evolving along with the story line in this book. The suspense is off the charts as well, as Josh and Gerulf and their pack try to find and defeat their enemy. The hints we get about Ryan and Josh’s cousins in this book are enough to make this reader salivate for the next installment of Bad Oak Boys. Quite simply, if you loved the first book, then you are going to be screaming for the next one by the time you finish Alpha Shaman. I for one cannot wait, just stellar writing all the way around. This one is a keeper for sure!

Well, this one certainly explained how a male werewolf shifter births a baby... "CATCH"!!! ;p

I really enjoyed this short, shifter story! I have always had a soft spot for shifters and for mpreg, so this one had a good chance of working for me and it did!!! Gerwulf, love that name, and Josh set eyes on each other and was straight to gay for Gerwulf... you gotta love shifter books! *grin*

There were a couple of dark spots (evil witches always add to the plot), but they weren't too bad and one or two threads that were left dangling, but that's Ok because there are more books in this series!!!

Well, I didn't like this one as much as the first book. It started a bit weird like I skipped some chapters but I let it go and kept reading, I liked the main leads but I would have like to know more about them.
And what I didn't like the most was that it took a darker tone midway through, with Ralf's death.
It was a bit unexpected, at least when we consider the tone of the first book. In that one things turned ugly at the end and everything happened quite fast, in this one things change halfway and they keep almost until the end with the showdown against the crazy witch.
I expected something a bit lighter I hope the next one is like that.

4.5 Heart Review by Tammy

Josh Oakley is now the lead singer in his rock band The Bad Oak Boy’s. He’s taken over the position for his brother Ryan for the rest of the current tour. As far as Josh knew he was human, unlike his brother Ryan who discovered he was mate and co-leader to the Forst Pack’s Leader Bardulf. Apparently, not every sibling will be able to change into his animal, the ones that do normally have to meet their true mate before they get an inkling they’ll be able to change. And then he starts having the weirdest dreams, more like nightmares and when he wakes up there is always “dog” hair in his bed!

When Shaman-Heir Gerwulf gets the news he was needed to help an adult whose wolf is trying to make an appearance with no mate in sight and he’s never changed before, he is understandably very nervous. He’s not very well liked in the pack because of his parents and the fact that he was an asshole when he was a teenager. To make matters worse he’s being sent to help the co-leader’s brother Josh who he humiliated himself in front of when he was sixteen!

When Josh answers his door Gerwulf can hardly believe it, they’re mates! He’s devastated because he’s straight, he’s never had these feelings for anyone other than women. Josh doesn’t care, he’s known he was bi-sexual since he was a teenager. When he gets a whiff of Gerwulf he can’t believe his instant reaction to him and it means that his brother was right, when you come across your mate you know instantly who they are! It takes Josh quite a while to convince Gerwulf that it’s perfectly fine for two men to be mates. When Gerwulf’s mentor comes up missing, they have to leave the tour and return to pack lands to help search for him. This is when Gerwulf and Josh discover that Gerwulf is in fact an Alpha Shaman, the strongest Shaman there can ever be and he realises he will need every bit of his new-found strength. It is whilst they are fighting for their lives that everyone discovers that Gerwulf is pregnant through the magic gifted to him when his mentor died.

I must say I enjoyed Alpha Shaman a lot more that I thought I would as I’ve never read an m-preg book before! The only disappointing thing about this book is that you don’t actually go through the entire birth scene. I wanted to at least read about a male giving birth! If you’ve never read an m-preg book before then The Bad Oak Boys is definitely the series to start with.

Bad Oak Boys 2

The world isn’t ready for a rock star werewolf, but Josh Oakley can’t stop biology. When his brother sends sexy wolf shaman Gerwulf to help him, instinct is too mild a word for how he feels. Gerwulf calls to his animal in a way that defies logic.

Gerwulf knows Josh is his mate the moment they meet, but he doesn’t like guys and he doesn’t intend to bond with anyone. He’ll help the musician control his wolf, but getting too close isn’t his intention. Besides, he wouldn’t know what to do with a man in his bed.

