Abigail Forsythe’s life hasn’t been easy lately. The heroine:Abigail - while in her third year of medical school, Abigail had to drop out to take care of her mother who had cancer. After her mother passed away, she used up all of her mom’s life insurance and her own college fund to pay off the medical bills. Abigail then went to visit her best friend, Jet who is a cargo pilot who recently got out of the military. Jet talks her into traveling with him while he flies some cargo to Venezuela.
The Hero(s):Tomasso - he was captured by some ruffians that work for the Doctor whom he and the Enforcers that work for Lucien have been searching for. The doctor is basically a mad scientist who is determined to learn the secrets of the immortals and use them to his advantage. The Doctor has hold up on an island near Venezuela where he keeps his immortal ‘subjects’ that he experiments on.
The Story: Abigail finds herself in the back of the cargo plane when Jet’s clients say they are flying with the cargo since Jet isn’t their usual pilot. Abby is disturbed by the look and behavior of the clients, and completely disturbed when one of them comes into the cargo hold to check out his cargo while she hides. Turns out the cargo is a man, who has an IV keeping him unconscious and the client says some very enlightening things about their destination and what will happen to their ‘cargo’.
Of course Tomasso figures out pretty quickly that Abby is his life mate and so now has an obligation to keep her safe. However, they have to figure out how to get out of the situation they are in. This book had plenty of action, adventure and steam. I liked the romance between Abby and Tomasso, they were attracted to each other from the start though Abby had gained a bit of weight while taking care of her mother and had trouble believing that the sexy, muscular Italian was attracted to her.
This book was told from Abby’s point of view and narrated by Lisa Larsen. Lisa did a great job and has a few different voices in her repertoire, though I do like duet narration best, where the female does all the female parts and the male does the male parts. Even so, I enjoyed Lisa’s reading style and she has a pleasant voice, so it didn’t deter from the story.
I really enjoyed this story, it was funny and not at all like some of the previous books which took place in Canada with more than a few of the people from prior books as supporting characters. I liked the tropical location and the situations that these two got into.
Lust at first sight and terrible protagonists combined with a boring storyline.
Abigail is a whiney Eeyore of a character and Tomasso barely speaks.
We spend the beginning of the book stuck on a beach where Tomasso is ignoring Abigail so he doesn't accidentally bite her. Then she's sick for way too long. I don't need the details of her throwing up.
Caught up in a series difficult life events, Abigail seeks solace with one of her best friends and pilot only to find herself sashed in a cargo plane hiding amongst the crates. What she discovers there would shock even the most hardened, a naked man drugged and being smuggled out the country for some nefarious purpose. Abigail wakes the naked man, in the crate, only to be pushed out of the plane by said naked man into the middle of the Caribbean waters.
Tommasso is an immortal that has been captured by a group that wishes to study him in a lab like a rat. When he brought back to consciences by his life mate he knows he must do everything within his power to save her. Even if it means, pushing her out of the plane, swimming 100’s of miles in the ocean and keeping her safe from all that threaten her life…which might be him if he doesn’t find blood soon.
Immortal Nights is another must read adventure in the Argeneau series. I loved Dante but his twin, Tommasso, has brought that same smoldering sexy steam…maybe even more.
I received this ARC copy of Immortal Nights from Harper Collins - Avon in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication September 20, 2016.
