REVISED EDITIONGhostology is simply the study of Ghosts. It is not ghost hunting, neither is it is parapsychology. The study of ghosts - Ghostology, is not trying to capture apparitions on camera, although that is sometimes a part of it. It is not trying to record the sounds and the voices of the deceased or of spirits, although that too is a part of it. Ghostology is the holistic study of a fascinating aspect of our humanity, a shared human experience that dates back to the earliest civilisations and is common to all of them. Ghostology is not a “How to guide” for those seeking to investigate ghosts but it provides an up to date consideration and a discussion of the many methods and techniques that will prove helpful to anyone interested in the subject, for those who actively seek ghosts or who are merely interested in discovering more about this fascinating subject.
Y'know, I was so excited to get reading this book despite the silly cover because my parapsychology instructor so highly recommended it. While the sections that I did read were chockfull of insightful information, I personally couldn't get past all the egregious typos throughout this book. And it's not because it's The Queen's English––the publisher apparently doesn't make use of copyeditors and proofreaders, as every chapter I read had issues with doubled up words and even spelling errors. So I had to put it down, even though I really do want to read a few other sections. And I probably will, at some point, when I stop shaking my head about how unprofessionally published this book was. (But that's why I have a problem with boutique publishers.)
This was a great book and I'm sure the new V2 (with the blue cover) can only be better.
If you have an interest in the study of anomalous phenomena and like a gadget then this book is a must. If you want to take things seriously its important to know what you are doing and looking for and this book will help you with that.
The older version certainly isn't without its issues (which has also been acknowledged by the author) and I'm sure the updated version will have been gone through to catch the grammatical errors, spelling errors and a few repetitions, but these things certainly didn't put me off or from learning from it.
I will pick up this new version at some point...but i need to clear some space and books form the TBR before adding more!
