How do you fix a broken story? In this fallen world, life is often not how we thought it would be. Jobs vanish, relationships crumble, health fails. How do we find the hope to persevere? We can make sense of our broken stories by seeing them in the context of a larger and greater story. Kenneth Boa shows how God can transform our lives with an eternal perspective, when we live with the end in mind. In light of eternity, our struggles are temporary and our plot twists are not fatal. We are hard-wired by God with eternity in our hearts, and that longing gives us purpose, blesses others and helps us make a lasting mark on the world. Knowing our future is crucial to living our present. When we see our stories within his greater story, we learn to live with a heavenly perspective and follow it all the way home.

Rewriting Your Broken Story by Kenneth Boa is all about centering your focus around eternity and how this perspective changes the way you live your todays. Perhaps my favorite portion of the book was when Boa discussed existentialist philosopher, Soren Kierkegaard's statement "Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards." Boa broke this statement down to explain that our lives need to be planned by looking to the end of our lives. What sentiments do we want the ones we love the most to be left with as we're on our deathbed? What do we want to be accomplished by the time we leave this earth? By viewing life in such a way, we can now plan our lives today with this future perspective in mind.
The book had a number of good points and research sprinkled throughout the pages, but there were a few occasions where the book dragged a little. Suffice to say, this is a wonderful book for Christians who may feel like their life is purposeless and need a wake-up call to an eternal perspective. ****I edited this review from a four-star rating to a five because quite honestly, it really left an imprint on me and reduced some of my anxiety. If a book is able to have a lasting impression like this, it deserves five stars. You can see more of the *practical* takeaways I got from this book here: http://bit.ly/RewritingYourBrokenStory

Book club selection. Questions at the end of each chapter made for good conversation. K. Boa walks the reader through in a way that gives perspective of viewing your life in the light of eternity. So much of our life and identity can be wrapped up in our past environment and relationships. Boa invites the reader to reframe identity in relationship with Jesus.
Having purchased this book over a year ago I was in March preliminary diagnosed with a terminal diagnosis. This book was a great resource for me attempting to maintain a positive attitude. It has really helped
Boa's writing is down-to-earth, yet deep enough to make the reader pause and ponder. He offers hope for any who have finally realized that our stories may be broken, but that does not have to be the end.
This is an outstanding book. I was a skeptic about books about heaven and eternity. Having read "Heaven" Randy Alcorn and "Imagine Heaven" John Burke and been really captivated by both I was ready for Ken Boa's challenge to live life from an eternal perspective. I would strongly recommend the book to every Christian