This review was originally posted on Addicted To RomanceSummary Abigail Forsythe has had a rough road of late. After spending quite a long time taking care of her mother dying of cancer, Abigail must now figure out her life again and see what she needs to do to get things in order. She once wanted to work in medicine but doesn't know which way to go in life still reeling from her mothers death. But she comes to visit her friend and when he invites her on a job with him to South America, but Abigail is thrown in the fire when she finds out that the cargo on the plane they are on, is a man imprisoned. So when she rescues him, they escape the plane they make their way across the beaches and when Abigail becomes sick and almost dies from a disease she caught, Tomosso knowing that she is his lifemate, has no choice but to turn her. Abigail now has to face a new set of adventures and circumstances and working with Tomasso to find the men that kidnapped him. But Abigail is a force of nature and doesn't know it when she is tested in ways that could keep her from Tomasso for good. Plot and Story Line Immortal Nights, the latest release in the Argeneau series was delightful, funny but very silly at times. Out of all the books I have read from this author, this one was the most unrealistic of them all. I really liked the plot and the characters were fun and we do get to see more of Tomasso's brother and his lifemate Mary and more fun times with Lucien. Oh that man, he is so hilarious especially when he is trying to be so stern and doesn't get away with it. I love seeing him in later books and the way his lifemate and other women in his family work him. Quite entertaining. Now the actual romance between Tomasso and Abigail was lighthearted but felt a bit too fluffy for me. I wasn't able to quite feel it like I normally do until the very end which was a bit disappointing since I was expecting quite a bit from this book. Their relationship felt a bit too rushed, most of the story line felt too rushed in my opinion. I did like the sense of danger and adventure that is added in here with a unique setting too. That was definitely the highlight of the story for me, was seeing these characters in a place this author hasn't done before. And the villains even though they aren't good people didn't feel so "bad" more like just they had a "dumb" type of mentality but not the sort of villain you would be at the edge of your seat reading though. So even though I liked this book and would recommend it to fans of this series, its not a story I would necessarily put on my shelves. The Cover LOVE it!!! Avon did such a good job with this cover, and I love the whole sexy man in the water scene here!! I wouldn't mind keeping him :p Overall View Immortal Nights although a bit silly and has too much fluff in the plot at times....was a fun and entertaining story with a bit of adventure and sensuality to curl your toes!!!
So, Lynsay Sands totally amazes me. Twenty four books into the Argeneau series but, she always comes up with a new storyline and characters that are fun and exciting. She mixes the old with the new, always makes me laugh and definitely has me looking for a life mate.
Tomasso and Abigail were a very unlikely pair and were thrown together in the most unusual circumstances. But, they were great together. He knew what was happening every time he touched her and she just couldn’t understand why she was always waking up in the strangest positions and places.
The island they were stranded on was beautiful but she was tired of running and of tyring to find civilization. When they are rescued, she gets even more confused and becomes extremely ill. There is only one way for Tomasso to save the woman that completes him and he won’t let her die. The next time she wakes up, she’ll be an immortal.
So much went on in this book. The time stranded on the island after escaping Tomasso’s kidnappers was hysterical. His solution for his constant erection had me laughing out loud. Her solution to all the crab bites on his “member” was even funnier. Once at the resort, things became a little more serious since he had a lot of explaining to do and she had a lot to digest. But, they had their moments there too. They soon found out that you really shouldn’t fool around with a blood bag in your mouth.
I loved that Lucian, Dante, Mary and Brickler all were included in Immortal Nights. Then Aunt Marguerite made an appearance as well. I love that woman! But, that’s what I adore about Lynsay Sands … each book is a stand-alone but she knows that we will all want an update about our other favorites. I’m not sure who she is going to pair with Jet but, the ending to this one was a bit intriguing. It will be real interesting to see where she is taking us next.
Again, Immortal Nights was fun, as usual. Lynsay Sands doesn’t know how to write a “dull moment” into a story. She’s always keeping it light and fun until she has to bring some seriousness into the story. Then, that’s even a little bit funny as well. She writes characters that are interesting, intense and good-natured … that all have a “light” side to them and have a wonderful sense of humor. As I said, I am not sure where she is bringing the next installment of the Argeneau’s but it looks like it may be a bit more serious than Immortal Nights. I’m looking forward to see if she can surprise me and still keep me as entertained as she has throughout this whole series.
In the beginning Lynsay (I feel we're on a first name basis since I've been reading her vampire romances since they first came out) wrote some cute and delightful romances that involved vampires and would make me laugh out loud. I couldn't eat or drink while reading them because I knew - just KNEW - at some point I would laugh until a pig snort came out. Then she left that part of the series and went towards the vampire enforcers. Now suddenly they have a cookie cutter plot and books are churned out every 6 months or so. Take this book for example.
Here's a girl who finds a guy naked in a cage and rescues him...ok.... then they start fooling around on the back of the plane.... Say what?!?! What the...? Really??? you think that in that in this type of situation that that would be first thing that you'd think about? Hey he's/she's hot - let's hump??? But wait - it gets better because then they jump off a plane and, wait for it, she hits her head rendering her unconscious for HOURS - H-O-U-R-S PEOPLE!! while her "life mate" swims (8 miles? through the night) single handedly towards shore hauling her (with head above water), holding on to a first aid kit and, oh yeah, fighting off a shark that comes nosing around. That's so believable right? And that head wound that created all those hours and hours of unconsciousness? It's nothing - just a little gash that doesn't prevent them from even pausing in their feverish perusal of each other as they deal with being stranded on a beach with the bad guys supposedly after them.
