Ellia Meyers, after having suffered a tragic loss when she was a teenager, goes out jogging in a desolate park one fateful evening where she is abducted by brutal men who wish to use her as a pawn to extract information from her father, a shady Detroit police officer. During her imprisonment, her world, as she perceived it, comes crumbling down around her when she learns the truth, not only about her ruthless father, but about the deadly shooting that took place when she was seventeen, forever altering her existence and keeping her in a dark shadow of depression for most of her adult life. After a narrow escape, Ellia struggles to stay alive and one step ahead of the sadistic men who seek her, while confronting the demons she’s struggled with for over a decade. Holding onto her sanity by a thread, she must learn the meaning of self-sacrifice and just how far someone must go to protect the ones they love.
I loved this book! I normally don't read independently published e-books, but after reading this one I'm definitely going to be more open to doing so from now on. Cannot wait for the second one to come out :)