When biology ties them together beyond even a mating bond, will they be able to move past their fear and into a future that holds more than they ever expected?

Summary:

It was fascinating how Gerwulf changed from an angry young man who opposed the new alpha in his pack in the first book to a shaman-heir in training under the very powerful Shaman Ralf of the Forst Pack. Gerwulf is determined to prove himself so when he is given the task to help Alpha Ryan's brother Josh he accepts the challenge. What he never expected was the instant and overwhelming mate attraction between them. He also didn't know how life on the road with Josh's band Bad Oak Boys would test Gerwulf's resistance to their mate bond. Josh's struggle to accept and learn to control his wolf allowed the reader to understand the depth of his inner conflict. The growing love between Gerwulf and Josh was at odds with Gerwulf's vow to never fall in love, but when Josh was determined to get something he refused to take no for an answer, to their ultimate delight! I enjoyed revisiting the continuing lives of many of the characters in the first book. Experiencing the life of a rock star from the members of the Bad Oak band was incredible and I can't wait for the next book in the Bad Oak Boys series.

Josh thinks that he is human, although he is aware of the werewolf gene in his family. However, when he starts having strange dreams and shedding fur, he admits he might be in trouble. He rings Ryan (his brother) who sends out a Shaman who will help him. When Josh and Gerwulf first meet, the wolves both agree that they have found their mates, although the human halves still need convincing. Evil is on the way though, so they may not have as much time as they would like.

This is the first of the Bad Oak Boys that I have read, although I didn't feel that it negatively impacted my enjoyment in any way. Alpha Shaman is full of action, romance, and yes, even grief. I could understand Gerwulf's hang-ups from his past and liked how he worked through them, with Josh's help. Josh and Gerwulf are both excellent characters, well-rounded and with their own quirks.

I have enjoyed this story, and am now looking forward to reading Rock Star Baby, which is book one in this series.

When I first read Rock Star Baby, I was determined to read the rest of the series. Unfortunately, it didn't happen but now I have another chance and I'm taking it. I fell in love with Ryan and Bardulf and now it's Ryan's brother, Josh's turn. His love interest, Gerwulf wasn't a great guy in RSB, but two years have passed and he's changed for the better. When Ryan sends Gerwulf to help Josh with his first shift, they discover that they're mates. One thing I really like about this series is that the mates don't automatically fall in love. There's attraction for sure but the feelings develop as their bond grows. I also love how the pack is growing and evolving and I'm really curious to see how Ryan and Josh's cousins/bandmates are going to fit into the pack.

I absolutely enjoyed this book. There was action, mystery and of course a mpreg. This book was just as good as the1st book. Josh is having issues with shifting...he's a new wolf and can't seem to control his shifts. Gerwulf arrives to help Josh and it's an immediate attraction. Which shocks Gerwulf, since he's straight. Josh knows what he wants and it Gerwulf. Gerwulf is afraid. Will he let his fear stop him from having a future? Read the book to find out!! So looking forward to the next books, because it can't end here!

the next installment I'm the bad oak boys series was well worth the wait. the depth of the characters, the plot and not to mention the mysticism are all weaved so beautifully. the concept of having rock stars meld into the supernatural world to bring about positive changes is like kismet. Not to give anything away but, I wonder how many will answer the bad oak boys call onto them. In this book Josh has started the call; I hope there's a lot more to come.

This is book two in the series and though it can be a standalone I recommend – strongly – reading book one first.

Josh and Gerwulf know they are mates pretty much from the beginning but neither really wants to be mated to the other.

They have to fight a common enemy and in doing so reinforce their bonds and find out that they really like one another on top of it!

I really am enjoying this series and the mpreg portion is really well done.

Highly recommended.

Now Josh thought he could take care of this on his own, without the help of his brother. But that's not working out for him, between the nightmares and the bands tour, Josh needs help that his brother can give. Who knew it would be his mate that Ryan sent to help him, and not to mention that Josh didn't like Gerwulf, and Gerwulf can't believe his mate is a man. They have a lot to work out but Josh is not giving up on his mate.