And that's all this book is - one cheesy sloppy clumsy fumbling after another (the terms "romance" and "love scene" are just too refined to apply). And then the big reveal comes and she learns vampires exist + she's now one, and the girl (heroine too lofty a title to give her) couldn't care less - there's no pause in the action because hey, she has the perfect body ("pow pow" to quote her initial response) and now life's peachy. Don't get me wrong - that's a heck of an incentive, but take Mary for example. Now Mary has lost her kids and grandkids but seems just fine because she has her sexy boy toy around (their story was the focus of the last book). So, to clarify in case you missed it, about a week after her fake death by fire, she's moving on with life and totally ok with the fact that her family is no longer part of her future and actually believe that she's dead (Mom of the Year award goes to.....) while she romps around totally consumed by the never ending heat of her lust.
As I'm reading this vomit I swear I can hear Lynsay laughing all the way to the bank since she's conned me into buying one last book even though the last 4-5 have been getting steadily worse and worse. And let me tell you - I sear by all that's Holy, this IS my LAST book. This has taken a couple of hours to slog through that I'll never get back. For the record, I refuse to continue to read the crud she's turning out - even if she were to start giving them away for free. Life's just too short. If you want a good vampire romance why not try your hand at writing one of your own. You'll actually have something to show for your time and, trust me, there's NO WAY you could do worse than the sludge I was just subjected to.
But, in case you're a die hard fan who hasn't given up hope and think she can redeem herself, there's yet another vampire hunter/enforcer/police novel coming out in MARCH 2017. If this is indeed the case, then bless your heart I hope for your sake she does a 180 instead of just changing the names of her characters. If you're fed up like me, why not try Jeanine Frost? Her series has ended and, full disclosure, touch on some bloody scenes now and then, but there's tons of thought, humor and character development throughout her Night Huntress series. What would you have to lose?
Since I picked up the first book in the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands I fell in love with the world Ms. Sands created. Her vampires are different and with each book this series became more and more addicting. While each book is different and I might have loved more than others I knew when Tomasso was introduced I wanted to read his story. Now Bricker might be my favorite but Tomasso is close to the top of amazing characters that I will always love.
If you read the last book you know that Tomasso was kidnapped and the crew is looking for him hoping they find him in time. He had no idea while being locked up in a cargo plane that he would find his life mate in Abigail, who just happens to be just along for the ride. When Abigail finds a naked Tomasso in the cargo hold all she knows is she has to get them the both out of there. When their connection grows deeper Abigail must choose to be with Tomasso or to keep living the life she has all when being chased by the kidnappers. It's not a easy choice, but what's a girl to do?
In the series Ms. Sands go back and forth between the Argeneau's and the Rouge Hunters, Immortal Nights looks like it is setting up for the next Rouge Hunter book (yay). This story starts out with Abigail being the rescuer for an Immortal (who would have thought) but I thought it was romantic. These two might be life mates but at first I really didn't fell the chemistry between them but as the story started to progress everything started to build and come together nicely.
I did feel that the romance was a bit on the rushed side, but that didn't take away from the fun and exciting story that Sands was giving her readers. I love Tomasso and glad he finally got his own HEA especially after he has watched everyone else find there's. Sands brought the humor and of course supplied her readers with previous characters which was a big plus for me since I love them all.
This could be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the previous book just for a little more background on the kidnapping of him and his twin. I am already looking forward to Immortal Unchained and seeing who will be next to find their HEA and what adventure Sands will take them on.
I loved the humor and details that were brought to Immortal Nights. If you are looking for a funny yet romantic paranormal read you wont want to miss Immoral Nights.
Well I have read every one of these Argeneau books and have loved them all, some much more than others to tell the truth.
The last few seem to be getting back closer to what those first book were about that made me laugh so much but these last 2 have pulled us back a bit more into the Rogue Hunters world along with an multi-book overarching plot.
The prime couple here are Abigail, a girl who was in some depression of her own when this adventure begins and Tomasso who was in dire straits, hopefully you read the last book Runaway Vampire which would give you the background on this circumstance.
The plot starts around one of the worst romantic rescues in history and even with some humorous moments the romance seemed a bit rushed in some ways as did some other portions of this book but I did enjoy this story and was frustrated that we still have to wait to see (hopefully) some serious movement in the overarching plot which looks to be in the next book slated for Mar 2017. To be honest there is too much to tell for this to be contained in 1 book so it seems one of my favorite series will continue for at least a few more novels.
Bottom line: A decent romance, some good humorous moments, a bit of a thriller in places and while the story of Tomasso and Abigail gets a pretty good wrap-up she leaves us some teasers for that overarching plot that is going to make waiting until 2017 very hard. 4 Stars and highly recommended
I'm addicted to witty, vampire romance and Lynsay Sands has surprised me more than once. But this one failed on all counts.
This book loses 3 stars because :
1 Abigail is a curvy girl who hates her body. Her nickname is "Abs". This can be interpreted as funny, ironic or cruel.
2 I think she had better chemistry with Jet not Tomasso. We have problems.
I won't be describing their romance because I can't. These two never came to life and their romance was as flat as cardboard. It read like the miserable journal entries of a girl lost in an unhospitable environment with a gorgeous guy who blows hot and cold. You're not emotionally involved but worried about exposure, infections, poison and sleeping on sand. And insects....
3 You know the Immortals are being kidnapped and experimented on but you never learn why. What does the Big Bad guy want?
The book gets two stars because :
Half - You don't hate Tomasso because you get his pov, which explains his mood swings.
Half - I'm still fascinated by the nanos and Atlantis aspect. I'd definitely sign up for this.
2 I liked Jet and think he can be a great lifemate for someone more interesting. Fingers crossed. I'd love to read book with him as the lead.
There was plenty of action in this book (a good thing), but it lacked the humor of the previous book(s). I had really been looking forward to finding out what happened to Tomasso, so it accomplished that much. There's nothing wrong with the book or the MCs, it just didn't ring my bell as one I will especially remember in this series.
I'm also not liking the 'mad scientist on a tropical island' direction the series is heading into, but I'll stick with it.
Along with the previous novel about Tomasso's brother I really enjoyed this book. I kind of feel like this series is getting back to the things I so enjoyed about the series at first. I really wasn't feeling all the couples Marguerite was setting up. Here the hero and heroine met by happenstance. I loved the whole action packed adventure the two of them had. The book wasn't overwhelmed with sex scenes which have bogged down some of the others that I didn't enjoy so much. There was just enough of some of the other characters we're familiar with to make me happy and I always love to see Lucian since he remains my favorite. The heroine here, Abigail, was particularly fun. She was super smart and started figuring out the vampire/immortal thing on her own. She was fun and accepting. There was humor in the book and I smiled throughout.
This was much better than the last few books in the series. If it was up to me I would have cut out a good big chunk of all the repetitive parts and made this into a great novella!
I still remember how much I loved the first books in that series but I think (and I never thought I would actually say this about any series) - it is time ..... unless the author comes up with a fresh idea she should stop this - it is getting rewarmed all over they are all the same those books and now she even starts lending the character names ?
Yes I noticed ... it could not have been more obvious if she had called the character "gibbs" ...
3 1/2 almost want to give it 4 but it is just not there. I enjoyed it and the series was a favorite so I feel compelled to bump it up but after reading so many better PNRs I just have to leave it at just good.
So the good 1. In this one the relationship is actually pretty good. The last one fell flat so this one was a nice romance. 2. There was some humor, not as much as these used to have but I did laugh a few times. The not so good. 1. The plot. It is the same old same old except now they have a group of kidnappers that they are tracking down instead of Leo. Still same crap different name. Not original and not interesting. Capture, escape, maybe another capture or confrontation, and escape. Pretty formulaic. So boring. 2. Not enough humor to make up for the plot. There is a bit but not the constant that some of the older books had. For me, humor can make up for a so/so plot, this one just didn't do it.
I enjoyed it and actually got through it in 2 days... so it didn't drag but there was nothing new either. Oh, and she leaves us with a cliffhanger epilogue that really is the over arc of chasing the "new" bad guy. Not nice to try to reel us in and really it doesn't do it as you really don't care for the ho hum bad guy plot. So just good, not one of her better ones.
You know why I liked The Accidental Vampire, because it had a different plot, where an accidental vampire is bringing notice to herself and needs to be investigated. Or Lucian's story, the stoic always 'do the right thing' Lucian is hit blindsided when he finds his lifemate. Or A Quick Bite, where the mother kidnaps the psychologist. The background plot is never complex and the bad guys are simplistic but, they were different, they were very humorous, and the romance sizzled. This had a pretty good romance and since it is PNR, I give it a good rating but no real difference in plot than the last couple and not enough humor to pull it to really good.
I have read several books in this series. The best part about this series is that even if you have not read every book in this series like I have you will still enjoy these books. Each one is a stand alone novel. The other great thing that I like about these books are the vampires are H-O-T!
I would not mind be stranded on an island with Tomasso. In fact, if I was Abigail, I would not have been disappointed if I was never rescued. However, reading this book all I could think about is the show Naked and Afraid. There were a few funny moments but the funniest one was when Tomasso injured his penis and Abigail the doctor had to come to the rescue. The ending left me now craving to read the next book to see how the story continues. Immortal Nights will leave you sleepless (this is a good thing).
A good story, if you are a huge fan of the Argeneaus and their extended families.
The story picks up from the last one where Tomasso, the other Notte twin that was captured escaped with the help of Abigail, a woman who happens to be at the right place at the right time. As expected, the resecuer happens to be his lifemate.
I have to say that the story is predictable and formulaic with the exception of the mysterious Dr Dressler who is intent in capturing the immortals so that he can experiment on them (and perhaps find out their secret to immortality). But that's the thing - if you have been following the series like i do then you would probably diligently still read the books even when the stories are no longer like what it used to be (the stories used to have a fair amount of humour and uniqueness for each of the immortal characters but for the past 10 books or so the humour is no longer there and the stories have become a mere vehicle for something like a series "finale"). There was a point when the series was downright blah but with these two books on the twins the story is heading to a new direction with the addition of a real villain that adds to the long lost intrigue to the series.
Nonetheless, i still enjoyed the story as i love the idea of nanos making a person forever young and almost invincible. It's a nice fantasy and i guess i'd still be reading the series as now the story's picking up in terms of mystery amd allure.
Things have not been going well for Abigail. After her mother is diagnosed with cancer, Abigail feels that she has not choice but to drop out of medical school to care for her. For months she acts as her mother's caregiver, putting her life on hold but its a sacrifice she's willing to make. When Abigail's mother dies, the only relief that Abigail has is that the money she had saved for medical school and the sale of the house is enough to pay off all of the medical debt. Unfortunately, this leaves Abigail with a few hundred dollars to her name, no job, no plan and feeling alone. When she gets the chance to visit her childhood friend, Abigail jumps at the opportunity never guessing that will lead to her involvement in a kidnapping and ultimately, change her life forever.
It's book twenty-four and it's fair to say that there's nothing new about this story. By this point, Sands is clearly writing her books by the numbers making it even more predictable than other paranormal romance novels. Declaring a human a life mate is a short cut to get the romance happening thus explaining how one can claim to be in love after only eight days. Even if I could tolerate the insta love, the idea of fooling around with a man you found in a cage after sneaking onto an airplane, while his captors are in the cockpit no less is beyond ridiculous. Even the woo woo that is essential this this kind of story could not stop me from giving the whole thing the side eye.
I want to know where the humor went in this series? Sure, the earlier books were certainly formulaic but at least they had laugh out loud moments to distract you from how unoriginal the whole boy meets girl plot is. The entire point of this book seems to be to rush Tomasso and Abigail quickly into sex. They don't even know each other's names and yet they are quickly going at it. I have no objection to porn but I do however object to bad porn masquerading as romance.
Abigail, is like many of the protagonists in that she doesn't really have many ties, thus making it easier for her to simply run off with her immortal lover. The one tie she does have have is her childhood friend Jet who she promptly forgets about the moment she lays eyes on Tomasso Notte. In my book, this makes her an awful person. For all she knew, Jet could have been taken prisoner. He could have been being abused and violated or even murdered but she was too busy getting it on with Tomasso to think about her BFF from childhood.
If Abigail only failing had been being a rainy day friend, I perhaps could have lived with that as a failing. Unfortunately, Sands has created a female love interest with low self esteem, who constantly whines about how fat and unattractive she is. Sure to some extent there are women with body issues but Abigail is extreme and constantly doubts that someone as attractive as Tomasso could possibly be interested in her sexually. She even wonders if Tomasso will want to touch her after seeing her in daylight as though she's somehow disfigured because she's fat. The whole thing fatphobic and downright anti woman. Would it really be so hard for Sands to write a female love interest who looks at herself in the mirror and likes what she sees for a change?
Full disclosure, I’ve never read any of the Immortal books before and starting on #24 probably wasn’t the best idea. But my library only has a limited selection of audiobooks available and I had to take what I could get. So this review will be from the perspective of someone totally new to the series.
And the verdict is: I didn’t like it.
The characters were annoying and hard to warm up to, the plot was slow and disjointed. The mythos surrounding the Immortals was poorly explained. And this was very obviously a filler book for the broader, over-arching series plot because a big bad villain is discussed but there’s zero payoff to his story.
So all in all, I was left disappointed by the book. I really disliked Abigail and her self-hating ways in the beginning and didn’t believe any of her actions throughout the book because she didn’t ask the questions any functioning adult would ask in her situation. Tomasso was boring and silent all the time when it would have made a lot more sense to speak up or take action. And the plot was slow, disjointed, and just marking time for the over-arching story. Definitely don’t pick this book as your first introduction to the series.
I've read all the previous books in this series and have adored them, Immortal Nights and the previous book, Runaway Vampire, just didn't seem get me like the other books in the Argeneau and Rouge Hunter series. Which is a shame as I loved the Notte twins when they have appeared as secondary characters in other books. Maybe they just aren't as interesting and complex as protagonists in their own novels. I felt that the book took to much time getting started, the stranded on a beach chapters should of been shorter, in my opinion. I started to enjoy the book more when they made it to the resort and Tomasso turned her, just in time for his brother to turn up. I liked the introduction of Jet. He seems like he will be an interesting character and a good way to add in another connection to the non Argeneau clan, when he meets his life mate. I wonder who that will be? I did like how well connected the book was, how everything happened for a reason. Jet bought Abigail sunglasses in the store, then they hid her silver flecked eyes from the kidnappers, so they were unable to tell she was an immortal. It was an easy read, I didn't love it as I used too but I still like the series enough to pick up the next book in the series. Also, why the heck would anyone tie a vine around their man parts?!! That was hilarious. And, "pogo stick." Really?
Another great installment in this paranormal romance series. I liked pretty much everything about it, the plot, action, humor, characters, romance; it was all good. This twins story is just as enjoyable as his brothers. Abigail stows away on her friends plane and ends up rescuing a naked Tomasso who is being held captive in the cargo hold.
I'm not sure why I let myself get so far behind on this series. Here's the thing, I really enjoy it so...I think it's just that for a while there I was reading the same authors over and over and the same type of book that I got a little burned out.
So I took a break from Sands and now I'm 5 books behind with another being published in September. Hopefully, I'll be ready for that one.
As I mentioned above, I really enjoy this author. I've kept up with her historicals and usually her paranormals too. For me, Sands is a comfort read. One of those authors that can start reading and get right into the story. I love that about her.
So I've finally read Immortal Nights which is the twin of the prior book. If you've read the series then you know that you wanted to know more about these twins. Throughout the series whenever they are in a book they are a complete mystery. Yes, you know who they are, but since they didn't really talk much you did really get the feel for them.
Which is why at the time I couldn't wait for their books. So of course did I read it? No. But now I have read them both and I'm so glad. I love Tomasso. He is such a wonderful hero in this book. When you first meet Abby you feel for her. She's been through so much and it seems isn't done yet. It's wonderful that after losing her mom that she could find someone to share her life with. Tomasso is just what she needs. I was also intrigued by her friend Jet and can't wait to see what more is going to happen in his life.
I also am glad that it seems like you got a little bit more information about what is going on with the missing people. I'm really enjoying this substory in the series. It takes a long series and rejuvenates it.
If you haven't yet tried Lynsay Sands paranormals you really should. They have tons of humor in them and characters you really want to know. I would read the series in order because there are more than one story threads that run through it.
Tomasso and Abigail as individuals and a couple didn't grasp my attention and keep it, I never really felt the spark or connection between them. Heat, energy and depth was missing.
I found myself overall pretty disinterested in reading about their journey and how they would gain their HEA - for that reason I did skim read about 10 minutes about 51% in to the book, and then read the rest, but due to a lack of engagement what I read vanished very quickly from my mind.
It would have been nice if I had learnt in this book why the Immortals are being kidnapped and experimented on, but that never occurs, which frustrated me.
This book was painfully dry for me. Plus, commencing it straight after reading book 23, helped me see sharply the lack of energy that remains in the series now, compared to say the first dozen books in the series.
I don’t think I will be reading anything new in this series, but I will go back and read some of the earlier books.
Tomasso and Abigail's story was one of my least favorite ones. The first part of the book, while they were roaming in the wild, was meh... I really loved Jethro though and I can't wait to read his story, lets hope that the next book in the series is better.
